cruelest summer ☀️
charlie baker x reader (enemies to lover)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary of the cruelest summer;
☀️ the baker boys were forced to go to summer camp. charlie knew this tradition would continue, but he wasn’t the only one who didn’t want to go. he would have much preferred to stay in midland and and try to work things out with beth. yet tom insisted.
as soon as the baker boys arrived at the summer camp, chaos ensued. it was typical for the bakers' arrival, and charlie had to get things under control — though it was hard to focus with his old childhood crush working at the camp as a counselor. ☀️
"No—end of discussion," Tom said as he walked down the stairs of the big house where the Bakers were currently living. The family had slowly adjusted to their new surroundings in Chicago. It had been difficult for each of the Bakers, but somehow, they made it work.
Yet for Charlie, it was still hard being so far from Beth. They hadn’t broken up—not yet.
That’s what Charlie hoped, though Beth seemed to see things differently. It was difficult for both of them, not being able to see each other and share kisses on the lips and cheeks. Now they had to wait until every second weekend just to be together. For Beth, it was tough, but Charlie tried at every opportunity to be in Midland. He loved her dearly, but maybe that wasn’t enough.
“But Dad, I wanted to visit Beth. It doesn’t make sense to go to this stupid camp every year,” Charlie protested as he followed Tom.
“Charlie, I know youre upset about it, but it’s a tradition. Your grandpa always took me to that camp every summer, and I loved it.”
“You stopped going to that camp when you were 15. I’m 17, and it doesn’t make any sense,” Charlie scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“Charlie, it’s not going to change my mind. Now go pack your stuff.” Tom entered the kitchen—or more accurately, the chaos.
“But why are Nigel and Kyle staying home?” Charlie wasn’t about to let that slide. He searched for any excuse not to go to the camp, but it seemed like he was constantly losing the battle.
“Your mother and I thought they’d go next year. They’re still too young for it.” Tom shrugged as he cleaned the mess on the kitchen counters.
“That’s okay? But I have to go? Come on, Dad—”
“Charlie.” Tom’s voice raised a little more than usual, and that’s when Charlie knew there was no changing his mind. Furious, Charlie shook his head and headed to his bedroom to pack.
If it were just one week, Charlie could have dealt with it. But three weeks? That was off-limits. It wasn’t that he hated summer camp—it was fun. When he thought back to previous summers, he remembered being one of the most mischievous kids there. He pulled pranks on the counselors, snuck out to the lake, played truth or dare with the girls, and made out in the tents until a counselor threw water inside. Most importantly, though, he always teased a girl who made his heart race—Y/N Y/L/N.
Y/N and Charlie were the definition of chaos. People said the Bakers were the perfect example of it, but they hadn’t seen Y/N and Charlie together.
Sometimes, Charlie teased Y/N so much that she once stuck a gooey marshmallow in his hair.
Another time, Charlie pushed Y/N into a bush full of bugs.
Then there was the night Y/N snuck into his cabin in the middle of the night and put makeup on his sleeping face.
Or the time when he was dared to kiss Y/N in the tent while she had her eyes closed.
Ever since that summer before high school, they hadn’t seen each other. For some reason, Y/N never returned to camp, and Charlie still thought about that kiss. Maybe it was the reason she never came back.
But she didn’t know it was Charlie—that’s what he told himself.
Henry knocked on Charlie's door and peeked his head inside. "Did you convince Dad?"
"Does it look like it? If I had, I'd already be gone—maybe even throwing a big party," Charlie chuckled, though disappointment tinged his voice.
"Man….I was hoping he’d change his mind this year. I mean, even I get bored," Henry sighed.
"I'm sorry, H, but let’s make the best of it." Charlie walked over and ruffled Henry’s hair affectionately.
☀️
The next day was pure chaos. Everyone was running around the house while Tom packed up all the boys' belongings.
"Jake, you can't take your skateboard with you. You know that," Tom said.
"It's me with the skateboard or nothing," Jake replied, raising both hands in protest. Tom sighed and placed the skateboard in the car.
Charlie adjusted his cap and took one last look at his message to Beth, who still hadn’t replied. She was upset that Charlie couldn’t make it to Midland, and she had every right to be. But at the very least, she could have texted "I love you" back.
Kate walked over to Charlie and patted him on the back. "Are you alright, Charlie?"
"Do I look alright?" he snapped, then sighed. "Sorry," he mumbled.
"I understand you're grumpy about it, but believe me, it’ll be fun! Maybe this time you can join the counselor group instead of pulling pranks on them," Kate suggested, looking at her son, who managed a small smile.
"Don’t worry, Jake has studied my pranks—I’m sure they’ll be fine."
"Please, do me a favor and keep them under control," Kate said, giving Charlie a concerned look. "...I promise."
"Okay, now let’s get to the car. We need to say goodbye to you guys!" Kate smiled.
The ride to camp wasn’t very long. Tom kept talking about his funny moments at camp to try and keep the boys excited, but they all wore the same uninterested expression—except for Mark, who was thrilled. He loved nature, especially the animals, and he was excited to reunite with his old friends who joined the summer camp every year. The thought of group activities in nature filled him with joy.
Charlie stared out the window, watching as the scenery blurred past. Everything looked the same. He had hoped there might be something different this time, but it was all exactly as he remembered—the same trees, the same signs, the same winding road to the camp.
By the time they arrived, it was 3 p.m. Tom had been chatting the whole time with Derek, the camp’s owner. They had met at the camp when they were younger, and now Derek was running the place.
The boys grabbed their bags from the car. The camp buzzed with energy as kids and counselors moved around, unloading luggage and searching for their assigned cabins. Mark eagerly rushed ahead, already spotting some of his friends. Jake and Henry dragged their bags behind them, looking less enthusiastic but still chatting about what they might do first.
Charlie, however, moved slowly, his bag slung over his shoulder. He wasn’t in a rush. As the others searched for their cabin assignments, Derek approached him with a smile. "Charlie! Good to see you again," Derek said, clapping him on the back. "I’ve got something special for you this year. You’ll be in your own room—kind of a reward for being one of the older kids now. You’ll have a bit of privacy."
Charlie forced a smile and nodded. "Yeah, thanks," he mumbled. Derek seemed proud of the gesture, but Charlie didn’t share his enthusiasm. His own room sounded like more isolation, not a reward. He glanced around at the other kids already settling into their shared cabins, laughing and joking with their friends.
It didn’t feel special to him—it just felt lonely.
"Derek, is there a possibility that Charlie could maybe work here as a counselor? Maybe organizing sports?" Tom asked with enthusiasm, catching Charlie's attention. Work with kids? Sure, he could handle his siblings, but spending the summer interacting with other kids wasn’t exactly on his bucket list.
"Dad—" Charlie began, but Derek cut him off.
"That's not a bad idea. Actually, I just got a call that one of our counselors couldn’t make it—he wanted to visit his boyfriend in Texas. You know how long-distance relationships go," Derek explained casually, while Charlie shot a pissed glance at Tom.
Derek clearly understood what the camp counselors needed. Why couldn’t Tom see that this wasn’t something Charlie wanted?
"If you’re up for it, Charlie, you could take that spot. It’s not too much work, and hey, you'd get paid $20 an hour," Derek added with a grin.
Charlie’s mood shifted slightly at the mention of money. Maybe that could save the summer after all. If he saved up, he could visit Beth sooner than planned.
"Alright, fine. I’ll do it," Charlie finally agreed, his voice lacking excitement but at least sounding resigned.
Tom’s face lit up with approval. "That’s the spirit, son! You’ll do great," he said, patting Charlie on the back. "Well, I better head out. Keep an eye on your brothers, and try to have some fun, alright?"
Charlie nodded and gave a quick goodbye to his dad, watching as Tom got back in the car and drove off. As soon as the car disappeared down the dirt road, Derek turned to him with a more relaxed smile.
"Glad you’re on board, Charlie. You know, the counselors this year are much younger—most of them are around your age, so I’m sure you’ll bond with them pretty easily. They’re a fun group," Derek said.
Charlie raised an eyebrow, unsure if that would really make a difference. He wasn’t here to make friends, but at least he wouldn’t be surrounded by people way older than him. Maybe, just maybe, the summer wouldn't be a total disaster after all.
"Yeah, we’ll see," Charlie muttered, grabbing his bag.
☀️
After settling into his cabin, Charlie tossed his bag onto the bed and took a deep breath. The room was basic but comfortable enough—just a bed, a small dresser, and a window that looked out onto the campgrounds.
Once he was done unpacking, Charlie decided to head out and explore his surroundings. The camp looked just as he remembered: the lake shimmering in the distance, canoes lined up by the dock, kids already running around, and counselors setting up activities. Nothing had changed, yet somehow, it felt different now that he was one of the staff.
