Oh oh... Deadly Life warnings are up... you know what that means! We're about to lose a character! Possibly two given what chapter we're on! Well, they say that grief shared is grief halved, so let's try to deal with what's about to happen together, shall we?

(Please ignore that this is extremely late for my usual standards. Uni isn't necessarily kicking my ass, but it sure is keeping me busy :p)

"Despite some threats, everyone has reunited once again to eat breakfast together. Who’s gonna kick off the debate today?" I'm surprised everyone's still here, but hey, it's more drama so it's fine by me!

"Taylor: Yeah, like, there’s been a lot of discussion and all that, but not much has been happening, y’know?" It is a fun observation. Everyone's at each other's throats already, so we really don't need much of a motive breathing down their necks this time around huh?

"Ellis: If anyone wants to make something happen with me, hit me up, okay?

Taylor: Seems like Ellis is still normal, too…" True! She's still never missing one!

"Davis: Yeah. This is… nice. I really missed–

Kennedy: No talking.

Aidan: Okay, that’s it." And there's the drama! xD Also love how Aidan jumps in defense of Davis more than he's been defending himself the whole time. I know that's probably more because Kennnedy crossed a line not even letting them talk as opposed to just ignoring them, but that doesn't fit the Shipping Agenda so we ignore it :v

Plus, dumbass, the reason why brass knuckles go around all your knuckles is because rings can break your fingers. Unless your punch is too weak to actually hurt yourself, either." And you just know this? I guess it's not the most obscure of knowledge, though it is funny we're only bringing it up a while after the talent show lol. I knew those rings would come back up >:D

"The loud sound of a slap rings throughout the Buffet. However, instead of Aidan, the intended recipient, Davis is the one cupping his cheek, having stepped between Aidan and Kennedy. There’s a slight gash in his face– damage from Kennedy’s ring accenting their backhand." Oh wow we're getting physical. Shit is going down! Then again, something like this was probably bound to happen when Kennedy dived deep enough into his confirmation bias and stubbornness.

"Vivi: …Davis, are you okay? Here, I’ll take you to the Infirmary and get you bandaged up." If no one else got me, I know Vivi Mitchell got me. How is the Mad Doctor in the top five most sane people here? That's how you know something's gone horribly wrong lmao.

"Aidan: If you hurt him again, you’re dead." Holy shit is Aidan... caring about something??? How has Kennedy fucked up enough to get Jeff and Aidan to confront them??? Truly iconic of Kennedy I think. In other news, the Aidan-Davis shippers rejoice! As usual this chapter lmao.

"Kennedy: See? A direct threat to me, and defense of his traitor. This is why I’ve suspected Aidan all along…" Holy fucking hell he's insane. Just so we're clear, I'm like 90% sure Kennedy's gonna be dead by the end of this part, so I'm really enjoying that we get to see her crash out to this degree before she leaves us forever :,D

"Has Kennedy really been wearing his rings wrong the entire time? That’s hilarious. In a sad way." It is really funny, agreed :p

"Vivi: The good news is, the wound isn’t very deep, so it should be fully healed in a couple days. Nothing long-term, even cosmetically." I mean yeah, it's just like a little cut, right? I was under the impression it would be obvious that this wouldn't be a serious injury lol.

"Vivi: Yeah… I feel you there. I probably should’ve stepped in earlier. I know Kennedy has a pretty short fuse, but I didn’t expect them to actually, like, hit someone, y’know? I figured it’d probably be better to just let him get it out of his system, but…" I feel bad for her, though. They really befriended the biggest crashout in the building huh?

"Vivi: I don’t know if we can convince Kennedy to drop it. But, it’s possible that if we can get literally everyone else on the same page, they might be forced to.

Davis: Did you have something in mind?

Vivi: Well, I’m kind of Kennedy’s second in command, and you and Aidan are a pair. Even if Kennedy and Aidan hate each other, we can be pro-peace, right?

Davis: Hm… I definitely could see it working. I feel like a lot of people want all of this to be over with." Hell yeah! Right hand person alliance! I'm loving it!

"Ellis: I’m definitely pro-peace. And I have lots of experience being a third in all sorts of relationships." Ellis. Maybe not the time xD

"…Actually, I kinda forgot to check out the Karaoke Room after I investigated it." Yeah let's go karaoke-ing!!!!

"Noah: Yeah. I’m sure he still would’ve been fine with a scar or something, given his weird “everyone is attracted to me” power thing, but I’m glad he didn’t get more hurt." Pfft- Davis' talent doesn't come up too often but it is incredibly silly and funny lol.

"Noah and Vanessa just want the fewest people to get hurt. It’s not that they actually believe strongly in Kennedy’s argument." The grieving buddies... hope they start doing better soon. Though, I guess that can be said about everyone, huh?

"Noah: This whole feud has gone way too far… 

Ellis: Do you guys think you’re going to say anything?

Noah: …Maybe? Depending on how it goes?

Vanessa: Yeah, I mean, if there’s a chance to, that’d be okay. Though, if Kennedy’s wrong, it’s kind of hard, ‘cause… if it’s not Aidan and Davis, who is it?

Though with how much focus we're putting on "what's going to happen tomorrow", I'm gonna guess at least one of the parties involved isn't going to live to see it lol.

"Noah and Vanessa throw out some suggestions, which I obviously nail before sitting back down." How good do we actually think Ellis is at singing? My headcanon's gonna be that he's actually extremely average because I find that funniest.

