So excited I finally got to check out @nerdstronggym with @wafflebyte and @fluffycyborg!!! Awesome workout and just what I needed this week. Everyone was so nice and David was really great at making sure our form was in point! Comic-Con Journal - Thursday - 12:44pm Day two at Nerdigras. Started this one bright and early. Mainly because the condo we’re renting is entirely surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. Terrific for views, kind of terrible for keeping out the sounds of a screaming drunk dude in Harley Quinn drag wandering the streets of San Diego at 3am. Also, we’re directly above a Fogo de Chao Brazilian steak place and the smell of all you can eat grilled meats is our constant companion. But on we go. Here are some stray thoughts (and photos) from the first part of my day: I saw a man in a full Batman costume drop his just purchased Venti latte on the ground. The Dark Knight is always grim… but I’d never seen him so sad. So very sad. I left him to feel his feelings in private. Hit the Nerdstrong Gym panel at the Marriott (writing more on that over at GGA). Those folks are truly inspiring. And Pokémon Go got a lot of love for making nerds walk in the sunshine. #Fair Hit the floor to buy more stuff I don’t need (but which I can’t live without) and saw a booth repping landspeeders for kids. Little, tiny landspeeders! We live an age of wonders. I did not buy one, but I did successfully look like a creep taking a picture of someone else’s kid. So… terrific. Speaking of creepy, I stopped on the way back to watch a full marching band playing on the corner, repping some event or another. No one else was there. Just me standing really close to them with a smile on my face. Then I became suddenly self conscious that I was probably becoming the subject of someone’s, “Look at this weird geek at comic-con” photo and shuffled off suddenly, increasing my creepiness by ten fold. Tonight's workout outfit for a training session with @geekchristy 💕💪👊💕 I finally stepped back into the nerdvana that is @nerdstronggym after a 2 year absence 😭😭😭 *cue ugly sobbing* And it felt soooo good!!! And by "good" I mean I've got noodle arms for the rest of the night, lolol. Can't jump back into regular classes until August because of my work schedule, but I am so pumped for when that happens ☺️ . . At @nerdstronggym (still not cleared for any weight training for at least another 2 weeks) last night, Coach @corrinpiercefitness mentioned a lost & found box, "Kevin, I think you have a couple of things in there". I go to look, and there are my two old WOD books, I guess the last ones in the building. My first when it as still Nrdfit, and then Big Blue. It'll be my 4th anniversary next week of finding this amazing place because of a chance meeting with @kimapult at @galaxyofcomics . Where has the time gone. It was the place I needed in my life at a very trying and depressed time, and still as important to me today. Its a community of like minded amazing multi-gendered geeks/nerds people who share nothing but support, love, care, concern, all with a sprinkle of sass. Packed day starting with surgery consult at @uclahealth Urology (probably in 2 weeks) then an awesome first time VO session with @kingrobgss at Green Street Studios for a character I thought was dead! Finished up with a @zombiesrun_app 5K training, Battle Stations! and Core & Mobility at @nerdstronggym with the illustrious Coach @corrinpiercefitness who made sure all our muscles were nice & juicy! But no squats today... knees were not having it! Two days of some tough, great WODs at @nerdstronggym , started rehearsals for my first full length play in about 6 years, and hit a big #finishwhatyoustarted goal: after 5 years I finally finished the 8 week @zombiesrun_app 5K training app, with a non-stop 5k jog (still working with a lot of baggage so full on running is still tough). Couldn't believe I actually did it! Huge thanks to @dastridly for being a Fellow Runner 5!
