Uy naghike din kami sa ulap last week (feb23).
Sabi ng guide namin, from there, kita na rin daw yung pulag at arayat. I think lucky yung mga naghike that time sa pulag kasi may clearing. Kita kasi yung sea of clouds maski dun sa location namin. And kahit kami na- amaze ✨

Why is Mt. Ulap the Best Hike for Beginners
If you’re new to hiking and just wanted to decide whether or not hiking is for you while making sure that your first experience would be worth it, then try Mt. Ulap.

Having an elevation of 1,846 MASL, you will experience a beginner-level of challenge, but breathtaking scenery that do not require much of a hardship.
Actually, it was the beauty of Marlboro Hills in Sagada that pushed me to try actual hiking. It was January 2019 when I first decided to hike a mountain. I am lucky to climb Mt. Ulap because it gave me the best first impression on hiking.

Jump Off is in Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. The guide will explain to you the three peaks for the entire climb. First is Ambanao Paoay Peak, a cradle of pine trees and twilight-like scenery. Second is Gungal peak - the famous photo spot for everyone. Third is Mt. Ulap with a height of 1,846 masl.

The trail to Mt. Ulap is quiet easy for me because I have a good sense of balance and I have an active lifestyle. The trail is mostly steep but there’s also lots of flat surface where you can run and walk at ease. It was very difficult physically, as you can imagine, because the trail is mostly steep and very very long until you reach flat surfaces where you can rest. Tho it can be a little challenging and tedious for those who haven’t done much cardio especially during the ascent. Patience is a must since Mt Ulap is a long hike compared to other minor climbs.

Regardless, the climb to Mt. Ulap, is definitely worthwhile because the sight of nature’s beauty is truly rewarding.

Along the hike, the herd of cows will welcome you and see, I wasn’t able to stop myself from being too friendly with them.

The scenery on this part of the climb made me feel like I’m in New Zealand. Tall, slender trees. Almost like a scene from Twilight! Free roaming cattle (new friends of Ratty!)

Tall and, slender trees are also too gorgeous that climbing the mountain alone wasn’t enough. I had to climb this tree as well.

The mountain’s grassland and pine ridges and scenic views of the Cordilleras, 8-hour trek is worth it. I didn’t think I would find such landscapes in the Philippines. From the thick green grass and pine trees to the carved out ridges on the trail, so many things were picture-perfect, and yes, Instagram-worthy!

So, if you’re somebody who’s hesitating if putting up extra physical effort for trekking is gonna be worth it, then Mt. Ulap suits you well. Because I tell you, it is.

Sharing my "sinabi na kasing bawal ganyan" (this is prohibited) pose at Gungal Rock and the spectacular panoramic view of the mountain range.

Mt Ulap Eco-trail is one of the best, friendliest and most organized trail I’ve been to. It’s a good model for other local trails to follow. It has cool pine forest, stunning ridges and healthy vegetation. The trek can take 4-6 hours or more depending on your level of fitness or aim. If you take pictures a lot it can take longer.
These scenic views made us forget about our full packs and the heat of the sun. It’s like you wanna stop and take a photo everywhere you look.
It was definitely a memorable weekend! Thanks again to Rock Jockers & Company for arranging this awesome event. ‘Til next hike! :) ❤

Mt Ulap Traverse
"The journey to the top."
It was my first hike, literal na first hike mga fren. Mt. Ulap can be found in Itogon,Benguet. It's difficulty is 3/9 with MASL of 1846. Mt. Ulap features grassland and pine ridges, scenic views of the Cordilleras, burial caves(from pinoy mountaineer). The hike required a day and 2-3 hrs. to summit.

I never thought that my first hike would be Mt. Ulap, they said its good for begginers so I was so excited. We depart at around 12am and arrived at itogon benguet around 6am, we waited for I think 20-30 mins to register due to the volume of hikers. They also offer some gear for hiking such as gloves, caps and a stick. After getting registered and having a tour guide we headed to the jump-off which is a few step from the registration booth. By the way the ridge is called anpucao-sta.fe ridge.

We walk in a steep flat road before we start the real hike. I was exhausted at that time because its my first time hiking and also the clouds are going down, we can't breath normally. I can't feel my hands due to the cold breeze and I got my nose running😅😅. As time goes by we can feel the hardness of the hike. Thanks to our guide we have time to rest, we got to drink a lot of water and eat some goods. Nakakapagod grabe. Wala pa kami sa first peak e nangangalahati na yung tubig na dala namin. Mararamdaman mo na yung init after a while of hiking. The trail are too steep pero the view was great. I can smell the pine trees, I can see the leaves waving at us, even the small mountain below our sight is great.

The first peak which is camp Site 1 Ambanaw- paway is a pure grassland with 1788 MASL. I never thought I could make it this far! I was so happy I've got the chance to see the beautiful nature in this mountain. In this peak you can enjoy the flatness of the mountain, the grass of the mountain though you can see some poops of animals it does'nt affect the beauty of the place. After we took some picture and rest we decided to start the hike to the 2nd peak. The way is more harder than before. You can see that your really in the mountain, your left and right are cliff! The way to the 2nd peak are rocky.

The second peak is Gungal,1814 MASL, 5.4 km. Gungal peak is popular for the huge gungal rock.I didn't have the courage to have a photo in that rock because its freaking "buwis buhay", a small wrong move can kill you.The funny thing is we witness a wedding proposal in that rock! That was so lovely!. We took time to rest in the rest area while the others are in line for the photo on the rock. I just enjoy the scenery while resting. It was fantastic.

The last stop is the summit which is 1846 MASL, 6.4 km. At last we made it to the top! The view is priceless. Words can't describe the beauty of Mt.Ulap. I t was a gift of god. You can feel the calmness of the nature. Lahat ng hirap na napagdaanan mo during the hike is worth it! The breath-taking view of the mountains can ease the pain you felt. By the way we took the shortcut to the summit. When I say "shortcut" literal na shortcut which is 5 minutes hike but the thing is its freaking steep😭😭 akala ko hihiwalay na yung binti ko sa katawan ko, ang hirap fren. Kasalaana ni kuya tour guide.charot.😂😂😂

I recommend you this mountain. Its worth the pain.!😊😊😊 Anyway we finished the hike for about 10-11 hrs.

After the summit there's a ministop there. You can buy some souvenirs there such as keychain, shirts, ref magnet, wallet and many more.
Overall experience is 8/10 for me. As a beginner its too hard pero worth it naman. A big thank you sa aming coor at tour guide dahil sumabay sila sa pacing namin.
And thats all ,I hope you can also hike this mountain!!!
P.S..
If youre wondering about the expenses we book a group tour under buhay bundok, you can check them in fb. We paid 1100php for the whole trip.
P.P.S.
I hope I can upload the video I made.😊😊😊
Thats all thank you for reading.!!!😊😊😊💓💓💓💓