"Similarly to last night, I sit with Jeff and Taylor, but this time, Harper joins our crew." This is a very peculiar group that's formed in the fallout of Kennedy's crashout lmao.

"Harper: Apologies for bringing up a serious matter, but… have you all seen the new motive announcement?" Ah. Well. Shit! I mean, I imagine it'll be like the CH1 situation, where the announcement comes before the murder, but the actual motive waits until after, just seeing the time we have left before Deadly Life lol.

"Taylor: I think it’s pretty recent. But, it’s a weird and specific one. It says that someone has to kill by the day after tomorrow’s breakfast or it’ll happen. But, if someone does kill, it’ll go away." Oh! Interesting... That's quite different from CH1 actually. I almost wonder if one of the participants put it there as part of a murder plot, instead of it being placed by Monoquin. I don't know for what purpose, but I'll keep it in mind, I guess.

"Harper: The motive with the loved ones was announced before a murder and carried over until afterwards." Yeah that lmao.

"Harper: It’s also possible… I hope this isn’t the case, but Monoquin hasn’t ever indicated that he won’t release two motives at a time, correct?" Yeah that's entirely within his power lol. The "one motive a murder" thing is more a dangan convention than an actual rule most of the time :p

"Taylor: Yeah, but it really does make you wonder if there’s any winning against them. Say what you will about Kennedy’s tactics, but at least it was a plan." I mean, I've seen better plans is all I'll say.

[FTE End] Well, they were fun while they lasted! Super glad accirax chose Mark for this, they were really awesome and made me very happy :) Then again, I imagine these things would have been peak no matter what character got chosen, so :p

"Aidan… did he really mean what he said when threatening to kill Kennedy if she hurt Davis again? Given that it seems like Aidan was willing to die, it could make sense if he was willing to kill. But, doing so as a public declaration makes things weird. Like, if Kennedy did hurt Davis, and then Aidan killed Kennedy, we’d all instantly guess that Aidan was the killer, right? Would he be willing to die for that?" We really said "enough of that fluffy shit, let's talk murder" lol. These are pretty interesting questions, but kinda hard to answer without more insight on Aidan :v

Half of me is expecting Aidan to just be hanging out with a corpse there again, trying to use the BDA to clear Davis. The other half is expecting this message to not have been sent by Aidan at all and that we're about to find his corpse. The other half of me is hoping nothing's gone wrong yet. The final half of me is wondering what kind of math I'm doing to have so many halves.

Well, I'm emotionally destroyed! The only way to recover is to play some prediction game bingo!!!

First, a slight correction. Apparently, a mastermind guess doubles as a killer guess, meaning me and bronze-ocs were tied at 11 points instead of 13 as I said the last time I checked this board. Jonas' score (9) and accirax's score (15) remain unaffected.

But now, we have an update, because Vivi's dead! And I predicted she'd survive! Frankly, I knew that was a pretty out there guess even when I made it, and them dying in CH3 would have been my second guess (doctors don't usually make it past this chapter I'm afraid). But I was intrigued by her Deal, so I wanted to hope. Alas, that Hope caused me to gain 3 chapter points, and I'm pretty sure "survivor" is a different role from "victim", so I also have 2 role points and I go to 16. I blame Naegi for this >:v

That means I am now tied for last with accirax, whose CH2 victim guess for Vivi nets her only one chapter point and puts her up to 16 as well. I told you she'd come back, she's on a pretty good streak!

Our front-runner coming into this chapter, Jonas, was also close with a CH2 death prediction, but they guessed Vivi as a killer, netting them 1 chapter point and 2 role points. That puts them up to 12!

And finally, bronze-ocs' guess is notable for a few reasons.

For one, it's the first time me and bronze-ocs have had a different guess! The streak only lasted for 4 deaths, which is still quite a bit! That said, it has not outlasted my personal streak of being tied with someone for 5 deaths. Bronze on the first four, and now accirax for the fifth. I refuse to be lonely apparently xD

For two, we have here the first perfect guess! Indeed, bronze predicted Vivi as a CH3 victim, meaning bronze's points remain at 11, and they take the front-runner spot from Jonas! Good job, bronze-ocs!

Will bronze maintain their newly gained lead? Will Jonas be able to retake it? Will the accirax comeback continue? And will I ever manage to have an unique, non-tied score? Find out next death, in DROS!

this panel has quickly become a contender for my favorite of the series so far

large tsukasa bias heads up for this post lol, but mostly marvelling at the narrative and evocative power one panel can have because like. god. this panel is SO good. it's so simple!! and yet!!!! even my first time through it made me pause because there's such a palpable energy to it--which, having finished the chapter like 7 times over now haha, i can now say is very strong calm before the storm energy.

i love how this panel functions as like, a thesis statement for tsukasa. he's so perfectly centered, looking head on, his koku joudais on either side of him, the panel cut off right under his stab wound. this panel reads like a portrait.

and the feelings this one single expression evokes!! he's so at ease, and it makes the audience so not at ease.

because we know what "tsukasa" means. we know what tsukasa can do. and the panel immediately proceeding this tells us: akane and the clock keepers don't know what "tsukasa" means. this panel is like a stinger score in a horror movie as a character heads straight into a threat they can't see, while the audience sees the threat plainly but is helpless to warn them.

