A lot of stressful things happened to me this year, but I'm still thankful for the year because I got to meet a whole lot of wonderful people who share the similar brainrots for OCs as me, whether ur a friend, mutual, follower, anon or any other user at all. Idk if you ever had this quesrion but---

The vongola guardians and any additional characters you want : ... How do they grief? After a small thing that happened, like loosing a precious item, then maybe something more upsetting like breaking up after a long time of being with someone up to actually losing a person to death. How do they cope? How do they handle life from then on out?

You dont have to answer but i thought this might be interesting to ponder

I don’t think I’ve ever had this question! It’s a little surprising, because it is such a really interesting, thought-provoking request! Thank you so much for sending it in and I hope I’ve done such an intriguing concept justice in my answers, that everything feels organic to the characters, and most importantly, that you lovelies all enjoy the headcanons 😊 Because this ended up being so long, I do need to make it into separate posts for Tumblr to allow me to post it, so the question will be answered along multiple days. And honestly, since this took me nearly four hours to answer and edit, I kind of like being able to get multiple queued posts for it, sorry!

Tsuna

Tsuna is someone who is actually a little prone to grief. His emotions tend to run deep, he gets attached to things and people pretty easily, and it hits him hard when things end, get lost, or stop being the same. While he knows change can be a positive thing, sees how change has helped his life be better, major changes will affect him emotionally quite badly, especially if that change is one that he did not want.

He’s not always the best at figuring out how to handle his emotions, even the positive ones, and that is something that is even harder for him to do when the emotions become larger and more profound. He struggles to wrap his head around feelings of grief and loss, what to do with those emotions, or how to properly move on from them. He finds it hard to start properly grieving. He doesn’t really know how to. He doesn’t let it be instinctual – he gets caught up in feeling like he should be grieving in this or that way and because of this, he often finds that his grief lasts longer, or that he feels like he’s got over something that made him grieve, only to find himself taking steps backwards and getting caught up in the grief again. He can sometimes take the view that grief is something that has all these properly laid-out steps and actions that you need to progress through to get completely cured of that grief, instead of something that is very personal and individual.

Now, Tsuna is someone who will definitely feel grief over small things. He does place sentimental value on objects. He’s someone who really does treasure things that were given to him by the people in his life. We see this in the charm from Kyoko that Tsuna gets really anxious about misplacing in canon. I think it’s this way for a lot of things – the first real birthday gift that Lambo and I-Pin got him with their allowance money or his favourite hoodie, the one his mother went out of her way to buy, even though it was stupidly expensive, just because he’d mentioned how badly he wanted it. I have always had this headcanon that Tsuna also collects pictures of him and the other Guardians and his other friends through the years and that those mean the world to him. He’ll cherish his first apartment.

When Tsuna loses one of those sentimental objects, he gets really upset about it. He gets anxious, unhappy, and he tends to immediately feel a lot of guilt about it. He defaults to blaming himself for whatever happened to those objects – he didn’t take good enough care of it obviously, it’s his fault for losing it, he really is no good. He takes losing something that was given to him really hard and he’ll drive himself a little crazy looking for it. He feels so bad about losing that thing and he fully expects whoever gave it to him to get really upset at him for misplacing it if he cannot find it. He is just that angry and upset at himself, after all.

An avid gamer, someone who loves reading manga, and someone who really gets into the tv shows he loves, Tsuna forms connections with fictional characters pretty easily. When his favourite characters die, he definitely gets sad and upset about it. He won’t cry about these little moments of grief, but he’ll feel crummy about it for several days. He’ll vent about it to friends and he’ll be upset. He might even stop watching the show or playing the game, feeling that everything’s been ruined about it now that it’s made him feel that emotional reaction.

For small things that make him grieve, like growing out of a favourite piece of clothing, leaving his house for the first time to live on his own or for moving on from his first adult apartment, the moments will be very bittersweet. On one hand, he knows that all life chapters have to end and that there are still many beautiful things to come, but at the same time, he finds himself quite sad. He finds himself remembering every single good moment spent in that thing or that place and he does get glassy eyed. He really relies on his friends and loved ones at these times to keep him positive and excited about the things to come, because without that, he could find himself wallowing in those sad moments instead of embracing the future.

Things that hit harder, that are more serious grief-inducing moments, hit Tsuna hard. To use the example of a break-up, Tsuna is really going to feel miserable. He’s really sad about everything and he definitely does cry about it, when he’s alone or at least thinks he is. He doesn’t want anyone else to catch him crying like a baby because of something like that, but at the same time, he can’t keep himself from needing that cry. Everything just feels bad and hopeless and like it will never be happy again.

A running theme, I think Tsuna’s first instinct, in the face of this kind of grief, is again to blame himself for whatever caused that grief. Even if it logically doesn’t make sense, even if others assure him that it wasn’t his fault, he still blames himself. He feels this distinct amount of guilt and pain about it. He makes himself shoulder all the blame for the situation, convinces himself that all the pain he’s feeling is because he failed in some way. He just wasn’t good enough to stop this from happening. There must have been something he did or something he didn’t do that caused this.

It isn’t a feeling that will just go away. There isn’t going to be a day when Tsuna just wakes up and has an epiphany that, no, this wasn’t my fault. I did everything I could. This person leaving me was on them and not on me. That’s not something that will happen to him. That grief will always be there in his brain, and he will always blame himself for the situation that caused the grief. It’s just that, with time, Tsuna will be able to push that grief and blame out of focus. He’ll be able to start coping with it, in his own way, and he’ll start being able to tune it out a little. He’ll go back to being able to live his life, though he won’t live it ever quite the same again. His life, his choices, his attitudes on things will change, even if they change by such a small degree that it’s barely noticeable to anyone besides Tsuna and those who know him best. He’ll learn to not think about the grief as much, with it really only popping up every now and then, when he’ll feel those emotions again just as strong as the day it happened. When he does feel those emotions, over and over again, he becomes better at pushing them away though instead of focusing them, with each time that wound is reopened.

Surprise, surprise, but that habit of blaming himself for situations that make him grief is also very much carried over to the large moments of grief. Those around him dying and leaving him behind makes him not only unbearably sad, but those moments fill him with so much anxiety, guilt, and regret that it’s almost unbearable. By the time those moments start happening, Tsuna has already been trained on how to continue on in his duties, despite the overwhelming waves of emotions that are washing over him, and he does his best for those left behind with him. Honestly, if it wasn’t for that act of needing to be there for those others left behind, if it wasn’t for needing to be strong for them, Tsuna would probably crumble a little in the wake of that amount of grief. He kind of does appreciate having them there, appreciate having something to concentrate on besides his grief, at moments. At other times, he feels burdened by them, though he would never admit it out loud, and feels resentful for not being able to have the choice to wall himself off from everyone and just let the grief run its course.

