Noah (they/them) is the writer of All At Sea and the voice of February. They're currently in the process of completing their MA in English Literature, which focuses on the importance of the found family trope in queer, POC-led narratives. When they're not drowning in books or literary analysis, you can find them staring blearily at a blank Word Doc, or drowning in all the different audio dramas they still need to listen to.

Scotchy @secondhand-coelacanth (any pronouns) is a producer of All At Sea and the voice of Sturgeon. They found their passion for podcasting through working on The Hermit Archives as an editor and minor character, and can't wait to bring more sounds and noises right to your eardrums. When he isn't splicing voice lines for enrichment, or surviving the horrors of academia, Scotchy can be found making music, crocheting, or fishing around for a new hobby to try out.

Louis Wolf @louis-dc (he/they) is a producer of All At Sea, he is a disabled artist/actor based in Colorado. Doing theatre in high school helped to reveal his passion for storytelling, specifically with acting and directing. This has fed in well to a love of dnd. When not playing ttrpgs with friends, Louis can be found playing video games, yelling about superheroes, or watching bird documentaries with their cat. Louis is the assistant producer of Soul Operator, you can hear them as Alex in episode eight of The Grotto and Athena in the upcoming audio drama Forged Bonds. He is creator of upcoming talking head podcast Media Microscope.

Rowan Odom @twinstrangersp (they/them) Rowan, sound designer of All At Sea, is a non-binary creator whose passion lies in creating stories in a post-Covid world, specifically those filled with queerness, love, and horror. They also make time for D&D and random crafts in their spare time! They are one of the Strangers of Twin Strangers Productions and the creator of the studio’s first AD, Syntax. They are also the main editor in the upcoming Rites of Descendancy and can be heard as a voice in The Moon Crown as Aria, and Syntax as Elora.

About Me

Hello there! I'm Drakmanka, an Asexual, Genderfluid/Non-Binary, plural Dragonkin. I use They/Them pronouns and often refer to myself as "This Dragon".

Current age: 32 years.

Though I am host of a plural system, this blog will predominantly or possibly exclusively be run by me, Drakmanka. My headmates prefer more private settings in which to front and share their thoughts.

My alterhuman identities (that I am confident about) are as follows, in order of importance to me: Dragon, dinosaur, raven, Tigger, demigod (of some sort, still figuring that one out), and elf. I am also questioning a ghoul 'type. I identify as both Therian and Otherkin.

I am also cat-hearted, rat-hearted, horse-hearted, and ent-hearted.

My plural system is primarily comprised of fictive walk-ins, but a few of my OCs have also shown up (this actually makes writing about them really hard with someone actively critiquing my portrayal of them).

While wearing my Human Costume(TM) I drive a school bus and make cat noises at my coworkers (some of whom do it back!). In my free time I enjoy chatting online with fellow alterhumans, working on one of my original stories, drawing (mostly dragons), reading, playing video games, and building LEGO sets and MOCs.

I have two cats: Layden my heart-cat; a grey tuxedo rescue who's been with me for over 10 years, and Jasmine the family cat; a flame-point Siamese who was rehomed to us last year when her original owner had to move to a retirement home.

I've been keeping rats for nearly 17 years now. I'm currently without rats after the passing of my elderly boys Frodo, lost to cancer, and Samwise, who mercifully passed from simple old age. I'm unsure when I will be ready to open my heart to new rats, but I know myself; I go a special kind of crazy without them.

And lastly on the pets front, I keep a tropical freshwater aquarium. It's a 29-gallon community tank. Ask about fish names if you're curious!

Some of my favorite titles and franchises of various media (in no particular order) are: Bionicle, Lord of the Rings (especially the books!), Minecraft, Dishonored, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, D&D5e, Girl Genius, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Stargate SG1, Star Trek, Star Wars, Dragonriders of Pern, Super Mario Bros, Spyro (the Dragon/Legend of), Calvin and Hobbes, TES Skyrim, The Age of Fire, and Wings of Fire.

