I'm not sure what's gonna end first: the series or my fucking life.

As much as I love Saezuru, it's gone on for so long that it's starting to get old literally and figuratively. You know, I wouldn't even be mad if Yoneda Kou ended the series by killing Yashiro off in 6. 7 is still well-written to a point and the BLCD did deserve to rank second AGAIN in chil-chil 2022, but I'm not sure about the future of this series (it wasn't nominated in 2023 tho which is one of the few good things about 2023's).

I say a lot of things, but I'm still invested in vol. 7 & 8.

I don't know who I'm jealous of, BUT THAT SHOULD BE ME! This scene is in vol 8, not 7, but I wanted to include it anyway.

I do agree that Saezuru portrayal of the whole yakuza deal is the realest 'cause happy endings over there are quite rare, but this isn't a novel that comes out in one go. Doesn't help that June is ass. I've heard from several friends who've read the latest releases that it feels like it's lost its way and that just makes me sad. I'm still hopeful tho.🤧

As I've already stated, this placed second in 2022's awards. I mean, it's Saezuru. Frontier doesn't spare a penny for it lmao. All the major characters are voiced, and they managed to bring the A-listers back again. Sometimes, I forget that Saezuru is actually based on a manga whenever I listen to the BLCDs 'cause the production is just that good.

Shingaki slayed as usual. I've said this many times before, but no matter how bad or how well he does in another role, he will always be Yashiro. I just came from Tsunaida and we're in the middle of a Rei event in Nu:carnival, so I would expect myself to adjust to Yashiro, but I didn't need any of that lmao. Yashiro is truly Shingaki's magnum opus. I'm not at all surprised that he placed 3rd best seiyuu for Yashiro. Deserved.

Speaking of Nu:carnival, I will forever be obsessed with Yashiro's relationship with the other characters aside from Doumeki. Nanahara's voiced by my one true love, Okitsu, but like Yashiro, I love him for his character and not his voice. It is nice having the other veterans in here with him, too. The slut trio is complete with Daddy Complex SatoTaku, Boss Ass Chaser Okitsu, and Damel in Distress Shingaki. #BLESS I want Kamiya to end up with Nanahara.

I haven't heard Wacchan in years HAHAHAHAHA. His Doumeki is still amazing as always. My issues with the story aside, I'm really looking forward to his "break" in vol. 8. EEEEEEE

Special mention to my Ryuuzaki and Miyake Kenta who made their comebacks here too. I missed him so much! LMAO

The BLCD is pretty accurate to the... magazine at least, but June does sell the translated tanko (fortunately). Like the previous installments, reading the manga while listening to the BLCD was so smooth because it was so accurate. Now 7 does end in a cliffhanger, so I don't really advise listening to it if you still don't have 8. But if cliffhangers aren't an issue for you, then break a leg!

This is my first Haikyuu! fic, so it might not be the best, but I hope you guys do like it! ✎ Summary: After years of being away from your family due to your work as a professional volleyball player and tension with your youngest sibling, Tooru, you finally return to see him play. Maybe now you could be a better sibling than before, if he accepts, that is.

🏆 As the first born to your parents, you were put on a pedestal; one to be the role model for your soon-to-come younger siblings. You did exactly as your parents wanted, becoming a fantastic volleyball player at the private high school Aoba Johsai.

🏆 You were known for your fantastic spikes and serves, but you were known among your team for your kindness and expert recovery speed. Plans spinning in a matter of seconds as the game progressed, impressing not only your fellow players, but your coaches as well.

🏆 Because of the close connection you had to your teammates, it was hard to stop playing, but you did make sure they kept up with their practicing. After graduating, you were requested to play for the MSBY Black Jackals.

🏆 "Over 2 hours away?!" Your mother exclaimed, her eyes wide from your words. You nodded, looking at the doorway. This was news you wanted to run past your mother first, not wanting to upset your younger siblings.

🏆 "Yes." You replied. "I know it's a long ways away, Mom. But, it's the MSBY Black Jackals! A professional team! In the V. League nonetheless! Who knows when I'll get another opportunity like this!" You said, making your mother sigh.

🏆 "Are you sure you want to move all the way there? In the Osaka prefecture?"

🏆 "Unless you want me driving 10 and a half hours everyday, I think it'd be smarter." You said, a slight smirk on your face. Your mother just breathed a chuckle as she looked into your eyes and hugged you, to which you assured her you'd be fine. You had an old friend Nara that said he'd help out with scoping you a place, and until then you could stay with him and his sister.

🏆 She nodded, tears threatening to fall from her eyes as she hugged you. "If it's something you really want... then it's your choice."

🏆 You smiled back, embracing your mother tightly as you replied. "Thank you, Mom."

