Maybe I’m just a boomer or a hater, but something about getting comments on ao3 which are just a subtle advertisement for fanart commissions just really rubs me the wrong way.
Like, I understand that people making art for a living have to grind, and part of that can be having to cold call, but the idea of doing that in the ao3 comment section?
Especially bc (at least the ones I’ve gotten) have started just as a really nice thoughtful comment. When you think about it, those really nice comments are HOW fanfic writers get paid essentially. There’s no real legal way to make money writing fic, BUT of course that isn’t the deal for fanart.
So coming into my comments essentially going, “here, I paid you in your preferred currency: heartfelt feedback. Now will you come pay me in mine: several hundred dollars.” Can kinda turn the whole thing sour.
Obviously I’m never gonna be mean to someone in my comment section, but it really is kind of a bummer to get to the end of what seems like just a really nice comment just to realize “oh, they wrote it so I’ll consider giving them money:/.”

i have done commissions in the past on other platforms, but for now i am not taking them here. i'm not saying that i never will, because sometimes life is.. you know. Like That™️. but for now i'm steering clear of it to try and keep my passion up! 👍
#i also frankly think- and i don't say this to be rude- but i think that most folks in fandom would think my work is overpriced#because i charge somewhat more professional rates. still not a living wage. still not what you could get as a non-freelancer#(deleted a lot of rambling about prices here but if anyone does want to hear it i can go into it sometime)#kirby characters are generally far more simplistic so it would be a whole different pricing bracket#but i think expectations in fandom seem different to an original content community where people are doing this for a living#the one person i've commissioned in fandom i was so shocked at the rate i paid like... 500% what they asked me.#(that is not hyperbole. i 'tipped' 400% and it still felt like the bare minimum. you *must* tip undercharging artists.)#anyway. i have a lot of thoughts about monetising my art but at the moment this is still a no. i'm sorry!#i do really genuinely appreciate it though! if i ever open them i'll be sure to post here about it!#i'd also like to do art trades a little more regularly in the future (not rn) ; so there's that too? but we'll see. again i'll post about i#starflungs personal tag

Might have gotten myself a spot in the crusty ww2 era little plane maintenance hangar I've been eyeing <3
Wont make much, but it's gonna be lots more enjoyable than the big jet engine shop, or any of the airlines. At least I know exactly what I'm getting myself into with this. Only issue is the flight school with my favorite little 172 is a 3 minute walk from the maintenance hangar. I would be in extreme danger every time the sky zoomies start itching >w>
#might even just start renting a hangar to do maintenance for pilot friends in the area#who wanted to exchange maintenance for flight instruction hours#then get the ultra pup flying get my solo endorsement and awaaaayy i go <3#zero downsides to this :]#i say as if i dont have but $400 bucks left in my bank account rn lol#but after 3 of years playing with little planes i can get my inspection rating and legit just chill forever#all the aiplane inspectors are old af and retiring rn. theres a fuck ton of little planes down here and very few#people able to do their faa required annual inspections#do 4 maybe 5 inspections a month and do fuck all the rest of my time? yah i think i would love that<3

Maybe I shouldn't have tried to do the kill 1,000 Scaldra troops in one hell scrub mission because I was straight up Suffering
#warframe posting#I know hell scrub plays a bit differently than normal survival but... can we please get an increased drop rate on-#-the life support from enemies because for the last 10-20 mins I was running on 20-30 percent with only one scrubber to use each time#BUT I did it so that's all that matters#secondary fortify helped save my ass a good chunk of times it's probably one of my favorite arcanes#ALSO#later on in the mission the scrubbers can spawn like 400 meters away and they become infested and it just#it ruins the flow sometimes because I like to stay focused in one area for survival missions really#I also need to finish steel path circuit; pathos clamps farming for the orokin catalyst; my archon hunt; and the 1999 calendar b4 sunday#bleh

Man I really hadn't gotten as far in the manga as I thought. I just finished ep 267 of shippuden and it's gearing up for the Gaara vs his dad fight, which I remember being where I dropped off in the manga. Bc I'd been keeping up with new chapters for a while, but with all the war talk... idk it just didn't capture 14 year old me that much. So I stopped keeping up.
Now, though. I find all the war tactics interesting hfkshdk it has me wanting to play a fire emblem game again. Hmmmmmm
#speculation nation#fanny watches naruto#so this means when i last watched naruto i got farther than when i last read naruto.#bc it was. ykno i dont entirely remember. but i'll remember when i get there.#maybe something to do with the raikage? or killer b??? i think after naruto and b find out about the fighting and rush out to join.#which supports the killer b one. OH i also rememeber tsunade fighting. right around then.#i'll recognize it when i get there. i know it wasnt Too deep in the war.#oh actually it might be another 30 or so episodes before im caught up to where i was in the manga hfksbfnd#bcus looking thru the episodes list it says 297 is when gaara leads the attack against the previous kage#OH ep 282 is when tsunade and the raikage enter battle to prevent naruto and killer bee from joining#THATS probably where i dropped off from watching. which is pretty damn close actually!!!!#so yeah depending on how things go i might have read further than i watched. been a good while tho lol#after i reach those two points it'll be entirely new territory for me. which is really exciting!!!!#i know some things from just being in the fandom for. literally over half my life.#but im excited to actually see them go down for myself. and finally be a naruto fan that's FINISHED the anime!!!!#still got a good 233 episodes until then. but when youve wayched 267 episodes of shippuden#plus a good 140 of original. aka a total of over 400 episodes (phew!) then 233 doesnt actually sound like That much.#it'll probably still take me a few months. ive been working on this rewatch since. may#so 400 episodes in 3 months. though it was summer so i had more free time. i dont expect to watch at the same rate as before.#still!!! probably by the end of the year i'll have fully watched naruto. it's exciting!!!
