Winter x Y/N short story
As promised... Here it is.
Spoilers for SeasonTale!
Happy birthday my boy! (Dec 5th) I'm so proud to be your creator!
TW: Kidnapping, choking, threats, minor gore
I should probably stare this is Fanon.
Once again, images are used for visual purposes only and I do not claim them.
(I know I said I wouldn't use them again... but they do help a lot, and I'm looking into the whole AI art thing right now, please don't send asks about it.)
Here ya go, ya simps!
~o0o~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"They won't find us here!"
You were thrown through a portal, and your face landed in a pile of snow. You tumbled like a snowball until you just stopped. The cold wind nipped at your wounds, but you couldn't complain or cry.
They would kill you if you did.
Your kidnappers tumbled through the portal after you. Some of them started to shiver as the storm greeted them with open arms. They anxiously glanced around as the portal closed behind him.
The cliffs beside you were evident, and the wind echoed across their caverns. Snow and ice covered everything you could see. The horizon was hidden by the fog, and the only thing you could see were the mass peaks stretching toward the stars. The darkest one was mostly hidden by the overhead clouds.
Or was it even a rock?
"Let's go!" You didn't have time to react as a hand gripped tightly around your neck, dragging you through the snow. The grip dug into your veins and made you cough. Snow got under your clothes, freezing your bare skin as you inhaled the foul stench of your predator.
"Stop coughing if you know what's good for you!" He roared, choking you harder.
The others didn't seem to care about what he was doing to you. They trudged in the snow, grumbling as they made their way to a cave.
A large shadow passed over you. You couldn't help but look up in curiosity. It was too fast to be a cloud.
"Hey! Look at me when I'm talking to you!" He hissed, barring his teeth. "I don't want to have to kill you before I sell you for a hefty price!"
"I'm telling you guys, they aren't gonna sell!" Another one of the kidnappers snapped. "They don't have the right hair that boss likes!"
"Relax, they can be a trade in," the other shrugged. "Their organs are all the same."
You couldn't feel your cheeks or your toes at this point. If you knew you would end up in some faraway land that would freeze your fingers off, you would have packed better. But no one prepares for these things to happen.
Being tossed against the rock, one of the kidnappers pulled out a knife and put it to your throat. "Now, hold still, or this is going to be more painful for the both of us-"
As your breath got hitched in your throat and your heart stopped beating, a bright light flashed before your eyes. Heat lapped at your legs, and your kidnapper in front of you disintegrated into ash.
The other two kidnappers snapped their heads in the direction the blast came from, gripping their knives as fear drenched their faces. They murmured under their breaths various curses as they faced the attacker.
His large hand was extended, guiding the gaster blaster to aim at the other kidnappers. He was tall... really tall for his species. His face was decorated in snowflakes, and he wore deep navy clothing with big boots and a furry top. A large snowflake banner hung from his waist.
Behind him was a large gaster dragon. Its bones curled around his head and his wings covered everything else. He snorted a ball of smoke, sharing the same fury that flared in the skeleton's blue eye.
"You're gonna pay for that, popsicle!" One of the kidnappers shouted, lunging for him.
The tall skeleton slid to the side. The kidnapper's eyes widened in shock as a wall of bones appeared in front of him. To accompany it, the skeleton pulled out a large hammer.
WHAM! The hammer collided with the kidnapper's back, sending him flying into the wall of bones, cracking his skull. The snow claimed his life and blood.
The remaining kidnapper backed up, his hands shaking. "I-I can e-explain-"
"Leave," the skeleton's voice boomed, shaking the ice around him. It was deep, soothing, yet rattled anyone's insides when it was used as a threat.
The kidnapper didn't waste any time. Opening a portal to who knows where, he jumped through, abandoning you and his dead comrades.
The skeleton turned his gaze towards you, his eyes still blazing with fury. He walked towards you slowly, his dragon following him.
You backed up against the rock you initially were thrown against. One thing was for sure, you felt your heart racing wildly. Blood trickled down your face as you whimpered in fear; you thought you were next.
But nothing happened.
No bones, no blasts, not even the hammer was swung your way.
The skeleton bent down in front of you. His eyes stopped blazing simultaneously as the storm calmed down. No weapon was in sight, and his gaze was full of worry. He gently brushed the hair out of your face to examine the wound that bled. "Are you alright?" He asked quietly. Although his voice was still deep, it was smoother, softer... It sounded like he cared.
You tried to explain to him that you weren't, that your head hurt, and you didn't know where you were because you were kidnapped. However, the cold made you shake uncontrollably; the pain and the cold kept you from speaking clear sentences. You only got a few words out, but it was enough to get the point across.
The next thing you knew was that you were in his arms. His hands dug under the snow and lifted you up, holding you close. "Don't be afraid... I'm going to help you, dear one."