Someone he loves dying…it’s his fault, obviously. It’s because he either wasn’t strong enough to save them or because he exposed them to danger because of the life he was forced into. In the case of the person dying in a way that could not conceivably be his fault, such as dying from old age, it’s still his fault. It’s his fault he hadn’t expressed more how much he loved and cared about them. It’s his fault he didn’t thank them more for all the things they did for him. It’s his fault for not making every single second they were alive count – how many hours did he waste, for example, he would think when Iemitsu died, hating or being resentful towards his father? How long did he hold out on having any kind of relationship with his father? How many years were wasted in bitterness and hurt feelings instead of letting his father connect with him? There’s all these regrets, all these ‘what-ifs’ in the face of grief and they all feel like they’re about to drown Tsuna in their heaviness.

Much like with the smaller grieving, it’s not so much that Tsuna will come to grips with these thoughts. It’s not that he’ll forgive himself, not entirely. It’s more that, with time and with life continuing to go on, with the expectations on him to keep soldiering on, he learns to live without that person’s presence in his life. He learns to keep going. He learns to find happy moments again that aren’t overshadowed by thoughts of the person. He learns to tuck that person into his heart and his mind. He learns how to come out of the grief still intact, though changed forever by his regrets and sadness. There will be days, months, years he can go without thinking of them, but he’ll still have days, even years after that person’s death, where something will trigger that latent grief he hangs onto inside, and he’ll find himself needing to hide away and cry all over again.

She hates Vongola and hate the Mafia

And is far too loud about it too

Luciana refuses to sugarcoat her situation

She calls Vongola a 'filthy hellhole' in every two sentences, bluntly telling Timoteo that NO, her sky cousins aren't joining his filthy Famiglia, they are BETTER than Vongola, have a great future, it would be a waste of their lives to such great and powerful potential be stuck in such a hellhole like Vongola

Timoteo argues and trying to negotiate, they could just come to balls to be show as Vongola Sky and be keep safe under Vongola, for their own good. Luciana polite informs that NO, they would not, in any shape or form, be part of Vongola. She bluntly tells him she wasnt Tsuna, wasn't a meek cowardly child he could manipulate and instal as a puppet, Luciana would be ACTUALLY in change

The Ninth is AWARE he brought two unwilling civilians to be heir agaisnt their wills, but hates to be reminded of that, the old fucker liked to pretend he is a good person

Luciana calls him Kinslayer, like...in the middle of important meetings, and balls and allies. She refused to let Tsuna be forgotten, the abuse he suffered would go down in Vongola history

The old man was genuine stunned and confused about why Luciana hated him so fucking much, she openly told him both his heirs wanted to murder him in cold blood and burn his corpse

Nono insisted about the wonderfullness of Vongola and begin its Don, about Family and Bonds and Skies, about Primo and his vigilant roots, about Daniella, about duties and responsabilities like she owned them shit

Luciana wasn't a idiot, Timoteo wanted the 'ensure the future of the bloodline and his Famiglia' and keep trying to make sure he had some control over her, he set his eyes into another pawn after Xanxus killed Tsuna

They wanted to sugar coat it, act like she belonged to the 'family', like some old man from across the sea had some power over her, to decide her life. Luciana refused to be a another dead pawn

Luciana Allegri is clear with the fact she wanted to make Vongola better so it won't 'ruin people's lives like they did to Tsuna and to ME' and takes every opportunity to declares about how greed and arrogant Vongola was and how they need to lower its ego, about how much they hurt Tsuna, about how much she HATED them.

Luciana secured her position by nearly killing Xanxus in the Ring Battles and Vittoria murdered Leviathan for what happen to Lambo. Mariella though about killing them off a few times, but forcing him into serviture was better, let him bow to her like the Mad Dog he was, put him into a leash

Many claimed Xanxus was a monster, but the man was no son of Echidna

She isn't a meek little civilian girl they could hurt so easy, she is a Princess of the Underworld, a daughter of Hades, the firstborn son of Kronos and chamption of the firstborn child, Hestia Kronica.

Kazue is also very angry about his nephew begin murdered and bring Tsuna is all conversations he has with anyone from Vongola

Pattern in my OTPs: Sadistic! Top x Fearless! Bottom

Recently, I've noticed that I have a certain type when in comes to my OTPs which is a sadistic top paired with a fearless bottom. Granted, not all of my OTPs are of this type but I dont think its an exaggeration when I say that at least 90% of them are like this

GinHiji

Out of all of my OTPs, I'd say GinHiji pretty much embodies my favourite type of OTPs. Gintoki is canonically a Sadist and in fact, is known to be a Do-S alongside Sougo. Contrasting him is the fearless yet tsundere Hijikata. Another reason why I like them is the manzai combi they have. Hijikata is forever exasperated by Gintoki and cant help but be the tsukkomi to Gintoki's boke 🤣

BakuDeku

These 2 have a very complicated relationship but thankfully have improved a lot especially in recent years. Bakugou can be quite sadistic but considering what's happened between them and him canonically wants to do better, I think it'll take awhile for Bakugou to let out that sadistic side of him around Deku

With Deku though, he doesnt mind and I think we all can agree that Deku is a disastrous combination of fearless and reckless 😅

One of my 1st OTPs since high school. Now, I dont think i need to tell anyone who's ever read or watched KHR that Mukuro is hands down quite terrifying and considering his introduction, has a sadistic streak a mile wide

For Tsuna, yeah....while its true that he tend to be more afraid than not but as time went on, it became more apparent that he's grown to be couragous and fearless when it comes to his Famiglia

KamuShin

granted, this is more of a crackship since Kamui and Shinpachi barely interacted but I like how their personalities mesh together. Kamui is another canonically sadistic chara in Gintama, anyone who's ever seen him fight in the Yoshiwara or Silver Soul arc can attest to that. Not to mentioned all of the shenanigans and mayhem he likes to cause with a deranged grin

Shinpachi is noted to be fearless in his own right, capable of accomplishing feats that other normal humans would feel impossible to even try. cant forget that he's also the one who made Utsuro pause before the timeskip

plus, they're also a manzai combi! a Do-S Yato boke with a glasses tsukkomi XD

ParaEmu

initially, i like them as a switch couple but recent years make me lean more of them as a fixed pair with Parad as a top. starting out as a villain, Parad was noted to be quite sadistic especially when he possessed Emu. He's since mellowed out but since we dont see much of how the charas are post-canon, its hard to say if he retained his more sadistic nature. i tend to hc that he does but only lets it out when needed

if anyone knows Emu's not so pleasant childhood and how he's risen to overcome many obstacles in life, then i think we can agree that he's become one of the most fearless charas in Ex-Aid

okay, this one is pretty much on the nose. sadistic grim reaper hunting down everyone's favourite fearless hero anyone?

Wei Wuxian is one of the most fearless charas I've ever had the pleasure to know about. the way he holds onto his morals and convictions even as the whole world turned against him is nothing short of inspiring. born with a smile and a noble heart that's matched by his beloved husband Lan Wangji

while he's not sadistic in the usual sense, Lan Wangji in the novel is known to mercilessly tease his husband especially in :ehem: bed. not to mentioned that when he deems it necessary, this man never hesitates to swiftly cut people down with just a few words right at jugular too

DazuShi

a suicidal former Port Mafia who's known to torture people paired with his steadily fearless were-tiger. i love their dynamic

MiSawa

Miyuki Kazuya is canonically known as twisted by both allies and opponents alike even feared to the point of petrifying the target of his ire with just a glare.