i especially love this panel coming off of all the chapters we've just gotten. we've seen so many shades and states of tsukasa in the past few chapters, including a very new state:

i've been puzzling over these panels all month, trying to figure out what felt so... distinct? about them, and 109 gave such good context for them. 108 tsukasa feels new because he is a tsukasa we hadn't seen before! this is a tsukasa who lost. but the energy in these 108 panels is really illuminated by the above panel from 109. this is not only a tsukasa who lost, but a sore loser! yet, not actually too deeply bothered; honestly, the best term i can think of here is butt hurt lmao. like. he's not actually scared, he's just sulking. 108 tsukasa looks like he lost a board game, or like he came up against a video game boss he's having trouble defeating--and in this panel from 109, he looks like he just figured out how to win. he's been puzzling over how to get out of this situation, huffy over not getting it immediately when normally he blows through challenges like this, and now he sees his checkmate.

in fact, i think there's a comparison to be made between this 109 panel, and this 92 panel:

the same symmetry, the same smile. centered in the frame, looking head on, undaunted, his koku joudai on either side of him. in his element. putting all his puzzle pieces together, and having fun with it.

i love the line "tsukasa. my name is tsukasa." coming right after such an out of character loss, and right before his return to how we first meet him, how he's been this whole time.

and one last panel comparison, just for the sake of breaking my own heart:

by himself, just tsukasa. not yugi tsukasa, no official title of yorishiro given to himself like the other three get, just tsukasa. this is not the first cage he's had to break himself out of, and he knows he'll find a way out of this like he found his way out of hanako's boundary, even if he has to figure it out himself, just tsukasa.

and he does!--because, like he says: he's tsukasa.

While I agree with you about Lando not being a true challenge for Max this year, sometimes it irks me that people say he “doesn’t have what it takes to become a champion”. Because, Rosberg interlude aside, we’ve had effectively 14 years of back to back generational talents win multiple championships in a row (personal feelings about said drivers aside lmao), people forget that most world champions weren’t like that. Most of them were obviously talented but relied at least a little on good cars and luck, not just sheer skill and willpower.

If you lined up all f1 champions, most of them would be more like Lando than like Max and I feel like people (not you, just in general) need to remember that.

i'll give you ten of those years as generational talents because lewis and max, yes absolutely. sebastian vettel is not a generation talent merely very very talented with a great team behind him (and i do think there's a major difference).

i think there are three major reasons why people are so anti-lando on this site. the first is the british media bias, and recent discourse aside, there is absolutely a massive british bias in the media. they are the standard "international" broadcast option and they have been heavily pushing the narrative that lando was a championship contender long before he actually got anywhere near max in points, and have continued to hype him over all other drivers even when he's made mistakes. people are understandably frustrated with that and turn against it. the british media have also been incredibly critical of max and his driving, often far more than is reasonable, and i think some of their sensationalism etc. is overflow from the lewis-max championship years. ted kravitz and damon hill still going on about 8 times wdc or "stolen championship" is frankly irritating to a lot of people which in turn fuels their dislike of lando, who is their latest golden boy.

then we have the lando fans themselves. i'm not on the right parts of tumblr so i've missed most of them, luckily, but there are some deeply annoying, deeply delusional lando fans out there. the fan who wanted a woman called luisa to change her name because it was the same as lando's ex, some of the people who have turned on andrea stella and oscar piastri, the general youth and k-popification of a lot of lando fans is quite offputting to a lot of people, and because people don't like his fans they're negative about him, often more than is fair.

and lastly we have the "it should have been my guy" fans. the lesteppies. the lecfosi. the chirlies. whatever you want to call them. there is a large part of the f1blr fandom that is bitter that it's lando who's fighting against max rather than charles and so they want to portray him as a weak driver gifted an extraordinarily powerful car with both the media and the fia working to support him, while their guy toils away in an incompetent team that doesn't deserve him with an evil teammate who they fired but are still giving preference to for some reason.

there is some truth at the heart of what they're saying. the mclaren has consistently been the best car across the season, and that's why they're leading the constructors, and lando does have a tendency to make unforced errors (i personally don't think you should be criticising that if you're a fan of the man who did the paul ricard crash but 🤷🏿‍♀️). but there's also a reason that he is in the championship fight, if only distantly. he's been consistent all year, has scored podiums in most races, and has multiple race wins. and sometimes that does win you championships.

i think there are a lot of people in f1blr who are relatively new to racing. their first experiences are either 2021, which was a truly extraordinary year of racing, or afterwards which has been max domination. they have very little reference for what f1 is historically like, and even when they look back to recent history, you have to go back a long way to find a championship fight between more than 2 people or 2 teams. the level of single team dominance in recent f1 is unusual in the grand scheme of things, but it's hard for people to understand that when they have relatively little f1 knowledge.

it feels like f1 has become more of a fandom, and the way some people treat it is more like a tv show or a k-pop fandom. they are more interested in the shipping and character aspects than they are the sporting aspects, and i think that has led to certain perceptions of this season and this championship, and of lando

 I’ve been obsessed with both the Sonic the hedgehog series and Music in general for over a year now, so i figured i could combine those interests in a fun way. I’m gonna describe what kind of music i personally think the characters would like/listen to. And just so you know, this is just my thoughts on it, i’m not saying im right or anything. And while i am trying to match these genuinely, it’s also not something i’m taking fully seriously. I’m just doin this for fun :)

I also suggest looking up some of the terms/artists/genres i use here if you’re not already familiar with them! Might help you understand my reasoning a bit more, and who knows, you might even find a new favourite artist 👀

Oh, and one more thing. While i am of course going to go off of music i’m familiar with, i’ll try to avoid assigning characters music that i like just because its music that i like. That being said, i will of course, be just a tad bit biased. Anyways, time to start with the blue boy himself!!

