As a mentally disabled lesbian, thank you for your work. My disability isn't as severe as other kinds, but i still am unable to do shit sometiems and i get shit on on all sides for not being ~neat and tidy~ like women are expected to be, even from other "feminists." It's really disheartening and makes me not want to continue trying bc my efforts aren't good enough so why am i wasting all this energy??

I get that anon. I'm in a similar place, both of my disabilities are invisible. It's really disheartening when women who are supposed to be fighting for all women do that. I've felt that certain feminist spaces would drop me if I showed the more difficult aspects of my conditions. and sometimes he is a serious bitch who externalizes his internalized ableism but other than that it's good

he feels like he's in the grey area you're talking about i think, which is why i wanted to recommend it

he also experiences a lot of ableism from people because his disability is visible though, and the conflict he has is "feels too abled to be disabled and too disabled to be abled". so i don't know if it's quite like what you're talking about but, maybe you might relate to some of it

i do relate to "being visibly disabled in an invisible way" but i don't know how to talk about it coherently right now. i think, i just feel like people hear the term "visible disability" and immediately think it means people always believe and accept that you're disabled, when in reality a lot of them don't believe and don't completely, genuinely accept most if not all disabled people. you know. that's why i like visible difference better. because it covers the "abled people often think i look unhealthy, weird, or ugly" part of my life without implying it means they believe and accept me, to other people, because "visible disability" really just means "my disability can be seen on my body or face or in the way i move or the way i act, talk, or interact". ok this is actually the most coherent i've been about this and it's in a stranger's ask box

NONNIE!!!!!! BELOVED!!!!!!! I A D O R E Ryan O'Connell's Special, both the show and the book which I've finally gotten around to reading last year.

It's the most relatable portrayal of CP to me specifically that I've ever seen, I see so much of myself in that show and yet it isn't quite it. I thought of the show when I wrote the post but eventually decided Ryan is still in the "visibly disabled" area by comparison to me and thus the post can't feature him
