By any sense of the word, Astarion was not known to be a nurturing man.

He wasn’t quite as in touch with other people's feelings in the way that Wyll or Halsin could be. If anything, he was rather cold in the sense of comforting another. Comfort was something he was deprived of in his two hundred years as a slave to Cazador, so what he’d never received he felt could not give out.

Which left him in a tricky predicament tonight.

Unlike most nights, she did not wish to indulge him in the details of her brutal adventure as soon as she returned. His strong little love had arrived shivering, distant and doused in dozens of conflicting scents of cold blood. All he could do was gawp at her for a moment, unsure of whether or not he should do something. It wasn’t uncommon for members of their party to return in such a state of gore and emitting a strong stench of death, but to return looking so mentally sore and empty was something he was yet to deal with.

Entirely unsure as to why, he wanted nothing more than to be the comfort she so clearly needed after such a day. He wanted to see her smile, it was the only thing that brightened up his night at camp. Smiling was obviously not in her repertoire of emotions that evening. 

As much as he wanted to give in to this new desire to nurture her, he didn’t dare get close until she had washed away the temptation staining her skin. No matter what, he had to resist the urge to aid in the cleaning of such an abundance of thickly spread blood. Visually, she was in a bad way, and he wouldn’t be able to help her while resisting the temptation to help himself to the scarlet feast she was drowning in.

All he could do was sit outside his tent, watching as Halsin helped to wash away the liquid badge of accomplished combat whilst healing her own open wounds. He studied the gentle touch of the well-built Druid, his large and rough hands so carefully patching her up as he tried to coax her out of her hypnotic-like state. Although the kind words from Halsin didn’t seem to be soothing her, Astarion made a note of the words of encouragement and sickly sweet pet names the healer used in an effort to make her feel safe.

Once she was patched up and in a much cleaner set of comfortable clothing, Halsin had offered her a shoulder to lean on and ear to listen to her troubles, but she quietly declined. Before she made her way to the lake, she thanked him for his help as she stood from her makeshift seat, not stopping when he suggested that she return to him if needed.

Astarion suddenly felt uneasy about her leaving such comfort to go and sit alone. Sure, she was his partner, but even he couldn’t deny that Halsin could give her emotional support and likely the warmest hug of her life to at least give her the slightest sense of security. 

It often made Astarion wonder what it was she actually saw in him. There was no doubt that the two of them were pretty nifty in battle, and she knew as well as he did that they had each other's backs. They were fearlessly protective of each other, each willing to do anything to shield the other from harm. 

But was that all their relationship could be defined as?

He wanted more for her, and admittedly for himself as well, but he was the only thing in the way of their progression. She was ready, willing and able to begin that chapter in their relationship, but he couldn’t let it be one sided. The cuddly and intimate side of things was still a learning curve for him as he progressively taught himself what he was and was not comfortable with and where his boundaries lie. He’d never had the luxury of boundaries before now, so her encouragement of him slowly discovering his own was greatly appreciated.

For that very reason, he had no qualms with her seeking comfort from other members of their party. If anything, it helped him learn the importance of patience and understanding and taught him how to express his own feelings. Although it wasn’t something he had yet expressed to the others, he was grateful for their unconditional support of her where he couldn’t yet give it.

Many nights he sat in his tent, building himself up to take that first step towards being the partner he wanted to be to her, only for his courage to come crumbling down as he thought more and more about whether or not he truly was ready for it. So as he watched her sitting by the lake, her arms wrapped around her own waist and shoulders slightly shaking from her torment, he felt something new.

Almost like a feeling of connection, he was suddenly completely drawn to her. He was standing from his uncomfortable perch on the bumpy terrain below him before he could even process any thought for what he was doing. She needed him, and this was both the first time he had recognised it and the first time he was acting on it. He moved toward her quickly, actually sensing her level of distress before he even knew what was truly eating away at her.

