one trend i noticed in perusal is the addition of the action button, a non-flipper button used to interact with the screen or the board. bad, i think.

great advancements have been made in pursuit of media-partnered intellectual properties but i feel like we are slowly forgetting to integrate those inventions back into the unbranded machines that raised us. second-story boards, invisible path options, full machine haptics, intentional knife-edge locks removable by intentional micromovements triggered around the board by flippers? good. john wick chapter 3 pinball? bad.

jaws? thin ice. guardians of the galaxy? bad. original trilogy lord of the rings? allowed, especially because it seems it exclusively uses the most tender samwise-mr.frodo dialogue. good.

mostly i will stick with my medieval castle siege themed loosely around various nondeadly sins spelled coolstyle with a tactile drawbridge and catapult mechanic.

You're not supposed to take it if you have a "history of irregular heart beat", which I think is why my GI doc didn't like it. But the articles I've seen are focused on Long QT and other arrhythmias that are well known to cause sudden death, not benign conditions like IST or POTS (benign meaning nondeadly, not harmless). I've had my heart tested and retested several times and I'm not more at risk for dying of heart arrhythmia than anyone else. It's annoying when doctors decide that side effects make a medicine too risky without asking you how you feel about the risks and whether it's worth it for the QOL improvements.

Looking at comments in this silly bike helmet debate does show me how many people are used to painted bicycle gutters without separation from car traffic as the optimistic high end of cycling infrastructure.

I suspect helmets never caught on here (though the authorities are trying) because of a number of factors such as 1) overconfidence due to riding a bike - often alone - since being a preteen if not a toddler, to the point it’s second nature 2) most trips being short and a part of other activities such as riding two-three streets over to the local shop or public transport, rather than being classified as a separate category of activity like a sport, like “jogging” is different from walking. It strikes me that North-Americans often classify it more like a sport and I’ve heard multiple cycling advocates talk about the way this is a hurdle as cycling is dismissed by car drivers as a leisure activity rather than legitimate means of transport 3) the benefits of a helmet are seen as rather marginal because the streets are already pretty safe here (car fatalities occur at one tenth the rate they do in the US for example) because a) since the 70s Dutch street design has tried its best to physically separate bikes from the biggest danger on the road (cars) through segregated bike lanes, curbs, barriers and foliage in between. According to design guides mixing is only allowed in places where cars drive very slowly (30km/h, or about 19mph) and the volume of traffic is very low b) city design routes cars and bikes through different routes through the city to common destinations (the most direct route for a cyclist might be a straight shot through a residential neighborhood while the cars are routed along the highway around the city) to avoid them coming into conflict with each other. This is called “ontvlechten”, meaning ‘to disentangle’ c) most drivers are not overtly and actively hostile to cyclists. Almost all of them cycle too, so they tend to be aware and deferential to cyclists because they know what it’s like to be outside their steel cage.

Because of this, the hassle of using a helmet is likely seen as not really worth it, because the context doesn’t necessitate it as much. Here’s some typical Dutch street design.

Walking down the stairs, she then moved to check on Caillen. Sliding open the bedroom door, Elena looked around. Both Herja and Oliver were accounted for but Caillen, the most important one out of the three of them, was gone.

Reaching for her mobile in her back pocket, she checked to see if Nate had texted her alerting her that Caillen was with him but found nothing. Walking further inside, she noticed that the lioness nor piglet had yet to move.  Rushing over to their sides, she checked for a pulse on both. Finding steady ones, relief immediately washed over her.  Just as she began inspecting both she noticed an odd scent in the air. It was coming from Herja. The Medical Reports Are In

  So had my endoscopy and colonoscopy today and I’m happy to report I’m not going to die.  Yay!

  Seems the cause of my misery was IBS (a nondeadly incurable pain in the ass) and a bunch of internal hemorrhoids in my colon, most likely caused by a combination of my IBS and stress.  The doctor did say there was some strange redness on the tissue in my stomach and colon that he will do a biopsy on, but he’s not expecting anything to come of it.  

 So as is the doctor thinks the meds he prescribed will help heal the internal hemorrhoids and help me manage the pain and misery that comes with my IBS.  So thank God it’s not Chron’s Disease or Cancer.  That’s a huge relief off my back.