He didn't say much after that, but his actions spoke louder than his words. He whistled toward the dragon and hoisted you on top of it. Sitting behind you, his hand traveled across your waist to hold you tight while his other hand grabbed the leash. The snow didn't feel so cold when he was behind you. It wasn't freezing when the dragon took off and flew above the clouds,
Although your vision started to blur, you finally could see beyond the initial fog. Below the cliffs was a small village, covered in straw and warm garments as the monsters and humans alike traveled around the streets. In the distance, you could see four other environments. One was filled with cherry blossoms and green trees, and flowers were everywhere around that village. The second area, the furthest away from view, was bright and sandy by a beachside, and the ocean extended for miles. That village welcomed the sun, and many were playing sports on the shore. The third area, to the right, was colorful and smelled like pumpkin spice. The leaves were red, orange, and yellow as the leaves fell to the ground. You quickly realized that each section was the different seasons... in harmony with one another.
Tumblr media
"Hang in there," you heard the skeleton's voice above you as he also glanced at the captivating landscape.
The warmth of his body shut your eyes slowly as the beat of the dragon's wings calmed you. You drifted off to sleep, knowing he wasn't going to hurt you. You were safe.
* * *
"You're awake, good."
Your eyes flutter open. You try to move, but you find it difficult with the various blankets wrapped around your body. Part of your head is wrapped tightly with soft bandages.
The skeleton who had saved you earlier was sitting on a chair facing you. Behind him was a fire. To your left was a gate that led to a large training ground, and on your right was a gate to outside, and stairs to the upper levels of wherever you were. You guessed you were in a fortress of some sort, though it seemed to be very festive with the lights decorated all around it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The couch you laid on was comfortable, and you stopped moving as you slowly sunk into it, despite your back aching.
"I'm... Winter, by the way." The skeleton interrupted your observations. He scratched his bony neck and looked at the ground nervously. "You are in SeasonTale, me and my brother's realm. I'm not supposed to let anyone in or out of here... but I think I can make an expection."
You thank the skeleton, though your voice is barely a whisper. You also whisper your name to him before complimenting the place.
"Thanks, I like it too. This was Season's and Solstice's palace. Now, me and my comrades take care of it."
As you asked who his comrades were, another skeleton walked into the room from the kitchen. He had three bowls of homemade ramen in his hands. "How are they doing?" The skeleton dressed in green with a pink corset asked. He had flowers printed all over his face, and his smile was sweet. He glanced toward you. "Oh! You're awake, thank goodness!"
You accepted the ramen he gave to you. Despite you not liking particular foods, the ramen was delicious, and you couldn't stop yourself from devouring it.
"Thank you, Spring," Winter nodded his head as he ate the ramen himself.
"I'll leave you two be," Spring smiled sweetly. "Don't worry, I'll make sure Summer and Autumn don't disturb you either."
"I thought they were visiting their kingdoms today," Winter commented.
"They are, but they should be back soon," he took a step forward to the cold skeleton and whispered. "Dang," he glanced your way. "You lucked out, can we keep them?"
Before Winter could reply, Spring pat him on the back and spun around. He headed back into the kitchen, murmuring something to himself that you didn't catch.
As you ate the last of the ramen, you noticed that the skeleton constantly stared at you. He barely looked away as he set his own bowl of food aside. Whenever you looked back at him, he would continue to stare before he looked away, a small blush covering his face.
Winter got up and removed the outer layer of his clothing, leaving only a navy shirt upon his shoulders. He walked toward the coat rack and hung his coat before stirring the coals in the fire. He sat back down in the chair and continued to stare at you.
When you asked him why he was staring, the blush on his face increased. "Oh, uhm, just making sure the bandage is on correctly. It seems lopsided," he glanced at the ground and smirked to himself. "It's... difficult not to stare at such a pretty face."
The blood in your veins rushed to your face. Was he being serious? You were just told that you wouldn't be sold because you weren't pretty, yet Winter said otherwise. Could it be different monsters have different tastes in humans?
No, you shook your head. There's no way that was his intention, right? It was probably just a compliment. You thanked him as you hide your face under one of the blankets.
A low chuckle escaped Winter's throat. "That's cute," he commented, fidgeting with his hands. "There's no need to hide, though. You're safe here."
You didn't know how to explain the reason why you were covering your face.
"Was the food good? I hope it was enough," Winter scratched his head again. "We can always make more if you're hungry."
You set the blanket down, insisting that the food was delicious, and you were full.
"Good," he cracked a smile, which you guessed was rare for him. "Make yourself at home, as you are welcomed here."
You sat up to face him. You appreciated his kindness and hospitality and couldn't stop your heart from jumping whenever he spoke to you. He was sweet, despite is cold, aloof appearance. Behind those stoic eyes was a man who wanted to care. Behind those bones was a gentle soul, making sure nothing would happen to you. You would love to stay in the palace.
But... your friends and family are worried that you're gone. You couldn't just leave them wondering what happened to you. Some of them wouldn't rest until they found you. Alas, you realized you might be putting Winter and his comrades in danger if you stayed.
Not that your friends could beat the skeletons in a fight... but some of their connections might be able to.