Unlike any other night at camp, he wanted to hear every detail of her troubles; tears and all. He wanted her to confide in him the way he had in her so many times before. He wanted her to lean on him for support because he wanted her to feel better.

Most importantly, he wanted to be her main source of comfort.

So as he approached his sniffling partner and silently sat himself behind her, he felt the first almighty crack in his hefty barrier. Fighting off the sudden quickening of his breath took mere milliseconds, a record by all accounts. That defensive stance of panic that repeatedly presented itself at even the slightest thought of being part of someone else’s emotional support system was overstaying its welcome, and he was ready to rid himself of it.

His hands gently pried her arms away from the tight hold they had on her waist, her grip so strong that it seemed she was trying to hold herself together before she fell apart in front of him. He locked his own arms in their place around her middle, pulling her back into his chest with a reassuring squeeze.

“I’ve got you,” he whispered suddenly, his mouth taking on a mind of its own.

Never before had he said such a sweet sentence with zero malice or ill intent. Every little doubt in his mind slithered away as her tense form shook pathetically in his hold. She was holding something in, a traumatic detail from her adventures that she may not want to relive.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

The more he rubbed little circles into her waist with the tips of his fingers, the more she sank deeper into him. Her raised shoulders began to relax as each muscle softened within her, the unsettling tension slowly leaving her. He could feel himself doing something right, something that made him feel worthy of her love and time. Not even sex could make him feel as good as he did in this moment.

Astarion waited patiently for a response as she seemed to be clawing through her thoughts for an answer. His cold lips pressed a gentle kiss into her hair, the faint smell of blood still presenting itself upon her person. The smell did not deter him from his focus on her state as she began to break down into pitiful sobs, each heartbreaking tremor shaking them both as he completely enveloped her into him.

“Shhh,” he whispered softly. “Shh shh shh…it’s okay.”

She shook her head quickly, inhaling a shaken breath in an attempt to calm herself enough to speak. “I-I couldn’t…s-save-”

She needn’t speak any further, unable to anyway as she buried her face in her hands to muffle her sobs. She couldn’t save somebody, something that had been a reoccurring torment for her whenever she faced what she deemed as the highest form of failure. If Astarion was being wholeheartedly honest, he didn’t entirely understand her strong feelings for helpless people that had zero relation to her. 

She couldn’t save everyone.

He didn’t want to lose her in her personal mission to be everyone’s saviour, but he tactically held his tongue about his opinions. Conflicting opinions was, as Gale would put it, a normal part of a relationship, but Astarion knew he could be rather cut throat in his approach to such topics. He didn’t want her to think him heartless, because he really was trying to at least see things from her point of view first. And even if he couldn’t see why she was so attached to the helpless and needy, he wanted to convey that in a way that wouldn’t damage their relationship.

He still had a lot to learn, but truth be told, he was rather enjoying this personal journey to becoming his own person. A shocking turn of events to say the least. Something about this particular adventure made him feel like he was doing something right for a change. He was finally finding himself. Not the slave that Cazador created, but a man with his own morals and feelings.

His lips pressed many more little kisses wherever he could plant them, shushing her softly to alleviate the harsh sobs wracking her body. The back of her head eventually found its way into the crook of his neck, her soft hairs tickling at his puncture scars. He swayed them both slowly, resting his cheek upon her head to embrace her as much as he could.

She wasn’t in the right mind to tell him the story of her tragic day, so as much as he currently didn’t want to blindly promise her that she’d be presented with this side of him tomorrow, he wanted her to know that she no longer needed to seek out comfort from anyone but him. He wanted to hear about her upset, whether that was tomorrow or a week from now. All he knew was that tonight was not the night. 

Tonight, she just needed a shoulder to cry on.

A smile touched the boy's lips. A Christmas tune began to blare from the living room as one of the adults made the instruments start playing. I smelled ginger cookies. - I'm surprised. - At what? - It looks better than I thought it would. You're going to Hogwarts like that! - No way! - In six months, I can make you do it! - No, you can't! You'll forget ten times over.