As he wandered through the camp, he spotted a familiar sight—an art station, complete with easels and colorful paint splatters covering the ground. He hadn’t given much thought to it until he saw someone adjusting the easels. She was facing away from him, but something about her posture and the way her hair caught the breeze felt oddly familiar.
Then it clicked.
Y/N.
Y/N Y/L/N, the girl who used to challenge him at every turn, the one who teased him just as much as he teased her. The one he hadn't seen since that infamous summer before high school, when they shared that awkward but unforgettable kiss.
He was about to call out her name when she turned around. There she was, looking even better than he remembered. She had grown up in all the right ways—confident and sharp-eyed, with a smudge of blue paint on her cheek that made her look even more vibrant.
But when her eyes locked onto Charlie’s, her expression quickly shifted from neutral to something bordering on annoyance. It was as if all the memories of their past antics came flooding back.
"Well, if it isn’t Charlie Baker," Y/N said, folding her arms and raising an eyebrow. "Here I was hoping my summer would be free of your brand of chaos."
Charlie blinked, momentarily taken aback. "Y/N? You’re a counselor here? For—" He glanced at the easels. "Art?"
"Yeah. Not that you'd know anything about it," she shot back, wiping the paint off her cheek with the back of her hand. "What’s your excuse this time? Did they finally run out of people to put up with your pranks, so now you're stuck with running the sports program?"
Charlie smirked, trying to maintain his cool, though her teasing stung. "Nah, just filling in for someone. But wow, Y/N, you haven’t changed a bit. Still packing that same fiery attitude."
Y/N narrowed her eyes, though a reluctant smile tugged at her lips. "And you still have that same cocky grin. Must be exhausting to keep that up all these years."
Charlie chuckled, shaking his head. "I figured you might have mellowed out by now. Guess I was wrong."
"Disappointed?" she asked, arching a brow.
"Not really," Charlie admitted, though his eyes lingered on her a moment longer than he intended. If anything, he thought she looked better than ever, but he wasn’t about to let her know that. At least, not yet.
Y/N sighed dramatically, tossing a rag onto the art table. "Well, try not to make too much trouble this summer."
Charlie grinned. "Wouldn’t dream of it."
As Y/N turned back to the art table, Charlie couldn’t resist the urge to follow her. He sauntered over, hands in his pockets, and leaned casually against the table.
“So, Y/N,” Charlie began with a playful lilt, “where have you been hiding all these years? Haven’t seen you since that unforgettable summer before high school.”
Y/N didn’t look up from her work but let a sarcastic smile creep onto her face. “Oh, you know, just off having a blast and avoiding people like you. It’s been a full-time job.”
Charlie chuckled. “Avoiding me? Surely, I’m not that memorable.”
“Yeah, well, it’s amazing how quickly people forget the endless stream of pranks and trouble you caused,” Y/N shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “I’ve been busy with school like every normal high schooler.”
As she turned to grab more supplies, Charlie noticed the array of vibrant paints on the table. An idea sparked, and he grabbed a pot of red paint. With a mischievous grin, he gave it a quick shake and, with a flick of his wrist, let a splash of red land right on her shoulder.
The children around the art table burst into laughter, their amusement evident. Y/N froze, her eyes widening as she glanced down at the paint splotch. Slowly, she turned to face Charlie, who was struggling to hold back his laughter.
“Seriously?” Y/N said, her voice a mix of irritation and exasperation.
Charlie’s grin widened. “Just thought I’d brighten up your day a bit. You know, you’re looking even more colorful now.”
Y/N’s eyes narrowed. “And you’re still as charming as ever. Must be exhausting trying to stay that annoying.”
“Ah, come on. You know you missed me,” Charlie said with a wink. “Can’t let you forget about me that easily.”
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress a reluctant smile. “I wish I could.”
Charlie laughed, feeling a rush of nostalgia mixed with excitement. As Y/N grabbed a rag to clean the paint off her shoulder, Charlie’s playful grin stayed in place. Maybe this summer would be more interesting than he’d thought, especially with Y/N around to keep him on his toes.
☀️
Later that afternoon, Charlie found himself in the middle of a lively soccer game with a group of energetic boys. He was reveling in the game, showing off his skills and thoroughly enjoying himself. The boys cheered, their laughter echoing across the field as Charlie deftly maneuvered the ball.
Meanwhile, Y/N and a group of girls watched from the sidelines. They exchanged sly glances and whispered among themselves. ,,Okay girls, like we planned it out alright?” ,,why are we doing this again Y/N?” one of the girls asked Y/N with a giggle.
,,Cause we are independent women and we are better than them” ,,What does independent mean-“ ,,Be quiet Maya” Another girl snapped at Maya.
With a smirk, Y/N decided it was the perfect time for some well-deserved payback. She quickly gathered some flour and a water balloon launcher, and the girls readied their arsenal.
As Charlie focused on scoring yet another goal, Y/N signaled the girls to launch their surprise. Flour-filled balloons soared through the air and exploded over the soccer field, coating Charlie and the boys in a cloud of white powder.
“What the—?” Charlie’s shout was muffled as flour covered his face. He blinked through the haze, spotting Y/N and the girls hiding behind a tree, barely containing their laughter.
“Oh, look at that,” Y/N called out, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Charlie Baker, covered in flour. Who would’ve thought your soccer skills would include a new career as a walking pastry?”
Charlie, trying to wipe the flour from his eyes, shot her a playful glare. “Nice aim, Sweetheart. I see you’ve perfected the art of pastry warfare.”
The boys erupted into giggles, turning the prank into a full-blown flour fight. Charlie joined in, tossing flour back at the girls with a grin. “Guess you’re the reigning champion of the prank league now.”
Y/N smirked, hands on her hips as she surveyed the mess. “Just thought I’d give you a taste of your own medicine. You didn’t think I’d let you get away with that paint job, did you?”
Charlie laughed, shaking his head. “No, I guess I should’ve expected this. I’m impressed.”
Y/N rolled her eyes dramatically. “Well, it’s not like you’re the only one who can dish it out. But don’t get too comfortable. I’m just getting started.”
As the flour fight reached its peak, with kids running around covered in powder and laughter filling the air, a stern voice cut through the chaos.
“Alright, that’s enough!” Counselor Mark stormed onto the field, his face a mixture of frustration and disbelief.
Mark, known for his no-nonsense attitude, took in the scene of flour-covered kids and smirking counselors with a raised eyebrow. Charlie and Y/N, still covered in flour, stopped mid-throw and turned to face Mark.
Charlie, his face smeared with white powder, tried to suppress a grin, while Y/N wiped a bit of flour from her cheek and put on a sheepish expression.
“Seriously, guys?” Mark said, his tone sharp. “This is not what we’re here for. I get that it’s all in good fun, but look at this mess.”
Charlie shrugged, still trying to keep his playful demeanor. “It was just a bit of fun, Mark. We were trying to keep the kids entertained.”
Mark’s gaze shifted to Y/N, who raised an eyebrow in a mix of defiance and amusement. “And I’m sure Y/N was just doing her part to make sure everyone’s summer here is memorable, right?”
Y/N folded her arms and tried to look contrite, though her eyes betrayed her amusement. “Yeah, you could say that. I guess we got a bit carried away.”
Mark sighed, his frustration not entirely masking his grudging admiration for their creativity. “Well, carried away is an understatement. Next time, let’s keep the pranks out of the organized activities and focus on making the summer fun without turning it into a disaster zone.”
Charlie nodded, trying to look apologetic. “Got it. We’ll keep it in check. Just thought we’d add a little excitement.”
Mark’s expression softened slightly as he glanced around at the kids, who were now eagerly helping clean up the flour. “Alright. But remember, the real goal here is to be role models. Let’s show these kids how to have fun without making a mess.”
“Understood,” Y/N said, giving a small, rueful smile.
Mark nodded and turned to help with the cleanup, leaving Charlie and Y/N standing in the middle of the field, still covered in flour.
,,What a great role model you are” Charlie smirked.
,,Shut up, Baker.” Y/N shot him a glare.

You and the boys had bonded quite a lot since Kansas. You and Sam had always been close; bonding over random pop culture debates, philosophical musings, and your interest in the pursuit of knowledge. It was your relationship with Dean that was really starting to confuse you.
You knew you were attracted to him; that much you had never denied. But it was the way your heart seemed to tug toward him in your chest when you two made your pinky promise next to his car that confused the hell out of you. You and Dean were friends, and that was truly all you needed from him. Or, at least, that was what you told yourself.
Sam was on the phone with one of his father’s friends named Caleb. The boys were growing frustrated at their inability to find him. Every lead they followed was a dead end.
“You know, maybe we should call the Feds. File a missing person’s,” Sam suggested.
“We've talked about this. Dad'd be pissed if we put the Feds on his tail,” Dean rebutted.
Sam shook his head. “I don't care anymore.”