🏆 "Mommy?" A tiny voice said from the halls. There, standing with his hand gripping the stuffed red panda you gave him for his birthday that year, was your youngest sibling, Tooru. Tooru rubbed his eyes, it was an hour past his bedtime, but he couldn't help but come and see what was happening in the living room.

🏆 "Hey, buddy. Whatcha doing awake?" You said, kneeling down to pick your your little brother. He blinked at you and hugged his panda closer to his chest, "I heard you and Mommy talking and wanted to know what you were talking about."

🏆 "We'll talk about that in the morning, honey." Your mother said, kissing her youngest on his forehead as you bounced him lightly. "How about you go get some more sleep?"

🏆 "B-but-"

🏆 "Do you wanna watch Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest?" You asked, pointing to the stack of VHS tapes you had nearby. Tooru's eyes lit up and he nodded, remembering how much he loved the movie.

🏆 You grabbed the film and nodded to your mother, a silent gesture of gratitude and for her to get some rest. She nodded back and walked to her room, allowing you to pop in the tape and lay down with your brother beside you, his favorite moving playing as you both snored.

🏆 The next month, that was just a memory. One that Tooru wondered would happen again.

🏆 Chuckling as your young daughter walks with his mother down the street, memories passed through your head. It's been years since you had come to the Miyagi prefecture; being more focused on your career and life as a family-man in Osaka.

🏆 Airi, your wife of a couple years, held your daughter, Keiko, happily spoke gibberish as she walked with her mother and father in tow. "I hope she's not being of any issue!" You said to your wife, lightly gripping underneath your child's arms to lift her into your arms.

🏆 "No. She's just being a little stinker." Airi said back, lightly tickling her child's face to make her giggle. You laughed gently as she smiled and leaned onto your chest, tiny hands gripping your jacket as your wife held your hand and walked with you.

🏆 You looked around, seeing a store, one that you and your mother would go to before picking up your brother and sister from primary school. You just remember thanking the person behind the register and looking with your mother for stuff your siblings would love for their nearing birthdays.

🏆 A notification then popped up on your phone, to which you gave Airi your child and looked. There, on your lockscreen, was a message from your mother.

Mom: I heard you're coming to Miyagi today. Going to see Tooru's game against Karasuno? Me: Yes, Mom! Are you attending? Mom: Sadly, I can't. I got stuck at work, same with your sister. Don't worry, Takeru is being watched by a babysitter. Me: Alright, Airi and Keiko are with me now. We're staying at a hotel a couple miles from your home, just so you know. Mom: What for? You could've just stayed with Tooru and I! I'd be wonderful to see you, Airi, and my granddaughter again! Me: Don't worry, Mom. We're gonna stop by as much as we can. At least, before my game in two days.

🏆 Your mother's texts then began to slow, allowing you to walk in the hotel's lobby, grab the room key, and head up with your luggage behind you with your brother-in-law, and fellow player on the MSBY Black Jackals, Isamu, coming out from the two cars behind you.

🏆 By the time you got all unpacked, Isamu told your wife you'd both be out for a while, attending a nearby game to catch up with some old friends. She just nodded and kissed you goodbye, allowing your daughter to hug you and her uncle before you left as well.

🏆 Isamu got into the passenger seat of the car and you behind the wheel. He asked if you were excited to see Tooru after the past three years of being apart, and you just sighed, eyes staying on the road as you responded with a dulled tone. "I'm not sure... we didn't exactly leave on good terms..."

🏆 "Y/N, dude, I'm sure he's calmed down in the last- what- 36 months?"

🏆 "That's what I'm hoping."

🏆 A volleyball slammed on the ground; the first point awarded to Shiratorizawa. "Not surprising." Isamu said, "They always end up with the first point."

🏆 "They do?" You asked. He nodded, "Yep. My nephew goes there, talks about how great his team is all the time. It's practically all he talks about... well, that and Karasuno's manager."

🏆 "You guys need to get that boy out of his shell. If he keeps acting like a stalker, he's gonna end up being a stalker."

🏆 "Well aware of that." He said, rolling his eyes and sighing. Blinking out of his trance, Isamu looked back down at the court. His eyes eventually caught sight of a light-brown haired boy, his Aoba Johsai and number shouting at him who he was: Tooru Oikawa.

🏆 "I think I found your little brother." He said, pointing towards the volleyball captain. You saw how he stood, how he held the ball, and how he glared at the ball, keeping track of it. Like how you taught him...

🏆 "His positioning is so much like Y/N Oikawa's! It's as if he taught him personally!" You heard someone say. "Yeah right! As if one of the best volleyball players would have time for a bastard like him." Another male said.

🏆 Your eyebrows furrowed in anger, how DARE they disrespect your baby brother in such a manner! It's just dishonorable. You felt bad for whomever raised those disrespectful roaches.

🏆 As the game progressed, you saw angry Tooru began to become. His eyebrows furrowing while hie enemy, Ushijima Wakatoshi, remained almost completely composed; eyebrows slightly dipped because of exhaustion of working hard.

