ajax overheats easily.

you've noticed, when he unbuttons some of his jacket or rolls up his sleeves, even when it's nice out. good weather to you and most others is too hot to him. you guess it has to do from growing up in snezhnaya; him being used to cruel winters makes inviting summers too intense in their warmth. he complains on and on, stopping at stalls to get cool drinks or frozen treats, buying matching fans to beat the heat, pressing a soft kiss to your lips as you take shelter from the sun under a canopy of trees.

in bitter winter, whisked away to his homeland as he drapes his coat over your shoulders and holds you close, sat on the porch of his childhood home as his siblings run in the snow. when the spring breeze hits your face, and you hold on to him to surpass the brief chill. he manages it just fine, but somehow with you it feels more pleasant. in the fall when the nights begin to get shorter, you're as bright as the remaining day, as hot as the sun. and now, even in the blazing heat, even when he's too hot, he needs you to warm that place in his chest, to feel the soft rush of being cherished.

if there's water nearby, he usually ends up dragging you to the beach, pulling you knee deep into the sea despite your complaints about being wet as you walk around after. but you're never serious, and he knows this— knows the way you always end up rolling up your pants, knows the way your lips curl into a faint smile, petals blossoming.

ajax knows you like he knows the back of his hand; he remembers the exact way you kiss all the freckles on it, with so much care as if you're mapping the stars themselves. he knows the exact way you'll laugh when he splashes at you, that you'll splash him back, the way you'll smile as you walk home while the sun sets, hand in hand. he'd rather admire you than the night sky, would rather bask in your warmth than the sun's.

he'd keep trying to feel your warmth even when it's too much.

"it's so hot," he whines, you locked against him as his face presses into your neck. you feel his words against your pulse, changing from the smile he had there not long ago. you roll your eyes at his whining, at how well his alias fits his attitude sometimes. this is of his own doing, after all.

"because you're holding me like you're clinging on for dear life during a heatwave," you murmur, and he shakes his head. “if you wanna cool down, move back a little.”

"ajax..." you begin, with that exasperated tone he's gotten from you multiple times today, like he usually does on days like these. you're not actually mad at him, he knows; your anger is a different blaze to him, a different kind of ache than the sickeningly sweet one he feels now.

"i am holding on for dear life!" he whines. "after all, how am i s'posed to go on if i can't have you in my arms? don't be ridiculous, sweetheart."

ajax will always listen to you, but this is one of those times he just can't. you might be warm, but he can't forsake that.

"whaat, what? am i in trouble?" he grins, and you scowl even further. his heart thuds a bit faster, choppy ocean waves. you're so cute, he thinks, and the thought only makes him grin wider, which in turn makes you frown deeper. he loves you, all of you, even when you frown, even when you're grumpy with him, even when your tone is stern.

"i want to go to bed, ajax. so move to cool down, or stay and stop complaining. let me sleep," you say, yawn punctuating the sentence. the same thudding of his heart again, same ocean waves. the sound makes him grin wider.

"you're so cute," he says, softly against your pulse.

it's thudding the way his is.

you pause, and he knows that you feel flustered. you pretend not to when you huff, but he felt the hesitation. “that's nice. now be quiet. i don't think you're gonna find how annoyed i'll be tomorrow if i don't get enough sleep very cute.”

"but you're wrong," his turn to huff this time. "you're always cute, don't you get it?"

"do you live to embarrass me?" you groan, squirming.

"perhaps," he laughs, adjusting you both as he retreats from your neck, your eyes meeting his. they're the ocean you waded in earlier, the clear and inviting summer sky. you could spend forever in them. "but you don't mind though, do you? you love me, after all. like i love you." ah. those last three words fall from his lips like a reverent prayer, one he recites daily, with determination to prove his words. he's got you there, disarming you in a way no other person is able to. he says this whenever he can. because he makes sure you hear just how much he admires you, and because he knows you'll always respond the same way.

"yeah, yeah. i love you too," you mumble, and kiss the top of his head.

your heartbeats slow as you drift off together, twin flames flickering steadily, softly.

finally started reading sunrise on the reaping and here are my thoughts so far :))

"Tag! Your it!"

"...can we play something else?" huffs Tuk, her tail swishing back and forth in boredom.

"You don't like tag?" asks Marl scurrying back to their large blue friend.

"I do but we always play it! How about a new game?" The na'vi smiles as she sets her little friend on her shoulder.

"Hmmm...I can't think of anything."

"...neither can I."

"Put your foot in for grounders!" shouts one of their teachers in a nearby clearing.