Sonic

Sonic is somewhat easy. Seeing as how his main thing is standing up against tyranny, i imagine he’d definitely be a fan of punk. At first i thought of pop punk specifically, due to its high energy, but i feel like Sonic would find it a bit too commercial. Same thing with skate punk. I feel like anarcho-punk could be a little more up his alley? Maybe something like chumbawumba.

Oh, and personal bias time: I think he would like King gizzard and the Lizard wizard due to the themes of enviromentalism.

Now, i’m completely split between two different paths here. The first option is EDM. Just overall music that sounds electronic, maybe dance, i dunno. The second option however, is one that i personally prefer: Just like, music with weirdass time signatures and polyrhythms n shit. Math rock, Prog, that kinda stuff. Specific bands i’m thinking about is Tool, King crimson, Black midi, maybe even KGLW (again, personal bias). Tails would think music theory is fucking dope and would be OBSESSED with this kinda music lmao.

Now, this is the rare instance that i feel justified in being biased, because his level themes in sa2 make me believe that knuckles is a hiphop head. Specifically, instrumental hip hop. I think he’d be a big fan of J Dilla’s style of hip hop production in general, with the soft fuzzy feel of songs like The light. Otherwise i feel like he likes some boom bap, like Illmatic.

I honestly feel like Amy is the kinda person who enjoys like, any type of music? Like this gal will listen to some chill folk music and then go directly to hardcore industrial rock lmao. I think her favourite genre is pop though. First artist that pops into mind is Carly rae jepsen, not only because she makes great pop music, but also since her songs are often about love, which i feel fits Amy pretty well. She’d probably like something more off-kilter like art pop too. She LOVES Björk, i feel confident in saying that.

I’ve noticed that this one is quite varied (and if you’re curious, i don’t really mind the whole taylor swift thing, but i also don’t really care for it either), but i want to bring up a genre that i haven’t seen anyone else suggest Shadow being a fan of: Shoegaze. I think he would find the whole noisy, dreamlike, nearly overwhelming feeling of shoegaze calming. I don’t know, there’s just something about Shoegaze that makes me feel like it fits shadow perfectly. Only bands i really know are Slowdive and My bloody valentine, but i still feel confident in my opinion.

I also feel like the idea of him enjoying indie folk (something like the mountain goats) but would not be caught DEAD listening to it is really funny. The day that rouge finds out will not be a happy day for anyone in a ten mile radius.

I feel like Blaze is someone who simply hasn’t been able to listen to a lot of music yet? Her friends (particularly Silver and Amy) have given her a bunch of recommendations, and while she doesn’t have a preference yet, she has enjoyed some of the stuff that they have played.

On the complete contrary to Blaze, Vector is a supreme Music nerd. You name an artist or album, he is at the very least aware of them. He’s the kinda guy who will talk about some super obscure folk album from the 70′s and refer to it as if its some kind of holy grail. It’s great. He would have a vinyl collection, but due to the chaotix’s financial situation, he settles for CDs instead. Again, he enjoys practically anything, but i feel like his favourite genre is progrock. He also remixes music for fun.

The fact you're asking about Jungwon first in this situation tells me all I need to know loool. And yes, I suspect it is exactly what you're thinking.

Honestly, a big part of me doesn't want to get into explaining what I think about Jaywon. I'd like to keep doing what I did when I first discovered jikook, and just keep observing while saving my opinions to myself.

But I don't want to leave you with nothing and since someone else is also curious, I'll talk briefly about the guys.

Enhypen is celebrating their 3rd year anniversary this week actually so I've got recent pictures:

They are all such interesting people but I remain somewhat ambivalent about them because they're still very young, there's a few things about them that make Enhypen a very peculiar team, and it leaves me a bit concerned for them so I don't want to push it.

Jungwon for example, is the second youngest member in the group, and he's the leader. Just on paper that's a recipe for a very unusual dynamic. When you add in the fact he's exceptionally intelligent, emotionally and otherwise, has a bit of an ego, and that teasing is his love language, things get even more odd in fantastic ways.

Jay, too, is someone worth studying in my opinion. I don't want to get into it but he's one of the members with the most 'adult' visuals, but he's earnest and kinda childlike, almost painfully so sometimes. Everything from how they met, to how they were trainees before i-Land, what happened while they were at i-Land, and what's happened since they both debuted in Enhypen - each event only confirms the conclusion from the prior event in a way that reinforces their connection with each other. But their personalities in the mix is what makes Jay's relationship with someone like Jungwon feel magnetic, somehow.

It's hard to explain lol. And I'm really not sure either, which is why I'm still quietly watching them.

I wouldn't say jaywon is the same as jikook though. In fact, there's more differences than similarities between them; but the things that are similar are significant in some ways. IMO.

okay, i’m caught up with mikoto’s case now, but i hope that i’m not annoying you by constantly flooding your inbox. here goes my early analysis. hopefully i still got the edge for this kind of thing lol.

personally, i still think my former theory is still up for a possibility, because i find some loopholes/suspicious words and actions in both the voice drama and mv. here are the ones that bother me the most:

1. the inconsistency of what john said between the voice drama and mv. in the voice drama, he promised to disappear if we vote for mikoto being forgiven, but at the very start of the song, he clearly said that “you” (even mikoto himself) can’t get rid of him now. considering that the prisoners are probably able to lie in the interrogation but not in the mv (because it was extracted right from their brain), i want to think that john lied to us just to keep mikoto safe. and if this turns out to be correct, then we can say that he has a tendency to lie just to protect mikoto, and resulting that we can’t trust him when he desperately said that he was the one that did the killing. because there’s a chance that he was lying about that just to protect him.