Some of my non-media-related interests are: Zoology, Paleontology, Meteorology, electronics, horticulture, auto mechanics, Astronomy, forestry, and Geology.

I also enjoy training my pets, practicing music (I play piano as well as ocarina, and am trying to get good at guitar), language study (I am low-level conversational in Spanish, am attempting to learn Thai, and want to learn German, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian someday), and I'm trying to raise a bonsai tree from seed but keep losing my seedlings.

I collect rocks, rubber duckies, and suffer from an affliction known as bibliophilia which has rendered my bookshelves utterly stuffed. I have a plushie collection that takes up a little over half my bed. I'm also addicted to music.

I enjoy most forms of music except jazz, rap, and blues. My favorite music genres are Alternative, Rock, Metal, World, and Ambient Music.

I live with my Found Family whom I affectionately refer to as my sister, my gramma, and Sensei/grampa.

I am adopted, which definitely makes the way I define family looser than some.

My adoptive mom, I refer to as just my mom, and same with my adoptive dad. I have an adoptive older sister who amusingly is almost the same age as my chosen sister. I have two biological half-sisters, whom I generally refer to as my bio-sisters. I refer to my biological mother as my birth mom, and my biological father as my father. I have never met either of them but I have met my bio-sisters.

I also have step-family: my dad divorced my mom many years ago now (amicably) and she remarried when I was 18. My step-dad is a pretty nice guy, and I also have a step-brother and step-sister (my step-sister is also, amusingly, almost the exact same age as my adoptive sister and chosen sister).

My family situation is a bit of a tangled mess to explain but it all makes perfect sense to me!

When I refer to "my family" I am almost always referring to my Found Family. I don't expect I will make such references often though.

Stardew Valley; My Beloved

A special interest of mine since its release! My first chronically cosy blog is about Stardew Valley. It is mostly a love letter to this game. How much it means to me. The happiness and cosiness it brings. SDV has gotten me through so much. 

This game may have been released over 8 years ago back in Feb 2016. However, over the years, developer Concerned Ape has brought us quite a few free updates. Bringing more quality of life, more end-game content and more. A low purchase cost and free updates? Concerned Ape massively sets the standard for the games industry. I will forever love indie games. 

Did you even play Stardew Valley if you didn't put the shorts in the soup?

After being over 200 hours on switch and 700 hours on steam, I like to consider myself quite the seasoned SDV player. As it has become one of my biggest autistic special interests, my mind has become a walking wiki. I recently dived into Stardew Valley Expanded mod which was super exciting to play. I definitely recommend checking that out if you are a SDV lover and play on PC/Steam Deck! 

I recently put to bed my beach farm which ended up being a perfection run of which I married Emily. Ahh, I love her. She has a golden heart. 

I haven’t started the new chicken starter farm though! I am patiently waiting for switch update release so I can enjoy the new update there. Unless someone wants to get me a steam deck, please steam, hit me up. I desperately need a steam deck in my life. Also, my next run, I will be marrying Sam. He doesn’t get the love and appreciation he deserves and he is an angel. 

Speaking of the recent update, hello?? XP books, book buffs, the mastery levels?! The upgraded furnace?? AHHH. There was so much welcomed quality of life and boosts to end game content. The racoon family is SO CUTE. I love the festival in Calico Desert too. The new furniture tables, the trinkets, dehydrator, fish smoker, extra house space, just so many cool new features that enhances the game. Hot tip, turn your quarry into a tapper and moss combi farm! 

I could speak about this game all day, I just love it so much. Relaxing winter days re-arranging the farm ready for the start of a new year. Trying to get that community centre done in year one. Creating the craziest ancient fruit wine farm on Ginger Island. Getting to 100 in Skullcavern with no stairs. The Marnie and Lewis scandals. The excitement of waking up to a giant crop, or multiple! The game is just full of so many satisfying, wholesome and funny moments that never get old, at least for me anyway! 

