A single examination, termed NEXT (National Exit Exam for MBBS), will replace the NEET-PG and MCI Screening exams as the final step in the medical school admissions process (FMGE: Foreign Medical Graduate Examination). It'll be in effect as of 2022.
Both Indian and foreign medical graduates will be required to sit for this exam. Internships will begin for students who pass the NEXT exit exam. When it comes to allotting post-graduate (PG) seats in India's public and private medical schools, the results of the NEXT exam will be used.

Following final year MBBS and before internship, NEXT-1 will be held. Students will begin internships after passing NEXT-1. To graduate from internship, students must pass both the theory (NEXT-1) and practical tests (NEXT-2). If you do well in NEXT-1, you will be eligible for a PG seat after your internship.Get better understanding of the strategy for the national exit test syllabus.
The medical education system in India will be standardized as part of NEXT. Final-year MBBS students will be evaluated on their conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities.
The NEXT-2 test will be pass/fail. The grades you earn in NEXT-2 will have no bearing on PG seats you get. In this way, NEXT-1 will serve as a screening and competitive examination in one.
The NEXT MBBS exit test syllabus will include all 19 subjects from the new MCI curriculum. However, the distribution of marks by subject will be vastly different from that of the NEET-PG or MCI Screening exams (i.e. FMGE: Foreign Medical Graduate Examination). Pre- and para-clinical subjects will receive fewer marks than clinical subjects.
In the NEXT exam, you'll have an unlimited number of tries. For the purposes of PG Entrance ranking, a student's NEXT-1 exam score will be valid for two to three years.