You explain with a heavy heart why you can't stay. After your kidnapping, your family must be worried sick and you elaborated on why you needed to see them again.
Winter nodded slowly. "I understand. I would be worried too. Don't worry, I'll make sure you get home safely."
The rest of the day was figuring out what AU to send you back to. Spring kept both of you fed and helped with your bandages. Winter focused on overlooking various AUs, asking you if it looked familiar through the portal.
During this time, you were able to meet Winter's other comrades. Autumn, a short, angry gremlin barely greeted you. He was dressed in red and often had a sour look on his face. However, when you responded to his insult with an insult, he smirked at you and nodded his head. "This kid... I like them," he chuckled to himself.
Before you could comment that you were not a kid, you met Winter's brother. Though, you wouldn't be able to tell they were brothers at first glance. This cocky skeleton had yellow suns and stars printed across his face and wore a long yellow jacket that exposed his ribs. He looked like a highlighter. He wore a fancy crown and a wide smirk on his face at all times. After noticing his body language and mannerisms, you could tell Winter and Summer were related.
"Do we have to send the darling back?" Summer cooed, frowning. "They're so pretty, I'd like to keep them~"
Winter snapped his head toward his brother. "Keep your eyes off them, brother. They are not yours."
Summer's eyes widened at Winter's booming voice, before he glanced at you and back at Winter. He smirked wildly. "Ooh, I see what's going on~" He shoved Winter's shoulder. "Popsicle has a crush~"
Winter narrowed his eyes. "Summer-"
"It's obvious," Autumn commented, opening another portal to a random AU for you to check. "Look at his eyes and face!"
"My eyes are snowflakes, thank you."
You shook your head as you came back into the room. Surely the next AU would be your home.... right?
Or was there too many of them?
"Spring, help me out," Winter begged.
Spring shrugged, slurping a noodle. "I have to agree with Summer, Winter. You wouldn't have let anyone else stay here...."
Your face turned red. Did the handsome blue skeleton really like you? Or were his comrades just teasing him? You were too flustered to ask, though you weren't sure if you really wanted to know.
Summer spun around in a showmanship way. "Whatever you say, big guy, I'm heading to bed."
Before Winter could comment back, Autumn trudged after him, glaring playfully at you.
Spring opened another portal as he whispered something into Winter's ears before taking off. He glided down the stairs majestically, bowing and smiling at you before he disappeared.
You looked through the portal Spring made and recognized your home. Your heart sank as you murmured this was the one.
Winter's shoulders droop. "Very well, you may go whenever you're ready," he sighed, his snowflake eyes rotating. He glanced away.
You ask him what's wrong, not wanting to leave on the wrong foot.
His mouth flattened before he took a step closer to you, resting a hand on your shoulder as the other cupped your cheek. "When... When can I see you again?"
You stuttered over your words as he pulled you into a tight hug. His large arms covered most of your body, and you were buried in his clothes. His head rested on top of yours. He was so warm... and comfy. You felt his soul thumping against your face.
"Thank you... for gracing me with your presence..." He gently said, letting you go. "I wish you the best endeavor wherever you go... You always have a friend here in SeasonTale."
Everything in you wanted to squeal in delight. You wanted to hug him again, you wanted to stay... but the winds of your home were calling you. You heart throbbed and ached at the thought of leaving the person who saved your life. How would you contact him? Would you ever see him again? You couldn't find the words as tears trailed down, your eyes.
Winter smiled softly as the portal surrounded you, transporting you back to your homeland. You remember Spring telling you that Winter never cracked a smile, that nothing really made him happy enough to do so. However, there he was, smiling at you as he raised his hand to say goodbye. The last thing you heard was his sweet, soothing voice.
"Be safe, little snowflake."

-full name: Mu Maple Miracle (name's pretty much never used)
-8 years old
-birthday: 12/12 (2016 baby)
-she/her
-dark xunshine shipkid/ dark cream shipkid (so Cross and Shattered Dream as biological parents)
-currently staying with Fancy, Toddh and Nip.
-the bit of the curse she inherited from Shattered prevent her from talking. To be more precise (related to my post about "the voice of the soul"), the cursed magic is around her soul (but doesn't touch her soul thankfully) and doesn't let pass any sound. In fact, she can talk but only when her level of magic is low enough.
-is the lil' sister of Mimosa
-only learned of the existence of Mimosa when she was 5 and doesn't remember her parents
-spent her first years under the care of a Swap!Asgore
-now it's Fancy (and Nip, and Toddh) who take care of her half of the time and the rest of the time she lives with Mimosa and his adoptive family
-has a notebook with lil' drawings in it and communicates with it
-for exemple, if she wants to say "hello" she'll show the picture of a sun
-she's slowly starting to read and have troubles writing
-is baby
-has one tentacle she wear like a scarf most of the time
-there's an opening at the back of her shirt for her tentacle
-her bag acts like an inventory so huge notebook has no problem to fit in there
-her name is written on the lil' star (that's how the swap! Asgore knew her name)
-is sneaky
-towards magic: she has full control on her tentacle, can do tiny bones but need focusing, can do a bit of blue magic but it's hard, don't even talk about gaster blaster. She's still a baby and will learn all that later.