However, the game is absolutely not immune to critism. Nothing is perfect and things can always improve! As a non-binary person one of my biggest wishes is for a pronoun update. I would also love to see some more new characters with more diversity. I also wish we could give Marlon gifts and get friendship with him! I would also really love to see Marnie and Lewis actually marry, and be open about their relationship further into the game when you learn of their secrets. More roommate options similar to Krobus would be cool too! I also wish for a special item or book that allows to see daily luck without tuning into the TV. I really hope Concerned Ape continues to bring us updates, no matter the wait, it is always worth waiting for.

No real people. This is kind of a given, since we’re talking about video games here, but if a character is based on a real person, do not submit them.

hello! my name is Ezra, also known as betwixt beasts. I'm in my early thirties, acespec, bisexual, and non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns. I'm a college student and aspiring educator, and I have adhd, depression, chronic pain, and anxiety. most, if not all, of the fiction that I write is romantic. and it's a rare day that I write something that doesn't involve some level of fantasy or sci-fi. oh, and it's all very queer. at the moment I'm posting a bit on wattpad, but I also would like to eventually use p*treon, and perhaps other publishing methods, in the future.

my hope is to make some new friends, find more to read, and also learn more about writing here on tumblr. and maybe promote my own work a little, as well!

Our Family

I put my car in park outside of Maverick's house. I looked up to the windows, noticing a flash run across the one closest to the front door.

Amelia stumbled out of the door and ran down the driveway to appear on the off side of my car. I chuckled and stood up from my seat. I shut the door and walked around to the sidewalk where Amelia was.

"Hey Amelia." I greeted her. She looked up at me with a wide smile.

"Bradley told me he asked you on a date." She said eagerly. I felt my face heat up from embarrassment. I rubbed the back of my neck and looked up at the house.

"Yes he did."

"How's he do it?" She asked, eager to hear every detail I could say. I chuckled and began to head up to the house.

"Well we got takeout and then he drove us to the beach where we watched the sunset and then he asked."

Amelia had a large smirk on her face as she walked. "I didn't know he had it in him to ask a girl out."

We both shared a laugh as we approached the door to the house. "You didn't tell Pete, did you?" I asked her, hoping that wouldn't be a topic of conversation during dinner.

"Nope. Brad told me not to. Your secret is safe with me as long as you keep me updated." I laughed at her eagerness.

"I'm certain one of us will."

Our conversation was interrupted by Penny opening the door and greeting us with a smile. It baffled me how beautiful she was. Truly, she was effortlessly beautiful. "Come on In!" She invited us, stepping to the side  to make room.

I walked into the doorway and looked around the home. I took in the sights, there was some papers and books scattered on the kitchen table. Someone was doing paperwork or homework.

"Pete! Y/n's here!" Penny yelled up the stairs. I could hear thumping from the ceiling and soon that thumping continued down the stairs. Maverick appeared from around the corner wearing a casual T-shirt and some deep blue jeans. He smiled at me, walking to the bowl of keys by the door.

"Do you know how to drive a motorcycle?" He asked while fishing for keys in the bowl. 

I nodded. "I Haven't ridden in a while though." I admitted. While I was talking Maverick had moved to the coat closet next to the door and dug out two motorcycle helmets. He smiled and handed me the smaller one.

I internally thanked myself for wearing a pair of leggings instead of dressing up. We made our way to the garage and that's where he uncovered two motorcycles that were under a sheet.

"I've had this one since I was in Top Gun." He commented, feeling the seat of the older looking bike. I walked over, running my fingers over the smooth material. I smirked as I noticed some gray dust gathered on my fingers.

"She's due for a cleaning." I teased. Maverick frowned, slightly offended by my statement. "I'm working on it. She's not been out in a minute." He reciprocated my teasing back with a lighthearted tone.

We loaded up onto the bikes and started them up. The roaring of the engines echoed in the garage and I followed mavericks lead down the driveway. We took mostly back roads through town. That way we were able to (safely) play some games, race each other a little bit. My heart thumped with adrenaline as I had not ridden a bike in a long time. I forgot how much fun it was.