2. how john was really adamant on taking the blame and insisting that he was the one doing the killing, but can’t even answer on how many did he kill because the reason was that it was vague since he was JUST born. honestly, this one is really sus to me. if he was lying, then why would he lie about not knowing something he had openly admit? but if he said the truth, then it would lead to another questions of why or when he was born. why? what was the trigger for his existence? yes, john was born to help mikoto unburdened his stress, but what was the breaking point? and also, when was he born? from his answer, we can deduct it’s probably right before, during, or even AFTER the killing happen.

3. some suspicious phrases from john. first, when he said that he’ll “take it from here”, probably talking about the breaking point that i’m questioning above, but isn’t it weird if he just woke up then suddenly killing the innocent passerby or random people because of simple reasons that they’re annoying?? it’s even weirder because mikoto will gain nothing by them being dead while john’s only purpose was to protect mikoto. mikoto himself doesn’t even know that they’re dead or that he killed them, so obviously it’s not a way to help him let off some steam. so, i still think that the phrase refers to after the killing happen, john was made to take the blame and took the sin of killing from mikoto, he’s made to deal with everything from that point.

second, when he said mikoto’s “already broken”. i’m probably overthinking on this one, but isn’t john’s purpose was sort of like to prevent that to happen? to protect mikoto from stress so he wouldn’t be broken. but if he was already broken, then what else is he protecting? probably the aftermath of him being broken.

third, the apologies at the very end of the mv. was it an apology because he made mikoto’s life harder by killing, or was it an apology because he failed to protect mikoto (1st trial)? for me personally, either is possible. but he also did say something like “if only i was never born”, so the latter was a bit unlikely.

4. the mannequins. i haven’t watched every second trial mv, but from what i remember, they mostly show the victims at the end of the mvs. but not in mikoto’s mv. they only showed the beaten up and bloodied mannequins throughout the video, but not a single living person. and, you know, we mostly see things from john’s perspective this time.

Personally, I’ve became a Mikoto/“John” apologist now so I’m a little bias, but I’ll try to stay in a “neutral” side here and explain why I think what I think lmao

1. I, too, am suspicious of “John” saying that he will disappear after Mikoto is voted innocent lol Like—Boi, is it really that easy? I doubt he can disappear just like that, because “John” was born out of Mikoto’s stress, so in order for him to disappear, we need to get rid of things that causes Mikoto’s stress. In this case, it’s Milgram itself and his surroundings, and it’s not like Mikoto will feel better if he left Milgram, you know? I think what “John” is trying to say in his interrogation is that he will at least slowly disappear if Mikoto is innocent, but I don’t think he’ll disappear completely. I choose to believe that “John” is not lying, because he understands that by coming out more often, he’s just causing Mikoto more pain. I’m not very knowledgable about DID myself, but I truly believed that the “Original Mikoto” can disappear if he got too stressed.

Also I think “John” is saying “You can’t get rid of me now” in the MV is for both us and Mikoto is genius, but I’m leaning more to the fact that it’s for Mikoto. This is because he knows that Mikoto doesn’t wish to hurt anyone, but at this point, “John” is pissed and tells Mikoto to just leave it to him if Mikoto wasn’t going to do anything. Of course, I’ll keep in mind that he could be lying in his MV too, but my dumbass will choose to believe in him lol

2. I think the reason why “John” can’t say who or how many he killed is because to him, the people he killed are just faceless nobodies. He doesn’t care about those people, because his priority was to protect Mikoto. The mannequins even feels like a symbolism for that, static and humans with no faces—Just like how “John” sees them. It’s not really known what triggered his birth in the first place, but maybe something especially traumatizing happened to Mikoto during those times? Who knows lol But I think he was born at that exact moment, at least that’s what he said during the interrogation.

3. His first line in the MV was interesting, but the english subs are kinda lacking the emotion of what he actually said. Instead of “I’ve got you, leave it to me”, he was more frustrated in Japanese and saying something that goes more like “Ah! Fuck it, let me do it for you” lol

And Yeah, “John” is definitely saying sorry for making Mikoto’s life even harder, because killing those irritating people was probably the only thing he knew of what to do at that moment. In the interrogation, I did remember “John” being confused when he born, I think it just came second-nature to him on what to do.

4. And yep, I’ve said it before but I believe the mannequins are symbolism of “John” not knowing the people he killed. They’re all the same and faceless to him lol

something that i've never been able to figure out is why i enjoy the build up to rory's relationships but can never get fully invested in them once they actually happen. with dean, it was really cute and wholesome for almost the entire first season, but then he tells her he loves her and lashes out when she doesn't say it back. at this point, he had officially become the typical "nice guy" who's not actually a nice guy at all once he doesn't get what he feels entitled to. ew. immediately gave me the ick. and it just got worse from there. i never shipped them again after that moment.

then in comes jess! and i was like omg yay! dean is awful and jess is so cute. i was so excited about it. even though i enjoyed early dean/rory, imo she had far more chemistry with jess and the build up was immaculate. i honestly didn't even mind that she cheated lmao because it actually made sense in the story and they were just young kids making mistakes. plus, it was a very good kiss soooo yeah. i was completely on board, even through the drama that followed, right up until they got together. it was so good initially. and then almost immediately, i lost all interest in their relationship because jess was just such an asshole a lot of the time! he was cringy. he was annoying. he treated her awfully. i couldn't enjoy them at all anymore. and then the relationship deteriorated, progressively getting worse and worse.