-likes eating Fancy's cakes
-doesn't like to go to sleep early
-doesn't consider Fancy as a parent (friend-sibling or something like that) and doesn't always listen to him
-learned quickly to let Fancy's alone when he has a nightmare
-doesn't mind being pick up but will squirm if it's too long
-fast learner for a lot of things but not for magic
-when she's really happy, she tramples the ground with her feet to make noise
-likes to pick up flowers to put on her tentacle when she's bored
-likes to be warm, being under a blanket is the best
-her kinda-bunny hat was a gift from Nip for her 6th'
I will probably add other stuff later
When she was still 5, 6 and 7 ↓↓↓

Underfell Gaster blaster AU
Here’s a fic for my “Gaster Blastober” thing I’m doing again this year. I decided to do a fic in an Underfell variation of the Gaster Blaster AU. Which is fun, since both are kinda vague and have no real set rules as to how they are, so I got to make up how I wanted it to be. Anyway, there is some violence in this, but I’d rate it at teen. AO3
Sans never before wished he had a tongue. That weird fleshy object always seemed disgusting and a pain to deal with. Where did it fit in a mouth amid sharp teeth without getting bitten? With fangs like his, if he bit his tongue (that is if he had one) it would definitely be a painful experience. But, at that moment, as the wounds on his transformed body ached, he longed for some way to relieve the pain. He had seen other monsters lick their wounds before, and it seemed like such a comforting act.
All he had was his fang-filled jaws, which would only scratch and irritate the damaged areas. Well, he should be grateful. Had Boss not insisted that they do their rounds in their full blaster form he would be dust for sure. While still physically weaker than his brother in this form, as a blaster beast Sans had far more defense and HP than he normally had. Thanks to daily blaster scouting and training in dodging, this runt lived another day.
Still, as nice as it is to survive, the cracked and chipped bones were definitely something he could do without. Part of him wanted to retreat to the door in the woods. The lady there was good at healing, and few know that or even went there. Not even Papyrus knows about her, and Sans promised not to tell. She took a liking to Sans, for some reason he couldn’t explain. She liked his jokes at least, or she was that starved for the company that she tolerated him returning daily. Even in this large, lumbering form, when she couldn’t understand his jokes, she just opens the doors and walks out to sit with him and knit. He would like that right now, resting with her healing him and just being near; but, he knew Boss wanted Sans to wait here, to meet up once it was all clear.
The older blaster didn’t like that his younger brother ran off to scout their turf for any more of those punks from Waterfall. Sans had no warning for that surprise attack, and they were ready to fight him in this form. What they weren’t prepared for was Papyrus being close enough to provide back up. Knowing that Sans hated that Papyrus was alone when there could be more monsters ready to fight a blaster. Unfortunately, there was no stopping Boss, once he had an idea in his head he ran with it until he succeeded or failed in a way that made him feel he succeeded. In a world like this, that kind of productiveness was rewarded more than Sans laziness. So, he had long since passed pack leadership over to his bro. That did come with some interesting changes in Papyrus.
The younger skeleton now liked being called “Boss” when they were working or in public, no matter the form. Papyrus had also gotten nippy and rough in behavior, but nothing harmful. Sans wasn’t sure, but he wondered if it was his brother’s way of encouraging Sans to be more aggressive as well. Unfortunately for Boss, Sans was too lazy for that and would tuck tail, whine, and surrender. Not that Sans never “fought” back with his bro. He just preferred teasing Boss and testing his patience until Sans got that deserved nip on the nose or more. While it seemed worse to a watcher, no harm was ever done to either, and it was more bonding that not. Ultimately, the two were brothers, they had each other’s back… No matter the teasing or bullying they kept each other and their territory safe.
The sound of crunching snow alerted Sans to the return of his brother. His brother sniffed Sans over and growled softly. The older brother knew the growl wasn’t meant for him as Papyrus anger was still directed towards the jerks who thought they could invade their land and attack Sans. The younger blaster threw his head back and let out a roar that caused Sans to flinch. Papyrus stomped around angrily, blowing off steam in the process. Shifting his head slightly, Sans watched his brother with mild amusement.
<what now, boss?> Sans asked his brother once he finally settled down.
Papyrus looked at Sans for a moment then huffed while raising his head to full height in pride. <I SHALL TAKE THIS UP WITH UNDYNE. SHE AND I HAVE AND A LONG UNDERSTANDING ALLIANCE. I HIGHLY DOUBT SHE WOULD HAVE ISSUED THIS ATTACK>
It took an effort to shift his paws back under himself, but Sans slowly stood, snow falling from his aching bones from where he had pressed wounds against the cold for pain relief. They hurt, but he felt he could travel with no trouble. Even though he had not been sleeping just now, it still helped his magic to start to heal as he rested. <yeah, ok, makes sense, boss. besides, undyne’s the type who’d be here and not be just sending underlings. she might be in trouble herself, y’know.>
Turning, Sans started to walk towards the tunnel that lead to Waterfall, but as he started his brother snapped at him. Papyrus left a shallow scratch is previously undamaged snout with a fang. Sans jumped back lowering his tail while growling at Papyrus. <the hell was that for, boss?!>
<AND JUST WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?!> Papyrus growled.