We rumbled up to the parking lot of an older style diner that had obviously been revamped. Maverick told me to leave my helmet clipped onto the bike, people at the base tended to be pretty honest individuals.

Maverick opened the door for me, it had a very 50's feel to it with a round circular bar in the center of the diner. A waitress seated us quickly by a window. An orange glow seeped through the slits in the windows blinds. Annoyingly they were right across our eyes but the illuminated Mavericks piercing blue eyes. He gave me a toothless smile, the smile lines around his eyes and mouth wrinkling upward.

"This is the diner where I met your mother at." He said, looking fondly around the restaurant. He pointed over to a space at the bar. "Right over there, where the man in blue is sitting."

My eyes followed his finger over to the bar and I smiled. I looked at the larger man with the bright blue shirt on and imagined my mother, her blonde hair and dazzling smile. The red lipstick that she always wore, it was like she was sitting there with us.

"Of course the diner looked nothing like this. This place was my Hard Deck. All the pilots came here to drink." Maverick explained. I tried to imagine it how it was, how it might have been during that time. It was hard to see past the checkers and bright red booths.

I ordered my favorite drink, as I was looking at the draft beer list I noticed they had the same beer Bradley had given me that night on the beach. I ordered one of those as well. Maverick chuckled. "I think that's the one Bradley gets too."

I hummed in response, handing my menus back to the waitress as I ordered my food. "Yeah, he actually let me try some one night. I recognized the name."

Maverick hummed with a smile on his face, folding his hands underneath his chin as a headrest. "So you two are getting along then, huh?"

"Yeah Um, We are." I was grateful that the waitress had come by with our drinks. I eagerly took it from her and took a big, long drink. I was conflicted, I wanted to bring up the date with Rooster, to ask him if it was a good idea. On the other hand, he might forbid it.

"That's great. I'd hate for you two to not get along." Maverick took a long drink from his beer bottle before he set it back down. "You're going to be around each other a lot, family events, dinners, outings..." he paused, trailing off his sentence, his eyes following after.

"Sorry. I'm getting way ahead of myself." He looked down at his fingers, fiddling them together.

"No it's okay." I chuckled, reaching across the table to grab his hand. "If the future of our relationship also includes Roo- Bradley, I need to know more about him. Which is partially why I wanted to have dinner."

"To talk about Bradley?"

"No! To talk about your family." I chuckled while shaking my head. Maverick laughed along with me. "Well how about we start with Bradley then. He uh, had a pretty rough start to life with his father, My best friend, being gone all the time and then dying when he was only four. His mother and I were close, we kept in contact for a while. Until he hit later middle school. He never really wanted to talk to me anymore." Maverick paused to take a drink of beer before continuing. 

"He hated me. Last year during our mission was the first time we had met in many many years. I pulled his papers from the naval academy because he wasn't ready. He resented me. But, obviously all is right with the world now."

"How can I.. get to know him better?" I asked. "Is there anything significant we can talk about?"

Maverick thought for a moment, bringing his hand to his chin to think. "Cars, obviously. Bradley loves cars- classics. We had a great time rebuilding a plane, if you want a bonding activity that might be good." He chuckled a bit, seeming to think of a fond memory.

"Bradley can be a little stand-off-ish. He's a sweet kid, just like his dad really, it's just hard to gain his trust. A lots happened."

"Like what?" I jumped on too quickly. "I'm sorry. I just- I feel so left behind. I want to catch up on our family." My half truth half lie brought a smile to mavericks face.

"You said our." He said fondly. I hadn't realized what I said until Maverick mentioned it. It was unintentional of me. I wanted to be a part of mavericks family. I missed my mother dearly, and my step father, but I had so much in common with the people here. I couldn't help but be drawn to them.

"Yeah, our." I reaffirmed my word choice more confidently.

"Well uh, Bradley did have a hard time a few years ago. He told me about this girl in his life. She was a military brat, daughter of a general in the Marines. They had a very rough falling out. That's where he really stopped trusting people. It's not my place to go into detail about it but, I would try to avoid talking about relationships unless Bradley brings it up."