Sawamura Eijun? the fearless sunshine boy who overcome odds that would and have retired many players from the game. the Yips arc was remarkable in showing Eijun's strength and determination

KaiShin

the trickster who can easily manipulate law enforcements and enemies alike. its more noted in the early chapters of the manga, but Kaito was more callous. while thats no longer the case, Kaito is still quite unhinged

Shinichi? well, with all the reckless stunts he's pulled over the past 20+ years, i think fearless is an understatement for this detective

LawLu

the recent addition to my OTP list. LawLu is the one that made me realise that I tend to favour sadistic tops when I was trying to articulate Law's preference in my HC

thats when I realised that Law has a sadistic streak in canon. while its not explored all that much since he's an ally of the Straw Hats, we see hints of it. combined with the fact that he's a nerd, big on plans and control, he's a terrifying force. this is the same guy who cut opened 100 pirate hearts and sent them to the Marines

Luffy? he's fearless as they come. overcoming many hardships and coming out stronger. who fights for freedom and nakama even if it means facing death. hell, its canon that he's not afraid to face death for what he believes in

How to get the cuddles you NEED: A tutorial

sleep pulls heavily on her eyes, a yawn ripping itself from her mouth. blinking sluggishly, she resists the urge to lie down.

"natto, tsuna mayo" a calming voice calls out to her. humming, she looks up to see toge standing over her with a smirk on his face, not that she could see it, but she just knew he was.

"kikiiiiii~ come to bed already" her voice is soft with sleep, almost a whisper.

"okaka, tsuna mentaiko" he refuses, voice light with laughter as she grabs at him blindly. finally grabbing ahold of him she pulls him close to her, stuffing her face into his chest, his sweater soft against her face.

"pleaseeee, i don't wanna sleep without you, please toge? i'll help you with your school work tomorrow, promise." she bargins, becoming slightly desperate at his refusal. he can't help but chuckle at her clingy, whiny, nature when she's tired.

"shake shouyu, tsuna mayo" he relents easily, unable to resist her adorable... well everything. and he knows she's so much better at schoolwork than him, and he definitely needs help with that stupid worksheet kusakabe sensei assigned them. after she doesn't move for a minute, he decides to just move her himself. wrapping his arms around her he drags her up the bed to the pillows where he unceremoniously drops her onto the bed, consequently getting pulled down himself as her hands are still tightly clutching his sweater. unable to detach her hands he gives up and, after a moment of struggle, pulls the blanket over them. she happily snuggles up to him, head resting in the crook of his shoulder. after closing his eyes and starting to drift off himself he's startled slightly, when she presses a soft kiss against his neck, mumbling what was most likely an "omoke". "omoke natto" he responds, falling into the clutches of sleep soon after.

                                 - morning -

"INUMAKI SENPAI, WAKE UP YOURE LATE FOR TRAINING! AND HAVE YOU SEEN SAYAKA SENPAI ANYWH-" a loud voice interrupts the calm of the morning, shattering the silence instantly. toge grumbles slightly at the noise and just pulls sayaka closer to him. "WHAT?? SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU TWO BEEN-" the yelling is blissfully interrupted, oh wait, maybe not so blissfully, by more yelling.

"nobara, what are you yelling so much about- SAYA CHAN? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE I-" the excess noise finally rouses sayaka from her sleep, lifting her head to see what all the commotion is about. nobara and yuuji stand in the door way, nobara's jaw on the floor and yuuji exclaming his surprise very, very, loudly.

"yuuji, baby, i love you but if you dont stop yelling right now i will punch your throat in" sayaka cuts off his yelling, unable to handle the noise so early in the morning. her voice is heavy with sleep but her threat is still very real, so yuuji wisely shuts his mouth.

"but saya chan, since when have you and inumaki senpai been sleeping together? do you love eachother?" he askes, at a much more reasonable noise level this time. sayaka, after realizing she is not going to be able to go back to sleep, pulls herself up into a sitting position, causing toges arms to fall down to her waist.

"its been a few months yu, sorry i didn't tell you sooner, we just wanted to establish things first to make sure everything is mutual and real. and yes, i love toge very much." sayaka explains calmly, causing yuuji to pout at her, claming she was keeping secrets, and proceeds to promptly jump on her. letting out a squawk of surprise, she readily pushes him off of her onto the floor, where he falls with a painful thump.

"are you guys done messing around yet? gojo sensei said to be quick and its been 15 minutes already." megumi's flat voice cuts though the chaos, his form suddenly materializing behind nobara.

"ACK MEGUMI DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" nobara sqeaks, jumping away from his unexpected appearance.

"whatever, sayaka senpai, please wake up inumaki senpai, we're running late this morning and knowing gojo sensei, hes gonna make you run extra laps or something stupid." megumi explains, unconcerned at his teammates dramatic reaction.

"okay megs, we'll be right there alright? just give us a few minutes to get dressed." sayaka calmly accepts, a small smile on her face as she runs her fingers though toge's already messy hair. megumi curtly nods before bodily dragging his teammates out of the room. 'well maybe we should have told them by now' she thinks amusedly, already thinking of how shes going to pay back yuuji later for jumping on her.

Brainham time

Its a warm day in italy and early in the morning. Rena is just sniffling and sneezing and feels sluggish. But the premier is soon and they have still to iron out some scenes and reherse them so even if she hasnt slept that well she will push through!

She sneezes again and Hayato, preparing his coffee and having so far not commented on her snifflinf and sneezing is gettinf a bit agitated

"Are you getting sick or something?"

"No."

"Bullshit, check your temperature!"

"Ugh! Drop it. I gotta go!"

She doesnt but she wants to escape any mention of sickness, nopr she is not getting sick that's stupid. Also she has a premier to get ready for.

So she packs her stuff and goes out to groceryshop.

They dont need a lot but she had to leave.

Its so damn warm on this day. She feels so weak. Probably because she didnt sleep well.

Maybe she should at least take it easy tod--

Her phone rings and she takes the call

There has been an issue with the backdrop for the play and the seamstress is a bit behind and needs some help.

So before her group collects for rehersal she helps out at the theater.

By the time rehersal starts she is a bit wobbly on her feet

Her group notices and they are concerned but she says its fine and she will just not push herself so much.

So she pushes herself too much during rehersal, trying to demonstrate something in full swing when it suddenly gets all black before her eyes.

She wakes up on the floor a few of her members around her and someone is yelling to someone else that she woke up and she can faintly hear someone saying "--yes she just regained consciousness again."

She tries to get up but one of the larger guys gently prevents her from it.

"Don't move so fast or you might hurt yourself."

She feels ashamed to be making a scene but the entire ensemble agrees to stop here and get her home to lay down first. They will just reherse what they have without her and memorize the lines properly.

Rena is mayed to lay down with a wet cold towel on her head. Some wonder if its the heat, others wonder if she is getting sick.

someone mentions to get her a cab home while someone else says to first inform her boyfriend.

Yeah no- she wants to protest and say she will make it home alone when the big guy from before mentions that he has her boyfriends number for emergencies.

She silently curses for ever having given it to him but its also when the fever really kicks in and with it the cramps that make her sweat and writhe in pain. Its different from period cramps. and its painfull.