Dean’s cell phone rang on the bed next to you. You got up to bring it over to him.
“After all that happened back in Kansas, I mean, he should've been there, Dean. You said so yourself. You tried to call him and… nothing. You know, he could be dead for all we know.”
Dean took the phone from you. “Don't say that! He's not dead! He's – he's…”
“He's what? He's hiding? He's busy?” Sam argued.
Dean went to respond, but the message on his cell phone caught his attention. “Huh. I don't believe it.”
“What?” you asked, peering over his shoulder.
“It's, uh, it's a text message. It's coordinates.” Dean immediately opened his laptop and began clacking away.
“You think Dad was texting us?” Sam asked.
“He's given us coordinates before,” Dean said.
“The man can barely work a toaster, Dean.”
“Sam, it's good news! It means he's okay, or alive at least.”
“Well, was there a number on the caller ID?”
“Nah, it said 'unknown,’ “ Dean replied.
“Well, where do the coordinates point?”
“That's the interesting part. Rockford, Illinois.”
“Interesting how?” you asked him.
“I checked the local Rockford paper. Take a look at this.” He handed the paper to you. “This cop, Walter Kelly, comes home from his shift, shoots his wife, then puts the gun in his mouth, blows his brains out. And earlier that night, Kelly and his partner responded to a call at the Roosevelt Asylum.”
“Okay, I'm not following. What has this have to do with us?” Sam questioned.
“Dad earmarked the same asylum in the journal. Let’s see…” Dean flipped to the page. “Here. Seven unconfirmed sightings, two deaths; till last week at least. I think this is where he wants us to go.”
Sam snorted. “This is a job. Dad wants us to work a job.”
“Well, maybe we'll meet up with him? Maybe he's there?”
“Maybe he's not? I mean, he could be sending us there, by ourselves, to hunt this thing.”
“Who cares! If he wants us there, it's good enough for me!”
“Guys—” Their bickering had gotten more frequent in days of late, and it was beginning to bug the shit out of you.
“This doesn't strike you as weird? The texting? The coordinates?” Sam pressed.
“Sam! Dad's tellin' us to go somewhere, we're goin'.”
Sam made a bitchface at his brother and sighed.
***
Your destination was a bar in Rockford you had stalked the cop you knew was the partner of the deceased. You found him sitting at the bar, nursing a beer. You monitored the scene from a few tables behind. Dean was to meet you there after his interaction with the cop.
“You're Daniel Gunderson. You're a cop, right?” he asked.
The cop nodded.
“Huh. I'm uh, Nigel Tufnel, The Chicago Tribune. Mind if I ask you a couple of questions, about your partner?” he asked enthusiastically.
“Yeah, I do. I'm just tryin' to have a beer here.”
“That's okay, I swear it won't take that long. I just want to get the story in your words,” Dean continued.
The cop was not amused. “A week ago, my partner was sitting in that chair. Now he's dead. You gonna ambush me here?”
“Sorry. But I need to know what happened.”
Sam came up and pushed Dean aside roughly. “Hey buddy, why don't you leave the poor guy alone! The man's an officer! Why dontcha show a little respect!”
He was calling an unnecessary amount of attention to himself that amused you slightly. Dean paused, glaring before walking over to you.
“Spinal Tap?” you questioned, laughing, referencing his fake name. “Seriously?” The two of you began walking out of the bar over to the Impala.
“What? It’s a classic!”
“I’m not arguing that,” you said. “But what are the chances he knew your reference?” You sat on the hood next to Dean.
“Oh, come on, we’re probably the only two people in Rockford who even know what Spinal Tap is,” he remarked.
A moment of silence passed between the two of you.
“How’s your neck healing?” Dean asked.
You turned your neck up to him. There was still quite a bit of bruising from the way you were strangled back in Kansas. He sucked in air through his teeth. “That’s gotta hurt, huh?”
“Meh, a bit,” you answered. “I’m a big girl. I can handle it.”
He rolled his eyes at you. “Are we ever gonna talk about Kansas?”
“Hmm… I did pinky-promise,” you jested.
“That you did.” He looked at you expectantly.
You sighed. “My dad was uh, a bit of an asshole. The man’s dead and I still can’t decide if I love or hate him. He was mean. And that’s putting it mildly. For instance, like, one time, I missed a shot on a hunt, and he beat me til I was black and blue later that night. Said it was gonna make me sharper, and he’d rather me hate him than fuck up again like that on a hunt. I was twelve.”
“Wow,” Dean responded quietly. “How young were you when he started taking you on hunts?”
“Ten.”
“Holy crap. Could you even hold a gun at that age?’
“Please, I’ve been able to hold a gun since I was four. He said I needed a dose of reality if I wanted to complain so much about being in the motel room with my brother.”
He nodded. “How much younger was your brother?”
“Two years.” You smiled at the memory of him, but your smile quickly faded. “I, uh, took beatings for him a lot.”
Dean nodded again. He paused for a moment. “I’m sorry.”
You shrugged and sighed. “It’s over now.”
“Yeah, but I know it still hurts.”
You don’t know what made you do it, but you leaned your head on his shoulder. He tensed under you briefly, but let you keep your head there.
You hadn’t noticed Sam walked out of the bar and was approaching the two of you. “You two look cozy.”
You jerked away from Dean.
“Bite me,” the older Winchester answered. "Shoved me kinda hard in there, buddy boy.”
“I had to sell it, didn't I? It's method acting,” Sam quipped.
Dean looked confused.
“Never mind.”
“What'd you find out from Gunderson?” you asked.
“So, Walter Kelly was a good cop. Head of his class, even-keeled, he had a bright future ahead of him.”
“What about at home?”
“He and his wife had a few fights, like everybody, but he was mostly smooth sailing. They were even talking about having kids.”
“Alright, so either Kelly had some deep-seated crazy waiting to bust out, or something else did it to him,” Dean nodded. “What'd Gunderson tell you about the asylum?”
“A lot.” Sam filled you in on the local legends and experiences teens had in the place. Kids frequently dared each other to spend the night because it was said everyone who stayed all night went crazy.
You and the boys arrived at the asylum a little while later. The interior of the building was gray and gloomy. Metal carts were laying on their sides, vials spilled all over the ground, and you were sure you would find needles sticking out of the soles of your boots by the end of the endeavor. Dust covered every surface, flaring up your allergy, and every few minutes you were sneezing.
“So apparently the cops chased the kids here… into the south wing,” Sam described, gesturing to the sign above the door.
“South wing, huh? Wait a second…” He pulled out his dad’s journal. “1972. Three kids broke into the south wing, only one survived. Way he tells it, one of his friends went nuts and started lighting up the place.”
“So whatever's going on, the south wing is the heart of it,” you continued.
“But if the kids are spelunking the asylum, why aren't there a ton more deaths?” Dean questioned.
You noticed a broken chain on one of the doors. “Looks like the doors are usually chained. Could've been chained up for years. Keep people out or keep something in.”
Sam slowly pushed the door open, and the three of you began heading down the hallway.
“Let me know if you see any dead people, Haley Joel,” Dean remarked at his brother. He was passing his EMF meter over various surfaces in the hallway.
“Dude, enough,” Sam groaned.
“I'm serious. You gotta be careful, all right? Ghosts are attracted to that whole ESP thing you got going on.”
“I told you, it's not ESP! I just have strange vibes sometimes. Weird dreams.”
“And that’s not ESP?” you quipped.
Sam made a face at you. “Okay, maybe it is, but—”
You snickered.
“Not funny, (Y/N/N).” He playfully shoved your shoulder. “You get any reading on that thing or not?”
Dean shook his head. “Nope. Of course, it doesn't mean no one's home.”
“Spirits can appear during certain hours of the day.”
“Yeah, the freaks come out at night.”
“Hey, Sam, who do you think is the hotter psychic: Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Love Hewitt, or you?” Dean deadpanned.
You and Dean laughed, and Sam shoved the both of you. The three of you entered another room. You looked around, a sinking feeling hitting your stomach.
“Man. Electro-shock. Lobotomies. They did some twisted stuff to these people,” you shook your head.
“Kinda like my man Jack in Cuckoo's Nest.” Dean made crazy eyes and grinned at you and Sam.
Sam ignored him and his smile dropped.
“So. Whaddaya think? Ghosts possessing people?” Dean questioned.
“Maybe. Or maybe it's more like Amityville, or the Smurl hunting,” Sam suggested.
“Spirits driving them insane. Kinda like my man Jack in The Shining.” Dean grinned again.
“You are such a nerd,” you mumbled.
“Hey, don’t talk about Sam like that,” Dean gibed back, even though he knew you were talking about him.
“Dean. When are we going to talk about it?” Sam asked his brother.
“Talk about what?”
“About the fact Dad's not here.”
Dean clicked his tongue. “Oh. I see. How ’bout… never.”
