no hate to supergiant but their design for apollo is so off it actually makes me a little mad. i amgoing to redesign him.

#like on its own its a solid design #but doesn't capture anything of apollo's essence or traditional depiction #and usually th8is team is really good at that?#which is why he stands out to me #like my main issues w/ it:#it’s far too simple in concept - apollo was a VERY multifaceted god w many domains #like all his design is rlly giving here is Soldier #where’s the medicine elements? the arts elements? what about his sacred lyre. any symbols involving ravens swans wolves or dolphins?#or even a reference to his sun cattle as they show up in a few myths!!#next issue:#too masculine and too much clothing lol #apollo is effeminate and has (before modern times at least) usually been depicted as such #in traditional renderings he’s almost always naked save for a cloak and quiver #totally get not wanting him to be naked lol. But. full armor? really?#idk like its NOT a huge deal and it’s an indie team and they do phenomenal work #but this design just feels so lazy to me #and for one of my favorite gods it’s disappointing:(

There seems to be a general malaise on most of Tumblr about TikTok getting banned in the United States.

I understand the problems, "brain rot", whatever but- A government banning a social media app that opened the world for many people is legitimately scary and upsetting. Say what you want but, there are MANY global and local issues that would not have gotten the same traction, recognition, and outreach without TikTok.

And then add to this that Meta/Facebook was one the largest lobbyists working to get TikTok banned... Like- I think folks should be more concerned about the implications of what this means, especially since the ban goes into effect the day before inauguration.

#Its more than “a silly dance app”#Gave Americans and others a first hand look into international issues such as Palestine and Ukraine #TikTok was a HUGE part of the BLM movement in 2020 #luigi mangione #We saw things happen in real time we wouldn't have known as much about without everyday TikTok users posting and reporting on things #Further censorship like this is REALLY scary #If they can get rid of TikTok for the reasons theyre trying what happens next #tiktok #tiktok ban #2025 #I know what I'm saying isn't perfect but just I'm worried and upset

I just wanted to say I really admire how effortlessly masculine you are but how you also love so many traditionally "feminine" things. I am working on coming out as a trans man and dread people telling me I'm not allowed to knit and stuff anymore

One of the annoying aspects of transition is you become this walking litmus test for weird gender essentialism - even in progressive folks - and you're gonna learn just how much people deprive themselves of personal joy because of it.

I cannot tell you how many well-meaning people ended up shitting on my hobbies out of a desire to give me "man lessons" that I never asked for in the first place.

All I can say is, stick to your guns. Sure, knitting has also historically been a masculine activity, but to acknowledge such feels like giving credence to the argument that you have to drop "unmanly" interests. Knit because you like to knit, not because you are "allowed to" based on some gendered technicality.

Don't feel like you need to sacrifice parts of yourself in order to transition. If the best version of you is a man who knits, or a man who likes pink, or a man who enjoys wearing makeup, resist the urge to destroy these pieces of yourself.

Detractors will attempt to weaponize everything about you in an attempt to de-legitimize who you are. The most radical thing you can do is show them how your passions only make you stronger.

The dread is real, but it gets easier to assert yourself over time. You might even find yourself becoming an ambassador to other men wrt your hobbies. Good luck!