She knows hayato wont come and get her he is busy with work. Someone says they will quickly go buy some painkillers against the fever and the cramps.

When hayato is called he takes the call and listens, tensing as he looks to tsuna and then presses his lips together. Tsuna frowns confused.

"I... Have to talk with my boss. If I cant make it I will definitely send someone asap." then he hangs up.

"What's wrong?"

"Rena collapsed at the theater, she has a fever and cramps."

Tsuna and Yamamotos eyes widen

"You should go get her home then!"

"But-"

"Gokudera!"

Before he can even start with his counter argument Tsuna nips it in the bud. He is not having that.

"I do not accept being the reason why you do not aid your partner during her time of need. I can handle myself and Yamamoto is still with me."

(a bit further away ava makes a soft "Oooh! :O" and claps into his hands while Sergey whistles. "He really sounds like a boss now!")

Tsunas cheeks turn slightly red at rhe praise feom afar but he stands his ground and Gokudera wirh gritted teeth bows.

"Thank you, Neo Primo. I'll be going then."

And as soon as he has officially clocked out he fucking SPRINTS to get to the cars.

Her ensemble meanwhile worries and debates if to get her a cab after all but then decide to wait at least till their one member returns with the painmeds.

The guy comes back and Rena takes the meds asking ro get a bit more time to relax before she goes home. Ahe will just lay down on the sofa outside. One of rhe girls offers to stay with her just in case and the rest return to rehersal.

Luckily tsuna and co were already close so hayato turns up quickly and parks right in a restricted area.

He rings the bell to the theater and the rehersal stops for a second before someone decides to go open the door.

Iemitsu turns up and speaks as if he knows his son but lets be re hoe much does he actually know about the intimate parts of Tsunas journey?

A lot in Reborn is done without it being said out loud. We would all believe Hibari to not be a real part of the vongola if he didnt come in clutch time and time again and had that fight against Adelheid where he spoke his own respect to Tsuna as a leader. We would still believe Gokudera to be a one sided guy who only cares about Tsuna if we disnt see him care for lambo and then slowly for the other.

So whenever we dont SEE something but are TOLD "No no i swear they feel THIS" it seems more hollow. Thats why I dont really trust the whole oh Daemon did it for Elena. I think it was consolation and trying to find something good in him when we were unmistakably shown what a depravid and incredibly cruel person he is.

And that is also why I don't believe Iemitsu to really be a father to Tsuna. We just dont see him acting like one. We are just told he is one, but only ever shown the leader of CEDEF who HAPPENS to be related to Tsuna.

I know our whole talk was about how it doesnt really NEED the sappy moments but i think in that moment I would've really liked them to either have a real conversation or Iemitsu showing actual meaningful support to Tsuna (It really doesnt help that my frienss father also is someone who was even far worse and now that he is seperated from the family he whines about how he is made out to be the villain and nobody wants to stay in contact with him. I WONDER WHY!). It feels like everyone else has at least ONE moment of actual bonding with tsuna before Iemitsu ever does.

BYAKURAN GETS SHOT BY COLLONELLOS RIFLE AND STILL HAS A SMALL MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION WITH TSUNA ABOUT HOW HE HAS CHANGED, WHICH IS LIKELY PARTIALLY WHY TSUNA GOT SO PISSED AT HIS ELIMINATION!

Iemitsu berates his son, he doesnt even explain himself or anything else. He just mentally scars his son and believes that is parenting.

Meanwhile

Reborn actually talks to Tsuna and tells him where he is going wrong. He also shows it with his fight wirh Iemitsu. Also let me point out how lovingly Reborn bonks Tsuna against the head (or pulls his hair I suppose?), point is we have seen Reborn actually hurt Tsuna physidally and this almost seems playful for reborns standarts.

Yes tsuna doesnt recognize him, but also, tsuna instinctively knows even if his conscious had not caught up to it.

I think this is why Tsuna as a protagonist is so important. I called bullshit on the elena thing but Tsuna very clearly shows thst being told "oh hey your father is kinda strong and you wont beat him by being arrogant" only leads to "okay cool. Wont do that anymore, but that doesnt change that i feel resentment."

Like with the whole "I wont be a mafia boss!", nothinf about his prior opinion changed. He wants to beat his dad now but he also is still not fucking happy about any of this. He couldve said "yeah it was fun to spend time with you!" but instead he get him rightfully calling his dad out. Because if Iemitsu truly knew Tsuna

HE WOULD KNOW THAT TSUNA DOESNT FIGHT FOR FUCKING FUN!!!!!!

Also allow me to point out how proud reborn is of him?

In reborns words he basically said "ya guys better start packing", because he sees how quickly Tsuna adapted and learned from him. and reborn is someone who constantly butts heads with others and is p harsh on his pupils. But here it really feels like REBORN is the proud father who teaches his son life lessons and Iemitsu is just... SOME GUY that happens to be related.

KHR does love and care really great but it also does imterpersonal conflict very well. If you remember that actions are usually louder than words in this series, you will be able to see through the shallow explanatory talk and notice all the small ways things do or dont match up.

I think one of my favourite moments in the series is the end of the storm battle. for one i am a die hard gokudera fan and in my opinion only the gamma fight surpasses it. And on the other-

The fact tsuna who is usually so reserved and just lets dera do his thing despite telling him quietly "you really don't have to"

Gets SO pissed at Gokudera for DARING to put his life on the line for this. A piece of jewelery and an empty title..

He calls it all meaningless if that means they cant just hang out together anymore.

Dera who links his own worth as a human being to his usefulness and position as a mafiosi is told "I just want you alive and by my side" in i think one of the most direct "this is the core of the whole series" moments we get.

When yamamoto faces ken he still holds back bc he doesnt want to get injured but as soon as TSUNA is in danger he says "fuck it" and gets serious.

In the shimon arc hibari picks up on tsunas depressive state and it annoys him so he changes that in his own way.

Its how mukuro in the rainbow trials cares for a tired fran.

Its how during the ring battles the girls and mama Sawada CONSTANTLY visit Lambo to make sure he is okay.

Its also how tsuna saves him in the first place. Fuck the rings, fuck the position, fuck this whole stupid arangement of fights- he has to save his family.

These people often get violent with each other and agressive, they bicker and they fight, but when the chips are down, all they care about is each other.

Most shounen protags have some kind of dream or goal, Tsuna just really really wants a quiet life and to spend that with his friends and family. The whole mafia buisness is just what he needs to do to keep that family he gained safe. Nothing tsuna EVER does is motivated by some ulterior motive for fame or riches. Its either him being FORCED into action bc he was literally kicked into it by reborn, or its because he has to resolve the situation to keep his friends and family safe.

The Caallone has a FUCKTON of members and so does the vongola and Tsuna really really really really REALLY doesnt care for any of that because in the end his own world is very small compared to the mafia.

I have to think of that one quote "why do you want to save this planet?" -"Because I live here!" for tsuna it would be "because my family lives here."

I mean be Tsuna isn't "heroic". Yeah he cares about other people and strangers, he helps old ladies, but when something is going on his go to isn't "I have to do something!" it's uauslly "man I hope SOMEONE does something. Not gonna be me tho!"

