Put about two thirds of the mixture in the bottom of a baking dish that is 8x8 inches and has parchment paper on the bottom. Cover the crust with cherry jam. Spread the rest of the oat mixture and sliced almonds out evenly on top of the cherry layer. It should be baked for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Let it cool all the way down before cutting it into bars.

Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way. After the Christmas fruitcake cookies have cooled, put them in a container that won't let air in.
