In order to practise medicine in India, graduates of medical schools outside of the country must now complete a 12-month internship under the supervision of an Indian physician. Along with this, they will complete a 12-month internship in their host country as part of their degree programme there. Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) will be replaced by the national exit test for MBBS  (NExT) for all candidates who wish to practise in India (NEXT). The NMC announced the Foreign Medical Graduate Licensing Regulations 2021. Prior to applying for permanent registration in India, candidates hoping to practise medicine in India must meet the requirements outlined in the notification.

Next exam for foreign medical graduates will be replacing FMGE

In place of the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination, the exit exam for MBBS will be used. NEXT exit exam with common exit for both Indian and foreign medical students. The Indian MBBS curriculum is expected to be followed by students. The NEXT exam for MBBS will also serve as an exit exam for MBBS graduates in India and an admission test for postgraduate studies in medicine when the National Medical Commission replaces the Medical Council of India in 2019. (MD, MS). The National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test for Postgraduate Studies is expected to be replaced by it eventually (NEET PG). Students have a total of 10 years to complete their courses.

In place of the FMGE, the National Medical Commission (NMC) is implementing the National Exit Test (NET) (NExT). By 2022, NExT is expected to be in place. NExT is expected to be more difficult than FMGE, according to experts. FMGE uses conceptual questions to assess candidates' knowledge, which is cited as the primary reason for this. NExT, on the other hand, will be based on clinical problems and their solutions.

Recent draught regulations on foreign medical graduates were released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) (FMGs). After finishing their MBBS degree abroad, foreign medical graduates will have two years to take and pass the exit test for MBBS (NExT). This is viewed as unfair by experts. In their opinion, it's unethical to reschedule the exam and require students to show up at the last minute.

Experts have also claimed that foreign medical education does not adequately prepare students for the challenges of practising medicine. For this reason, they recommend that the government try to improve the knowledge of FMGs upon their return to India before requiring them to sit for exams such as NExT.

It was also suggested that medical students should not be allowed to select any medical college outside of India. They advocate for a screening process to help students find the best fit for their academic and personal goals.

Only one-liner simple questions were used in FMGE, and they had a lower difficulty level than NEET PG. Experts believe that the difficulty level of NExT will be five times greater than what the FMGs can handle. As it stands, only about 9 percent to 18 percent of people who take the FMG exams succeed.

Next Exam For Foreign Medical Graduates | Mci Approved Foreign Medical Colleges

Known as the MCI Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), the Medical Council of India (MCI) Screening Exam is a certified exam offered by the National Board of Examination (NBE). Graduates of Indian medical schools who have completed their MBBS outside of India in countries such as Russia, China, Philippines, Georgia, Kirgizstan, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Bangladesh & other foreign countries must pass the MCI Exam for Foreign Medical Graduates in order to practise medicine in India. FMGE is only open to those who have completed their MBBS degree from a medical school in another country that is accredited by the Medical Council of India. The MCI website has a list of foreign medical schools that have been approved by the agency.