I'm so glad you get what I was going for in the post. Those moments drive me insane. "They bicker and they fight but when the chips are down, all they care about is each other" and "Because my family lives here" I FEEL ABSOLUTELY INSANE ABOUT THESE LINES. You're so so right!!! The Vongola kids bully and tease and are nasty to each other, until it comes down to it and they fight tooth and nail for each other. Exactly what I was going for. The series doesn't need those scenes where Tsuna tells Gokudera he cares about him and they're warm and cuddly towards each other, bc it comes through in his words when meek and reserved Tsuna yells at him and tells him to stop trying to die for him or for some stupid ring. And I think that's so fun!! All the other stuff you listed also drives me so insane. For yamamoto, him letting himself get injured for Tsuna's sake was so good and Tsuna's love for Yamamoto shone through there too because Tsuna saw the injury and felt such immense guilt only apologizing for ruining everything for Yamamoto. Only for Yamamoto to go "No, I'm fine. As long as YOU'RE safe" like that's so good???

The Hibari thing?? How he sees Tsuna's depressed state over it all and all he says to comfort him is "Watch me." because that's all he could understand about the situation. That if he wins his fight, somehow Tsuna will cheer up. and its just so???? GOD ITS JUST SO FULL OF LOVE. Every character in this series shows love in their own ways and it drives me maddd

Mukuro taking care of a tired child too doesn't surprise me with his backstory. He's so gentle with people that are in "his care" even if he won't actively admit it.

The girls as well I'm so glad you pointed them out!! We so like to ignore them in this fandom and thats so sad bc the series makes it really clear that they are part of this equation too. That without their support, the fighters would not have made it. Tsuna could relax knowing Mama Sawada and the girls were watching Lambo and focus on his fight. And during future, he could focus on his training. Not to mention, they're just so supportive especially after they find out what's going on. The boycott episode and its resolution are some of my favorite scenes in Future, it makes me insane that the show gave the girls a Moment to remind us that they too are both deeply loved and ALSO love the boys just the same.

You're so right about Tsuna not being heroic, hell even in Shimon arc Enma is being bullied right infront of him and its Reborn that has to be like "STOP OR SAWADA TSUNAYOSHI WILL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!" i love that you made lambo a rain in the flameswap au... are there any other changes he has other than deciding "hmm, reborn doesn't deserve to die :) besties now!!" like, is he less likely to impulsively use the ten-year bazooka? d... does he have to fight squalo in the varia ring battles?

i think hes more emotionally aware? like most of the time he acts like a kid! maybe a bit less all over the place but still the same. but hes still Aware. might not understand the situation but he'll adapt to the situation and can calm himself down as to not trouble others. even though he's been on his own for quiet a bit, he still needs adult help sometimes and he can get that if hes more "cooperative" in their eyes. so that influences most of his interactions with people, especially adults.

i think when he meets Tsuna, Tsuna will get a distressed about sending a five year old to kill. at first Lambo just tries to play it off be seeing the genuine worry that he shows (and will continue to show) makes him go "<:3c i can be selfish?" and act like a brat around him n Nana since they dont want anything but his happiness and safety. later on he opens up to the rest of them and Reborn bc fambily,, they care he,,

also he would use the bazooka less! doesnt really think much about it, just kinda thinks its a pain :/ would only switch places with his future self if he really has to and even then he'd prefer to use the grenades instead. he'd probably use it once or twice before the varia arc 🤔🤔 he uses it very sparingly.

oh fuck Squalo,,, he does fight him i think. Tsunas going insane in the background and Takeshi gently asks him if something he really wants to go thru bc :/ elite assassin squad. Lambos all for it at that point, wants the vongola to know that he cares for them right back and will face the really scary shark dude for them. i think that he'd put up a pretty decent fight for a time-hopping 5 yr old. tyl Lambo would appear twice??? the first time to give himself a bit of an edge and the second time he comes with a grenade in hand to switch to twenty years later Lambo. unfortunately he still loses but Squalo is also fuckt up.

i wanted to try to associate some kny characters to the dying will flames from reborn. Im only going with the primary one but some characters might have some characterestic of 2 tho I don't feel competant enough to go with the earth ones. My list is not perfect feel free to disagree and put your input. There will be spoilers from both of those fandom mostly for the kny manga. I also used those post:here, here, here and here to help with my decisions. I recommend you read them if you want to have a better insight or if you are curious.

Tanjirou Kamado: 100% a sky flame user. He share some similarities with Tsuna. He does'nt seem to be the type willing to take the lead but he have the capacities to do so. His sense of smell goes well with the sky flames insight and the principal harmony characteristic of the sky flame. I wouls see him using the hyper intuition.

Nezuko kamado: I had to think really hard becsuse I am leaning toward sun and lighthning since both of those flames traits applies to her a lot but surprisingly lighthing. Her fighting is close to the sun users characteristics support both offensive and deffensive and healing but with the impulsivity of lighthning users. She goes straightfowards using he demon blood art technique thay can be destructive at the risk at turning completely to a demon. Also her ambition to protect is very strong.

Zenitsu Agatsuma: 100% lightning not because of his breath but because of his impulsivity. He shares some traits with Lambo who needs to be reassured constantly and they both do their best. Also lightning users are both on the defense and offence and can be pretty dammaging if we look at his first form.

Inosuke Hashibira: surprisingly a rain user but he does have some of the storms users characteristics. He is also a bit similar to Squalo. Inosuke tends to starts fight tho he is'nt the one to back down and at one point he questions his strengh in a similar way Yamamoto did. The principal trait I identify him with the rain flame is thay rain users tends to be supports, they slows down the ennemy or does a diversion the best exemple would be the fight against Douma.

Tamayo: a mist she have that mysterious vibe i get from her and her blood demon art techniques are closes to what mist users does they stands on non close combat.

Yushiro: a lighting when it comes to tamayo he will do anything to protect her and he also got the impulsive of mpst of the lightnings.

Sabito: sun, he his the one to tell Tanjirou to surpass his limit and his proeficient in his training and his abilities in a fight.

Makomo: Mist, the way she talk reminds me of mist user they are also observant and we can see that when she helps Tanjirou with his training.

Kanao Tsuyuri: A mist flame user I think she shares some traits with Chrome Dokuro like they both struggles to make their own desicions at the begining. Also Kanao having a good eyeshieght and the last form of the breath of the flower reminds me of the vongola gear lenses.

Genya Shinazugawa: Another lightning user, he fights from the side lines and got the impulsivity and ambition of becoming a pillar so Sanemi can accept him.

Oyakata sama: Sky, he has that calming aura that bring peace and harmony, his pillars respect him deeply. He easily accept the kamado sibling situation.

Mitsuri Kanroji: Sun she is active on her physical strenght, she is supportive of everyone and is'nt afraid to show it.

Iguro Obanai: A cloud flame , he kind of reminds me of Hibari, He does his thinga on his on way and does'nt really cares about others opinion.

Himejima gyomei: lightning, he his a strong support and he have a good defense. He isn't mich impulvise as others lightning users but he is loyal to oyakata.