“I'm being serious, man. He sent us here.”
“So am I, Sam. Look, he sent us here, he obviously wants us here,” said Dean gruffly. “We'll pick up the search later.”
“It doesn't matter what he wants.”
“See. That attitude? Right there? That is why I always get the extra cookie.”
You scoffed. “C’mon, guys, cut it out.”
Sam ignored you. “Dad could be in trouble; we should be looking for him. We deserve some answers, Dean. I mean, this is our family we're talking about.”
“I understand that, Sam, but he's given us an order.”
You loved Sam, but you were on Dean’s side. Your father’s training probably programmed you that way.
“So, what, we gotta always follow Dad's orders?” Sam bit back.
“Of course we do.”
Sam huffed frustratedly. Dean stared back and then turned away, ending the conversation.
You started poking around the room a bit more. You picked up a dusty sign off the floor and sneezed again. “ 'Sanford Ellicott'... You know what we gotta do. We gotta find out more about the south wing. See if something happened here.” You put the sign back down and walked away from the boys.
***
You and Dean dropped Sam off at a therapy session with Sanford Ellicott’s son, James Ellicott. You figured it was the best way to get information from someone close to the situation. In the meantime, you and Dean spent some time hanging out in the Impala.
Conversation between the two of you never felt forced. You still enjoyed pushing each other’s buttons, but you genuinely got along very well.
“Okay, so, I told you about my fucked up family, you need to talk about yours,” you told Dean.
He scoffed and gave you a bitchface. “Says who?”
“Says me. Now, spill.”
Dean seemed uncomfortable.
You took the hint. “Okay, if you don’t wanna talk about it now, will you tell me at some point?”
He nodded and stuck out his pinky with a smirk. “Promise.”
A smile spread across your face and you linked his finger with yours. “Okay, then. Different question. What’s your favorite color?”
He scoffed lightheartedly. “What?”
“I’m serious! What’s your favorite color? Mine’s (Y/F/C).”
“Blue,” he answered.
“Like, baby blue or navy blue?”
“Definitely closer to navy,” he told you. He was eyeing you strangely again.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” you asked him.
“You… confuse me.”
“Oh?” You raised a brow. “Why?”
He shook his head. The one thing you hated about Dean was his inability to talk about quite literally any of his feelings.
“Will you ever tell me why?” you asked.
He nodded and stuck out his pinky again. You smiled warmly and took it.
***
“He’s been in there for-fucking-ever,” you groaned, pushing yourself off the wall of the building.
As if on cue, Sam walked out at that moment.
“Dude! What the hell were you talking about?” you asked as you headed back to the car with the brothers.
“Just the hospital, you know,” Sam responded.
“And...?” Dean pushed.
“And the south wing? It's where the housed the really hard cases. The psychotics, the criminally insane.”
“Sounds cozy.”
“Yeah. And one night in '64, they rioted. Attacked staff. Attacked each other.”
“So the patients took over the asylum?” you questioned.
“Apparently,” Sam answered.
“Any deaths?”
“Some patients, some staff. I guess it was pretty gory. Some of the bodies were never even recovered, including our chief of staff, Ellicott.”
“Awesome. What do you mean ‘never recovered’?”
“Cops scoured every inch of the place but I guess the patients must've...stuffed the bodies somewhere hidden.”
“That's grim,” the older brother commented.
“Yeah. So, they transferred all the remaining patients and closed the hospital down,” Sam explained.
“So, to sum it up, we've got a bunch of violent deaths and a bunch of unrecovered bodies.”
“And a bunch of angry spirits.”
Dean chuckled humorlessly. “Good times. Let's check out the hospital tonight.”
***
You held a shotgun full of rock salt round, Sam a video camera and flashlight, and Dean his EMF meter.
“Getting readings?” Sam asked as you walked down the labyrinth of hallways in the asylum.
“Yeah, big time,” his brother responded.
“This place is orbing like crazy.”
“All of these unrecovered bodies are probably causing it,” you added.
“We gotta find ’em and burn ’em. Just be careful though. The only thing that makes me more nervous than a pissed off spirit... is the pissed off spirit of a psycho killer.” Dean’s unwavering confidence cracked a little in a rare moment of vulnerability.
The three of you continued searching. You and Sam split off to one room and Dean took another. You looked around the debris scattered through the room to try and find some of the bodies.
Sam’s yelp caused you to wheel around “(Y/N), shotgun!” he called to you
You came up behind him. “Sam, drop!”
He obeyed and you shot the apparition in front of him square in the face.
Dean came running into the room. “What happened?”
“That was weird.” Sam was breathless when he got up from the ground.
You furrowed your eyebrows at him as the three of you made your way out of the room. “Why?”
“She didn't attack me,” the younger brother replied.
“Looked pretty aggro from where I was standing,” you retorted.
“She didn't hurt me. She didn't even try! So if she didn't wanna hurt me then what did she want?”
You shook your head and shrugged. You and the brothers jerked in the direction of a sound coming from a room you were passing. You raised your shotgun, and your eyes flicked to Sam’s. He nodded at you to go into the room first. You approached a ragged metal bed that had been turned on its side in the corner of the room. You could see something hiding behind it.
Sam tipped the bed over and you aimed the shotgun at the thing behind it. However, the girl hiding behind it screeched and jerked further back into the corner.
“It's alright,” Dean told her, “we're not going to hurt you. It's okay. What's your name?”
“Katherine. Kat.”
“Okay. I'm Dean, this is Sam and (Y/N).”
“What are you doing here!?” you asked her.
“Um, my boyfriend, Gavin,” she replied shakily.
“Is he here?” Dean questioned.
Kat nodded. “Somewhere. He thought it would be fun, try and see some ghosts. I thought it was all just… you know. Pretend. I've seen things. I heard Gavin scream and…” she trailed off, tears welling in her eyes.
“Alright. Kat? Come on. Sam's gonna get you out of here and then we're gonna find your boyfriend.” Dean gestured between the two of you.
“No! No,” she protested. “I'm not going to leave without Gavin. I'm coming with you.”
“It's no joke around here, okay. It's dangerous,” Dean responded.
“That's why I gotta find him.”
You looked over at Sam, who shrugged.
“Alright, I guess we gonna split up then. Let's go,” Dean commanded your group. Kat went with Dean and you headed off with Sam. You kept your shotgun raised just behind Sam, tension gripping your chest.
“Gavin.... Gavin?” Sam called.
A few minutes of walking later, you noticed a figure on the ground unconscious. Sam crouched to wake the boy up, and you lowered your gun.
Gavin awoke and freaked out, pushing himself away from you and Sam.
You were consistently impressed by Sam’s ability to calm others down. “Hey, Gavin. It's okay, We’re here to help.”
Gavin calmed down considerably, but still sounded slightly panicked. “Who are you?”
“My name is Sam, this is (Y/N). Uh, we found your girlfriend.”
“Kat?” Gavin got up from the floor. “Is she alright?”
“Yeah. She's worried about you. Are you okay?” you asked.
“I was running. I think I fell.”
“Running from… what?” you questioned.
“There was...there was this girl. Her face. It was all messed up,” he explained.
“Okay listen, did this girl... did she try and hurt you?” Sam asked.
Gavin looked back at Sam and shook his head. “What? No, she... uh…”
“She what?”
“She kissed me.” Gavin’s cheeks flared in embarrassment.
Sam seemed to feel uncomfortable, too. “Uh, um, but- but she didn't hurt you, physically?”
His eyes widened. “Dude! She kissed me. I'm scarred for life!”
“Well, trust me, it could have been a lot worse,” you snickered. “Do you remember anything else?”
“She uh, actually, she tried to whisper something in my ear.”
“What?”
Gavin shook his head. “I don't know. I ran like hell.”
You scrubbed a hand over your eyes. “Okay, let’s go.”
The three of you went walking on, only to hear a female scream and Dean calling Kat’s name. The three of you broke off running toward the sound.
“What's going on?” you asked Dean as you approached him. He was trying to jimmy open a heavy metal door with a pipe.
“She's inside with one of them,” the older Winchester explained.
“Help me!” Kat screamed from the inside.
“Kat!” her boyfriend called back.
“Get me outta here!”
Sam pushed Gavin back to get against the door. “Kat, it's not going to hurt you. Listen to me. You've got to face it. You've got to calm down.”
You and Dean turned to Sam. “She's gotta what?!” you exclaimed in unison.
“These spirits, they're not trying to hurt us, they're trying to communicate. You gotta face it. You gotta listen to it,” Sam urged.
“You face it!” Kat protested.
“No! It's the only way to get out of there.”
“No!” she cried.
“Look at it, come on. You can do it,” Sam told her.
And then, quiet. There was nothing for a few minutes.
“Kat?” Gavin called through the door.
You and the brothers backed away from it. “Man, I hope you're right about this,” Dean told his brother.
