My Hero Macadamia Nut Is A Manga That Exists 👍🏾

Of all the shonen manga I’ve read, I feel like DanDaDan is the one series that manages to capture the feel of Marvel and DC Comics. Sure, My Hero Macadamia Nuts features actual superheroes and most shonen feature overpowered heroes, but DanDaDan captures the insanity of Marvel and DC.

We have aliens, alternate dimensions, spirits, monsters, cryptids, and giant robots. It’s not that much different from the MCU going from The Avengers to Doctor Strange to Guardians of the Galaxy and then to WandaVision. In fact, the alien invasion arc in which every main character was involved was pretty much Infinity War/Endgame.

Also, I looked back at my older DanDaDan posts. In retrospect, it feels appropriate that a lot of my comparisons have been superhero-based (I compared Vamola to Superman, Okarun to The Flash and Ghost Rider, Momo to Kamala Khan).

Let's talk gender expression, awful haircuts and realisation of who I am! I came out as gender fluid approximately around the age of the third picture above- and I got an awful haircut to match it, but at the time I felt like THE gender vibe; I was 13, or so, and didn't realise I looked like I'd had a fistfight with a weed whacker. It was a stepping stone however, for me to discover who I was; after this time I started to experiment with my look, name and pronouns, leaning more towards he/they and slowly changing my name from Jaimee to Jai and or James- small steps, I know, but crucial ones in me realising my dead name no longer really fit me as a person. James was a family name after all. Finding myself wasn't always glamorous, the look wasn't always particularly handsome or pretty, it was colour the tips of my hair with sharpie markers and conditioner until my hair had a distinctly petrol-and-macadamia type stench or cutting it with a cheap, disposable razor which ended up giving me hair reminiscent of the early 2000s emo scene (which I totally was, even if I only saw 6 years of the 'early 2000s!'). I would hack off chunks, flatten my chest with cheap Duct Tape and wear boxers I stole from my dad in order to feel some semblance of who I was, using makeup to poorly build cheek bones and eyebrows so I could look like my hero at the time, Brendon Urie (God, that aged poorly..) In time I got creative, I learned that my parents wouldn't let me get a 'real boy's haircut' so I'd have to improvise; here came the next 6 months of beanie hats and ponytails pulled over to create a 'boy fringe' which, in retrospect, was giving more Justin Beiber than Emo Quartet, but that all chained when I turned 16 and... Got to dye my hair for the first time!! It was the greatest experience for my gender to date!! My mother bought me midnight blue hairdye for my 16th birthday and helped me dye it; I looked in the mirror at my fairly short ish, dark blue hair and I saw it. I saw him, stood staring back at me with tears in his eyes. I saw ME. I told my girlfriend, at the time anyway, straight away and she accepted me with open arms- I think she was expecting the genderfluid-to-trans masc timeline, which funnily enough he followed in 2022 during lockdown. Lockdown dug its claws into my gender and expression quite deeply; while at home with my mother, father and two very young siblings I came to experiment with my gender a lot more, dressing in more masculine clothes and cutting my hair off for 'sake of ease', or that's what I told my parents anyway- they believed it too, surprisingly. I went through college having to somewhat pretend I was just a feminine man, I was exhausted and on the brink of suicide, as most people my age at the time were, and went by Eden because it seemed more palatable to the others around me- didnt stop me being picked on, but it wasn't by students... It was my own teacher! Shout out to Miss Dunsby! Then I dropped out of college. I picked up a shitty little cafe job as a barista and linecook, cooking meals, making coffees, pretending I gave half a shit about a joke I'd heard over and over again; I dyed my hair neon green and used my pay checks to get it cut SHORT short for the first time- I looked hella fine, in my opinion, but I was also starting to realise something.. Maybe I had been right the first time, because I didn't feel like a man all the time. Back to the drawing board... One shaved head and a job at a gay bar later, I started using the art of drag, performing as a female persona, to realise that I was Masc-Agender, like a boyish presenting genderless person. Easy enough, I suppose. I started wearing makeup, being myself and wearing whatever I damn pleased, uncaring of social cues and rules, I was me. I was happy. I AM happy. If there is anything you can take away from this, once you find the part of yourself you can express your feelings, thoughts and emotions with, go wild!! I did and it made realising my truth so much easier!