Giyuu Tomioka: A rain user, he does'nt tends to goes in fights but is drawn to them due to his job. I can see some parallels with yamamoto when he questions himself about his position as a pillar.

Shinobu Koucho: surprisingly a storm flame user, their main caracteristic are desintegration and desctruction it can applies well to her poisons. Also storm users have strong desires and it can be self-destructive do I have to remind you wich drastic measures she had to take to kill douma.

Rengoku Kyoujurou: A sun user. Sun users are active in and out the battlefield, they rely to mostly strenght and/or speed. Rengoku is super passionate and supportive he used his skilled to protect a lot of people in the train arc.

Sanemi Shinazugawa: Storm, his breath of the wind is pretty destructive. Storms users tend to get in arguments easily. He did'nt hesitate to draws his own blood to prove a point.

Uzui Tengen: Sun he his present for those around him. He posses a great strenght and speed. Sound goes well with the activation characterestic of sun flames and put his energy in takong care of his wives.

Muichirou Tokito: mist what can i say he fits fits with most of mist flames users. we can see he is elusive and he can change after his encounter with tanjirou in the hidden village. He kind of reminds me of Fran.

Muzan Kibutsuji: Surprisingly a sky flame user. He would be able to use the flame of wrath xanxus uses since it's a combinaison of both sky and storm and he reminds me way too much of oresent xanxus. The harmony characteristic of the sky flame can be seen in Muzan. in a way he hates changes and he want to keep the hierarchy of the 12 moon the same for the longest decade.

Kokushibou: storm i mean did you saw him fight against three pillar he is in the center of that battle and have a good offense. Also the complex he had woith his brother illustrate some of his desire i dont really know how to word it.

Douma: If we take in consideration his lack of emotions and beliefs im not totally sure if he would have a peticullar flame since flame users needs to have a strong resolve to develop a flame. Tho if we set asides that he would surprisingly be a sky flame userbecause of his polyvalent style of combat. He understands how others act/react in battles pretty quickly and him being a cult leader he knows what to do to keep it at peace. He reminds me of Byakuran because of that goddamn fake smiles and the playful act.

Akaza: A sun type he focus a lot on getting stronger and his fighthing style is pretty similar to Ryohei's punches. He does'nt hesitate to speak his mind with enemies he finds strong.

Hantengu: cloud, he his cetain he is innocent despites what his actions and he multiply trough his differents personalities.

Gyokko: Cloud his skills of turning things to fish go along the propagation ascpect of the cloud users also he won't change his manner and artworrks usually stay the same.

Daki: lightning she got the impulsivity when it comes to her childish behavior she also take what she want and the uses of her sash is pretty convinient of the offence and defense.

Gyutaro: A cloud user his poison his dangerous and goes with the propagation aspect. he have a lot of pride and he won't change anytime soon.

Enmu tami: Well it's kind of obvious he is a mist user. Those users are eluvise and act from the sidelines and non in hands on hands. Enmu blood demon art is close to illusions. He would have a secondary cloud because Enmu is the type to calculate a precise plans and have some difficulty to adapt to changes.

Rui: storm He goes to great lenght to achieve his desire of feeling bonds with his fake familly. When he battles he does not hides his killing intents and his skills are destructive.

Kaigaku: a storm, he got a strong desire of being reconized by others even at the cost of becoming a demon himself.

Entering the main house was hard- Adel had waited for nightfall before even attempting to leave her hiding place. She’d waited until the screams died down. That did not make it easier to leave her hiding place. The fear of encountering the slaughterer of her people was ever present in her shaking body, but she strode forward. She could not stand still- if she stood still, she would die before their killer would even reach her. She would perish, falling to her knees, dying slowly of grief, and she could not stand still, could not let that happen.

She needed to find survivors. Having someone else to care for should distract her enough.

So. The main house.

She did not know what had been harder- walking past their corpses, or listening to their screams while being unable to do a thing about it, hiding in a closet, in the dark, praying to God nobody would find her.

She averted her eyes from Kozato-san when she came to Enma’s bedroom- it was okay. It was alright. Kozato-san might be dead, but surely, surely she’d have protected Enma. Kozato Chinatsu had loved the fiercest out of every person Adel knew, and her cold corpse could not mean anything, because death would not stop a love as fierce as that.

Adel had to believe that.

(Adel was lying through her teeth)

The corpse was small, the corpse was redheaded, and it still clutched the twin’s stuffed rabbit to its chest, even in death. The soft, worn white fabric was drenched in rusty red- blood beginning to dry.

Adel’s heart stopped.

Of course, she found out it was Mami later, but at the time she couldn’t bring herself to look at the mutilated body of her best friend. All she could think when she saw him, alive and well, was "Thank god it was Mami." It was ugly but true. She’d been so grateful he was alive. Perhaps that was were the difference in attitude after the massacre came from- whereas Adel thought "Thank god it was Mami,", Enma thought "Why was it Mami? Why not me?" And drowned in his own apparent uselessness, rid of his precious twin.

(The beginning of the end)

Adel was ten and she had no idea what to do, but she did know they had to leave the island. They didn't have the manpower to bury the corpses of their family, and even if they did, she was pretty sure they wouldn't have been able to take doing it anyway. They had to leave the island, the corpses unburied, trauma rampant.

Julie was the one who stopped them from going immediately. He was eleven, the eldest, and even though he never had a leading bone in his body, he knew about stuff. Like the fact that if they went out there, they'd be put in the system.

“We won't last a day out there- seven kids living alone will be noticed. On the other hand... Seven kids and a slightly absentee guardian? It'll attract attention, but it could work.”

Adel sized him up. “...Who are you going to impersonate?”

Julie grimaced. “The person with the most money on the island. Kozato Makoto.”

Enma, to say the least, did not take it well.

Seeing his dead father’s face was far from Enma’s biggest problems, though it was a painful one. Honestly, most of the time he couldn’t look in the mirror. Mami’s face was staring back at him. He saw her grow up there, along with him, until his jaw was wide, his shoulders broad, and stubble encroached on his cheeks. Then he couldn’t pretend it was her anymore.

(It broke him a little)

Sometimes, it was like Enma had died instead of Mami. At first, it was subtle. Enma’s countenance became fiercer, more like the leader he’d never really been to them. Adel thought it was a result of the slaughter of their family- but soon it became clear it was not.

Not at all, really. Because Enma’s hair was growing out. First past his chin. Then his shoulders. Then his waist. Long, red hair, tumbling down his back, wavy curls framing his face. This was the second sign.

The third, however, was unmistakable. The long skirts, the dresses. The plastic cherries on the elastics he used to do his hair. They’d been Mami’s favourite when she was still alive.

That was what did it. The realization struck her like a lightning bolt, leaving charred skin, burned hair and the stench of ozone behind.

The fierce attitude, the hair, the clothing, the way he talked to them even. Everything was modelled after his sister. It was like Kozato Enma had disappeared into the mists of time, obscured under the ghost of his sister. Adel felt like throwing up.

She didn’t know what to do.

(She never did)

Life went on. They went to school. They ate. They survived. And slowly, very slowly, they healed. Enma did not stop pretending to be Mami, and while uncomfortable with it, nobody spoke up about it. Not until it got worse.