“Yeah, me too.”
At that moment, the lock clicked and the door slowly opened. Kat stood in the doorway, shock overcoming her face.
“Oh, Kat.” Gavin hugged his girlfriend.
You headed into the room Kat had been locked in. Nothing. You came back out and shook your head at the brothers.
“One thirty-seven,” Kat muttered.
Dean quirked a brow. “Sorry?”
“It whispered in my ear. One thirty-seven.”
“Room number,” you and the boys muttered in sync.
The three of you crouched along the wall and led the teenagers back to the exit. Sam was to take them out of the asylum while you and Dean went to investigate room 137.
You sneezed again for the umpteenth time. Your eyes were itching you, too.
“Are you allergic to me or something?” Dean asked you as you moved down the hall toward room 137.
You giggled. “No. Dust.”
“Aw, sweetheart—” he mocked, “—don’t worry, I’ll protect you from the dust bunnies.”
You rubbed your nose and sniffed. “I’m gonna kill you.” You pushed against the door of room 137, only to meet major resistance. You figured there was a bunch of furniture blocking it.
“Move, move,” Dean told you. Of course, he shoved the door open with ease. He looked at you smugly.
“Whatever,” you deadpanned, pushing past him into the room. You moved your flashlight around the dark room, finding tons of papers scattered over the floor. Filing cabinets were laying on their sides and a desk was completely broken in half. You sifted through folders in one of the only upright file cabinets.
Dean was behind you, and you could hear wood creaking. He grunted. You turned to see him trying to pry a wood panel off the wall.
“Need help, princess?” you asked.
“No,” he grunted once more, finally jerking the panel off. Inside was a satchel that was relatively dust free. “This is why I get paid the big bucks.”
You rolled your eyes at him.
The two of you pulled up chairs next to one another and began flipping through the journal inside the satchel. There were mad scribblings and hand-drawn pictures of the strangest medical instruments.
“Well, all work and no play makes Dr. Ellicott a very dull boy,” Dean remarked.
“This is insane,” you muttered, disgust overtaking you as you read the doctor’s accounts of what he had done to his patients.
“Yeah, I want this fucker nice and crispy,” Dean said. “C’mon.”
He led you back to the exit of the asylum, and Dean jerked back into you suddenly at the sound of a shotgun.
“Damn it, damn it, don't shoot! It's us!” Dean called, trying to catch his breath.
You heard Kat from around the corner next. “Sorry! Sorry.”
“Son of a…” Dean huffed out a quick breath. He led you around the corner. “What are you still doing here?! Where's Sam?”
“He went to the basement. You called him,” Gavin said, looking at Dean dumbfounded.
“We didn’t call anybody,” you returned.
“His cell phone rang. He said it was Dean.” Kat was confused, too.
You and Dean came to the realization of what happened.
“Fuck,” you muttered. “Basement, huh?”
Dean found Sam’s discarded duffel bag and grabbed an extra handgun. He handed it to you and grabbed a shotgun for himself. “Alright. Watch yourselves. And watch out for me!”
***
You and Dean had your guards up immediately upon entering the basement. The two of you called out to Sam, only to get no response. When you turned around, however, Sam was right in front of you. “Holy shit, dude!” you lowered your handgun. “I almost shot you.”
“Man, answer me when I'm calling you! You alright?” Dean said.
Sam sounded different to you. “Yeah. I'm fine.”
You eyed him strangely.
“You know it wasn't me who called your cell, right?” his older brother told him.
“Yeah, I know. I think something lured me down here.”
“I think I know who. Dr. Ellicott. That's what the spirits have been trying to tell us. You haven't seen him, have you?”
Sam shook his head. “No. How do you know it was him?”
“’Cause we found his log book. Apparently he was experimenting on his patients, awful stuff. Makes lobotomies look like a couple of aspirin,” Dean retorted.
Sam’s face was set in hard lines. He was scaring you, if you were honest. “But it was the patients who rioted.”
“Yeah. They were rioting against Dr. Ellicott. Dr. Feelgood was working on some sort of, like, extreme rage therapy. He thought that if he could get his patients to vent their anger then they would be cured of it. Instead it only made them worse and worse and angrier and angrier. So I'm thinking, what if his spirit is doing the same thing? To the cop? To the kids in the seventies, making them so angry they become homicidal,“ Dean went on. “Come on, we gotta find his bones and torch ’em.”
You continued to eye Sam, not quite sure what was going on with him.
“How? The police never found his body.” Sam’s movements were almost robotic.
“The log book said he had some sort of hidden procedure room down here somewhere where he'd work on his patients. So, if I was a patient I'd drag his ass down here, do a little work on it myself.”
“I don't know, it sounds kinda…”
“Crazy?”
Sam nodded.
Dean motioned for his brother to follow him into the next room. You continued to watch Sam carefully, and the sly look he gave his brother did not escape you.
“I told you I looked everywhere. I didn't find a hidden room,” Sam said.
“Well, that's why they call it hidden.”
You shushed the boys. “You hear that?” You crouched to the ground and Dean followed suit.
Sam was still standing behind him. “What?”
“There's a door here.” Dean felt along the wall until he found it.
“Dean.” You heard a gun click behind you. “Step back from the door.”
You and Dean rose from the ground with your hands raised. Blood was trickling down Sam’s face from his nose.
“Sam, put the gun down,” Dean pleaded quietly.
Sam’s voice was hard. “Is that an order?”
Dean shook his head. “Nah, it's more of a friendly request.”
Sam pointed the gun straight at Dean’s chest. “ ’Cause I'm getting pretty tired of taking your orders.”
“Sam, stop it,” you told him. “I fucking knew it. Ellicott did something to you.”
“(Y/N), for once in your life, just shut your mouth.”
You knew it wasn’t Sam talking and you tried not to take offense.
“What are you gonna do, Sam? Gun's filled with rock salt. It's not gonna kill me,” Dean bit back.
Sam shot Dean square in the chest. The shot threw him backward through the hidden door. “No. But it will hurt like hell.”
“Dean!” you cried, rushing to his aid.
“Get back, (Y/N),” Sam demanded.
“What the fuck, Sam? Cut it out!”
Dean grabbed your arm, doing his best to silence you and steady himself. “We gotta burn Ellicott's bones and all this will be over, and you'll be back to normal.”
“I am normal. I'm just telling the truth for the first time. I mean, why are we even here? ’Cause you're following Dad's orders like a good little soldier? Because you always do what he says without question? Are you that desperate for his approval?” the younger brother spat.
“This isn't you talking, Sam,” Dean groaned, head lolling back against the floor.
Sam tapped the gun to the side of his head. “That's the difference between you and me. I have a mind of my own. I'm not pathetic, like you.”
“So what are you gonna do, huh? Are you gonna kill me? Then (Y/N)?”
Sam laughed bitterly. “You know what, I am sick of doing what you tell me to do. We're no closer to finding Dad today than we were six months ago.”
“Well, then here. Let me make it easier for you." He held his treasured handgun out to Sam.
“Dean, no,” you pleaded, grabbing his wrist. The look he gave you told you to trust him. “Come on. Take it. Real bullets are gonna work a hell of a lot better than rock salt.”
Sam hesitated.
“Take it!” Dean commanded.
He did, and pointed the gun straight at Dean’s face.
Dean laughed humorlessly. “You hate me that much? You think you could kill your own brother? Then go ahead. Pull the trigger. Do it!”
Sam pulled the trigger. The gun clicked, but no bullet left it. He tried once again. You took the opportunity to kick Sam square in the stomach, knocking him to the floor and winding him.
Dean scrambled to his feet. “Man, I'm not going to give you a loaded pistol!”
Sam stared up at him with venomous disdain, only to receive a wicked right cross from Dean. Sam was knocked out cold.
“Sorry, Sammy.” Dean patted his brother’s head on the ground.
“Are you okay?” you asked.
He nodded. “Let’s just get this over with.”
The two of you found the rotting corpse of Dr. Ellicott behind a cupboard door. The smell nearly knocked you out. “Holy hell.”
Dean covered his nose with the back of his hand. “Oh, that's just gross.”
You pinched your nose with one hand and salted the body while Dean covered it in kerosene. “Soak it up,” he told the doctor. The two of you went to stand, only to be knocked to the floor by a gurney flying across the room.
You looked up to see the ghost of Dr. Ellicott right above you. “Don’t be afraid.” The doctor grabbed your face. “I'm going to help you. I'm going to make you all better.” His fingertips felt like they were burning holes into your skull.
You wailed in agony. And suddenly, he backed away from you. You dropped to the ground and looked up to see the doctor turning black and falling to the floor in front of you, crumbling on impact.
You turned your head toward Dean. “Thanks.” You knew he had lit the corpse on fire while the doctor was distracted with you.
“Don’t mention it.”
You turned to the sound of Sam moaning from a distance away.
