April Study Challenge Day 8 - What’s your favorite book?

I just love books! Actually, I read all sci-fi and fantasy books as they show me different worlds and bring me far away from all my problems ^^ And I read all kind of stuff - from Kerrelyn Sparks’s Love at Stake vampire romans to Jean-Louis Fetjaine’s elf-trilogy or Tolkien’s Books. I guess I love Tolkiens books the most, because he wrote very classically but he also created fantastic world like no one before! I also like Myst-books which are based on the computer game with the same name - thy have this wonderful idea that well wrote books create a new world and also a portal to it... I like also classic literature - Schiller, Goethe, Shakespeare, Hoffmann...

Unfortunately I don’t have enough time for reading due to my studies =( But I’ll try to change it this year and take more time for it =)

I find it so heartbreaking how i look at the rank of books I bought recently in a used book fair (~10 books) and wishing I could read them but have to shake my head and go back to studying 🥀

Voilà mon wrap-up aprile-maggio.

<<L’Attraversaspecchi di Christelle Dabos, è una saga letteraria Fantasy. Fa da sfondo un universo composto da 21 arche, tante quanti sono i pianeti che orbitano intorno a quella che fu la Terra. La protagonista, Ofelia, è originaria dell’arca “Anima”; una ragazza timida, goffa e un po’ miope ma con due doni particolari: può attraversare gli specchi e leggere il passato degli oggetti. Lavora come curatrice di un museo finché le Decane della città decidono di darla in sposa al nobile Thorn, della potente famiglia dei Draghi. Questo significa trasferirsi su un’altra arca, “Polo”, molto più fredda e inospitale di Anima, abitata da bestie giganti e famiglie sempre in lotta tra di loro. Ma per quale scopo è stata scelta proprio lei?

Tra oggetti capricciosi, illusioni ottiche, mondi galleggianti e lotte di potere, Ofelia scoprirà di essere la chiave fondamentale di un enigma da cui potrebbe dipendere il destino del suo mondo.>>

Devo ammettere che avevo delle aspettative più alte; specialmente per quanto riguarda il secondo capitolo della saga, che ho trovato prevedibile soprattutto verso la fine del libro dove avrei preferito o doverci ragionare sopra oppure restare sorpresa.

Resta comunque una bellissima saga che mi è piaciuta molto, che ti cattura e invoglia alla lettura. Ho trovato fantastico, in particolare, tutto il "world building" e la sua narrazione, simile alla descrizione di un quadro.

Ora non mi resta che leggere il terzo capitolo.

Missing The Good Old Days

The best about being a child and a teenager was being able to read a lot. Still going to school and living at home meant that I had very much time to read. No chores, no errands to run, just homework. Now it’s very different. Not only do I have to spend many more hours at work than at school, I also have many things to do additionally. Housework and laundry (which I hate), tax return, grocery shopping, cooking and all this stuff which never seems to get any less. 

There’s also my master’s degree. I’m still in the early stages and because I have to earn money, I’m studying at nights and weekends. That’s really cutting into my reading time. In the summer I can deal with that kind of stuff better, but now it’s already grey and cold and rainy outside, all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a good book and read. Not going to happen that much though.
