One time Darry gave Ponyboy a black eye.

It was a complete accident. Darry was in the kitchen doing dishes and Ponyboy snuck up behind him as he finished putting a plate away, and (mostly due to their height difference) just absolutely elbowed him right in the face.

It got really dark and swollen, so the gang obviously noticed, and when they asked what happened, Ponyboy was like "Oh, Darry did it, 😔" and gave no further context, so Darry had to quickly explain to them that it was an accident and he did not in fact left hook his little brother in the face.

I think the most beautiful thing about writing of Howl and Sophie's pair is that they are written as people before being written as a pair. Let me explain this very quick.

The thing about book Sophie and Howl is that they are not really fully fitting into any "classic" romantic trope. They are not exactly enemies to lovers, as their angry chats are definitely cannot be considered a life or death battle, they are not rivals to lovers because the only aspect of rivalry between them is the cleaningness of Howl's room. They are not friends to lovers, as their relationship just doesn't fit into "friendship" structure at the very start, nor they are roomates (yes, they live in the same house but that's not the core aspect of their relationships). Of course, you can go on and fit the name of the trope you found specifically for them, but that's the thing.

They simply cannot be processed through a pairings lenses only, in order to understand how they act in relationship you need to analyse them separately, as a characters first of all. Cause that's what the book itself does!

Sure, it doesn't have a whole lot of romance instead, but it gives us time to learn and observe the life of incredibly written, alive characters, understand them as personalities first of all, while slowly immersing the dynamic between two characters (in this case, Howl and Sophie) into work. They are written as personalities, both being fully separated and interviewing, changing eachother's point of view.

It's difficult to find a trope for them. They're are not a trope. They are Howl and Sophie, and that's probably the only way their dynamic can be properly described. Just as real people, they are not really fitting into the boxes of linial character progression, but go way deeper into being complex, filled with little differences and moments only people with their personality can have in romantic (or any different) kind of interaction. They're imperfect, and silly, and multidimensional and the reader knows them well enough to imagine them interacting way beyond of what the book says to them.

They are being people before being a ship, a pair of a trope — and that's why they work so perfectly charming in the end.

Howl and Sophie are unique in being themselves.

Aaron's warm, wet hands grip his face, the smell of copper filling Robert's nose as he's pulled to look at him. Tears stain both their faces. It had been so violent.

"No," Aaron insists, holding Robert's face so hard it almost hurts, terrified that if he lets go Robert will slip through his fingers like sand. "I can't lose you again. They'll take you from me. I did this. Me."

"Aaron…" Robert's lip trembles, the once so cocky and confident man reduced to a trembling mess, having just been almost on the receiving end of one of his brother's needles, until Aaron had come in to save him. "I can't lose you."

"You won't," Aaron exhales, craning up and pressing his mouth to Robert's. His Robert. How could he have been so blind? He peppers kisses, desperate ones, across Robert's freckled cheeks, tastes John's blood from his hands on Robert's skin. "It's you and me, always has been." "I love you," Robert whispers, face buried in the crook of Aaron's neck, sweat and mud and blood as Aaron holds him. Despite everything, Robert finally feels safe. Six long years and then some.

Everlasting, no matter what. Katie. John. They're nothing. Nobody.

It's just them.

I think one of the worst things about depression is honestly that people are so incredibly kind, or they can be so incredibly kind and generous, but...you still have depression. It's not their fault, and you feel worse that you can't honour them the way they deserve.

Anyway, I mean there are many 'worst things' about depression, but seeing the kindness of folks and not having the spoons to properly acknowledge them or *feel* that kindness is a whole thing.

Finality’s Fault Chapter 6 just dropped! In which Tango makes a crucial decision against Cub and Etho’s better judgment, while Jimmy finds some pieces of the past.

Do you ever think about the fact that the ONE time Sanji let himself be comfortable and enjoy dresses and makeup with cigarettes, Ace died and Luffy almost died all alone and so far away.