“You're not going to try and kill us, are ya?” Dean asked him.
Sam flexed his jaw painfully. “No.”
“Good. Because that would be awkward.”
After the three of you bid goodbye to Gavin and Kat, you were on the road again.
“Hey, Dean?” Sam said.
His brother turned to face him.
“I'm sorry, man. I said some awful things back there.”
Dean’s tone was guarded. “You remember all that?”
“Yeah. It's like I couldn't control it. But I didn't mean it, any of it,” Sam told him.
The older brother didn’t sound convinced. “You didn't, huh?”
“Dean—” you started.
Sam cut you off. “No, of course not! Do we need to talk about this?”
Dean turned his attention back to the road. “No. I'm not really in the sharing and caring kinda mood. I just wanna get some sleep.”
“Ditto,” you mumbled, stretching out over the backseat.
Soon enough, you and the boys arrived back in your respective motel rooms. You’d decided to get some shut-eye before heading out to your next adventure. You awoke hours later to the sound of your cell phone ringing. You picked it up, not recognizing the number at all.
You shot straight up at the sound of the man’s introduction. “John?!”

I previously briefly talked about Rio's personality. So, continuing from my last post, here's two versions of my character's personality inspirations. The only difference between them being Rio's appearance with and without his crown.
Like King Julien from the "Madagascar" franchise, Rio sings "I Like to Move It Movie It" in both "Rio" movies. If "Rio 3" happens, I'll try to find a way to fit it in, unless it doesn't get featured in the proposed third movie.
Like Emperor Kuzco from "The Emperor's New Groove" franchise, Rio narrates his own stories as a voice-over. But he will occasionally pause the movie sometimes and show up to either explain things in further detail, or just poke fun at some of the characters or even the setups.
Like Deadpool, Rio's fourth wall-breaking is used in-film and during the times when he pauses the movie. He even points out the obvious on how the whole thing is a movie, or even mentioning the audience from time to time. He'll also mention stuff that Fox owns like "X-Men" and "Ice Age". There's even a logo joke I thought of for either "Rio 2" or "Rio 3" where after Scrat falls off the Blue Sky Studios logo, Rio will sit on the "e" in "Blue", which breaks off, due to Rio's weight. Thus, the logo would now read "Blu Sky Studios" before fading to black.
Like Mufasa, I thought my character could have some similar papa wolf kinds of features. Even going as far as banishing Nigel for attempting to murder Blu, which should be punishable for attempting to murder royalty. But he isn't without his loving qualities, as well as the attention he gets from the birds and humans. Not only is he beloved and respected, but he's also a fair monarch who knows what's best for his subjects, including his son, and his family. He will occasionally give good advice if he needs to, like any father or parent would for their son(s)/daughter(s).
I guess he's also got some of that flair that screams "game show host", to some degree. He also acts as if he were an animated movie star, like how in some movies, like "A Bug's Life", "Toy Story 2", "Monsters Inc.", and even "Mr. Peabody and Sherman", they show outtakes during the end credits, which depict some animated characters like they were actors from a live action film (Click here to learn more about where I'm coming from with this). I don't know if I should do fan outtakes for "Rio" and "Rio 2", but I don't think it's a bad idea, if I could find what I think would work best (ex. After Blu's drawing in the dirt, Rio would draw an acorn in the final film. But for the outtakes, he would draw different things like Wonderbot ("Robots") and maybe a sloth that almost looks like Sid ("Ice Age") before drawing an acorn.).

Love Bug
Tumblr media
Media Orbit Ever After
Character Nigel
Couple Nigel X Reader
Rating Cute + flirty Af
Concept Love bug
I stood doing my usual work, scooping in trash from the endless void of space, I'd done it forever and honestly it was boring as hell. It didn't help now I had moved away into my own little hovel away from my family I was all alone which didn't help my boredom. But I did my work anyway grabbing anything I could use for food, fuel, to repair things really anything of use of or interest for me to tinker with. I spotted something just across the way so I waited and set my net up to catch it and slowly dragged it in, I didn't recognize the symbols but it looked pretty beat up so I threw it down into the hovel and didn't think much more of it. Once finished for the week I headed down into my little hovel it fairly tidy and new given I brought a new one when I moved out as I wanted a sleeker and more modern one then my family had. And I stopped off my space suit and began sorting through the various things I had gathered putting them in the various piles until I got to that weird thing.
It was… something technological. I think. I'd never seen the symbols on it before. But given how beat up it was I doubt it still worked.
I gave it a bit of a tinker and nothing much happened for a good while until I cleaned off some dust and some stuck dirt finding a small old style scanner pad the moment I touched it the whole thing lit up, I was nervous not really wanting to touch it but my curiosity only grew so I touched the scanner pressing my hand against it, just for a second before it became to hot for me to touch almost burning my skin
"Oww!" I complained moving my hand away and I noticed the scanner then covered itself with an imprint of my hand and I saw it had taken a small skin sample from my wrist no bigger than an inch. It then turned off seaming as dead as before I have it a kick and a poke but nothing so I just threw it on my scrap pile maybe it just had enough power and then finally died.
But I didn't think too hard about it having my dinner and a shower before heading to bed for the night.
I work up so cosy, I was so warm, so happy and I was really comfy until it hit me why am I so cosy an cuddly? I opened my eyes and immediately had a heart attack as in my bed laid … a girl and she- she's beautiful. The most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. She was perfect. As if someone went into my mind and cherry picked all the things I adore and brought her into reality, she laid there her hair against the pillow her body against mine in only a small white shirt dress long enough to cover her even if her nipples piled thought the fabric and her ass almost hung out the back
"Ahhh! Who are you!" I yelped in shock
"Humm?" She yawns sitting up rubbing her eyes "what's the matter Nigel?"
"AHH! How do you know my name! Who are you! How did you get here!" I asked getting out of bed putting some space between us
"Hum?" She asks turning her head seeming confused
"What the hell is going on, tell me and tell me right now or I'll swear I'll throw you out the airlock" I told her
She got up from the bed and walked into the main living area I was confused so I followed her and she went to that weird thing I picked up yesterday that had the scanner on it was now slightly open she dug around a moment before coming over and offering me something
"A fileflash?" I asked looking at the thin thing "my god i haven't seen one in years, uhhhh give me a sec I might have something that can read it" i told her taking the small file flash, I dug around my hovel for a good while trying to find anything that could read a file flash and eventually I found one believe it or not in my junk pile so I set it up on my desk it was a little hazardous and cobbled together but It would do. Putting it in and letting it load up whatever was on it all while she excitedly sat at my feet when it finally loaded I had no ability to input so I just looked through the various things trying to find some kind of explanation "Ahhh a sales video that'll explain things"
"Hi, I'm Steve and I'm the CEO of love bug enterprises. First I'd like to thank you for your interest and subsequent purchase from our company." He explained "now you have purchased our premium love bug companion package, contents include a shipping pod, scanning plate, your personal file flash, and of course the love bug itself. Now what exactly is a love bug you may be asking? A love bug is our patented term for the creature 'jilloumiaus danataus pilishsjimus' these are native to  flozin 7 a moon orbiting around Colontis in the ramsavix region of the galaxy. These creatures were on the brink of extinction before our company discovered them and helped them achieve their true purpose." He explained I did my best to listen and make notes even if I often had to bat her off me as she kept trying to cuddle me and lay her head on me "now these creatures are very unique in that they remain in a docile state until given a host some describe them as parasite creatures but we like to say there just little love bugs that lie in wait for their perfect companion. What happens is when a love bug is born it remains in a docile fluid egg state until it reaches maturity from then they wait until they find a host where they take a sample of its genetic material and match it's form to that of its host. Then proceed to feed of the host. They feed on genetic material so believe us they are very happy to live this life. We here at love bug enterprises simply take your order for a companion take a newly mature love bug from its natural habitat and ship it across the galaxy to you where your initial scan provides the bug with your DNA allowing it to form a body the same Species and of course to your personal liking. This can take up to six days to fully form but once formed they will have a built in emotional attachment to you as their host. Remember this is what they would do in the wild so they are very happy. Any issues contact the love bug enterprises help line and have a lovely day" he explained
I quickly looked them up and the company went out of business about fifty years ago, meaning that pod is likely one of the last ones or got lost in shipping at some point… and I let it scan me.
"Ummm time for cuddles Nigel?" She whines nuzzling with my leg
"I uhh I'm your host aren't I?'
"Of course" She nods "and I love you very much" she giggled
"Right… when it says genetic material? What exactly do you feed on?" I asked her
She giggled nuzzling even closer to my leg and stroking her hand delicately across my crotch "oh… okay. Right. Yes. Really?"