That surprised Sans and he tilted his head, unsure what his brother wanted from him. Didn’t Papyrus just say they were going to meet with Undyne? <uh, to waterfall?>
<ABSOLUTELY NOT! YOU WILL REPORT TO OUR DEN AND REST!> It was a clear order from Papyrus, but Sans glared at his brother.
<and let you wander into possible trap alone?> Sans snorted, annoyed his brother was blocking him.
<ARE YOU DOUBTING ME?!> Papyrus stood taller as he tried to appear threatening. Normally this display of self-confidence would cause Sans to laugh, but right now all Sans felt was worried.
<naw, of course not, bro. i just don’t doubt them either.> Sans huffed.
The younger brother growled deeply, the sound echoing like distant thunder with an underlying rolling hiss. Sans understood there was no arguing past this point. With a sigh, Sans sat and lowered his head to let his brother know he won this fight. His younger brother relaxed while still holding a strong stance. <GO HOME, SANS, REST. I WILL NOT BE LONG.>
Sans watched as Papyrus trotted off towards Waterfall as he slowly stood and started in the direction of Snowdin. But… had Papyrus knowns his elder brother well enough. He would have known Sans was not going to let Papyrus wander off into enemy territory like that. Just because his brother won the growling match, that didn’t mean he really won at all. Sans didn’t risk his life every day raising his younger brother just to have him killed by some punks who found out ways to fight a full-blown blaster beast. Keeping a safe distance, Sans trailed his brother, keeping an eye on him as they made their way to Waterfall. It wasn’t easy, as blasters had such strong senses, and Undyne’s house was a fair distance into Waterfall. But this wasn’t the first time Sans had followed his brother without Papyrus knowing.
There was plenty of long grass, deep water, and rock formations to hid behind, making it easy for Sans to remain hidden from his brother. Papyrus, though, was marching along, with no fear. Luckily for him, so far, none who saw him dared to approach. They had seen the Snowdin guard enough to know he was friends or allies with Undyne and understood it was in their best interest to leave him alone.
Sans always liked this place. Had it not been so populated, he would have stayed here with Papyrus instead of venturing into Snowdin. As two small pups, trying to survive without adult protection, it was far too dangerous with all the monsters living here. Unlike Waterfall, Snowdin had fewer monsters, and the ones that did live there formed a bond with their neighbors instead of small gangs. The cold and snowstorms could be just as deadly as a powerful monster, if not more so. When the world around you seems to be plotting your demise, waging war with everyone around you who could be a useful resource later is generally unwise. This made Snowdin a powerful unit of monsters who knew and understood how to work with each other far better than any other community in the Underground.
Still, it is easy to marvel at the beauty of Waterfall. In the darkness, the glowing echo flowers and mushrooms were wonderful to admire. More than them, though, the ceiling above looked like what he heard the night sky of the surface looked like. Millions of tiny dots above his head, shining in a gorgeous display that he could sit and look at for hours.
Unlike usual, it wasn’t difficult to overcome his desire to just sit and stare at those mock stars. He was here for a reason that was far more important to him. Keeping a socket on his brother, he continued to trail him to the house in question. The red hair of the monster out front gave away that she was the predatory, fish monster they were looking for. Sans glanced around, and sniffed the air, he didn’t see any threats around. Perhaps he was worried for nothing and should slink back home before Papyrus noticed.
“Papyrus? What are you doing here?” The gruff voice of Undyne asked his brother who started to shift down to a partial blaster form so he could speak to her. Something still nagged at Sans that he should keep an eye on them. With a sigh, he gave in to his instincts and remained hidden nearby, watching.
Hearing a noise, Sans turned his skull to see a shadowy figure of a monster lurking not that far from him. The cat monster hadn’t noticed Sans, his focus solely on Papyrus and Undyne. Sans could feel the ill intent radiating off of him. A yell from somewhere else signaled an attack, and before Undyne or Papyrus could react magic was flying at them. Luckily, both were skilled enough to block and avoid most of the magical bullets flying at them. As monsters ran out of hiding at them, Sans decided to even the odds a little. The cat monster was about to spring into action when Sans struck them with a well-placed slash of his claws. He could see the shocked and pained look of the feline. The cat monster took a turn and attacked him, but Sans dodged his magical attacks with a wince as the previously gained wounds ached from the use of his bones and joints. Annoyed, Sans sought to end this as soon as possible. He finished off the cat monster was just an easy pounce.
