Mr. Throwback has a lot of Gen Z slang in it's script despite most of it's cast being in their 30s and 40s. I can see people finding this 'cringe' but I think it's very funny for a 60 year old man to earnestly say "I got that dog in me."

A mockumentary sitcom revolving around NBA superstar Stephen Curry's public persona probably should not be as funny as this is. Comedians Adam Pally, Ego Nwodim, and Ayden Mayeri star as people in the Golden Warriors point guard's orbit who either take advantage of the his generousity or must protect him. Pally plays his usual loveable but scheming schlubby best friend character as a dad trying to give his teenage daughter (Layla Scalisi) the more than he had growing up.

Thinking about how there's so many stories of teachers who have ruined school for people, and been the cause of years of mental anguish for others. I wanna share stories about teachers who genuinely helped change someones life.

I was almost hospitalized in sixth grade from weight loss due to bullying. After meeting with a gajillion doctors, they diagnosed with a nuerodivergency that made school a struggle. Only one teacher in the entire school stood up for me and basically coached me through those three years. No one asked her to, and apparently she drove home in tears after meeting me. She became the only adult at the school I trusted and would ask for her when I'd gotten thrown in detention cuz I knew she was the only one who'd take my side.

She grew my love of science and debate. She gave me harsh truths that helped me understand the world better. She explained transgenderism when my sister came out and I couldn't wrap my head around it.

Then in high school after I'd almost died, a para educator who used to work with me came back from another school in the district just to meet with me once a week and help me with my homework. Again, she was not working at my school anymore. She didn't need to be there. But she went out of her way to help a sixteen year old girl turn in her English homework on time because I couldn't handle the stress of almost loosing myself and half my family and manage school at the same time.

My math teacher that year also did the same. She found a tutor for me and set me up with them once a week so I wouldn't fall behind. Math was my worst subject and she knew that, but she refused to let me fail and found a solution. I ended up passing that class.

I don't think I would have graduated without any of these teachers. For sure there were the ones that left lasting scars, but this isn't about them. This is about the ones who saw a little girl suffering and decided to step up and help, even when they weren't asked to. Even when it came out of their pocket.

Because they were genuinely good teachers.

Lucien is going to the United States for a work conference, and I asked if I could take this opportunity to visit the lab where he did his master's and doctoral studies. So, I'm going with him...

"I'm wondering if an apple will fall on my head."

He says it so seriously that I find it kind of cute. On a whim, I get up, pick an apple, and then gently tap him on the head.

"Knock knock."

Lucien seems surprised by my action, the light in his pupils flickers.

"What about you?"

"Me…"

I smile sheepishly.

"I thought of a fairy tale, Prince... Snow White."

"But that's not how I remember the story?"

"Because… this is a story I imagined!"

Lucien nods thoughtfully, not minding my nonsense at all, but instead curving his eyes in a good mood.

"So, in the story, who are you?"

This question stumps me for a moment. After seriously thinking for a while, I finally speak.

"I'm the magic mirror."

"Because the magic mirror knows everything?"

"Not really, it's because the magic mirror only looks at...the prince."

"And if I were the magic mirror, I wouldn't need you to ask, I would tell you that—"

"Lucien is the most handsome, most intelligent, most amazing, and the person I love the most in the world."

"You must be curious about me too, right?"