"Ummm humm" she nods "I'm hungry master" she pleads
"Uuughhh…okay"

ooc;; it’s a preview of bits and pieces for PART 2 to this HERE-
SIDENOTE: sorry about the format tumblr makes it weird, also sorry I can’t put it under a read more... stupid app -_-;; also if these mistakes plz feel free to tell me.
“Oh, sweetheart, you’re skin and bones. you must be starving let me fix you something to eat.” Mariann gritted her teeth, Nigel placed a hand atop her shoulder. As she hungrily devoured her meal, she realized it been a while since she had such a savory meal. Debbie ate a bowl of her grandma’s soup, two bowls of lucky charms and a large plate of chicken nuggets; she felt unbelievably full. It had been so long since she felt like that.
Growing up she couldn't complain about a hot meal. Despite the portions were small. Being just enough to keep the edge of hunger away, but they never made her feel full. That night when everyone was asleep ( like she should be ) she sits up, moving slowly off the bed, as to not disturb her parents. All evidence suggests Debbie isn't a heavy sleeper.
Hazel hues scanning the walls of canned food, she’d never seen so much food in her life, her mouth watered. Eyes land on canned yams, face twisting up in disgust. But Debbie learned over her short life that you couldn't be to be picky when it came starving or being full and getting to live another day. Quickly and quietly making her to the backyard, it was still weird walking around outside and being safe, living in the wild was like a playing a game of Russian roulette every day. Would you be eaten by a lion or die from dehydration or maybe heatstroke? Now she wasn't under the consent threat of death at every turn it seemed her anxiety didn't take the hint that they safe now were turned up to 100% you would have thought that it would be low.
Plopping down, the grass was slightly wet from the rain. Soaking into her pajamas. Pulling Handfuls of earth, not caring about the dirt under her nails. Burying it next to freshly planted tulips, she had to make sure she had enough food saved up in case... In case of what? Debbie wasn't even sure herself, she just knew it calmed the anxiety that ate away her. That morning Debbie ate two bowls of lucky charms. Glancing out into the yard where she had buried the yums in the garden.
——
The blonde was playing at the park with her friend, Candy, she lived next door and was the first kid Debbie ever met. Debbie was building a sandcastle, humming a tune she heard her mama sing earlier that day. Hazel hues glanced up at her friend, hearing her sounds of disgust.
”Ew, my mom packed bologna again.” Holding the sandwich at arm's length, a look of disgust painted across her face, and in one movement she throws the sandwich into the ground, dirt kicking up. Debbie's eyes widen and her heart jumps into her throat. ”Stop that, don't you, like, know it's bad t’waste food?”
”Who cares, it's gross.”
What? Did she know going hungry was bad, that it was painful and sometimes it got so bad you start crying? Didn't she? Before Debbie knew it she was standing over her, Candy was standing to now, but she looked scared. Surges of frustration pulse through her, Debbie lets out something between a mix of a sob and a yell. she pauses a dark look across her face, shoving Candy hard in the chest. She fells back into the sandbox beat of silence, then she spoke in a cracking voice. ”You- you're crazy!” Before she broke downs sobbing and running to her Mommy.
Debbie grabs the sandwich off the ground, running from the voice of her friend's mom. Hiding behind a tree hunched over on her knees, curled up in on herself, staring down at the sandwich in her hands, digging her fingers leaving small indents on the bread. it was lukewarm from sitting out in the sun. But the food was food after all. Not even bothering to pick the gravel and dirt ( and possibly bugs ) off of it before taking a huge bit, mouth dry making it a bit hard to swallow. Eyes glassy and red-rimmed, eating the rest of it in four bites, like it would be her last meal, her cheeks were wet. Debbie had ever realized she’d been.
She wasn't even hungry.
WEEKS LATER
It has rained the night before and the rain had unearthed Debbie's hiding spot, it was lucky Grandpa Frank found them and stuck them in a bag. Debbie was brushing a doll's hair when he stepped in and sat down next to her despite the protest of his joints. ”Hi, Grandpa!”
”Hey, Bug, so can I ask you something very important?”
The blonde nodded, still brushing the doll's hair. ”Have you been hiding food in the garden?” Debbie tensed, gripping the doll, knuckles bone white. She hung her head in shame. ”Please don't, like, tell Mommy and Daddy they-” She choked on a sob, eyes wide and pleading. ”Whoa, whoa! Don't worry, Debbie. ”Don't worry, you aren't in trouble, pumpkin, grandpa just wants to know.” He gave her a reassuring squeeze.
”I won't tell anyone, cross my heart.” he drew an X over his heart. ”If anyone understands it would be me, I grow up poor as dirt. ”But you don't have to worry about that stuff anymore, ” He wiped her tears. ”But if it makes you feel better, I can put a box in the shed that way you don't tear up grandma's garden. Deal?” She nodded.
——-
This had been going on for a few months now, Mama was also busy; being dragged by her grandma to this or that and Grandpa was to busy with work- so it was up to Debbie to care for her dad. Tip-toeing across the carpeted floor, a sloppily made peanut and jelly sandwich, cracking open the door of her shared bedroom. The darkness of the room swallowing her up, it takes a moment for her eyes to adjust to the darkness.
“I made you, like, a sandwich- it’s your favorite- “ Hazel hues glance from her Daddy who’s buried under the covers, to the uneaten bowl of cereal she left them this morning. A frown crosses her lips, fingers tighten around the plate, a feeling of anger shots through her. “You gotta, like, eat, it’s not good to, like, waste food.” Her Voice trembling, with shaking hands the blonde places the plate on the nightstand.
He didn’t move. “Daddy,” She walked over to him, poking his shoulder. A small mumble left his throat but he didn’t move. She scowled, pushing him with her open palm. Still nothing. “Get up...” Debbie says irritably. “Daddy’s tired, Poppet.” Voice barely above a whisper. “Daddy! get outta bed, dad!!” Debbie hasn't been able to stop the tears. Anger crawling through her that. “GET UP, NIGEL!” Voice shaky, fists balled at her sides. “...Pl- please.” his gaze is fixed ahead, staring at the wall Debbie can barely contain her, her chest felt like it was going to burst; her eyes stung with unshed tears.
NINE MONTHS LATER
Cradling her new baby sister, the baby making babbling noises and raising out for Debbie. She was never going to let her baby sister be hungry and sad and scared like she was. ”Don't worry, Eliza I'll, like, take care of you jus’ like with Daddy.” Voice shaky. That night Debbie took the can of corn out of her backpack, she had stolen from Candy's house and buried it in the garden.

Nigel x Reader \\
Prompt: 34. “You are remarkably well behaved tonight. What did you do?”
Pairings: Nigel x Reader

Tumblr media
You were concerned, Nigel was never this quiet. The man was usually rambunctious and playful but tonight; he was just sitting in his chair, staring out the window with the biggest smirk on his face. You never understood why you fell for Nigel. He was a ruthless gang leader who would stop at nothing to run other leaders out of business on the streets of Bucharest.
“Is something the matter?” He turned to you and smiled, his hand extended to pat his lap gingerly, “Come, (Y/N). Sit down!” Maybe he was still playful tonight, “You look as beautiful as ever, my sweet.” Nigel was turning on the charm, it wasn't quite out of place but something didn't feel right.
You carefully walked over to him, taking a seat on his lap while wrapping your arms around his neck, “You are remarkably well behaved tonight. What did you do?” His eyebrow raised before he grinned wolfishly, “What ever do you mean, gorgeous? I'm always on my best behavior.” You couldn't help but let the loudest laugh explode from your mouth as he bit his bottom lip, his hand coming down to slap your thigh in protest.
“What, you don't believe me?” Now he was almost whining. You hated when he got this way, you always gave in to every single thing he asked for. You shook your head in response to his question, “No, you must have done something. Did you kill someone today?”
Nigel laughed and gave a nod before wrapping his large arms around your middle, moving you closer to him, “Mmm… getting warmer my sweet.” His lips gently pecked at your neck lovingly, it was distracting you. He knew just how to wear you down, “You remember that man, the one who tried to rape you in the alleyway a week ago?”
Your heart almost stopped as you remembered the grimy hands of the man who followed you from the bar you worked at. The alleyway was the route you usually took to get home to Nigel but that night you had been pinned up against the wall, the man wreaked of alcohol and a foul odor. It was something you were hoping to forget, “Yes I remember Nigel, it's hard to forget something like that. Why?”
Suddenly, your brain was going into overdrive as you watched his grin turn into a full smile, his pointy eye teeth sticking out from underneath his top lip, “Oh gorgeous, you know exactly what I did now, don't you?”
The heat flushed to your cheeks as you looked away from him for a moment, “You killed him. I don't want details! I just – he's dead, right?” You looked back at him, his hazel eyes glistened in the light of the street lamps across from your apartment. He gave a small nod before he went back to his ministrations, which were placing tender kisses along your shoulder and neck, “Let's just say he won't be fucking bugging you anymore. He won't be touching my (Y/N).”