"...grounders?"

"Grounders."

"So for those who don't know what grounders is, like Tuk and Marl, it's basically tag but the person who is it closes their eyes when on the...well not on the ground since we don't have a playground here." Explains Max.

"If the person who is it isn't on the ground and shouts grounders then whoever is on the ground is it. Now, if you're climbing high you can keep your eyes open until in a safe spot. But if your peeking to cheat then you have to go back onto the ground, that's called broken dishes."

"Why is called broken dishes?"

"...I have no idea. Anywho! If your tagged but really don't wanna be it then me or Kim will be it instead. Right Kim?"

"I prefer to be the hunter rather then the hunted."

"Got it? Okay! Game starts in 5...4..."

The younglings scattered. Some went straight for higher ground so as to have the advantage of sight while others focused on putting as much distance between them and the human male. Tuk and Marl obviously went for the high ground.

Being as it they were on her home planet, Tuk had a clear advantage in growing up in these very forests, she knew all the best ways to climb and scale these massive trees. Marl while being very small was still a ursa, creatures that typically spend the first 3 years of their life in the treetops. The two friends easily made it up 15 feet of the ground in two bounding leaps.

"This'll be so easy."

"Right? We just have to stay up here and we'll never be caught!"

..

"...this is kinda boring now." huffs Tuk. For 10 minutes they've stayed in the same spot watching their teachers chase the other younglings.

they haven't been ignored but were too far off the ground to be reached. The trunk was too smooth and the branches were too high for the humans. After multiple attempts by Max he gave up and focused on the other younglings.

"I find it entertaining! Go Pollix! GO! He's right behind you!" Marl cheered as the tighalax weaved through trees trying to lose the human. With a burst of speed he dropped down onto all fours and ran under a tunnel of roots.

"Yeah! Too bad mister Max!" the human ran even faster but this time to the right, away from the root tunnel. Tuk raised her brow as she watched him run up to a nearby tree and quickly begin climbing up.

"...Pollix get out of there! He's gonna-!"

"GROUNDERS! Got ya Pollix!"

"Darn it!" growled the cub from tunnel.

"Okay I guess it is entertaining." Tuk smiled.

...

By the 20 minute mark more than half the younglings were tired and sitting in the shade with Max. Tuk and Marl still in their spot. Kim and a few others on the ground running around.

"...wanna change spots?"

"Sure, how about that sunny spot over there?"

"Looks good."

"...wait. They're planning something."

"Who?"

"Kim and Piper." Marl pointed and true enough the adult was whispering something to the child while occasionally glancing towards them...while leaving just the smallest bit of space between them. When the girl smiled and nodded Kim grinned as well and together sprinted towards the tree they were on.

But rather than try and climb it as they had thought they would do, Kim turned and squatted against the tree.

Knee, shoulder, then waiting for Kim to stand, and finally using the adults palms as the final step Piper jumped and grabbed the lowest vine.

Piper was now it.

Piper was now scaling the tree like a prolemuris. The human youngling turned and swung her body in ways that the older humans couldn't and thus helped her go higher and higher.

"...We should start climbing."

"Way ahead of you!"

....

Together the humans managed to tag Tuk as she was a larger target than Marl.

With Kim's help Piper could reach the lowest vine or branch and from there she was set. granted she was not as fast as them but she had knocked down vines for others to climb so as to tag Tuk and Marl, the only two haven't been it yet!

A tragedy that must be corrected!!

The trees were no longer safe for the na'vi or ursa nor were the ground as that was the adult's domain.

While Tuk was bigger than the adult and therefore could outpace her she hadn't realized how committed human adults are to games. Even if it was children's game.

Deliberately Kim would go after Marl, the slower of the two, and make a show of almost catching them. Tuk, not wanting her friend to be it would always try to reach Marl first and carry them away. An abrupt stop would be Tuk's only warning before the human turned towards her and lunged.

If that didn't work then she would use the smallest youngling's affections to her advantage. Thrice she had ordered Anwred and Tarlak to hug her legs thus slowing her down.

"...I'm done..."

"Me too..."

"You guys did good, miss Kim hardly ever uses Piper in grounders." smiles Pollix.

"How does she do that? I mean, Spider, my human friend, can do that too but he grew up doing that. So how does Piper do it?"

"Apparently she has other teachers that taught her how to that and is just one of those humans whose better at climbing than others."

"Yeah! She used to climb miss Kim and mister Max all the time! Right onto their shoulders!" chirped Xw.

"She's a little spider monkey alright." said Kim walking over with said spider monkey clinging onto her back smiling rather proudly.