a bit later and in comes logan and i was even more excited for him! i was like yes this must be what i have been waiting for! it's the third romance trope. let's fucking go. and the build up was even better than jess/rory imo!! they made me go insaneeee before they got together. like. fuck. i was so so soooo invested. but their first kiss was somehow so meh to me. a lot of the time, i could still enjoy them together and i thought they had a lot of cute moments, but the magic that i felt before they got together was just kind of gone. sometimes i could still feel it and other times i just didn't. so, between that and some really bad writing decisions/ooc behavior (such as their breakup in s6 and all the drama that lead up to it and came after it), i could never fully ship them either.

i prefer rory/logan over the others because overall they had the healthiest relationship, but there's just something missing with every single one of these boys with they way they were written. it just doesn't feel like any of them are meant for rory. it feels like there's someone else out there for her that she hasn't met yet. am i the only one that feels this way? i feel like i am because all i see is team jess and team logan and i'm just team rory over here ig.

i will say though. i think there was a chance for me to fully get on board with jess or logan in the revival had things been different. both have second chance romance potential, but they didn't go there with jess/rory because they decided to give rory/logan yet another unsatisfying storyline. the writers clearly had a bias for jess, so i don't know why they didn't have a romantic storyline in the revival. it's just kind of weird. ideally though, i wished they'd just gone about rory/logan in a different way. if they'd had logan working at luke's inbetween jobs and rory comes home to visit and doesn't know and she comes into the diner expecting luke and sees logan waiting on tables?? and then there's all this build up to them rekindling things??? maybe they kiss and then after rory is so flustered when she sees him again in the diner and she runs into something and almost falls over, just like lorelai did because of luke once upon a time?? it would have been so cute! rory/logan have the chemistry. they just needed a better storyline!

I was close to 5* pity on the chronicled wish, and me being me, thought that "oh Baizhu's really pretty— ahem, I mean he works great with Furina!" which is good because my best teams are dendro related (my bias is showing again—) and I was like "dope, I'll pull, and hope I get either Baizhu, or perhaps Shenhe for my Ganyu and future Wriothesley!"

...I was still in the process of leveling up Mavuika, and slowly Sethos too, but Baizhu snatched up first priority— HE CAME HOMEE!!!!

Yes, so now I'm indecisive between spending resin on the exp books for Mavuika or Baizhu, and leveling up Baizhu's weapon talents plus his ascension too haha...

Well, at least he's home and he really goes heal a lot, I get the fanfare stacks so quickly stacked I'm actually quite impressed!!

And I also played the Natlan AQ and... and... omg... (I suppose I'll be vague in case you haven't played it yet, so no worries for spoilers!)

I've seen a lot of people complaining about it— and the rest going on about "capitano please be playable!" (the latter being so relatable—), so I was actually kinda confused with the mixed reactions, and so stayed away from spoilers as much as I could (although little tid-bits here and there were unavoidable), but I'd say I was pretty much on the edge of my seat for the cutscenes because— they're great?! I mean, I kinda understand some people's points that we didn't really connect with the Natlan playable characters, for example the way we did in Fontaine— but imo I think I do quite like the Natlan cast and the nation too, so I'm kinda confused with the whole thing, but anyways— I had fun! I hope you do/did too!!

Speaking of which, the 5.4 livestream!! Wriothesley's back after being locked away in hoyo's cryo jail!!! Which means I'm not pulling for Arlecchino anymore... so that means Xiangling can continue enjoying the fancy polearm... (And speaking of fancy polearm, side eyes alt account where the vortex vanquisher is being passed around as the underleveled polearm characters as they decide what to do with it...)

a group of people are already awkwardly standing around when you approach the building. a ‘ding’ chimes as soon as you enter the doorway, confirming your participation. you grab one of the phones on the table and sign in before moving to lean against the wall. chishiya stands next to you, subtly judging the people around you. 

“registration closed. game: dead or alive. difficulty: three of clubs,” the announcement begins. “rules: players must choose between two doors to exit the building. game clear: players exit the building safely within the time limit. game over: players enter the wrong room or run out of time.”

a clock hanging on the wall lights up with a timer counting down from two minutes. the people around you begin to panic. 

“life or death?” a woman reads. she’s wearing an apron covered in flour, nervously looking around the room. “how do we know which one to choose?” 

“just pick one,” a man argues. he’s in jeans and a stained shirt that reeks of alcohol, even in the borderlands. his words slur together a little. “we’re all gonna die anyways.” 

“nobody has to die,” you interrupt. “we can work together to win this one. we still have one minute and forty seconds left.” you glance between the two doors. they both look the same- artwork printed on the top half of a door labeled either “life” or “death.” 

“it’s life,” a man wearing a business suit says. his voice is deep and confident. there are no wrinkles or imperfections in his clothes though he looks tired. he peers at you through thick glasses perched on his nose. 

a high school girl nervously runs towards the door, swinging it open and stepping inside. less than a second later, a laser shoots through the ceiling and her body falls to the ground. your body stiffens next to chishiya. you stare at her corpse in shock until he starts pulling your arm, shoving you through the death door and slamming it shut behind himself. the room sets alight as soon as he does. 