After he finished his sentence our food arrived, cutting our conversation short. I thought about what he had said, letting it simmer in my brain. It gave me hope that Rooster wasn't a complete and total asshole that ditches women on their wedding day.

Our conversations after that were light and fun, he told me all about penny and their relationship. I loved hearing the stories of how they met and reunited. He told me about Amelia, how he thought we would get along great. We were both sassy and stubborn.

We finished our food, sitting in the booth and talking, waiting for the bill. Mavericks phone started ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket and then smiled. "It's Penny." He told me. He acted like a love struck teenager seeing his significant others name on his phone.

"Hey Pen." He chirped happily. His face quickly dropped to concern. "He what?" He announced, astonished. I was confused, narrowing my eyebrows to express that.

Maverick sighed, shaking his head. "Okay. I'll be right there." Maverick hung up the phone and looked up at me.

"It's Bradley. We gotta go." Maverick and I pitched in to throw all the cash we could muster onto the table and quickly made our way outside.

"What happened to rooster?" I questioned, unbuckling my helmet from the bike.

"Penny said he got into it with someone. He's really drunk at the bar." Maverick had spoken like this was a common occurrence. At least, maybe it had happened many times before.

I put the helmet on and followed Maverick to his house. He instructed me to drop the bike in the garage and we would ride on his together. He had informed me that I would need to drive Rooster's car back to his house where we would assess the situation there. This sounded more serious than I thought, causing my heart to beat with anticipation.

We quickly approached the Hard Deck. Maverick turned off the engine and I hopped off the back in the process. We ditched out helmets and picked up a jog towards the door.

Penny looked over at us with an exhausted expression. She dug for something under the bar while maverick asked where he was.

"Out back." She instructed. On her finger was Bradley's keys that she dangled towards me while I approached the bar. I took the key off her finger and smiled. "Thanks penny."

She sighed sadly. "You're welcome y/n. You didn't have to come too."

I shrugged. "I felt like I needed to. It seemed by mavericks reaction this has happened before?"

Penny nodded. "He was doing good for a while, he just doesn't handle his emotions well sometimes. He gets drunk and pisses the wrong people off." She trailed off as the back door bell rang. Rooster's arm was slung around mavericks shoulder as she stumbled into the room.

I walked over to him and took place on the other side of Rooster. He reeked of beer and I could see a few blood spots on his white undershirt. I looked up at his semi-conscious face and saw his lip busted, causing the source of the bleeding.

We escorted him outside and, with a grunted effort, hauled Rooster into the passenger seat of his car. His head was thrown back and his eyes shut closed. He let out an uncomfortable groan.

"Head back to my house, I'll meet you there." I nodded and then climbed into the drivers seat. The car roaring to life caused Rooster to jump awake, his eyes shooting wide. He looked over at me and was shocked I was there. I gave him a gentle smile while putting the car in reverse.

"Oh no. No no no." Rooster groaned, putting his head in his hands. "I'm sorry I never wanted you to see me like this." Rooster spoke muffled words from his shameful position he assumed.

"It's okay. Let's just get you home." I tried to reassure him as I began to drive off.

"No, I told myself I'd never do this again. I just got so sad-"

"Bradley. It's okay, don't worry about it."

He seemed genuinely upset, like he had this brief moment of lucidity in his drunken state. He seemed genuinely remorseful, ashamed of his actions. I reached my hand over to his and grabbed it, giving him a squeeze. "Just lay your head back." I advised him.

Rooster took my hand and laced his warm, sweaty hand into mine and gave it a squeeze. His head was now thrown back into the semi-conscious state he was in before.

Quickly we approached Mavericks house and I pulled up into the driveway. We worked together to carry a stumbling Rooster into the house. Maverick flipped the lights on and left me to deal with all of Roosters dead weight. I heaved him over to the couch and plopped him down.

"I'll get a towel." Maverick announced, receding into the kitchen. I helped Rooster get his shirt off so I could clean the blood off of it.