Snow was falling outside the window, and the altercation ended in merry laughter. A little more than six months, and they would finally go to school.

Hazbin Swap AU

-Vox and Velvette are the ones helping the Hotel instead of Alastor. -Nifty works for Velvette and Husk still works for Al, but helps at the hotel at Al's request as a means of being a spy, but Husk tries to not betray the hotel as much as he can. Only Angel Dust knows about it but, given his own circumstances at the time, understands that the situation is messy and Husk can only do what he can. -Al and Rosie replace the V's role but in Cannibal Town. -Valentino fucking dies during the final battle because he tries to drag Angel away from the hotel right before the attack cause he doesn't want to risk losing his favorite toy and is fed up with him resisting, only to get into a scuff with Adam, killing him the process, setting Angel free of his contract. He's currently staying at the hotel full-time and taking an extended break from sex work now that he's no longer under contract. Charlie's doing what she can to support him and his recovery process. (I hate Val too much to even consider rewriting his character I just want him out of the narrative entirely, plus it allows for further exploration and development of Angel's character). -The one-sided Staticradio rivalry is still very much alive and well, though Vox has a bit more influence as the "Video that killed the Radio star" (due to his medium pretty much completely replacing radio in hell, with Cannibal Town being the exception since everyone there is old-school) and is closer to being on-par with Al (though not quite. Al still has a powercreep on him) -Vox only agreed to help Charlie with her hotel because Vox wanted to have more political power by gaining favor from the Morningstars, while also using the hotel as a means of promoting himself more (creating a reality show of sinners trying and failing to be redeemed? Good television indeed!). -Velvette agreed by proxy of Vox (the two act like siblings to me change my mind) and also for promotional purposes. She often holds fashion shows at/near the hotel cause ✨branding✨ . And because she can't trust Vox with decorating the lobby.

Rosie and Husk are Always going to be Exes, be it married or dating, but exes. Rosie is a cannibal, Husk isn't he just helps his family hide evidence. In certain AU they're Nifty and or Al's adoptive parents/found family parent's in others they are just older friends who are protective and the mom/dad friend. Rosie is a psychologist and Husk a bartender, most AU they're gonna be ex military

Angel Dust (Anthony) Husks twink boyfriend he gets after divorcing or breaking up with Rosie. Still a hooker but he and Val have a healthy relationship. Unless I need Val to be nasty for my plot. Ex addict, makes music sometimes, recovering eating disorder

The Vees! Vox with his heterochromia and I like making him sweaty either an actual problem or he's just sweaty. I also like to give him a stutter in certain AUs. He's German.

Valentino is as always, half blind, and he's a nasty weird tall man with a connective tissue disorder in most AU, he's also Latin and a pretty good friend he's very supportive just bad at it.

Velvet is a weird little chaotic rat but her boys worship her. For some reason I see her as a Floridian military brat idk, fashion designer and influencer in every AU. I ship her with Rosie.

In some AU they're adoptive siblings

Charlie and Vaggie! Twinning UwU! Vaggie is an ex Catholic cause I think it makes sense and Charlie definitely practices Wicca or something. Charlie actually does own a hotel, it's a rehab her father funded for her because she wants to help nd she has whateva sort of degree would help with that, something with therapy. Vaggie works as a security guard there.

Vaggie twin sister Lute, she's having a near constant mental breakdown, she's a psycho deep down and is FILLED with religious guilt idk what to tell ya. Killed someone. Her arm is amputated too. She teaches self defense, specialising in helping people with disabilities learn to work around them.

Charlie cousin Peter. Everyone think he's the "gay" cousin but he's actually straight and VERY comfy in his masculinity, nondenominational. Isn't technically allowed to visit the Morningstar house alone because they're "evil" but they're just spiritual. Broadway!!

