that die-in-the-closet-dialogue felt very strange to me but I still don't completely understand how people can hate people who have a different orientation than them (sexual or not, I don't know how to say that exactly but I hope you kinda understand me?). There shouldn't be a problem about dying in a closet in real life and I really understand why people are so close-minded and this is still happening, I guess. Why does this "kids movie" motivate me to think about this kind of issue so much? But I guess it's a good thing, I'm probably/definitely not the only one who watched Nimona and really started to think about this (and the other themes of this movie)

also Nimona literally coming out of the closet (as a shape-shifter) is like really nice, I love little things like that in movies that you maybe not even register at first

I like to think that the axe opening the door is a little "Shining" reference

frozen: 4/10 this lasted for WAAAAY too long. from 2013 till 2018 (a HUGE chunk of my childhood), i didnt care abt anything else besides some other hyperfixations

Ik it’s from a while ago and I still follow ur reposts and shit, but I still think it’s so funny how everyone got so hyped over mouthwashing, and now the fandom is actually dead ngl (every fan-made project was made at the latest a month ago) like this shit jumped off a cliff. Also plz explain all ur hyperfixations in order from biggest to smallest.

But yes, Fandom space moves so quickly nowadays that as soon as something drops off in popularity the fandom “dies”. I still see a solid amount for mouthwashing but it’s definitely slowed down considerably, I still love the game a ton it’s just taken the back burner for me as other fixations take the mantle at the front of my mind.

As for my hyper fixations we’re gonna be here all day (no joke) if I explain all of them so I’ll give you my like top five. (Apologies ahead of time these will probably be long)

Cyberpunk 2077 is my number one right now, I finally started a play through after waiting way too long and now I’ve sunk in so much time that I have dreams about the game. Not to get too detailed so this post isn’t a billion words long but the game itself has resonated with me so much (with its themes of loss and letting go among other things) that it has over taken all of my other fixations. There is just something special about it that I can’t shake.

Dragon age is almost always second or first, they are my comfort games and I’m always either drawing or writing about it (I’m working on a fic rn for the Big Bang event that’s ongoing rn) I first got into dragon age at such a strange and difficult time of my life that it’s like a stabilizing form of media for me, I always fall back on it when I’m struggling.

The Resident evil games have a consistent chokehold on me that is always simmering in the background, I’ve probably written the most words and made the most ocs set in different parts of the franchise. It’s the perfect amount of horror mixed with story that reins me in. (I’m also a sucker for sopping wet blonde men) Capcom does a good job of making a plethora of interesting characters that I can’t escape from.

Forth would be specifically Fallout 4, a good chunk of the fixation is the nostalgia from the game first coming out (the first game I ever preordered) idk what it was at that moment but I was so excited for the game and playing it for the first time is one of my few and cherished memories with my mom (she would watch me play at times) I didn’t touch the game again after my first play through until 2023 when I started another play through on a whim and was hit with a healthy reminder of why I enjoyed the game so much.

And lastly is arcane, mostly because it’s the newest and I am unfortunately (fortunately?) not into the video game whatsoever so all I have is the show and fan works ofc. I still love it though, I just have a harder time staying immersed in the fixation for this one.

once I had a roleplay that went on for a year. It had such a deep, amazing storyline that had so much emotion and time spent on it and a whole world built around it and ngl I don’t think character ai can ever replace that

don’t get me wrong, it’s been maybe 2-3 months since I’ve last logged on and my mental health definitely hasn’t improved but at the same time I feel more grounded and connected with people

this is not me telling you to quit using it, this is me yapping about how different it feels without it

I’m not logging on every night with the fake storylines waiting for me, I have friends who are waiting for me to talk about my newest hyperfixation or how my day was

I feel a lot more comfort knowing it’s a real person behind the screen. It feels better having actual people that can keep track of details instead of forgetting your name 2 messages down the line.

Various games Himaruya has worked on: a small compilation

With my newest hyperfixation now being visual novels, I've recently turned my attention to some of the visual novel-style games Hima has made in the past. There's a few super short personal project ones like Noto-sama and Cleaning Prussia which he made in pre-anime adaptation times, but I just want to share the more notable/interesting ones I know about.