Enma was approaching thirteen now and hitting his first growth spurt. He shot up in height, his jaw was widening, becoming squarer, and his shoulders were becoming broader. The dresses could not hide it. He bought frillier ones anyway.

It was when she saw plastic surgery sites in his internet history that Adel snapped.

"Enma, Mami's the dead one. She was buried. Not you. Not you!" Adel picked up the scissors and grabbed his hair harshly- long strands of blood red hair falling to the ground as if shedding the hair would make Mami's funeral shroud fall off Enma's shoulders. Enma's shaking, and Adel had no idea what she was doing- for all she might know she just caused even more trauma- but... Adel has had no idea what she had been doing since she was ten and fished her friend from the ashes left of their village. Since she took them from among the corpses. So she says the only thing that kept her going at that time: "Even if you feel like you're being buried alive, rescue the others from the same fate before you let them suffocate you forever." He listened. It was like Mami died all over again, and all that was left is a crying boy in a frilly pink skirt, red hair choppy, unevenly cut. Short. It was hard, but it was a beginning. It was grieving Mami all over again, it was Enma figuring out how to be Enma instead of Mami. It was a lot of things. Enma was not the leader Mami-Enma was, but Adel believed in him. He would make it. (Enma never grew his hair out again).

The Enma before Tsuna wore black hoodies and jeans. The Enma before Tsuna was bullied terribly. The Enma before Tsuna was so filled with grief and rage, every single thing brought up to the surface again. The Enma before Tsuna attacked.

The Enma with Tsuna was still sad. He still got bullied. He still didn’t know who he was, but by now he’s realized that would probably be something he’ll chase after his whole life. The task of a lifetime, finding out who one is. But the Enma with Tsuna also has friends; People not as easily dragged into the rage and the desperation and the grit of their nightmares. He is less angry, happier, and he wears flowy lavender blouses that make him soft and sweet but do not hide his broad shoulders in any way. His hair is short, the memory of being Mami-Enma forever haunting him, as if growing his hair out again would tempt him into falling back into old bad habits.

The Enma with Tsuna made Adel question herself a lot. Both the actions she had taken in the years before, as well that one disastrous conversation that may have helped him for the better, but had most likely damaged him terribly as well. There are misunderstandings to be cleared up, and Adel won’t let corpses lie unburied (and believe her, she has buried far too many).

The Enma with Tsuna is the one Adel goes to talk to.

‘'...You know I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to be a girl, right? It’s just being Mami that I had a problem with. Because you’re Enma. You’re Enma and I love you for you, however you want to be.’'

Enma looked up, hands caressing the grass they were seated upon softly, and the expression on his face so gentle, so sweet, that Adel could not help but hold her heart, breathless. ‘'I don’t think I’m a girl, Adel. I don’t really think I’m a boy either. I’m just... Enma.’'

A smile crept up on Adel’s face as she took his hand, laying back into the grass and enjoying the warm afternoon sun. ‘'That’s enough, Enma. That’s more than enough.’'

Also one thing i constantly wonder is how it would be if for a short period of time the Unseen Varia are tasked to "assist" Tsuna and his family in getting accostumed to life in italy. Hayato doesnt really need it, he is plenty comfortable with the mafia life but the others? Not so much. Reborn is kinda busy with a lot of stuff regarding actually building up a structure for the family, so they were called to help instruct the newcomers to this life and how to actually survive in italy (Unfortunately Tsunas way of doing things does not work that well in a place where the mafia is 90% of the cities population). Squalo only agreed to it because right now there are little hits ordered and the higher ranks are too expensive to deploy so sending them for lower rank missions would be a waste of respurces.

"Go show this trash how not to fucking bite it in the first week in italy!"

Lor: are we gonna get paid?

Ser: dude. But actually good question. Captain, will we be compensated in any way?

Squalo: standart A rate flat

Ser: FLAT?! (meaning instead of a per hour pay its a set amount of money for the whole mission irrelevant of any additional hours or circumstances)

Lor: Standart A Flat?! You gotta be fucking kidding me, isn't thia a super important mission?!

Leo: *soft worried and anxious whimper at the hightening tension*

Ava: Does that mean each "lesson" will be counted as an A Flat, or our entire stay?

Squ: every lesson

Ser: oh, okay, I'm cool with that.

Lor: can we squeeze any additional pay from them?

Ser: you want to scam Neo Primo for additional pay?!

Lor: hey its a good lesson in and of itself to not be sucha a damn pushover.

Squalo: sure, if you dont get a bullet to the shins, go ahead.

And thus the "Unseen Varia" make their way to the Neo Primo Famiglia. Tsuna is not fucking THRILLED being informed that this is happening about 10 minutes before they arrive, and to his horror they are actually a bit early- and the confusion and shock only gets worse when Yamamoto loudly calls "Ava! :D" only for this young boy to look up, grin widely and rush to Yamamoto yelling "Takeshi!" before jumping into his open arms and giving him a kiss to both cheeks that Yamamoto actually reciprocates.

Yama: it's been so long!

Ava: since the future I believe!

Yama: seriously?!

They both laugh and finally the rest of the Varia that are unknown to the rest of them, close up to the group.

The guy with the long white hair that is NOT Squalo, joins with a grin and as Ava lets go of Yamamoto gives him a bro-y handshake.

"Hey, Takeshi! Whats up man?"

"Nothing much! I didn't know you guys would come!"

The group is not surprised at the fluent japense, after all thats what the Varia officers they met also displayed, but the familiarity is jarring until Yamamoto explains.

"Everyone, this is Ava and this is Sergey, they're Squalos second in command of the rain division."

Ser: sup!

Ava: *bowing* it's a pleasure to meet you all in person. During his time training with my brother, Takeshi told us a lot about all of you.

Yamamoto grins widely to which Tsuna just looks a but curious.

"Brother?"

"Yes!" Ava smiles proud.

"I am Squalos younger brother, nice to meet you!"

There is a round of genuine shock (Squalo has a LITTLE BROTHER?!?!?) and Tsuna mentally notes that they all seem a LOT more tolerable than the Varia they met- in fact Ava doesnt seem at ALL like Squalo- then Tsuna also thinks back on the ringbattles and how Ava must've seen his brother get mauled by a shark.

Ava: mh? Are you worried about the shock of seeing Squ lose and get jumped by a shark?

Tsuna: (he calls him "Squ"...) Um-- yeah.

Ava: it wasn't your fault. You didn't design that battle arena and besides, Dino immideatly called me to confirm, that my brother was okay.

The temperature drops a few degrees and when Ava opens his eyes, they are devoid of any life despite the smile on his face. It just does not reach the eyes.

Ava: otherwise I would've killed everyone in that building and then myself.

Tsuna: (NEVERMIND HE IS JUST AS CRAZY!!)

But Yamamoto breaks the tension by pattimg Avas shoulder and laughing.

"It's good that Dino-san was there!"

Ava immideatly returns to normal

"Yeah!"

Lorenzo then loudly proclaims

"Allright, now that the shmoozing is over, let's get to the point."

He looks directly at Tsuna who jolts.