You gasped as his kisses began to become slower and longer, your skin was blushing in small patches along your collar bone, “Nigel – you have a meeting soon. Should we really--” he interrupted your sentence when he leaned around you to place his lips on yours, his tongue rolling over your bottom lip. Your body was responding to the stimulation and you grinned when you gently nipped the tip of his tongue.
“Oh, are you going to play hard to get?” You gave a nod and grinned as he licked his bottom lip, “We will continue this after the meeting, you've been a bad girl, (Y/N). You're going to be punished.”
You smiled impishly and turned more so that you could poke his chest, “Bring it on, Nigel.”
You remembered why you fell for Nigel now. Underneath his rough exterior was a man that had a wonderful heart and he chose to share it with you.

Oh, odd question: Dr X has an undead lab assistant called Nigel (The Tv's Frank to his Dr Forrester as you will), whose chest and organ cavities are often used to like store things. Dr X and Nigel both put things there, from tic-tacs to an emergency scalpel stash. Would Abominathan do anything similar, given his odd chest cavity as well?
He’ll conduct experiments on himself and his zipper chest cavity/abdomen comes in handy quite a lot. Whenever he needs access to a certain organ - ziiiiip!
it’s a bit cramped in there, but he manages to store things. Like emergency money, bugs, and small plants, among many others.
Tumblr media
he also likes keeping Little Debby snack cakes in there because it keeps them moist and delicious.

Concept Love bug
"Uuuhhh uuhhhhhh" I gasped trying desperately to get my breath back grabbing my glass from the table and downing about half of it utterly exhausted as she snuggled up with me "You really take It out of me you know"
"Ummm I thought you liked my snuggles"
"I do my little love bug I do, but sometimes you uhh you go a little hard on me," I told her “Come on I need to actually eat something or I’m gonna pass out” I laughed getting up to get out of bed but she clamped her arms and legs around me trying to drag me back to bed with her “I’ll be back in a minute I promise little love bug just let me go for a moment,” I told her “I need to eat and to drink you’re literally sucking the life out of me”
“Can I come, Nigel?”
“Of course, you can” I laughed knowing I wasn’t getting out the bed without her I got up and she tugged along and nuzzled up with me as we went out to the main hovel I grabbed some food and drink all with her snuggled with me sweetly often peppering my skin with little kisses “You’re so cute” I smiled pulling her close and giving her some sweet little kisses “I never did ask actually do you have a name other than love bug?”
“No”
“Oh, did you want one?”
“I’m happy with love bug”
“Well it is a cute pet name but you don’t want an actual name?”
“I’m not sure, what would you like me to be called?”
“Uhhh…. Y/n” I smiled rubbing my nose on hers and giving her sweet kisses
“Y/n, I like that”
“I think it suits you” I smiled “Now do you think you could sit all cosy in bed while I go do some junk searching?”
“H-how long will you be gone?”
“Just an hour or so”
“Will you be back?”
“Of course, I’ll just be outside on top of the hovel you can even watch me out the window if that’ll make you feel better”
“Well okay so long as you won’t be too long”
“I promise” I smiled “Come on I need to get changed then”
“One more snuggle?” she pleads
“...Alright” I smirked tugging her back to bed

Not The Real Molly
First off, I will say part of this was originally an add-on to this post. So, you can read the portions from other contributors, then switch to this one for what I added, as well as newer items.
The person wondered why Molly was looking directly at the camera, breaking the fourth wall like John and Sherlock. Mary looking at Molly was an additional item of question. But, if Molly is under Mary’s control or Molly isn’t as she appears to be…?
As stated by others in the first meta, Molly wears the same colors as Eurus (via the sweater she wore as a John mirror in S3), and they have the same bracelet.
Tumblr media
There is also the red in her hair, during TLD. Although a different shade than that of “E” or Amanda’s red wig, it’s still a bit different than her norm. Maybe just a mood-changer, since it’s brown at the beginning of T6T, and then darker toward the end of that episode. This isn’t conclusive evidence, just another thing that seems possibly off about her role.
There is also the fact we still never saw the footage where she is wearing the wig to make her look like Sherlock, and a shirt that looks like something John would wear (though in the tweet, she only references Sherlock). Odd, since that was her last day on set. If she posed as Sherlock to John though, and vice versa, then it makes more sense.

Meanwhile, almost everyone else in S4 is wearing blue, but not Molly...

The Woman In Green
Based on Conan Doyle's The Adventure of the Empty House, this "Sherlock Holmes" entry finds Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) trying to solve the case of the "Finger Murders"...Though it isn't sporting to reveal Moriarty's nefarious scheme here, it can be noted that The Woman in Green comes to a nailbiting conclusion as a hypnotized Holmes wanders precariously along the ledge of a penthouse! ( x ) (This is the film where water is used as a mirror, and a means to hypnotize people.)
Inside the empty house Watson, looking through the window, believes that he sees a sniper shoot Holmes in his apartment. Holmes then appears at the house and explains that he put a bust of Julius Caesar there because of the bust's resemblance to his own face (Holmes realized that as soon as he sat there, Moriarty would have him killed). Inspector Gregson takes the sniper, a hypnotized ex-soldier, away, but the sniper is later killed on Holmes's doorstep.
Holmes now realizes that Moriarty's plan involves:
1) killing women and cutting off their forefingers, 2) making rich, single men believe they have committed the crime, 3) using this fake information to blackmail them, and 4) counting on the victims being too terrified to expose the scheme.
If we’re still in S2 or Molly is under Mary’s control, until Mary dies in T6T (possibly shot by John), this works. It just means she ends up with a new part.
Moving on...
Molly was aware of everything, when the others in the background weren’t.
She flat out says so in TLD…
Sherlock: Yeah but, to be fair, you work with murder victims. They tend to be quite young. Molly: Not funny. Sherlock: Little bit funny. Molly: If you keep taking what you’re taking at the rate you’re taking it, you’ve got weeks. Sherlock: Exactly, weeks. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Molly: For Christ’s sake, Sherlock, it’s not a game! Sherlock: I’m worried about you, Molly. You seem very stressed. Molly: I’m stressed; you’re dying. Sherlock: Yeah, well, I’m ahead, then. Stress can ruin every day of your life. Dying can only ruin one. John: So this is real? You’ve really lost it. You’re actually out of control. Sherlock: When have I ever been that? John: Since the day I met you. Sherlock: Oh, clever boy. I’ve missed you fumbling ’round the place. John: I thought this was some kind of … Sherlock: What? John: … trick. Sherlock: ’Course it’s not a trick. It’s a plan. (True, but not quite the one Sherlock implies.)

One of the first things that bugged me about the flashbacks in TFP. As a child, Eurus Holmes has brown eyes, except when she is lighting the match. If it’s Molly, it makes more sense than just John’s imagining it all, without a basis. True, Eurus dyes her hair, and could be wearing contacts to make her eyes blue in TFP, but oh wait…She took the brown contacts out during TLD, so it’s not that.
And, Eurus says she wasn’t going to kill her, but look at the way it happens…
Eurus: This is an experiment.  There will be rigour.  Sherlock, pick up the gun. It’s your turn next.
Rewind briefly, to Sherlock pointing out to Molly in TLD that she works with murder victims. So, it’s that kind of rigour/rigor mortis.
Then, despite what Eurus said about the whole series of events in TFP, Molly says differently…
Sherlock: Molly, this is for a case. It’s … it’s a sort of experiment. Molly: I’m not an experiment, Sherlock.
Fast forward…
Eurus: Saved her? From what? Oh, do be sensible. There were no explosives in her little house. Why would I be so clumsy? You didn’t win. You lost.
So, is it a game or not? I would say no, but it is playing.
I theorized in this piece yesterday, that women of ‘eligible age’ became all one person in S4, because of someone trying to reason out of Sherlock and John being a couple. At least, until the woman in question either fulfills her role in the scenario (then suddenly vanishes) or the mirror of one of the men, does. It never happens to Mrs. Hudson, because she is a mother-figure, and she has her own role to play.
It always puzzled me that a character meant to only be in one episode, made it through all four seasons. Yes, Molly is likeable. But, what appeared to happen to her in TFP, was awful. If it’s not really Molly though, then it’s understandable why at the end of TFP, she is happy as a clam in the montage. Mary is gone, and the ill-fated phone call never actually happened.
Molly or Moriarty...
The Adventures of Shirley Holmes (1997-2000)--the series follows the life of Shirley Holmes, the great-grandniece of Sherlock Holmes who, with the help of ex-gang member Bo Sawchuk, tackles a variety of mysteries in and around the fictional Canadian city of Redington. On some occasions, she found herself matching wits with nemesis Molly Hardy (whose name is a word play on Sherlock Holmes' archenemy Professor Moriarty).

A nod to Rathbone, and possibly The Woman in Green.