Group info

The Patrons

The patrons were baked by a young right after the five beasts were imprisoned but they never got to be ancient hero’s since they had to take care of cookies who survived the beasts

Each one of them has two soul jams so if they started showing and corruption one soul jam could be removed to lessen the corruption or on the off chance they get fully corrupt, half of their power

The patrons live in a secret kingdom in beast yeast with generations of cookies how survived the beasts

These patrons are Bubbling Oil, Scorched Garlic, Grilled Tomato, Shimmering Onion, Adele Penguin and Powdered Basil

Powdered Basil was the first and so far the only one to get corrupt. His replacement for the time being is Adele Penguin

The Entertainer’s

A trio of cookies that consists of Bubbly Milkshake, Dark Apple and Blackberry Shade

BlackBerry Shade is the one who found the group but the other two weren’t really willing to be part of said group

While Dark Apple and Bubbly Milkshake don’t get along, they both agree that the constant noise of the radio and circus acts are not fun

But let’s not forget the one who saw Blackberry Shades raise since the start… she says that it is something you should respect if you enjoy life

The Nomads

While these cookies aren’t necessarily a group there are certain cookies who fall in this category

Two of these Cookies are Starfruit Milkshake and Snake Tooth who will travel everywhere except Beast Yeast

One who stays in the desert is Cinnamon Spider since he’s a bounty hunter

Burnt Caramel travels to places that have a high amount of light magic usage for unknown reasons

Three cookies who stay by The Dragons Valley is Rex Cookie, Sugary Jello and Red Fruit, except Red Fruit will travel to cities, villages and kingdoms outside of The Dragons Valley

Adenosine Cookie is a traveler who tends to linger around the outskirts of kingdoms, towns and villages, some believe they are a grim reaper but that’s not true.

The Dragons Village

This village by The Dragons Valley was founded by The Great Orange-Red Dragon who is also known as Barbecue “Dragon”

This village has several cookie living there, one of them is Gran-Berry who does work for Dark Enchantress and bakes cookies on the side

Now two cookies who hold significance to The Great Orange-Red Dragon is Tabby Cat Cookie and Minty Snail who were childhood friends of the dragon

But one day an odd “cookie” appeared, claiming her name was White Flower Cookie. Now she would have been interrogated severely if she wasn’t blind… but some swear that she’s more than a simple “Cookie”

But let’s not forget about the helpful BBQ Bot! They go around the village to help others! (They don’t actually help, just make it seem like they did so they don’t short circuit-)

The Bugs

A fairly new group that has a plethora of bug type cookies on an island that rests of the coast of Beast Yeast

Some cookies who have moved away from the island is Cinnamon Spider and Minty Snail either because there wasn’t many job opportunities or they moved because of family

Currently the cookies that pop up around the shore line are Pink Mantis Cookie, Blushing Snail, Emperor Caterpillar Cookie, Peach Novius and Leaf Sheep Slug

But these cookies have claimed to see a wolf like cookie prancing the beaches of Beast Yeast… this cookie has been known as Wild Basil

But recently, Leaf Sheep Slugs ex has showed up, apparently his name is Blazing Spice? And he’s a little deranged? Well uh that’s cool ig-

I swear I’m normal. Don’t mind that I have a minor obsession with bugs

The H2-Bros

A group of teen that absolutely despise each other. Do they stick together by force or by choice? The world might never know… but what we do know that they traveled around together to just bully people. Carbonated Water Cookie is probably the most tame, but also the one to get bullied the most. Sugary Punch is the ring leader with Fresh Juice being good at making sure they don’t die

But nowadays they live in a small village with Burnt Macadamia as their caretaker and an odd cookie as their friend

The outlaws

Two men walk among side each other as the blistering heat at the sandy winds cover their tacks. Snake Skin and Weeping Begonia.

Rumors state that the two met in one of the very sand storms they use to hide in…

The witch of the woods

A man by the Name of Purple Mold rests in the woods of beast yeast, studding magic and herbs, he’s grown quite fond of a certen Wild Basil, well that’s a lie. If you ask Purple Mold what his opinion is on Wild Basil, he will tell you that “it’s like babysitting a toddler, a very annoying toddler.”

The lovers

On a coastal town in the snowy region, two cookies were in love, but alas, this was a one sided love, Burnt Macadamia felt his heartbreak at the cruel word he heard. But with a heavy heart he accepted this rejection, but a small part of him still yearns for her love…

On the other hand, Irukandji Jellyfish Cookie is focused on vengeance. After her village was denied help from the Dark Cacao royal advisor, she swore Vengeance. Seeking out strength to take the throne from that spineless king
