Finally! - August 2023 Like most tourists in the Yukon, two things I really was hoping to see were a Moose and a Mounty. In downtown Whitehorse, Yukon Territories, I finally saw both… at once… sort of. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of these two big stuffed moose outside a store. MWM

So I found out that horses do in fact exist in Star Wars (Wookieepedia says they’re found on Endor, Dathomir and Coruscant!), and as I'm a certified Horse Girl™, I had to draw the mounted division of the Coruscant Guard!

Maybe one day I’ll be patient enough to give this a proper Coruscant background, but not today.

A while ago, I found this pic, and then came across this on TV tropes:

Leslie Nielsen, who played Sgt. Buck Frobisher, was the son of a Mountie in real life. During his first appearance on the show, he took Paul Gross aside and told him that he was lacing his boots incorrectly and then proceeded to teach him the proper way for a Mountie to tie his shoes.

I find the whole quote extremely endearing (and also vividly Canadian).

When calls the heart au where you have prim-and-proper schoolteacher!reader who had no business teaching school in the back country, and then you have mounty!ghost who thinks you're a load of crap and are gonna turn with your tail between your legs when country life gets to difficult for you.

He thinks he's right when you accidentally burn your house down. He can't find you afterwards so he assumes you hightailed it out of town. Imagine his surprise when you show up the next, looking very much out together, to teach school.

He's even more surprised when a kid goes missing and you hike through the woods in your fancy dress to find him. And when you fall into a mine, he tries to ignore the flare of panic he feels as your pretty face vanishes below the ground.

And then he learns that you are here against your father's wishes and that if this whole teaching thing fails, you may not have a home to return to. He can't help but admire your grit, reminding him so much of the family he left behind all those years ago.

You flirt with each other, but you also fight like demons, drawing each other and pushing each other away in the same breath. Until one night it all comes to a head and he finally kisses you. After that it's not long till you get married(Proce marries you and your pretty little school kids are the choir)

And for some angst if you'd like: you'd barely been married a year when he goes off to war. A man comes riding back, says his name is John MacTavish, and brings news of your husband's death. You're in such a state of grief that you almost lose the baby, but, thank the heavens, he survives the birth and makes it through the night. You name him Simon, his little blonde curls and gray eyes, a cruel reminder of what was lost.