Gakuen Hetalia (2011-2012)

You've probably heard of this one. Given that it was released in the early seasons of the anime adaptation, it has that art style, for better or for worse. I honestly thought the existence of this game was a joke when I first heard of it but no it's a real game, developed by the one and only Otomate and released for the DS and PSP. It's an otome game with Seychelles as the protagonist, and is fully voiced. From what I've heard about this game, there's not much romance and has mostly platonic interactions. Also Gakuen AU.

Since this is pretty much a game adaptation of the anime, this is probably the one that Hima least had a hand in making, as compared to the ones I'm about to talk about. Still a neat game in its own right.

The Hetalian Horror Show (2015)

Another one you might have heard of if you browse Hetarchive, which has a partial translation for this game. This one's a fairly short free game set in the Gakuen AU (again) with Bulgaria as the protagonist. It's basically about a couple of the nations gathering to tell 'scary' stories (whether they're actually scary varies). Features highlights such as:

Iggy bullying

Low-key nsfw illustration of Bul butt-naked and tied up

And a twist ending you will not believe! (not clickbait)

This game is a horror anthology game released all the way back in 2007, with three different stories and each having different writers and artists. The first two stories are the longest (apparently they have over a hundred different endings combined), and if you look around I think you can find some posts about them, they're quite interesting. The one Hima did the illustrations (and direction) for is the final story, Hashira no Kizu (or Scratches on the Pillar), which is the one that I heard leans the hardest into the horror atmosphere, and is quite different overall from the other two stories.

By the way, this game is a retelling of sorts of a much older game (from the 90s!) called Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi (Scary Stories at School). Which leads me to this game...

Inaka no Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi (2014-2016)

This is a full-length visual novel made by Hima's doujin group Shimaoka Kenkou Land, and it's a homage to the aforementioned Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi. It's pretty similar in setting to Hetahorror (in fact that game was probably inspired by that too), with students coming together to share their horror stories. It's very atmospheric, with a lot of ambient noises and background images which really drive home the 'inaka/countryside' part of the story. Hetahorror had shades of this too, so consider this a 'deluxe' version lol. Except unlike the Hetalia one I feel this game is actually pretty scary ngl...there's a lot of comedic moments, but also just as many genuinely gruesome scenes (I'm not kidding, some of the images are quite violent)

I only played the demo (which can be downloaded from the same page as the Hetalia game), and man the stories really range from 'I saw this lady walking her dog and holding a cute plush toy from afar so I asked if I could take a picture of it, but it turned out it wasn't a plush toy, it was a bag for dog droppings' to 'my friend and his entire family were mauled to death and it wasn't an animal that did it'.

The full game apparently has voice acting too, but this was a super-duper limited release (like it was sold in Animate stores for less than a year back in 2016) and I really liked the demo so I'm just considering getting it second-hand at this point. It's so obscure I can't find much info on the game in Japanese, much less English...

Anyway looking at the games he made really makes me wish he had the time to make one nowadays....he could probably make an amazing official Hetaoni horror game and I would pay real-life money to play it. This has been a PSA.

Favorite OC:

Oh man...oh how can you ask me to choose my favorite? In all honesty it kind of rotates depending on what game I'm fixated on that most that day/week/month lol. The usual havers-of-my-fixation are Five, Ryn, and Raenor & Wulfwryn (they come as a pair, fight me).

(But, just between you and me goers-of-tumblr, Five and Raenor are pretty tied :P)

Newest OC: I'm not going to count my Ryder from ME:A because I haven't introduced her here yet, so I'd say Roslynd. I wanted to create her in theory for awhile but then I got bit by the agent bug thanks to @tiredassmage and finally actually created her!

