I'm just so disappointed with the character creator in Baldur's Gate 3. I know many people are happy with what they got and good for them, etc etc
But with the amount of resources they put into things that don't matter that much I feel like being able to build the character that you want should have been priority #1 in a dnd based game.
I'm not happy with the presets, and maybe it's partially because Dragon Age Inquisition did such a fantastic job with fewer resources (I know, the hair.... it was 2014). And then I look at ESO and they give you the option to give your character an individual body shape, make boobs smaller, asses bigger, remodel the face. And that's an mmo.
I don't think presets are bad per se, but other games have successfully demonstrated that you can have presets, and give people the option to change features additionally.
If it were a smaller game and if it gotten medium reviews and if it wouldn't pride itself in being DnD based, I wouldn't care as much.
But they had resources for genitals, and they're getting 10/10 reviews, and they haven't understood the core of DnD is making the character that you want.
AND, to add salt to the wound, there's a whole bunch of additional presets that they dangle in front of your nose when building the guardian.
Larian is lucky there's no real competition on the market right now, because between this and the galore of bugs breaking the game (on console... where you also can't use mods) the game just doesn't feel finished. It has potential. The hair option, for example are really good! But it's just not done. And to to save resources in the character creator is the worst decision you can make as a studio.
I hope they will put out more patches in the future, and give us more options to choose from.

"dolphins are completely evil" I actually don't think we should assign human morality to animals with no concept of law or civilisation with an intelligence roughly equating to that of a toddler

I love not pitting indie animation shows against each other and instead embracing all of them. In the midst of ai slop, corporations always choosing live action/CG over full animation, and the rise in conservatism, we have all these shows that just embrace animation (and usually queerness too). I love TADC, helluva boss, hazbin, lackadaisy, gaslight district, murder drones, all of them, just for what they represent. Animation is not dead and it never will be.

You allow yourself a moment to indulge in the fantasy of yourself as their chosen companion—their trusted right hand when their own fails them—before the sheer laughable impossibility of anyone finding comfort in such reliance on you clamours and shoves its way to the forefront of reasons why that can never be. You understand this. You truly do. It’s only that—

i do think that despite certain kinds of grittiness occurring in other 90s comics, and even bat comics, 90s bat comics were genuinely pretty firm on the stance that resorting to killing is pretty categorically unacceptable for a bat-character. it's why knightfall is a thesis for "a batman who only cares to stop crime and will kill is not a good batman". it's why when they had characters like huntress and spoiler who were more likely to ask the question of if "maybe some people should die" they consistently got talked down from it as not the right way and would always back down from killing (and why they were allowed to be batfam characters rather than bad guys--the fact that despite the fact they were willing to kill, they chose not to almost every time) (whether or not you agree with the stance that ostensibly was the main stance). like yes. bruce could be a dogmatic asshole about it to people but also. in the words of the batbible itself.

Bruno: My nosey-ass sisters are mad I never told them I was gay until they found out last week.
Bruno: According to them they wasted all this time trying to find a woman for me when they could have found me a boyfriend by now.

I know I'm new to the Murderbot Dairies series but just checking the tags and seeing people go "the tv show white washed MB" and I'm 3 books in and the only canon description I have is "tall, intimidating, looks human, short hair" that's it. So like if someone could point out to me exactly which book or if there is a canon description beyond those?
My concern is that MB is referred to as a slave character and because it's a android aka bot/human construct and owned by The Company. I don't know if this is an instance of "they actually white washed the main character" or just "fans want an actor of color to portray MB" / "fanart shows MB as a character of color" which I have no issues with, but like I would like to know the canon vs the fanon.
The rest of the characters in the show is very diverse casting too and so far from what I've read the ones who were described in the books, like Dr Mensah, were cast right. I know they combined some characters because they wanted a smaller cast than the first book had but the author of the books has been supportive of the show.

i will always speak up about things that upset or offend me if i have to, and waking up to people discoursing my gender or my “proper identify” isn’t a fun thing - i’ve said so many times i’m just me, which means i’m okay being called a guy and a man considering i call myself those terms all the time anyway. be kind gamers okay?

i’m sorry but these takes lowkey annoy me like have your preferences all you like however don’t shame others for theirs? i don’t understand the need to claim every gay man in the world as vers. like not to agree with christopher rice but gay men have preferences and when it comes to louis being w lestat it was louis’s preference to bottom for him and that’s okay!!!
i feel it’s also good to remember that louis topped armand bcos he was mimicking lestat’s role towards him during their 30 year companionship. louis was very much using armand to heal from les and armand well we know he’s an obsessed lestat fangirl and the entirety of loumand’s relationship was lestat centered.