"...darn spider monkey." muttered Marl while Tuk laughed.

just read a jayvik fic where viktor is worried about the prospect of having kids bc of his condition and like. that is SO wrong tbh

viktor's lung condition is a consequence of the grey, which wouldn't be an issue raising a kid in piltover and would barely be an issue raising a kid in modern zaun, and the cause of his mysterious leg and spine condition isn't clear, but the most common theories for real world conditions that i've seen (multiple myeloma or rickets) are either never or rarely hereditary

viktor would be worried about having kids bc he'd fear that JAYCE would SHOOT the child with his HAMMER the second its born

Fact one : Yes he had a wife and a child with her but we don't know why they had a divorce , it could be because he's gay and came out to her 🤔 . ( But also because his gambling addiction , which could be the cause of the resentment there lol . )

Fact two : When he got thrown out of the van with Sae Byeok , he didn't even spare her a single glance even though she was in her underwear , all he cared about was that she stole his money and that he was cold .

Fact three : He was really close with Sang Woo , knew him growing up but got even closer with him during the games , he cared for his personal life like how he helped him get into school and talked frequently with his mother . He liked himmm 😊

Fact four : He also got real close with ' Young il' ( In Ho / frontman ) and trusted him blindly , because he's gay and wanted to kiss him . Thats all , thank you for coming to my ted talk . 🙏

okay but can we talk about 'Mystery of the Urinal Deuce' because this episode is literally EVERYTHING when it comes to Stan and Kyle's friendship. Marsh is playing dumb the whole episode and Kyle is losing his goddamn mind over it. The betrayal. The DRAMA.

Stan in this scene knows damn well that everything is a conspiracy (he admits as much later in the episode and knows that Kyle thinks the same thing). And Kyle knows damn well that Stan out of everyone should also know this, because Stan is the one person he can usually count on to back him up on this type of shit. But Stan is the one messing with him in this episode, so we get these fun moments of Stan letting loose and enjoying pranking his friend Kyle. 

Many see the Assburger's duology as the establishment and turning point of Stan’s character. And while it certainly establishes his clinical depression, I’d argue it in no way establishes either his tendency towards depression/melancholy OR cynicism as both of those have always been present from the beginning (but that’s another discussion for another day. I already basically wrote an essay on that a longgg time ago that maybe I’ll share later).

When it comes to a true  ‘turning point’ for Stan’s character, I think of ‘Raisin’s’ ‘from Season 7, which expands on his already present tendency towards sensitivity and annoyances with general society and evolves it into a deep melancholy and detachment from society (at times bordering on nihilism, something we see more of from Stan post Season 7’s ‘Raisins’ such as in the ‘Douche and Turd’ episode in Season 8 and many other episodes). I don’t see the ‘You’re Getting Old’ episode as the turning point for Stan’s character at all. I see it more as an extension of what I actually view as his turning point episode of ‘Raisin’s’. 

What I love about ‘Mystery of the Urinal Deuce’ is it is a post ‘Raisin’s’ episode where Stan just gets to play around, which is sadly something we just don’t see from Stan post-season 7 as often. 

Kyle has always been the easiest target for Cartman not even necessarily because of his traits, but because of his reactions. He is super reactive to everything, and Stan knows this. Unlike Cartman, Stan respects this and usually stands up for Kyle when this aspect of him is taken advantage of. But at the same time, this doesn’t mean that Stan doesn’t like to tease Kyle at times - because let’s be real; Kyle’s high reactivity would make it so fun to mess with him. And in this episode, Stan takes advantage of that. 

And while usually I hate people taking advantage of Kyle in this way, it is so goddamn refreshing to see Stan just being able to let go of all the heavy shit that’s been so key to his character emotionally post-Season 7 and just play around with his bestie in this episode, something I think that at the core of his character he ultimately just wants to be able to do at the end of the day. you can TASTE the shit-eating grin in his voice. he is having the TIME OF HIS LIFE watching Kyle spiral. stan tries so GODDAMN hard to find happiness throughout the series to no avail, so it’s refreshing the times he succeeds and gets to just actually be himself.

Later on in the episode, Stan is also just able to let loose. His ‘Well dude, maybe we’re just badass, have you ever thought of that?’ later on in the episode is said so nonchalantly with him literally smirking, and it cracks me up every time as he tries to appease Kyle’s doubts. He is thoroughly enjoying pranking his friend. 

like yes give me more of this next season?? give me more of stan actually getting to be a kid and mess around with his best friend instead of drowning in existential dread 24/7? please and thank you?
