“Grunnings Drills, what can I do for you today?”

She clenched her teeth as she noticed the three men in suits walking through the lobby. One of them, she knew, was her boss. Mr. Taylor was about the strictest it got, and one too many times already in the month she had been working here, he had caught her answering the phone ‘improperly’. She kicked herself now, praying Mr. Taylor was too busy to take notice.

Mr. Taylor, the tallest of the three men, stopped, turning to look at the desk. The other two soon followed. The only ones in the large room, all was quiet aside from the receptionist’s short phone conversation. A rather pudgy man in the back shuffled his feet, looking at the woman in pity. He watched as her eyes froze on them all for a moment, before turning away quickly, her face flushing red.

“That would be Mr. Martin in Accounting, would you like me to transfer you?” From the corner of her eye, she could see him approaching, almost slowly, like a predator hunting its prey. “I’ll transfer you now, have a great day.” Her hands were shaking as she pressed the buttons to transfer the call, then quickly put the phone back to the receiver. Nearly as soon as she did, there was a slapping sound so loud that she jumped and let out a small squeak. She looked over to see Mr. Taylor’s hands flat against her desk, his face and bald head reddening, just slightly, in anger.

“How many times do I have to tell you, Evans,” he said, his northern accent coming out strong. “There is only one way we answer the phone around here. Tell me what it is.”

The pudgy man behind Mr. Taylor frowned, feeling guilty as he looked at the woman’s wide, blue eyes. She hesitated, then closed her eyes for a brief moment, shaking thoughts back into her head. “Grunnings Drills, this is Petunia,” answered the woman in her best customer service voice, despite the nerves that wracked her. 

Mr. Taylor gave her a wicked smile. “Good,” he said, “you’re not completely incompetent.” The silence in the room continued, and as Petunia’s jaw slacked, the pudgy man and his companion shared a look of slight shock themselves. “A pretty face doesn’t get you too far answering phones, Evans, remember that,” he continued, beginning to walk away from her desk. “You’re easy to replace. You should be grateful I even hired you in the first place.” 

Through gritted teeth, Petunia replied, “Thank you, Mr. Taylor.” He returned to the other two men, and, looking down at her desk, she heard them leave. 

Thinking she was alone, Petunia brought her head to her hands, and let out a shaky breath. Nearly every day had been like this one, and she didn’t know how much more of this she could take. She thought of where she might be if she had taken that market job in Southwark, even though she would only be making half of what she was making now. She wondered if it was worth it, if the extra money was worth putting up with this. She wondered if it was worth leaving home at all.

She was startled when she looked up to find the pudgy man who had been with Mr. Taylor approaching her desk. Quickly, she forced a smile. “How can I help you, sir?”

“I wanted to apologize on behalf of Taylor,” he started, taking her off guard. She’d seen him in passing before, and the man had always seemed to be quite fond of her boss, so his actions now confused her. “He’s been like this to every receptionist we’ve hired in the past six months.” The man leaned his arm against Petunia’s desk, and spoke lowly. “You’ve lasted the longest of them all, you know. Longest they’ve lasted before you was two weeks. It’s admirable, really.”

“Maybe it’s not a problem of the receptionists you’ve been hiring, then,” answered Petunia.

The man’s sympathetic face slowly broke into a smile, and the smile spread to Petunia. “You know, I think you might be right. What was your name again?”

“Petunia,” she answered, sitting up a little straighter.

“Well, you might just have solved all our problems, Petunia. I’m Vernon,” He reached his hand over to her, and after looking at it for a moment, she took it.

Despite meeting the first decent person since she had arrived in London, Petunia counted today as yet another loss. Hand held tightly to the metro handle in the center of the train car, she rested her head against her fist, almost finding pleasure as her knuckles pressed into her temple, relieving some of the pressure in her head. She wondered if this was what a migraine felt like - if, maybe, her pain tolerance was higher than her mother’s, and she could simply stand it more than her. She quickly dismissed it. Her mother had a higher tolerance in everything.

She shut her eyes for a moment, but opened them again as she felt the train car slowing. There was a muttering over the com system, but she didn’t need to hear it to know it was her stop. After getting seriously lost the first time she had used the London metro on her own during her first week, Petunia had taken the time to memorize and master the metro system. The last thing she wanted to do was end up on the clear other side of town in the middle of the night again.

Readjusting the strap of her purse on her shoulder, Petunia moved toward the doors, exiting with a total of maybe ten people. She paused towards the top of the stairs, sighing at the sound of pouring rain. There hadn’t been a cloud in the sky when she had left for work that morning. She straightened her posture, placed her purse over her head, and continued, the clicking of her heels being lost to the rain and traffic.