"Taking my shirt off already?" He hummed, a lazy smirk plastered on his face. "Yeah your dumbass got blood on it. I gotta wash it." I teased him and tapped him gently on the chest.

Rooster took my hand and gently tapped the back flat of my hand. "You're so thoughtful, wolf." He hummed again.

"No flirting with my daughter, Bradshaw." Mavericks tone was lighthearted and playful, but still stern.

"Pft, what? I would never!" Rooster waved his hand dismissively at Maverick and the looked at me and gave me an exaggerated wink. It was painfully obvious. I facepalmed, shaking my head in the process.

"The day you don't flirt with a woman will be the day I die." Maverick joked, pressing the towel into Roosters lip. He hissed in pain and pushed Maverick away. "Be gentle!" He insisted.

"I'll do it." I offered, taking a step forward to take the towel from Maverick.

"Thank you. I need to get something ready for him to sleep on." Maverick then disappeared from the room. I sat next to Rooster and used the warm, wet towel to clean up the blood that had dripped down his chin.

"Are you okay?" I asked, gently pressing the cloth onto the corner of his mouth. Rooster sighed. "Yeah, I'm okay. I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry?"

I could see the emotions rise up to his eyes as they glazed over. His voice tightened with emotion. "I thought I was done with this, I thought I'd overcome it. I don't know, I was hoping I'd get to tell you about this before you saw it."

"What is this? Has it happened before?" I asked him, keeping my demeanor calm and open so he would talk.

"It's how I handled my PTSD for a while. My therapy has been going really good recently. Tonight was just a really rough night." I saw a single tear escape his eye and run down his face. Instinctively I pulled him into a hug. His body flopped over on me. He buried his head into the nape of my neck, hands slowly creeping across my back.

I wrapped my arms around his bare torso, placing my head facing towards the center of the room. "Thank you." He muttered into my skin. I gave him a squeeze in response.

Maverick came around the corner and locked eyes with me. They softened, his expression growing into fondness. "Alright Brad, time for you to sleep."

Rooster sniffled his nose and quickly pushed off of me. "Okay." He complied as he plopped back down onto the couch. Maverick threw a pillow and a blanket on top of him with a chuckle.

"I'll walk you out." Maverick offered. I nodded with a smile, following him out the front door and back down to my car.

"Thank you for the dinner. I had a great time." I said appreciatively.

"You're welcome. Any time, I'm always here." Maverick replied as he opened the door to my car and waited for me to get in.

"Drive safe." "I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked.

Maverick nodded. "You bet."

Abilities: Able to shapeshift into a humanoid form and back into their true form, travel at 30 km/h within the troposphere as well as summon lightning bolts within a 10 m radius. Is extremely proficient with swords to combat weakness

In their true form, they're invulnerable to most attacks due to being made out of lightning, and capable of travelling at 270 km/h within the troposphere. Able to summon lightning bolts within a 10 km radius and torrential downpours. Due to inability to wield weapons in true form, they rely on tackling opponents and shocking them to death

Background: Growing up in the South Asanokian skies, Hisui was constantly reminded that the tengus were trying to push raijūs out of the skies, and that raijūs were the rightful rulers of the skies. This mindset didn't sit right with Hisui, but they did what was expected of them and avoided contact with tengus

When they turned 30, they embarked on the sacred raijū-animal influence journey to gain their true form. Per the requirement, they had to travel in a certain direction until they ran out of energy, which they did and eventually ended up in Zarov, where they encountered a tiger that was more interested in playing with the sparks Hisui emitted than hunting them

What left an impression on the raijū was when they flew across Asanoku, they noticed that the tengus and raijūs in Northern Asanoku were able to co-exist without any altercations breaking out, the complete opposite of the south. Even so, they didn't point this out to the other raijūs in the south out of fear that they would attempt to kill them

When they were 71, a group of tengus ambushed them and the attack resulted in them descending into human society in search for medical aid. However, the humans reacted badly to Hisui's presence and attempted to kill them which forced the raijū to go into hiding

