I told myself I wasn't going to draw any rooks until I see the CCs or when the game comes out but here we are.

I've already thought of a backstory for him too. It's super angsty! I really hope playing as a Tal-vashoth is possible and being in the Shadow Dragon as one too. I need my Rook to bite at every hand that reaches out for him when Veilguard starts until he meets a certain Nercomancy Professor who can see the all too familiar signs of a man in grief.

Probably the first of few starter calls for the year 2024. BUUUT I'm almost done with my drafts and got a couple of nercomers so I figured why not. Like this for a starter, ranging from one-liners to probably multiple paragraphs. Really depends on the state of mind and muse.

Also please specify which muse you'd want me to send or I'll really pick someone at random, crossover and whatnot are always welcomed here so feel free to pick someone that's not even in your muse' verse. ALSO please give me the specification of which muse I'm writing for if you're a multi too :D

I'm very curious about how Weslyn works and the different types of magic the citizens have. What kind of government do they have? What type of magic is legal for the citizens to use? Do they get imprisoned or get banished if they get caught using illegal magic? What is the town's backstory?

How did Ozwald and Xander's friendship develop throughout the story? Did they have some sort of rivalry when they first met, but they grew to like each other as time went on?

What's going on with Merlin? That guy looks very shady.

Weslyn's government consists of The Wizard King and The Council of Wizards. The council is made of academics, famous duelists, and important community members, they tend to be voted in. The king is usually the son of the king before him. They make and vote on the laws of the city.

Weslyn is the first and largest wizard city, home to the first Wizard King and a safe haven for magic users in its past. Now it's become a hub for wizards everywhere, with some of the best schools of magic there as well as the biggest arena for wizard duel competitions, to the point many fights are televised.

Since Weslyn is so popular the magic many use is extremely diverse, from element wielders to mind magicians, they've got a lot. Element magic is the most common, it's very easy and helpful when looking for work, Healing is also very common, specializing in different aspects of the body in order to help sick and hurt people. There are various specialites that also help in specific jobs and that could be a whole list. But it's one of the most diverse cities in terms of what magic people use.

So you have a range for what's allowed, and most magic is allowed, you're just going to need a permit if that magic is considered "forbidden" by most, you need to complete paperwork, get interviewed, take an ethics class etc. This tends to happen for certain spells or whole classes of magic (nercomancy, hypnosis, etc)

Now some spells are illegal, usually these ones are dangerous/hard to reverse like curses that come from ancient spells, creating life without a license, rising more than two of the dead, chaos magic, etc. And if you do that, depending on the severity, you will either be barred from magic completely for a set time or be sent to jail. There are magic-dulling cuffs that are put on all who break the law, as well as all of their magic items taken.

Ozwald and Xander's first meeting wasn't great because Xander was quite unimpressed when Ozwald showed he was an illusionist, as many consider it silly parlor tricks and not serious magic. However he was willing and enthusiatic to explain how things worked in Weslyn to Ozwald (the town he and Calliope were from originally was much quieter/had less of an emphasis on magic careers, so Weslyn is a culture shock to both). Over time, and especially after Ozwald found out about Xander's curse, they started to get along quite well, and their friendship really solidifies after Xander has a rematch with an old rival, and Ozwald's "parlor tricks" ended up helping him in the long run. Xander even buys a gala outfit for Ozwald (they're all gonna go to the Wizard King's gala later :>)

I talked about him a lot in this ask, but I'll just say this: Merlin has more skeletons in his closet than he'd like to admit, but he has a reputation, and he can't lose that.

I think the only way Arcane Viktor could become like his counterpart is if he thought Jayce had betrayed him.

In the original League Lore, part of the reason things are so bitter between them is that Giopara didn't do anything when his Viktor was exiled. (My own interpretation of that is that his inaction was more damning than actual condemnation and rejection.) So if something like that had happened, I could absolutely see Arcane Viktor going down a similar route. (Hell, since they're so much closer in Arcane and their bond is so much stronger (to the point of being literal Multiversal Soulmates)... I think it'd break him even more, and push him even further down that path.)

(The sad thing is, I could see S1 Talis being manipulated into making such a decision-like, if he'd been convinced he could give Viktor a lighter sentence (exile instead of Stillwater), if they took advantage of his emotional state after Cassandra's death, or even if he was also paralyzed with indecision and couldn't bring himself to vote... It's not likely, true, but it's also not impossible. It's a painful What Could Have Been.)

All that said, I still think they'd reconcile and make amends much more quickly than their counterparts, due to how much deeper their connection runs. (It's still take a while-but it wouldn't be an entire decade like it was for their League counterparts.)

if jayce betrayed him to the same extent Giopara did i could see him go down a similar path, and even start on the removal of emotions thing. Viktor's machine herald transformation always depends on Jayce's actions (as does the Defender of Tomorrow, but that part comes more in response to the Machine Herald).

the problem is. Talis is a loyal loyal bitch and i dont think he would ever exile viktor unless it was part of a bigger plan. like i get in season one act 2/3 he being kind of an asshole and had the moral backbone of hot pudding but he still very much ready to commit corruption and crimes to protect the people he loves. like when marcus mentioned Caitlyn using his name to get VI out of prison to try and catch her up, and he immediately yeah no i did that. dont even worry about that ill take care of it. or the fact he kicked his mentor off the council just to give Viktor a shot at survival. If viktor got exiled i think talis would at best follow him down and at worst do everything in his power to cause a massive political hellstorm.

and ok sure yeah i could understand the idea that him betraying Viktor with exile if we only had his s1 characterization. but with s2 we get a full scope of how far he'd go to be with Viktor. actual fucking nercomancy. If Talis were more like Giopara or if their bond wasn't nearly as strong as it was in canon, sure. but Talis literally fist fought the narrative and archetype he was assigned to be with Viktor and won.

(I could see ambessa/the council exploiting his anger and guilt, but i dont think even that could be turned effective towards Viktor. the undercity and Jinx? yeah, he could turn into someone like Caitlyn very easily. But even putting aside all the codependency issues, after losing Cassandra and seeing the death and devstation of the war (and then mel's eventual disappearance), i dont think he'd risk losing anyone else, no matter what Viktor did)

I'm trying to name a Dhampir (originally shadar kai) (blood) cleric/(phantom) rogue, and I'm stuck between three names:

If you want some extra context, here it is:

[Name] (they/he) is from the Shadowfell originally, and a member of the Tenebrous Cabal-- a school/secret society that focuses on the study of nercomancy and shadow magic. However, this is in the far distant future of the Forgotten Realms setting (we're playing a cyberpunk flavored campaign), and the gods have all died. The Shadowfell is falling to pieces, Gloomwrought is a more volatile place to live than ever before, the Raven Queen's residual power being the only thing to keep the entire plane from being rent asunder. They were part of some kind of ritual which turned them into a dhampir and gave them a divine connection to the Raven Queen's power. He ended up leaving the Shadowfell to find a way to reanimate/revive the Raven Queen (or maybe become a god himself 👀)