Lute boyfriend, Adam. I could NOT resist making him adorable and precious because you see him and go awww but then he fucking opens his mouth and calls you a slur. Lmao. Questioning his faith. Rock star wanna be, studies music theory or something

Adams cousins! Big sis Sera is constantly worrying and lil sis Emily is heavily sheltered. Sera is a Sunday School teacher, idk, maybe religious studies? Emily if the AU has her college aged will want to be a nurse (I've been seeing Emily ships everywhere but what if she falls for her fellow nurse who's secretly a psychopath?? Nifty, I mean)

Cherri! Angels BFF! She's deffo an artist and also a demolition expert or something, and does monster trucking too! She's the best most supportive person, Penti adores her and she's secretly in love too but she's scared of it. Angel keeps mocking her that he's got two guys (Val and Husk) and she won't even take a chance on the dude who would find a way to blow up the sun for her.

Penti is trans, hjs family is also Muslim but he was disowned when he came out. He has triplet little siblings! Is studying to be or is a physicist. Idk minor speech impediment/lisp!

Frank is the embodiment of chaos and when he meets Alastor is obsessed with him (crushing on a guy your older brother doesn't like is a right if passage) Chandler and Leslie are his siblings. They we're disowned for supporting Penti and Chandler has refused to wear her veil since. Leslie still upholds their faith but is very supportive.

Usually Vark will be a dog. But occasionally an AU will call for him to be Vox little brother so here's a design for him!

Background

The leading NBFC on April 29 had announced a bonus issue of shares in the ratio of 4:1. This would mean that the eligible shareholders will receive 4 bonus shares for every single Bajaj Finance share they own. Additionally, the company also announced a stock split in the ratio of 1:2.

The NBFC had last announced a share split in 2016, dividing the shares in 1:5 ratio at that time.

A Bajaj Finance shareholder who already owned 10 shares of the company as on the record date June 16 would get an additional 40 shares after the bonus issue in the ratio of 4:1 and will subsequently have a total of 50 shares of the company. Those buying shares on June 16 will not be eligible for the bonus shares.

These 50 shares will then split into 100 shares after the stock split takes effect in the ratio of 1:2. Hence, the shareholder who had 10 shares as on the record date, will have 100 shares of the company after the bonus issue and stock split.

Along with the stock split and bonus issue, Bajaj Finance had also announced a final dividend of Rs 44 per equity share and a special dividend of Rs 12 per equity share. This took the total dividend announced by the firm to Rs 56 per share during FY25.

The company had set the record date to determine the eligibility of the shareholders set to receive the final dividend on May 30, and said that it will be paid on or around July 28. The record date for the special interim dividend had been set on May 9 and the firm said that it will be paid to the eligible shareholders on or around May 26.

Bajaj Finance Q4FY25 Results

The NBFC had released its results for the January-March quarter of FY25 on April 29. Bajaj Finance's net profit rose 17 percent year-on-year to Rs 4,480 crore.

Bajaj Finance's assets under management grew 26 percent during the quarter, helped by strong demand for credit, while new loan bookings jumped 36 percent from a year ago.

Net interest income increased by 22 percent in Q4FY25 to Rs 9,807 crore from Rs 8,013 crore in Q4FY24.

Voting is about strategic thinking. It's a chess move. Thinking your single vote is going to make things in America perfect (Presidents can't really change much permanently because it's Congress that makes the laws.) is as naive as think you can checkmate your opponent with your single first move in chess. It's just not possible.

Republicans have gotten America to where we are now by years and years of strategic moves, spreading their twisted views, getting judges nominated. They were patient but dogged These things take time. Some liberals think we can revolutionize a long corrupt political system with a single president! That is just magical thinking by people who really don't understand how American government works.

We are NOT going to eliminate money in politics and corruption on both sides of the aisle with one single presidential vote. Once we get Democrats in Congress of some will be lobbied and bought. We have to figure out ways to fight that!

We could have been doing that from 2016 to 2020. But, instead we're stuck clawing our way back just to where we were.

We have to convince the middle-class public to stop believing Republican lies about "small government" in attack ads on Democrats when Republicans stand for nothing. We need a decades long campaign that THE RICH ARE the ENEMY. Liberals have not done as effective a job selling that crucial point.

