Mentioning Tusk Love and the potential of other independent stories set in Exandria reminded me of an old discord conversation about how they could Fix the courting of the crick for publishing (seeing as it's canonically a Bad Book due to being super dry and also racist towards drow) without breaking canon:

Rename it 'The Courting of the Kryn - a Reimagining of the Classic Story, by Jester Lavorre'

Present it as an in-universe fanfic-ish rewrite. There's a foreword where 'Jester' elaborates on the inaccuracies of the original, the impact the story had on her, and the importance of Dynasty-Empire relations. There's an acknowledgement section where she thanks Caleb and Beau as 'consultants on Empire culture', as well as an unnamed/under fake name/clearly Essek as an 'expert on the Luxon, dunamancy and Dynasty culture'. All his information on spy networks is eerily accurate and has his former co-workers scrambling. (He makes her keep all the dry historical accounts, but now it's accurate (with added dick-related puns)). She mentions that she reached out to the Bright Queen who reluctantly (after 5 messages in a row) gave some pointers. In her frantic research she possibly made some breakthroughs on the nature on the Luxon that has Essek reeling (there's a 'further reading' section where she lists the academic paper he wrote building on her discoveries and an entire list of the sources her consultants used).

For extra fun and meta-ness, include footnotes where she comments on things she changed/removed from the original and why, how various scenes may have been inspired by a real life couple or events, etc. Some of the footnotes are written by her consultants. Caleb and Essek get into arguments on dunamancy theory which is actually thinly veiled flirting. There's anatomically accurate drow sex (it's unclear whether the consultant was Essek or Caleb or possibly a certain brother, who was also consulted on Dynasty military practices).

Im starting my first Lancer game (im the gm) next week with a session 0, basically just getting my players the resources they need (comp/con and the lcp for Solstice Rain) and i have some immediate thoughts

1. Im using Foundry VTT hexes, and its a nightmare trying to get them to fit and work, especially since i dont know the math needed for it

2. Comp/con is a godsend even if just for organization (also being able to import PCs tho not npcs TT-TT)

3. The Lancer system in Foundry is really nice and simple to use when you actually learn how to set it up

4. Im gonna need to set up a tutorial map so that my players can learn how to use it on their end, and so that i can know how to actually set up the maps (i dont want them to see my reinforcements before its too late)

5. Im not sure how long its going to take, but i think 3hrs (or the end of mission 1) until i decide whether to end it for the night or not is reasonable

Im pretty anxious, but i can definitely do this. or at least follow the script

Scarian is the classic <3 ive only written them once for a friend and it took me… months… got stuck on one scene and avoided it for ages (and then got into taurtis x grian but that’s another story)

Cub and Scar being brotherly and inseparable is soo <3333 everything to me. Have you read “closer to another shore”? Oh my god. Changed my life. And scar and Cub within that book… absolute peak. Devoured it twice over and once more on top of that. Very much recommend if you want to tear your own heart out and crush grian like a bug!

I have this whole scale AU for Scarian that I'll write one day. it's bound to be my hardst work yet (yeah including the historial research and mapping nightmare that is Dealing Despair), because Splinter is one of those fics you have to plan every single scene out to make it all come together in the end.

My goal with Splinter) whenever I get around to writing it, it is to have like a fraction of coolness Birrdie's as above, so below has?? It's still one of my favorite fics of all time and I strive to write an AU like that one day. Splinter isnt the same thing? it's like a past life kind of thing, but the part im trying to emulate from aasb is the "oh something is happening here...I am scared of it" vibe.

Eitherway, if you want a good Grian fic (with some Scarian) THATS the fic. This is the fic I give to all my friends new to the fandom/to fanfiction. I shove aasb and Dirges in the Dark at them because those are the two fanfics I want on my shelf YESTERDAY. Like physical copies. (I am working on that actually....)

ive posted so much every single day on this blog for weeks now i feel weird having barely posted today . ive been busy but uhhh heres a random image i never posted from my tadc art folder?

I'm curious if some mechanic on Tumblr has changed, because I'm getting a bunch of likes and reblogs in my activity bar from people I don't know in regard to a specific post of mine that was actually a reblog.

Specifically, the post is my reblog of the Sarek/Amanda + Kirk/Spock clip in which Sarek says "My wife, attend" and Spock tries to peace out only for Kirk to call out "Mr. Spock, a moment, if you please" with a gesture that indicates refusal is not really an option. My reblog just pointed out that Amanda's fancy Vulcan robe is in a completely different style from Spock's Starfleet science uniform, but has the same color scheme: dark material beneath a soft pale blue outer layer and a black collar.

I don't have an issue with this, obviously, but most of this activity on my reblog is coming from people who don't follow me. Usually, the activity bar doesn't show my posts taking off beyond familiar followers or someone who's obviously going through one of my tags when my post was a reblog rather than the original one. It's the original post that "gets" the notes from secondhand and thirdhand reblogs, not me. I only find out about something in a reblog of mine spreading if people tag me, I happen to check the notes, or the reblog circulates widely enough that it eventually shows up on my own dash via people I follow.

None of those are true in this case and yet the activity I'm seeing is specifically attached to that reblog in my activity bar. It looks like a bunch of people who didn't follow me or previously know I exist are clicking on that specific reblog (and nothing else), then liking or reblogging it directly from me, which is really unusual.

The only answers I can think of are a) there's been some structural change to how activity on reblogs registers to the users involved, or b) my reblog has been linked from some fandom hub I don't know about, but which has a lot of eyes on it, and people are just clicking the direct link to my blog and liking/reblogging from "here."

I don't actually know which it is, but it entertained me to try and figure it out, anyway.