After half a mile of trotting through the rain, Petunia finally reached her flat. The last block was nearly a sprint up the hill, so her breathing was labored as she closed the door behind her. She turned to find a pair of snobbish looking women, looking at her incredulously. Standing up straighter, she nodded to them, and began to walk past them.

“What, did she go for a swim?” one quietly said to the other, causing the both of them to break out in giggles as they opened their umbrellas and stepped out. Petunia felt her face reddening, and paused for a moment on the stairs. She felt a welling in her chest, and looked up at the ceiling to try to hold back the tears. It was right about now she wished she still believed in a God.

Though she knew it wouldn’t help anything, she slammed her door behind her as she reached her flat. She ripped off her drenched overcoat, threw it onto the floor beside the door, and let it lay in a soaking heap. Soon after, Petunia followed it, her back sliding against the door until she met the cold hardwood floor. 

She didn’t even cry. She just sat there in her loneliness.

“I should just go home,” she whispered to the empty room. It wouldn’t even be that difficult. Nearly everything she owned was still in boxes.

Yet, with a tap on her fourth-story window, she remembered why she couldn’t go home.

2020 - 2021 - All the Young Dudes is blows up on tiktok - Desi James is popularised - Peter also starts playing a bigger role in stories with an actual personality

2022 - Zeppazariel's fics and Choices - Jegulus focused fics, which led to Marylily, the Slitherskittles (and Rosekiller), and bi/pan James

70s pop culture (music, smoking, fashion, etc.)

generally more diverse and socially aware characters (poc Mary and Dorcas, plus sized Lily, feminism, everyones queer and accepting) that tend to move away from their canon characterisations (James and Sirius were not bullies, but slightly immature pranksters. James is the Mom Friend and Sirius just has trauma. The technically death eater Slytherins aren't actually evil and blood supremacist , only affectionately mean and morally gray.)

note: personally I like what the fandom and characters have evolved into, however it has been criticised (especially by older fans) for being completely canon divergent, the characters being essentially OCs, and the 'glorification' and 'babygirlification' of bad people (I should also add that often times people who take this stance are often avid Snape fans/defenders)

first son, first grandson, first child. he was born with all the pressure of succeeding.

and he did.

QB of the school's football team, got into varsity in freshman year

Graduated at 16, got into Harvard.

He's basically the "burnt out gifted kid" who never really had the chance to burn out. he didn't let himself. he just kept going and going and going until he got where he was expected and beyond.

He doesn't really care for fictional things such as movies or stories or even fictional books. Even when he was in elementary school, he would always check out books from the non-fiction section.

The only fictional books that interest him are the classics.

Not very much of a smiler.

He was always an older brother/authority figure to his younger siblings. As the years went by he just kept losing his inner child and was basically forced to mature by the time he got to 5th grade.

He gets frustrated at people who don't use common sense.

He is a very "you have to see it to believe it" type of person. So in his mind Santa Claus isn't real. Neither are unicorns or fairies. :(

He won't tell anyone but he LOVES American folklore. It's probably the only story he could listen to again and again without pointing out how unrealistic it is. (examples: Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Johnny Appleseed)

He doesn't really tolerate crying. It makes him uncomfortable and he doesn't know what to do or how to comfort the person crying. So he just walks away.

He's never really free to do anything.

He's hardest on Nate & Marion but in different ways.

In high school he was actually quite popular.

He's always in a rush. He gets an assignment, it's completed before class ends. He's always packing up fast, walking fast, he studies for tests fast. Hr has never had a problem with procrastination.

He drinks his coffee black.

He hates sugar, hates anything sweet. Dark chocolate is the way to go for him.

He's one of those people that texts with punctuation and proper grammar.

he's a people person, he might not be the smartest person but he always knows what to say to make someone feel better.

FC is Will Estes

Raguel is the youngest of the archangels, known as the archangel of justice, vengeance, and harmony. He left heaven before Gabe did, and after the Flood, he cut all ties with his father and siblings.  He spent most of his time acting as a guiding voice to judges until the the late 19th century when he learned many would no longer listen to him.  Then, he turned to aiding the police force.  His current and true vessel is a young New York cop named Angel Raguel. The man was fatally wounded and when the archangel asked to use him as a vessel, the officer agreed but asked Raguel to let him die.  Raguel agreed. Things were rocky with the officer's siblings for a while, but eventually he considered them his own (For my sanity I’ll list their names now: Adam Mitchell, Taylor Ralph, Gabrielle Amanda).  During his first 2 years in this vessel Raguel married a young woman who later died giving birth to their son Konstantine.  Raguel has now been with the NYPD about 10 years.