“why would you do that?” the woman wearing an apron yells. “she was just a kid!” 

“these are death games,” the businessman apathetically responds. crooked fingers raise to push his glasses up, staring at you. “sacrifice is always necessary.” 

“we’re running out of time,” a teenager mumbles. he still has a bike helmet strapped on. “we need to choose another door.” 

time continues to tick down. panic engulfs the room. the woman nervously glances between the two doors before she closes her eyes, placing her hand on the handle of the life door and swinging it open. after a few seconds she lets out a relieved gasp. you’re quick to follow her out of the room, shutting the door behind you. 

the next room looks exactly the same as the others. a gray room with two doors, one labeled ‘life’ and the other ‘death.’ the timer is becoming faster now. 

“we should take turns choosing doors,” the woman suggests. “i picked the last one, it’s someone else’s turn.” 

“that sounds fair, right?” the high school boy anxiously fiddles with the clasp of his helmet. he glances at the time before turning to you. “i think they should go.” 

you flinch a little from the sudden suggestion but nod. “okay.” before you can leave to open a door chishiya pulls you back by your arm, leaning in to whisper in your ear. 

“pick death.” he has no expression when you look at him but gives you a small nod towards the door. your hand shakes a little when you set it on the handle, swinging the door open and stepping into the room. after a few seconds of nothing happening, you let out a small sigh of relief. 

“who goes next?” you ask, looking between the teenager and the businessman. 

“your friend should go,” the businessman says. “he said something to you before you picked the door. what was it?” 

“why does that matter?” 

“he hasn’t said a word since we got here. for all we know, he could be a part of the games.” the woman shrinks back away from you at his words. you scoff. 

“you really think whoever is running these games is sending in spies?”

“he’s right,” the teenager says, moving to the other side of the room next to the woman. “how do we know who you are?” 

“we’re running out of time,” chishiya says. only thirty seconds remain on the timer. he grabs your hand, moving to the ‘life’ door and opening it. after a few uneventful seconds, the others rush into the room behind you. 

“he’s gotten every single answer right,” the businessman argues. “how?” 

chishiya sighs. “the building is shaped like a square. there’s one room in the middle and eight rooms surrounding it. the girl who opened the first door led to the room in the middle. if we stick to the edges of the building we’ll be able to complete the game.” 

“how long have you known how to win?” the woman yells. “why did you let that girl die? how can we trust you?” 

“i wasn’t sure until the second room.” 

“if you’re so sure, then open the wrong door.” the businessman says. “if you’re right, then the middle room will have more than one door and we’ll be able to see inside.” 

“are you a fucking idiot?” the words leave your mouth before you realize what they are, only spurred on by the anger coursing through you. “seriously, who do you think you are? you’ve done nothing but guess your way through the game and now that we have a strategy you’re complaining about the plan working? shut up and listen for once. he’s saving your lives!” 

you take a breath to calm yourself, almost shrinking back to chishiya’s side. he glances over his shoulder at you, silently reaching over to take your hand into his. the group stares between you, chishiya, and the businessman but you ignore them. the warmth of chishiya’s hand in yours calms you. 

“it has to be death,” he says, turning back to the group. “open the door.” nobody moves until you drag him with you to the door, swinging it open and entering the next room. 

you follow chishiya through the rest of the rooms until you end up at the final room. “wait,” he pulls you back, next to his side. there are only ten seconds on the timer. “the ‘life’ door leads to the middle room but the ‘death’ one goes back to the original room.” 

“the entrance and exit must be the same.” you rush to the door, quickly throwing it open and running out of the room. the fire barely misses you as it scorches the room, setting it alight in flames. you pant, leaning back against the wall of the original room. 

your phone chimes in your pocket. “game cleared. congratulations.” 

chishiya’s hand remains in yours, leading you out of the building. the cool night air feels good against your skin. he squeezes your hand, letting himself slightly relax. “thank you,” he whispers. “for standing up for me. for trusting me.” 

you nod, pulling him into a hug. chishiya stiffens a little, awkwardly standing in front of you before hesitantly wrapping his arms around you. “of course i trust you. i love you.” 

chishiya presses a kiss against your forehead, pulling you a little closer. “i love you too.”

i've gotta be honest, i don't think weiss' 'it's about time' comment brings us any closer to 'canon bees confirmation' than we already were two volumes ago. it's no more explicit than nora's speech to ren about blake and yang that preceded the renora kiss, and that ultimately didn't lead anywhere either lmao (well, it contributed to the holding pattern blake and yang were in, but that's been consistent since the end of v6. is it really a 'slow burn' if nothing's actually burning? i've seen glaciers melt faster)

I definitely see where you're coming from, anon. However, I do think there's a slight (but important) difference in how these comments are framed. Nora uses a Blake/Yang reference to try and goad Ren into acknowledging their own attraction. It's not about the bees, it's about renora. Though I don't think this is actually the case, it's possible to make an argument that Nora didn't really mean anything by her comments, at least not when it comes to her teammates. She's mad. She's frustrated. She wants Ren to acknowledge their relationship and she's willing to say or do anything (like the kiss) to get that out of him. The closest thing I can think to compare it to is an annoyed person letting that annoyance cloud their judgement of something else.

Person #1, at a Fun Even: "Wow! This is so much fun! :D"

Person #2, also at the Fun Event but really fucking mad at them: "Oh really? You think this is fun? Are you stupid?"