Dusting other monsters never sat well with Sans, but he did what needed to be done, for his survival and the survival of Papyrus. Looking back at his brother, he could see Undyne and Papyrus were holding their own fairly well, but they were still outnumbered. They would surely win, but it could go faster if they didn’t have so many to fight. He lowered his head and opened his jaws, feeling magic gathered then burst forth in a beam. His attack struck three monsters who were standing next to each other, and with their high LOVE, they were nothing but dust by the time the light of his attack died down.
His location known, Sans leaped from his hiding spot and struck at a monster with his claws. They stumbled back, clutching the wound, the pain from KR causing them then drop to their knees and scream. A yell from behind Sans caught his attention and he saw two monsters charging at him. Swinging his tail, he sent them flying off to who knows where. What mattered was they weren’t attacking his brother anymore.
“SANS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! I TOLD YOU TO REST!” Papyrus yelled and to that Sans whined an apology. “IF YOU WERE REALLY SORRY YOU WOULDN’T BE HERE!”
Well, his brother had a point.
“Sans, stand down, we got it from here!” Undyne yelled, looking just as annoyed as Papyrus to see his help. This caused the attacking gang remaining to reconsider their options. After all, the one who just dusted three monsters in one attack was being told to stop helping. Good thing too. Papyrus and Undyne could both easily dust the rest of them without breaking a sweat. And as spears and bones rained down on them, those that weren’t dusted ran like the cowards they were.
Once they were alone, Papyrus turned to Sans and put his hands on his hips “SANS, YOU WERE GIVEN AN ORDER TO STAY HOME, WHY ARE YOU HERE?”
“Hey, normally I’m all for yelling at your brother, but look, he’s and not being lazy when he even had a good reason to sit around. And he did great, DID YOU SEE HOW FAR HE SENT THOSE TWO FLYING?! I bet they’re in Hotland!” Undyne smiled big, showing off her teeth as she spoke. She walked closer and reached up, patting Sans on the nose, letting him know she approved of this. “But, if you are ever so careless with your life again, I will dust you myself, got it?”
Sans blinked at her change of tone and nodded. He then waited patiently for his brother and Undyne to discuss what they were going to do about these attacks. Strengthening the patrols of the Royal Guards was the solution that they came to, which Sans worried would possibly lead to more trouble down the line. But, hey, what did he know, he was just a sentry.
Side by side, the two blasters made their way back to Snowdin. The younger fussing over Sans the entire way. <WHAT IF YOU GOT HURT MORE?> <YOU DID WELL IN THE FIGHT BUT YOU COULD HAVE JUST KEPT A SOCKET ON SNOWDIN!> <WHAT IF THEY SPOTTED YOU FIRST?> All it really boiled down to was that Papyrus had been worried about his older brother, and Sans was touched by this.
Once back home, they shifted back down into their skeleton forms. Papyrus ordered Sans to take a nap on the sofa after shoving a plate of spaghetti in the older skeleton’s face. The “food” was barely edible, but Sans managed to keep it down before curling up on the sofa. His body was still sore and tired from all that happened, but knowing his brother and their territory was still safe, Sans was able to drift to sleep.

Okay but like, what do you think it would be like to have a gaster blaster as a pet?
Gaster Blasters are an odd mix of a cat and a dog.
They’ll follow you around, sure. Play catch. Sit (well maybe not that one). They are also pretty obedient in combat when trained correctly.
Thing is though, they are little brats too.
Did you leave a glass of water on the counter? Oops, its on the floor now. Are you trying to get dressed? Ow, don’t nip at my leg!
They carry a level of sentience that animals don’t and are very mischievous, doing little things intentionally to get on your nerves. Why is the toilet paper shredded? Who knocked over the trash can? Why is there laundry all over the floor?
Don’t worry though, they’re there when it counts. Cuddling is hard (literally), but they will nuzzle you and attempt to cheer you up when you’re sad. Also, if they’re feeling lonely, they’ll pop out of the void to say hello to you. This could be bad if you’re in a business meeting, but in general, they aren’t too clingy. Just make sure to give them a good washing when they need it and some warm blankets. They’ll love you forever.

Forget Me Not
Papyrus reconnects with a distant memory to find out if the great Papyrus is really so great...before it’s too late.
I wrote this with @crisiskode in mind because he is such an amazing person and I hope that as time goes on he can truly realize how much he means to me and so many others. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to me,
And for everyone else reading, I hope this reminds you to dig deep and find your worth every day, no matter how daunting that may seem at times.
Was he...dreaming?
Last he remembered, Papyrus had been standing in a torrent of snow, confronting the human who’d committed quite a few dastardly deeds in the underground. Not even confronting, really, in spite of all that. He was forgiving them. A simple matter of reverse psychology, was it not? Provide the reaction opposite of what’s usually expected, and you’ll receive the same result. He whole-heartedly believed it. Believed in them. Even as the world spun, sinking to the ground as everything went dark, succumbing to immense pressure...cracking...shattering…
“Sans…?”