Konstantine:

AKA Konny, Tinman, mini-Angel

FC is Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Konny is Raguel's younger and only surviving son.  (I will eventually get into all details but I like surprises)  He is an Archnephilim and like his cousin Jack he reached adulthood immediately after birth.  Due to trying to avoid suspicion, his father tells most people Konny is his deceased wife's brother who came to live with him after her death.  The only people who know Konstantine is Raguel's son are his siblings and his work partner.   He is a sassy trouble maker, but he tries very hard to help others and please people he likes.  He is actually very selfconscious, but hides it well.  That's all I have for now.

AKA Spenser Greyson McUsic III, Grisgris, Spense

Species: Mutant 

Height 6'0

Age  29

Grey is by basic definition a hired gun with his own idea of justice.  He lives with 3 other mutants (Jacob age 22, Lucas age 14, and Julian age 11).  His powers consist of creating portals for travel to alternate universes (most control over), places in his current universe (good control if he's not distracted), and across time (very little control). He can also create small portals to pocket dimensions he uses for storage .  He's trained in physical and psycological torture, hand-to-hand combat, and knows how to use most weapons.  He is obnoxious by nature, cares deeply and dangerously for those he holds dear, and takes pleasure in the suffering of those he considers a threat and enemy.  He is a broken man, with a childhood he typically doesn’t share. (DM me if you need more info). He's from the X-Men '97 Universe but considers the MCU his Home Universe.  He lives there in New York.  Also, he's of Irish decent and suposedly a good Catholic (nobody take offence, I'm Catholic so please no hate.) That's all I have for now.   

Jacob:

Height: 5'10

Species: Mutant

Basic about:  Jacob is the second eldest of the McUsic household.  His powers constist of very strong technokineses and technopathy, typically used to keep Grey's 'business' running smoothly.  He's kind hearted, but very stern if the need arises, and is probably the only person capable of stopping Grey from being a stupid jerk.  Been with Grey since he was 7 and Grey 14.  He's just started med-school.  That's it I guess.

Lucas:

FC is Noah Schnapp

AKA Lucas Adrian McUsic, Lu, Sweetheart (by Grey)

Age: 14

Species: Mutant

Lucas is the second youngest of the McUsic household and newest member of the family.  His power consist of the ability to drain life force then either transfer to others or himself for healing purposes.  It's done through skin on skin contact and highly unstable at the moment, heavily influenced by his emotions.  He accidentally killed his mother with it.  Grey found him about a year after that and took him in.  He's super close to Julian, but has a hard time getting close to anyone outside his family.  He's very quiet and slow to open up to strangers.  He's been with Grey for a year now.

Julian:

AKA Julian Arthur McUsic, Glowstick (by Jacob), Angel or Angelface (by Grey)

Age: 11

Species: Mutant

Julian is the youngest member of the McUsic family.   His powers consist of very strong empathy (still developing) and bioluminescense.   He's a very bubbly child that adores Greyson and Jacob both and has a very special relationship with Lucas.   He's friendly and very generous and if he really likes you he will be all over you.  He doesn't seem to understand personal space.  He's been with Grey and Jacob since his parents were killed when he was 2.  And yes, it is canon that this little disaster worships Khoshu and the Catholic God.  That's it for now.

MReunited with his mortal half and stripped of godhood by his own guilt-ridden prayer, Heracles believes himself to simply be a modern halfblood with a case of amnesia. He knows his name and vaguely remembers fragments of his past, with dates, names, and most other details missing, including who his parents are.  He has retained his godly strength, but like all demigods suffers from ADHD and dyslexia.  He has extensive knowledge of Greek and Roman Mythology, and remains skilled in both archery and wrestling.  Other deities will still recognize him, but he refuses to aknowledge the possibility that he is Heracles of Ancient Greece.  He is rather friendly, although somewhat reserved and often lost in his own thoughts, and he is extremely loyal.  Inspite of his kind nature, however, he has retained his temper; given that his pride much less prominent now, that temper is rarely seen.  Hope this makes sense.

With Malice Toward None: a Musical of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. I’ve been developing this musical since summer 2020. With Malice Toward None focuses on exploring the mental health struggles that Lincoln experienced during his presidency. The musical is narrated by Robert Todd Lincoln, who recalls the storyline’s events with complete omniscience while at the 1922 Lincoln Memorial dedication. Relevant themes for the show include mental health, public history, teams that become brotherhoods, compassion, the stages of grief, leadership, and a bunch of other concepts that I’ll probably end up yapping about on here at some point. Orchestrally, the show can be described as “if Les Misérables, Hello Dolly, and Evita decided to have a threesome in my brain”.