🏆 You began to worry. You knew how your brother thought; he wanted to be the best. He envied everyone better than him naturally, thinking he needed to be the best, just to prove to himself that he was just as amazing as his older brother.

🏆 "Tooru! You need to get some rest! This constant practicing will only worsen your health!" You yelled. Tooru just scoffed, tossing the volleyball back into the air and began setting the ball over and over again.

🏆 You were upset. You had this talk with him before; he didn't need to be better than you. He was perfect the way he was, he wasn't one of the best youth players for nothing after all!

🏆 "Tooru!" You cried, "Answer me!"

🏆 "Shut up!" He yelled back, setting the ball backwards and towards you. Your eyes widened as it hit the window of the house and shattered it. Looking back at your brother, you glared, eyes empty as you balled your fists, only releasing them when they popped.

🏆 "Fine then. Good luck at Aoba Johsai." You said, walking back inside the house to gather your newly-pregnant wife and notify your mother of what happened. Then you left. No other words were spoken between the brothers. Broken. A bond once so heavenly, now so cursed.

🏆 "Y/N!" Isamu said, his hand waving in front of your face. You looked up, taking a quick breath in as you stared down at the score. Shiratorizawa had scored more on Aoba Johsai. This was the final point: the one to secure the game.

🏆 "Come on, Tooru. Get your head out of your ass..." You mumbled, nails being chewed on as you heard names being yelled as the ball was passed.

🏆 Then... the sound of it hitting the ground silenced the entire gymnasium. Who scored...?

🏆 Shiratorizawa.

🏆 Ushijima was just fast enough to hit it between two blockers. His monsterous strength coming out with that single hit.

🏆 "Impressive." Isamu whispered, his eyes wide in admiration at the teen's effort to win.

🏆 The crowd cheered while you saw Aoba Johsai's team look at the ground, or at their captain. Tooru looked downwards, shame overtook him. How could he have lost again?! How... did he just... lose again?

🏆 "Oikawa. Someone wants to talk to you." Coach Mizoguchi said, looking at the team's captain with tired eyes. Tooru merely nodded and stood up, walking away from the bus and towards where his Coach told him to go.

🏆 Looking up to prevent walking into a wall, Tooru noticed a familiar figure. They stayed facing the window, their phone to their ear as they said goodbye and that they loved someone. Tooru thought they looked familiar, but who exactly was this guy?

🏆 After turning around, he knew exactly who this man was; the brother he turned away from three years ago. Right before he entered Aoba Johsai High, all the support he gave up, and the ambitious boy just shoved it off like nothing.

🏆 "Hey, Tooru." You said, hand coming up a wave. Tooru looked at you with wide eyes, he couldn't believe it. Why were you here? It's been years, why show up after that much time.

🏆 "You did great down there." You continued awkwardly, trying to push the boy out of his shell. He just scoffed, though this one was a lot sadder than the one he let out the last time. "We lost... how did he do 'great'?"

🏆 "Believe me; you can go great and still lose." You said, a smile on your face as he looked at his feet and shuffled, nervously waiting for a scolding. "I'm not here to scold you or yell at you for what happened back then."

🏆 "Why not? I was being a jerk. I deserve it."

🏆 "No, you don't. Tooru, I know me moving all the way to the Osaka prefecture was hard on you. I tried coming back as often as I could to help you, to mold you to be what you wanted to be."

🏆 "You only came back a few times a year, you call that as often as you could?"

🏆 "Tooru... being famous isn't always fun. I've had talk show appearances, movie and TV premieres I've been forced into attending, hell- now I have to attend meetings for new products being made for the sport world. If I had the choice; I'd take being home over this."

🏆 "Yeah, right." Tooru said, his arms crossing as he looked into your eyes. Tears began to form as he angrily looked at you and yelled back before you could speak back.

🏆 "You're the Y/N Oikawa! One of the best volleyball players that Japan has ever had! Who would ever want to give such a thing up?!"

🏆 "Someone who loves his family and just wants to see his younger brother happy."

🏆 "I'd be happy if you just left me alone."

🏆 You furrowed your brows, grabbing your brother by his shoulders and forcing him to look at you in your matching eyes. "Leaving you alone is a mistake I can never take back, but it is a wrong that I want to make right."

🏆 You then wrapped your arms around your younger brother, embracing him as you began to tear up yourself. The only sounds in the empty hallway was Tooru's sobs into your athletic jacket, one that had the acronym 'MSBY' on the back.

🏆 Tooru sniffed and apologized, only for you to smile and pull away from the hug, looking at him dead in the eyes.

🏆 "You're one of the best siblings I could've asked for. I love ya', Ru-Ru."

🏆 He smiled, whipping his eyes as he replied, "Love ya' too, Big Bro."