The takeaway isn't, "Person #2 actually hates this fun thing" it's "Person #2 is really annoyed with Person #1." As said, given everything else Nora is right that Blake and Yang are attracted to one another and I do think she legitimately believes they're more than friends, but the scene itself is constructed in a way that anyone who doesn't want the queer rep can argue that Nora doesn't really think this, she's just letting her own relationship bias color her view of the bees and/or she's spouting anything, no matter how absurd, that she thinks might get Ren to admit his feelings. Toss in the fact that Ren's response is, "What else would they be [if not friends]?" and you can picture people going, "See! See! He disagrees and doesn't see anything happening between Blake and Yang because nothing is happening!"

Weiss' comment, in contrast, is much more straightforward and far closer to irrefutable. She makes a comment that's only ever made about romantic couples, while in a calm state of mind, while not actually talking about herself, without Ruby coming in with a, 'Wtf are you talking about?' response. It's not exactly a world-shattering difference, but I think it's the stronger of the two scenes and, technically speaking, the closer to true canonization.

It's actually funny because I went back to my old recap while reviewing that scene and I was SO hopeful. Like, Volume 7 Clyde still had a decent amount of faith in the writers, despite the utter failure of Volume 6. Other heroes are Flame and Dawn Other Villains are Vay and Daisy

Both Flame and Dawn have strong senses of justice, if they believe something is not right, they will do something about it. The difference between them tho, is that Flame thinks too much about how shit the world is in general and desperately wants to change it, while Dawn focuses more on things she can help with, like solving issues that she knows is in front of her.

Daisy and Vay on the other hand- Well Daisy... well... We'll see whats up with Daisy as we dive into her character more. Vay tho, He WANTS to be a hero. He wants to prove himself, he wants to not seem as weak, helpless, so he tries his best to save and help eevees so he can prove to himself that he isn't those things. the issue though, is how he views those that he's supposed to be protecting. He prosecutes innocent eevees just because they are in Icedrop, and lets evil eevees go because they are in Greenpaw/Lightfire. He sees an Icedrop eevee being beaten up by an eevee from the other brotherhoods, and he automatically thinks they deserve it then (maybe) joins in. He neglects his duties as a leader too. Just imagine a Parent who leaves their 6 year old alone to fend for themselves. Doesn't give them anything, doesn't give them any comfort or care, hurts them physically for actually no reason, then starts complaining about how evil the actual child is when they are told they don't like them/when the kid starts acting out to survive. All because of a bias they have against a group the child is part of (that they LEAD).

I said the most about Vay cause we got the most from him so far comic wise lmao. The other characters (including Blizz and Dusk, despite their screentime) have more to reveal.

10. What was their last big fight? What did they learn from it? (Valentine/Abernathy)

I'll preface this by saying that their style of fighting is all outwardly civil, because showing real distress or anger would be losing. So you've got one of those situations where all the air goes out of the room and they end up saying very vicious things in calm reasonable voices. Their last argument wasn't anything monumental on its own, but it was one of those ones where a lot of bullshit had been simmering for a while. When Abernathy gave Valentine some condescending feedback on a project she was working on, it just devolved into both of them trying to hurt the other as much as possible. Their fights usually go along the lines of 'You're never going to be good enough (Abernathy to Valentine)' and 'Your obsessive need to control people is why you don't have any friends besides me (Valentine to Abernathy)'.

For Abernathy, it's every time she sees an exec working hand in hand with a trusted lieutenant, and whenever she's at a fancy party and doesn't have Valentine to text snarky commentary to. Valentine was really into all her fancy coffee blends and so on occasion she still hears her ranting intensely on the comparison of one roast over another when she's having her morning cups.

For Valentine, inevitably anything to do with the fucked up internal politics and power struggle within Arasaka will always have that sort of tinge of memory. She also still remembers all of Abernathy's favorite snacks and places to eat and socialize, which she now avoids entirely. 16. How do they react when the other is upset? How do they try to help? (Valentine/Goro)

Heh, well throughout the game events Valentine oscillates violently between "Everything's fine lol :)" and "If I can't stab someone or something in the next five minutes I'm going to lose it :)" so Goro gets a lot of practice. His strategy is generally to be a quiet voice of reason and stick close by for when she is ready to cool off and lean on him. He's also found distracting her with innocuous and unrelated conversation to be helpful.

On the other hand when they're together Valentine usually is expending some amount of brain power anticipating his reactions to things (she gets pretty good at it, so it's instinctual) and pre-empting as many conflicts as she can. Otherwise, Goro is a much more emotionally stable person than she is, but also much more (successfully) repressed, so often her work is to openly acknowledge she can tell he is upset. Most of the time the things that upset him are outside of her control (survivor bias lol), so she just listens to him get it off his chest.

20. If they disagree, who's usually the one to compromise? (Valentine/Goro)

Valentine 100% lmao. Either she won't mention that she disagrees or she'll tell him, but agree to do it his way anyway. There are times when she thinks she's right but that she can convince him, but she'll do it in the most convoluted non-confrontational way possible, and she's lucky one of his career skills is being able to understand what someone wants without saying it. (There was that one time she punched him in the jaw instead, but that was an Outlier.)

Which isn't to say Goro intentionally steamrolls her, but he's used to being obeyed as much as he is being Saburo's shadow. Still, he doesn't really want her to just go along with whatever he does so he does make the effort to compromise occasionally even if he thinks he's right. Luckily they don't disagree on most of the important things, and for most of the other stuff they're confident enough just to tease each other about those differences of opinion. (e.g. can the snacks sold in gas stations be considered Food?)
