bit of a tangent, didn't wanna derail the last post I reblogged but

I had INTENSE chest pain the other day, and searched to see what symptoms I should keep an eye out for. I found a Healthline article that looked useful, about how to distinguish a heart attack from symptoms of other problems. I clicked it.

A privacy form popped up. I clicked "deny all tracking" or the equivalent.

Healthline navigated me to a new page, informed me without letting them track me I could not view that article, but I could read one of ten articles they'd pre-chosen and they hoped that would convince me it was worth sharing my data.

That's so incredibly dark. I've hit paywalls obviously, but never a privacy wall like that. And it being on THAT article on a health website was incredibly disturbing to me.

Surveillance capitalism is champing at the bit to get even worse!

The tiny little hiccups I've had switching to Linux have been almost charming compared to the stupidity of Windows. What do you mean my Bluetooth just... works now? No second long lag? All it took for me to map my stylus to my tablet was three lines in the terminal? Games run better? I've switched back to my Windows boot once since the install and that was to check a setting, at this rate I may as well uninstall it.

fixed a small inconvenient site issue that i'd been stressing about for a bit. i was worried it was going to cause issues with reading new updates but i've found a solution :]

I'm still dusting off the cobwebs on my art accounts after a few years of burying myself in online work to build up my indie author job. My most recent comments/donations on Ko-Fi from 3-4 years ago made me feel all warm and fuzzy. People were super kind and had no idea just HOW bad things were for me in 2020. If you were one of them, thank you so much! 🥹

A-hem, okay, on to all of the crazy links. I revamped my Ko-Fi, Patreon and Instagram (I finally got the login back again!), and I made a shiny new Threads account if anybody wants to follow me over there. Oh, and I have a YouTube channel, although it has no videos yet! I plan to stick speedpaints on there, so if watching those sounds fun, follow it and you'll get notified as soon as I upload. ♥

It feels SO GOOD to get back to making art on a more regular basis. I'm so, so happy that Tumblr still has folks active on it, because it's basically my fandom home online. 🥰

I want to know how other people think and I can't just submit questionnaires to everyone #so it's nice when I get to see people's thoughts because then I can see how other people think and compare it to how I think.#I love people watching but it's harder on the internet because there's this layer of artificial aesthetic polluting all the data #this layer of performance. of polish. of edited appearances.#I just wanna see how other people behave. I learn by watching.#so it's nice to be able to click on someone's profile and see all their pics and posts and likes and comments and groups and friends and sh #because then i get to see an entire chunk of someone's life and social interactions all linked to a central hub. and that's so fucking cool #like... so much data to gather. so much to look at and think about. it's so fascinating.#and originally I didn't vibe with it but I've gotten more familiar with the setup and have developed a method for navigating the site.#so now I'm just opening up 20 million tabs to check out for later every time I see something new. What if Metal literatally just saw Eggman working on Tails Doll and assumed without proof that they were created for him? Me* spends a lot of time creating an excel sheet that reuses the exact same layout as my colleague excel sheet (so you can copy past data from one sheet to the other) while making it more esthetically appealing, making sure there are no weird cell division, making sure the conditioning are done properly,and adding extra colones at the end for new data relevant for other users.

My colleague: it wasn’t practical for me to use so I deleted it (!) and created a new one without any kind of formatting, conditioning and without the extra colones for the other users.

Me:

#personal #work related #it’s the “taking the time to delete your work” rather than just making another proposal” that’s killing me #she did that because she did not want to loose time on the two or three weird data set that would have required her to copypast on their ow #and because she did not want to learn to line wrap in excel #and yeah it’s full of weird cell division that makes that sheet a nightmare to navigate to get data #never understimated how people can disregard your work and sabotage you if you let them do it