His body felt oddly light; in fact, he couldn’t feel much at all. He was fully in control of his actions and aware of his surroundings, yet what stretched out before him was unlike any previous figments of his imagination. It seemed as though the aforementioned light and darkness had split into two distinct paths; the first glistening bright like sunlight reflecting on snow, the other ebbing with impossible, muted colors and the same aura he’d felt right before--
This wasn’t a dream, was it?
Papyrus sank to his knees. “T-the human...would they have...e-even after I put my faith in them...? This can’t happen...w-who will take care of Sans? Who will make him pick up his sock, a-and feed him a healthy, balanced diet of spaghetti...who will read bedtime stories with him…”
Tears blurred his vision as the darkness began to encroach upon him in suffocating waves, whispers of ovations of self-destructive thoughts buzzing louder and louder in every direction. “ S-So then...this is it? Heh...good riddance, honestly. They’ll be...better off without me. Who am I kidding, Sans will thrive not having to live in my shadow...this will be the best thing to happen to the entire underground…”
A sensation like lava melting torturously slow crept along his body, eyes blacking out entirely, static crackling in his vision. “Forget...that I ever existed…”
The shadows began to shape and shift, as though eager to swallow him up, only to begin taking shape in a vaguely familiar form. “Attempting to erase your shortcomings from the universe, eh?” A wispy voice chuckled softly as its owner materialized before Papyrus. “Like father...like son.”
A pause. “W-who are you...?”
Gaster regarded the young skeleton with a sad smile. Look at how much he’d grown...he reached out and gingerly linked their digits together, peering at him through the perfectly matching holes in their hands. “I’ve missed you, so much…”
A goofy, lopsided grin...a long trench coat that may have been all the stars he’d ever dreamed of seeing strung together...Papyrus regarded him like a distant de ja vu that faded quickly as it came. “I...don’t understand…”
Of course he wouldn’t. Glimmering pupils of otherwise empty eyes averted themselves in thought. If they stayed here together, he wouldn’t be alone anymore...after all, they were so much alike...too much alike. No. That wouldn’t be right. His right pupil flickered purple, magic trickling along Papyrus’ body. “You may not know me, but I know too much about you…” he said as the corruption faded from Papyrus, “to allow you to travel the same path I did.” Before the other could protest, he grasped his hand once more.
Nipping cold, playful snowflakes tickled Papyrus’ face as children laughed and scurried about. “W-we’re back in Snowdin Town?”
Gaster nodded shortly. “In a manner of speaking. I have taken you back in time so that you may observe and draw your own conclusions, hopefully based on logic rather than emotion.”
The same expression of a lost puppy seemed permanently glued to the younger skeleton’s features now, but he obeyed and fell quiet, listening to the idle chatter of some passerby.
“Did ya hear about those wacky skeletons that barged into town? Er, was it last week, last month? Time seems to fly by with some new shenanigan every day, eh?” said an elderly bunny to a youth.
“I know, right! Everything used to be so boring and dull. And like, that one big guy is such a cutie!” replied the youngster, a sparkle in her eyes.
Big guy? Obviously it was Sans; he always did have a way of attracting--
“Er, heightwise or widthwise big guy?”
“Heightwise, of course!”
Papyrus gasped, clasping his hands over his mouth. “R-really? Me...cute? I don’t think I’ve ever been called that before…”
Gaster chuckled, nodding shortly and guiding him along once more, this time with less resistance. They wandered undetected through gushing waterfalls and sweltering canyons bursting with lava, and sure enough there was no shortage of hubbub regarding the mysterious skeleton brothers. Of course, not every bit of it was positive…
“That Sans sleeps at his post too often, I mean seriously! You walk by and he’s just snoozing away! What’s with that?” grouched a sea urchin. “The Papyrus lad, though, I hear he’s always out and at it, working to serve our King! We need more young people who appreciate the value of hard work!”
“Hm, how interesting. And here you thought your effort wasn’t noticed at all...Papyrus?” Upon the awkward silence that ensued, Gaster turned to Papyrus, who was clenching his fists as his eyes watered.
“That’s not true...of course I would nag him time and time again, but I know he was always pulling his weight and then some...he has sentry stations in all the districts, of course he’d be tired! I...I just...thought he could do better, still…” Tears fell down his face, and he buried his head in his hands. “I’m sure without me around, he’ll do much better...he won’t have so much pressure on him and he can truly shine...and be who he wants to be…”
A breathy sigh escaped Gaster’s mouth. “Come. I’ve one more thing to show you.”
The scene shifted around them, changing from peaceful surroundings to screaming and shouting figures charging about with spears and torches and magic flying in all directions. Dust surrounded by armor littered the ground; a Royal Guard sat crying, clutching one of the metal hunks as a monster charged at him, raising their spear and…
“U-Undyne? But that’s...is this..the Royal Guard? T-they’re all...what’s going on?!” Papyrus trembled, feeling sick to his core.