It won't happen overnight. But change will happen if we teach everyone to get involved and to donate enough from the grassroots (just a little from hundreds of millions) to scare the crap out the politicians to resist lobbying or lose their nifty little jobs.

A presidential pick is not a magic bullet. A president could have the most LIBERAL policies in the world, it means nothing if he/she has NO SUPPORT in Congress.

A lot of people were unexcited about Biden. But he was picked (again, over Warren or Bernie) because he was ELECTABLE. Look at the amazing things he's done. He has supported unions. He's helped the economy. He's stood up for the middle class. (Yeah, screw him on Palestinians but, Trump would have been worse.)

This is our chance as liberals, Republicans MAY have gotten themselves to the point where they have lost SO MUCH credibility that the American kneejerk reaction to "throw the bums out" at the end of a relatively successful Democrat presidency is a bad idea.

We can't show what liberals can do if don't stay in office!

But, we won't get there... if you throw away your vote.

We will end up with a totalitarian government and you will risk being thrown into a concentration camp for simply speaking out against Trump. That's how totalitarian governments work.

Are you really willing to risk a totalitarian America for your pie-in-the-sky ideals? Because that's exactly what they are for the reasons explained here.

So, yes, voting is important but ONLY when a majority votes in the right direction. Third party voters are NEVER the majority. That is why they are "third party."

It is simply arrogant and unrealistic to think that your ONE MEASLY idealistic vote is going to be followed by millions of voters who have decided on the more mainstream candidate.

Your "protest" has consequence. Big f*cking consequences. Trump was a giant, democracy destroying consequence of prissy liberals who "didn't like" Hillary Clinton enough.

I wanted Bernie or Elizabeth Warren in 2016 and 2020. But, did I throw away my vote against Trump? No! I voted for neoliberal Hillary and for Biden because Trump was a disaster. But Trump won due to "protest" votes or "protest" refusal to vote.

Look what happened. That's where protest votes got us. Now half the electorate truly believes the 2020 election was stolen because no one has ever had the nerve to damage democracy that badly. Who knows HOW long it will take to undo that level of absurd distrust in an American electoral system that is more secure than ever due to paper ballots.

Protest voters let the perfect be the enemy of the decent and honest.

You'd rather bet American democracy ITSELF all on a impossible longshot even when losing means losing everything?

We're one election away from a totalitarian government and the permanent END of "the American experiment" in self governance if Trump wins.

Anyone who thinks "it can't happen here" truly does not understand that is ALREADY IS 'happening here'. We are on the verge of it.

Isn't an entirely corrupt Republican party, a grossly right-wing biased Supreme Court Judiciary and a candidate who already tried to overthrow an election once NOT PROOF ENOUGH?

If Republicans win they will control two and a half of our three branches of government, god help us. No one will be left with the power to stop them.

The words on our US Constitution only matter if those in power respect them. Trump taught us... you just don't have to. What are they gonna do? Impeach you? Hah! My Republican buddies will acquit me! You just have to be willing to be entirely evil. It's really not difficult. What is difficult is to be honest and good.

If Trump wins life in the United States is going to going to make Trump's first term look like a walk in the park. I, for one, would rather not be thrown into a concentration camp for doing what I'm doing right now, using my free speech to call out the dangers of the Republican party.

If Trump wins and I publish an essay like this.... I will soon be getting a knock at my door by a bunch of AR-15 carrying 'militia' in a large truck festooned with Trump flags that will "arrest" me. I will be thrown in with migrants and gays and trans people who are "a threat to America." Some will protest. Some will cheer. And 1/3 of Americans (the "independents" who "don't care about "politics") will just stand there watching.....

If Trump wins, believe me, you'll be too afraid for your own safety to worry about any "green" policies.

So, can you see how being too idealistic can backfire really badly? We have RECENT HISTORICAL PRECEDENT from 2016 to prove it!