Oldest OC (length of time you've had them): As far as some form of their existence in the source material, probably Wulfwryn. I created her waaay back in...oh man...2011/12 when my Lord of the Rings hyperfixation was really sparked. Though I was an early middle schooler at that point, so naturally Wulfwryn was a thirtheenth walker insert and also far less developed and nuanced its a good thing I didn't post in the internet

However, in any iteration, probably Emeldir and Wren. They've been two of my longest standing OC concepts that have kind of bounced from universe to universe from old RP forums, to LOTR, to SWTOR. Though they're very, very different now. Emeldir used to be a wolf shape-shifter and Wren used to be far less of a WLW boss ass bitch.

Emeldir is my oldest SWTOR OC though, he was my first character way back in 20...uh...2015/16 when I first picked the game up.

Meanest OC: See, I'm really bad at making mean characters so I'm not sure xD Wren is probably the one who gives the least fucks and is more likely to put you in your place. She is a Dark Counselor after all, she's got to have an edge to her to succeed.

Softest OC: Raenor my bby boy (affectionate, that's a whole ass 500+ year old elven man). He is absolutely my softest OC who gets dragged into The Plot. He just wants to love Wulfwryn and create his music but instead Things Keep Happening.

Most Aloof/Standoffish: *trying to card through all my OCs, I have too many, especially Dragon Age ones I haven't talked about in awhile). I would say Five, only because that's how he is with basically everyone except Roslynd, Era, and his junior agents in the Cipher Division.

Dumbest (affectionate): This one probably goes to Ien, but I haven't talked about Ien in awhile he's fallen off the radar :') my idiot freckled blueberry smuggler. He's dumb as rocks (by choice).

For OCs I talk about regularly(ish) that has to go to Emeldir. He very book smart, but very young and naive at the start of the class story and very much NOT what you expect from a smuggler's personality and so many times Risha has to keep him from getting scammed because "NO they aren't being nice, they will take your money, no they don't actually need your help."

Smartest OC: Five and/or Ryn no contest. Five is smart as a whip, he needs to be and he's very logic-minded.

Horniest OC: *sigh* V. This woman cannot stop being horny for Judy even when we have plot to do. She's singularly minded, that one.

Ryn is also surprisingly horny but neither she nor I understand why she's attracted to turians, if she's actually attracted to turians at all, or if Garrus just Got Her With That Voice And Personality and the rest just kind of happens. So let me correct myself, she's *VERY* horny for Garrus, I just rarely write it because I don't understand physically why.

OC You'd Bang: *bisexual panic* Ha..ahaha...quite a few of them. Let's see, Five I accidentally projected My Type Of Man onto so definitely him. And also Ryn...very much Ryn, I mean *c'mon* yes Shepard hold me in your buff arms.

OC You'd Be Best Friends With IRL: Probably Emeldir ngl, he's so nice and chill and really just a quiet guy and by proxy that means I get a token extrovert friend in Rielay. I would love to be friends with Era but I definitely feel like she'd be way cooler than I am IRL.

I am a 18 year old female, Libra. I have brown hair, Hazel eyes and freckles. I'm rather short- being 5"6 (compared to family-)

My hobbies would be Arts, reading, writing- you can sometimes find me outside looking for mushrooms and cool pebbles. Listening to music 24/7 happens a lot, as well as clay models.

Personality wise, I would say I'm rather level-headed, but that turns to goblin behavior once you know me. From a friend's perspective, I am outgoing, understanding, comical, and "drink enough coffee to kill an entire school of Victorian Children."

I saw science, bio, geo, and immediately thought of Brian for you because I think he's in love with the natural world. He's a bit of a forager so like hey. The two of you need to talk about plants, go on walks together. He wants to go on adventures with you too because sometimes, he just can't sit still. He's a comical, sunshiny guy. (I write Hoodie and Brian as different entities!) He's good in like, performance art. He likes curling up with a good book too every now and then as well. I can see the two of you going to a library with a café, choosing some good books and spending the afternoon in each other's company. Brian talks,,,, a good enough amount. loves hearing about your hyperfixations though!! Chances are he's into them as well. He loves mythology especially, gotta get him into Vivziepop's works though - I think he'd like the character designs, like Stolas, Blitzo, etc. Brian is physically affectionate and verbally affectionate, you get the best of both worlds here.