Due to the sparks appearing near their wounds, this attracted Chiaki's attention as they ended up near her hiding spot. Out of fear that the raijū's presence will alert humans to her hiding spot, she reluctantly brought them back to where she was hiding and nursed them back to health. During this period, they interacted with each other, with Chiaki learning about the tengu-raijū conflict and Hisui learning about illegal fox trades

Eventually, the raijū fully recovered which prompted Chiaki to chase them out of her hiding spot. The raijū was fascinated by Chiaki as regardless of the reason, she had risked her life to save them and such self-sacrificing behaviour was frowned upon amongst their community. Interested in learning more about the world, they decided to travel across Ixsa'a, spending over three centuries before returning to Asanoku to settle down

Hisui hoped that the attitudes of the human Southern Asanokians changed towards non-humans after 300 years, and decided to live on land so as to better integrate into human society. While scoping out an abandoned residence, she met Chiaki once more. The latter proposed to look out for each other whenever one of them was in crisis, with the raijū agreeing immediately due to the idea of a friend appealing to them

Overtime, they had discovered that they actually liked Chiaki in a romantic manner, and hinted it as such to the fox spirit. Initially she waved it off, believing that the raijū was mistaking gratitude for affection. Eventually, the fox spirit agreed to enter a relationship with Hisui after realising that as much as she hated to admit, their presence was comforting

At 502 years old, they had caused a distraction to allow the fox spirit to escape from the angry humans living in South Asanoku, which was easy as all they had to do was to direct lightning at random directions. Once they were spooked, Hisui spent two years finding Chiaki, eventually locating her in a famed swordsmith's residence. Learning that they had nowhere to live and sensing that the raijū and fox spirit were closer than they let on, the swordsmith invited Hisui to live with them, much to their delight

On 26 Tierna 1503, Chiaki was sent out by the swordsmith as he wanted to prepare a surprise for her birthday. Hisui initially wanted to stay back to help the swordsmith to prepare, but was also sent out by him as he wanted to keep it a surprise from the raijū too. Disappointed that they couldn't get to have a sneak peek, they visited the market in hopes of finding something appropriate to express their gratitude towards the swordsmith for hiding Chiaki

What unnerved them was the whispers of an ambush floating around the market, and after the swordsmith's name was mentioned in the same sentence as the ambush, Hisui was horrified to learn that the residents was planning to kill him as he hid Chiaki from them. With this knowledge in mind, they immediately turned to return but was blocked by some of the residents, who were aware of the raijū's presence

Desperate, they destroyed the entire market in their escape back home. They were heartbroken to discover that not only had the swordsmith died, Chiaki was the first one to discover the body. She then swore to hunt his murderers down and kill them in the exact brutal way they did to the swordsmith, with Hisui not stopping the fox spirit as deep down, they would've electrocuted them should they ever cross paths

With the murderers soon slain at the hands of the fox spirit, Chiaki decided to eliminate the illegal fox trade by indiscriminately murdering all fox poachers. Hisui felt that she was going too far, and tried to persuade her to at least spare those who only engaged in the illegal fox trade to feed their families. She refused, highlighting that her kind had to die just for their survival. Out of fear for the fox spirit's hatred towards humanity, they decided to follow her in the hopes of saving some of them

After a year of indiscriminate murder and Hisui secretly sparing some of their lives out of pity, the raijū was alarmed to learn that the fox spirit planned to engage in mass killing of all Southern Asanokians and regretted letting her know that the humans wanted her dead for what she had done to the fox poachers

With two natural disasters threatening to wipe out both Chiaki and the residents, the Southern Asanokians formed an alliance with Western and Central Asanoku to hunt the fox spirit down. Despite the raijū's steadfast belief that Chiaki was going down on a path of no return, they couldn't bear to leave her alone to the humans' mercy and helped to defend the fox spirit

Eventually when Hisui was 724 years old, most humans stopped hunting Chiaki which gave them the peace that they so wanted to have with the fox spirit. On a rainy day five years later, Hayato appeared in the residence that they were living in. While Chiaki was wary towards him, the raijū was curious that the tengu was not only alone, but showed a genuine friendliness towards the raijū, the complete opposite of what they were taught in their community