“Heh...good. That’s the last of them here.” Undyne yanked her spear out of the now lifeless armor. She closed her eyes, a pained grimace overtaking her features as she fell to one knee. “Papyrus...I’m sorry. I know this is not what you would have wanted...but no one is safe anymore. We cannot trust them any longer…” Her fists balled, and she turned to the mass of troops assembled before her. “Because if HIS death will not be avenged by the Queen...if SHE passes off even a single homicide as a reason to show more LOVE…” She punched the air, her wild crimson hair blowing fiercely in the wind. “THEN LET US TAKE ALL OF OUR L.O.V.E TO HER AND END THIS! ONCE AND FOR ALL! FOR PAPYRUS!”
“FOR PAPYRUS!!” A defeaning roar rose from the crowd. As they charged after their leader, Papyrus fell to his knees. “P-please...tell me this is just a bad dream…”
Wordlessly, they drifted through time and space once more until they reached the door to the ruins.
Sans stood there, staring back as though he were looking straight through Papyrus’ soul. He addressed the army behind them, “Stay back. She’s mine.”
Papyrus shouted at him to stop, but he summoned one, two, three Gaster Blasters and destroyed the door in a flurry of light. “Heh. So it was you all this time.” His left eye turned blue. “Good to know you make bad jokes about everything. Including people’s lives.”
Toriel stood facing away from him, her posture calm and dignified as ever, hands clasped in front of her. But her voice sounded broken. “What you have done...is inexcuseable. I only wanted for human and monster kind to be united again. Violence only creates more violence…”
“You were a COWARD and ran away from everything! You sold out EVERYONE the moment you said that we should just...move on and forgive and forget!” Sans shook, his bones rattling. “Being a pacifist will only get you and people you love KILLED! But you never cared about that, did you? All that mattered was preserving the memory of some kid who cost you EVERYTHING. You know what it’s like to lose a child...yet you don’t even CARE if it’s someone’s brother? Well it’s the same thing to me!”
Papyrus began to cry again, racking sobs shaking his body. “S-sans...I’m so sorry…”
Toriel turned on him, tears and rage in her own eyes. “Everything I have done was an attempt to save EVERYONE! YOU ALL were cowards! You killed innocent people for petty revenge! And you...where were you all this time as the human you hate so much roamed free? You were too weak to do anything about it, and now you take out your pain and humiliation on those who have only ever wanted to protect you! You’re just like...no, you’re WORSE than ASGORE!”
“SHUT UP!” A circle of Gaster Blasters surrounded him. He threw his hand out. Papyrus ran to him.
“S-Sans, please don’t do this! This isn’t you! Don’t let me turn you into a murderer!”
But no one could hear him cry. No one could see him as he reached out to hold his brother, his ghostly hand passing right through him. Toriel stood proud, not even flinching as the attack raced right at her…
“STOP!!”
They were at the crossroads of light and darkness once more.
Papyrus sat crumpled over, sobbing like a small child. “W-why would you show me that…?”
Gaster stared a moment before kneeling next to him. “I think you know the answer. You’ve known all this time, but you keep lying to yourself. Do you really believe, after all of that…” He gently lifted Papyrus’ chin so that he faced him. “...that you are entirely worthless?”
Papyrus grabbed Gaster and hugged him close. “I-I don’t care about that! If I’m important enourgh to start a war, I don’t care about being famous anymore! I just want everyone to be happy!” He sniffled, burying his head against Gaster’s shoulder. “B-but none of that matters now! It’s too late…”
Surprised by the initial contact, Gaster smiled slightly and returned the embrace, enveloping him in his coat of stars. “Given the right circumstances, it is never too late.”
Several reluctant pauses later, Gaster pulled away after giving Papyrus a gentle nudge towards the light.
“W-wha?” He tried to move towards him, but he could not. His body was floating away, while Gaster began to assimilate back into the darkness. “W-wait! What about you? P-please don’t go, I was just starting to remember you!”
A chuckle resonated around them as the stars on his cloak spread out onto the horizon. “If there is one thing to remember about me…” His form disappeared and became one with the darkness that shrank and dimmed as Papyrus grew closer to the light. “...it’s to never be like me.”
Papyrus reached out his hand helplessly. “N-no, it doesn’t have to be like this! Please...G...Ga…”
“Take care of yourself, Papyrus.”
“DAD!!”
Papyrus’ eyes flew open. Light shone through the hole in his outstretched hand. His chest heaved up and down, tears dripping down his face. Downstairs, the sounds of a dog barking and his brother laughing rang out clear as day.
After getting dressed, he quietly descended the staircase and entered the kitchen. Sans looked up, the usual lackadaisical smile on his face. “Mornin, bro. No grand entrance, eh? Didn’t sleep well....?”
Papyrus hugged his brother tightly. “Thank you, Sans...for everything you do. It’s truly an honor to have a brother like you.”
Sans was startled, but hugged Papyrus closer anyway. “Heh. Thanks. Same to you, couldn’t ask for a more amazing bro.”
Papyrus breathed deeply, allowing himself to smile. His hand ventured to the back of his neck; when he brought it back around, his glove had slipped off a bit. He quickly covered the hole that peeked out.
It was just a dream, right?