"We four are the strongest members of the Varia right after the officers. So we were tasked to get you civis into shape." Gokudera clicks his tongue.

"Don't call me a fucking Civi."

Lor: oh? The storm brat has a loose tongue, doesn't he? And you wanna stop me HOW exactly? Throw some firework at me?

Dera: Those fireworks almost killed your damn psycho prince!

Lor: and yet you still lost against said psycho prince

Dera: at least I was a representative for the Vongola in that fight and not some benchwarmer of a second class institution like the Varia!

Ser: Leo, get him!

Ava sighs as Leo quickly grabs hold of Lorenzo and pulls him back.

"Let go of me, Leo, I'm gonna cut this brat limb from fucking limb!"

On the other side Yamamoto has a tight grip on Gokudera. Despite being older and more mature, he still has his temper.

"What Lorenzo wanted to say-" Ava then continues "is that we are here to train you in the survival arts of the mafia life. The city you chose to reside in from now on is to 90% inhabitet by mafiosi of several generations in. They are very well adapt in conning and scheming for their own benefit. Even with the Vongola backing you, they will do whatever they can to bring you down and seize power from you, since they just see you as a civi newcomer. If you had taken mantle as the Tenth of the Vongola Famiglia they would've still shown respect out of fear of angering the entire clan, however now that you have basically opened a new branch, at least as far as the unassociated know, they will try to outsmart you to get a foothold in the power structure. We from the Varia are the ones with adequat experience and knowledge to teach you how to navigate such an environment."

Around half through Avas explanation Reborn joined them and just confirms with a nod.

Lor: that being said, we take half at the beginning of the day and half at the end of it.

Tsuna: half...?

Lor: this isn't some kind of favor we do for a friend, this is a JOB, so as you hired us, you'll have to pay us per hour rates.

Sergey seems a bit nerveous, eyes flicking to Reborn, since he knows Lorenzo is just trying to get MORE money, as all payments usually go through the Varia financial infrostructure but since this IS a good learning opportunity, Reborn turns to Tsuna after a moment of contemplation and just says

"You heared the man. Pay up."

And thus begins unofficially the Unseen Varias mission to instruct the Neo Vongola Primo family in mafia daily life 101.

I really love this little scenario! I don't really have anything to add to it because it's just absolutely lovely the way it is! However, I do want to say again that I would definitely read full novels on these characters! I especially want to say that I love and admire your dialoguing skills. I could really hear each of the character's different voices in my head. Ava has a slighter lighter voice in my head than Squalo, but still has that growling, gruff sound to it that gets worse when he gets upset and he and his brother share some of the same facial expressions and body language when I picture it out in my head. Lor, in my head, has the deeper voice with a slight drawl on some words and his posture and body language is both kind of predatory but also relaxed at the same time as I play the scene out, just because I can hear and picture it so well just reading it all, so compliments to your skills there!!

One think that upset me about Tsuna in both in Canon and Fanon is that his status as a powerless puppet made him an awful boss and friend

Vongola can use and abuse people under his rule, he wont go against the Ninth or Iemitsu for them, or Reborn

They would force everyone Tsuna knows and love like lambs to slaughter and the boy wont do anything because he is a spineless coward

Even if said people are his friends that helped and aided him while no one else did

'they are her family, and Luciana is Vongola, therefore they are Vongola, they part of her Famiglia',

Other part of me says “ho don’t do it” because I hate writing with potentially jossed big theories

How does Vongola still make so much money if not many ppl outside of heroes know who the fuck they are and they divested themselves of all most of the shady business practices???

IDK maybe they make the majority wealth from their business and support division who have a huge monopoly in the distribution of parts used for support equipment (ofc they won’t call themselves something as obvious as Vongola they’d be like something quaint like Giannini’s or something)

Like making a whole ass customized suit for a bunch of heroes on a massive scale is hard, there are proabably standard equipment and parts for things as simple as the containers that hold Bakugo’s sweat like no way one design company can make everything from scratch, customized or not

Or maybe the reason they help do dirty jobs for the Pro Heroes and get paid handsomely for it because they don’t fit in the dichotomy of the heroes and villains

The freshly recruited Vongola Pro Heroes must get along REALLY WELL with the Mafioso turned Pro Heroes /s

They probably adore the 10th Gen as bosses for being fair and sorta okay (?) people

Heaven forbid the ones that Xanxus brings onto the Varia like training for the Varia is probably like “forget all the shit you learned in school you’re gonna kill a dude for the Pro Heroes”

Either that or they’re probably happier about the slightly better freedom of not being held to the court of public opinion so they’re far rougher than the Billboard ranked Pro Heroes (I still can’t get over how Pro Heroes are ranked like pop stars in this world)

Also likely some mafia family who resent the Vongola deeply for not honoring Omerta even after the Vindice could not longer uphold it

Tsuna probably has plans to not make the Vongola absolutely private after all and wants them to go public and so shit happens and it throws a wrench in those plans probably because since when has anything Tsuna done go smoothly?

The Public Safety Commission probably made Hawks work with Vongola to get pointers on how to properly infiltrate the League

I have not read/watched Reborn in years, so my memory of everyone’s characters is probably so out of whack where Tsuna is probs snarkier than canon and is a little nuts after too much exposure to mafia bullshit

Why I like them: He’s such a good guy!! The kind of person who would pick you up in a bear hug if you were feeling sad and would make sure bullies left you alone. Plus he’s always looking out for the younger ones? Kyoko’s so lucky to have him as a big brother tbh

Why I don’t: He’s very dense, you could say, and I kind of disliked him at first because he wouldn’t take a hint when Tsuna kept refusing to join the boxing club. Also he’s hard to draw

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Maybe the zoo episode? He just wanted to fight a bear smh

Favorite season/movie: Future arc! He didn’t have a very big part despite being one of the guardians, but I liked how TYL Ryohei kept looking out for the kiddos, and it was heartwarming to learn that he’d been running around all over Japan looking for them before Irie bazooka’d him.

Favorite line: I don’t know, I’m trash at remembering specifics. Uh… “THIS BOX IS EXTREMELY YELLOW!!”

Favorite outfit: Suit. I prefer all the KHR charas in suits tbh

OTP: ???? I don’t really spare him much thought in terms of shipping so I guess Hana?? Considering the implications they were together in the future. It might be interesting too, since she’s generally level headed and cynical and he’s such a cheerfully obstinate optimist. I read a fic of them once and it was really nice.

Brotp: HIM AND HIBARI!! I’ve always liked the thought of them being somewhat friends (by which I mean Ryohei thinks they’re friends and Hibari can’t convince him otherwise and resignedly just goes with it) since they’re the oldest guardians and both look out for the others in their own ways, and that was cemented when I found out that Ryohei started talking to him on the roof in one of the secret bullet novels or smth. …This reminds me of a thing I drew once

Head Canon: He basically just adopts all the guardians (minus perhaps Hib) as his younger siblings. Helps Yamamoto with training, reminds Gokudera to rest up and eat right, plays with Lambo, stays up late talking to Chrome if she needs and goes places with her if she feels nervous, and looks out for Tsuna.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t think I have one? Ryohei’s just such a Good Boy in general I wouldn’t change a thing