Hisui then convinced Chiaki to let Hayato stay with them until the rain let up, the latter reluctantly agreeing. Once the rain let up, the tengu kept his promise and left South Asanoku, which solidified Hisui's impression of him, and that tengus were not necessarily the selfish traitors their community had made said species out to be

They then expressed concern for Hayato to Chiaki, for North Asanoku, where tengus and raijūs were famously known to co-exist without bloodshed, were starting to express anti-sentiments about each other. Amused by the conflict, Chiaki offhandedly commented that both species were acting like the humans that they both saw as lower beings, which made Hisui upset

In 1728, the Tengu-Raijū War broke out and news reached South Asanoku. Chiaki then asked if Hisui would be participating in the war, with the latter revealing that they were forced to enlist, but the raijū refused to do so and even retaliated by eliminating key figures, branding them a traitor as a result

Throughout the war, they monitored news about it as Hisui feared that the war might spill over to the humans, who would then resume the hunt for Chiaki. When Hisui was 787, news that a peace treaty that would end the war was announced. Hoping to witness the start of an uneasy peace between the two species once more, the raijū attended the signing only to witness a key figure in the tengu community killing a key raijū figure, which prompted the attending raijūs to grievously wound the tengu

Seeing this, Hisui secretly smuggled the tengu out of the event and brought him back to their residence, where both them and Chiaki nursed him back to health. Hayato then spent the next decade gathering intelligence on both sides, eventually calling for another peace treaty three years later by using his friendship with Hisui as evidence that tengus and raijūs can co-exist. While distrust remained, both sides agreed to the conditions in the treaty, much to Hisui's relief

Years later, the Asanokian Civil War started much to the trio's shock, with Hisui blaming themselves as they had stopped gathering intelligence on the humans after they were left alone over a century ago. While Chiaki used the war to indiscriminately kill the humans, and Hayato tried to negotiate peace between humans and non-humans, Hisui merely wished for peace and decided to stay out of the war entirely, providing medical services for those who desperately needed it

With Hayato failing to negotiate peace between both sides, Chiaki offered her life in exchange for the non-humans' freedom. This devastated Hisui as they knew that the humans would execute her without a single thought, and tried to persuade the fox spirit otherwise but failed. The humans agreed to Chiaki's offer, and the war soon came to an end

Hisui then spent two months trying to break the fox spirit out of prison, but failed as they refused to hurt any more humans in their attempts. Guilt-stricken, they travelled to Zarov and started to work in a tavern, where they stayed for 51 years before moving to Tanasuq after whispers of Hisui's relationship with Chiaki reached Zarov

In Alstas 1899, they had encountered a polar bear spirit, who was surprised by the raijū's presence due to the fact that raijūs were rarely seen outside of Asanoku, let alone in the freezing temperatures of Tanasuq

After they shared their life story to the polar bear spirit, who the former reasoned that they could easily take on a polar bear spirit that didn't look above 500, the polar bear spirit then shared that he heard from an acquaintance who practiced arcane magic, that his teacher was currently working at an inclusive hotel in East Wulfenz, and that Hisui might be able to find some semblance of peace at said hotel

With this knowledge as well as the hope that being legitimately employed would help them in breaking Chiaki free from prison, Hisui travelled to the hotel and asked if there were any open positions they could fill there. Jackson and Hana replied that they didn't have any, but Ilias intervened, citing that some of his army requested lesser hours as they were tired. The lich went on to explain that he could feel that his army was getting tired of working tirelessly without day offs even though they were merely souls inhabiting their skeletons

Ilias then welcomed Hisui onboard and after learning of their time working in the Zarovian tavern, he insisted that the raijū should work in the hotel’s restaurant and that he overheard Nasir complaining about the slow service. Seeing no reason to object, the dullahan agreed to employ the raijū, with the latter still holding onto hope that one day, they would be able to free Chiaki from the death penalty
