This is such a monumental occasion, as this is literally the first piece of fanfiction I have ever written, and to see that it's become this successful makes me unbelievably happy.

Writing the chapters, coming up with all the lore and worldbuilding, drawing the characters... it all brings me so much joy, and I know that this really is just the beginning - I have so many plans for the future of this fic and even beyond that!

So thank you all so much for giving this story a chance to thrive. The support I've gotten so far is indispensable and greatly appreciated - @nipotazzi especially, you've been with me since the start and you've made the story so much better, from your fabulous editing skills to your inventive ideas. From the bottom of my heart - thank you!

Splatoon fan art? On MY blog?? It's more likely than you think.

I managed to beat Side Order for the first time yesterday, and I decided to celebrate by drawing my versions of my squid kid and my Agent 8! Man, this was difficult; proportions are so weird! Anyway, here you go!

My first proper experience with Splatoon was in the second game's hero mode, so I like to think of my squid kid as Agent 4 (which, funnily enough, was the palette I completed for my winning Side Order run). She likes Turf Wars and Tower Control, her victory pose is the double cross dab, and she's a Sploosh-o-matic main! I also drew her squid form, which looks wonky because I like to headcanon that hairstyles are reflected in squid form (don't ask me how this would work for updo's)! Her left-most tentacle is shorter than the rest, so it shows when she turns into a squid!

I didn't actually play Octo Expansion (I'm a coward, I know), so Side Order is actually my first experience with Agent 8. Since she's more of her own character instead of an avatar I use, I gave my version of her some fun personality traits:

She always, always wears high heels. At first it was because that's all she had, but now her balance is thrown off if she doesn't have them.

She booyah's back, but she rarely sends out a booyah for the sake of one.

Her octopus form has the longest tentacles coifed to match her hair! Sometimes it gets in her eyes, but she works around that.

Her hair matches her palette chip tones, and as such, her main is the Octoshot!

She hates multitasking. She prefers to fully complete one task before moving on to the next.

Her eyes are that color because it reminds me of sanitized Octolings like Acht; I like to imagine she was very, very, VERY slightly sanitized while under the surface and the eyes are a result.

... I'm probably not going to try this art style again; it was more for the sake of experimenting than anything else. Stick figures are where I'll stay for now! Anyway, I'll be going now. Bye!

“Jade, Floyd... Can you please take care of the Lounge without me at least for tonight?”

Sweet octo-boy does not like to rely on luck. He planned everything in advance, from the food to the music, and even the subjects he would like to talk about with you.

He made things clear with the wins before leaving. They were to take care of Mostro Lounge during his absence. It was his one evening in the month where he was taking a break. The one evening he was looking forward to: the evening date with you.

First step of the date: Azul came to the Ramshackle Dormatory to pick you up. “My dear angelfish, you look lovely, tonight.” “It’s my everyday outfit, Zul”.

You managed to get Ace and Deuce to take care (keep close eyes on) of Grim for the evening, so you were free to enjoy your date with Azul. You invited him inside to have a drink before going on with your date, which he happily accepted. Two warm cups of tea on the table, a comfortable atmosphere between the two of you, a casual conversation about your date destination... Everything was perfect! Until a ringtone was heard.

Sighing, Azul picked up his phone, only to see Jade’s ID on it. He excused himself for leaving you alone for one minuscule minute before going in the corridor to take his call.

“It better be important,” Azul said as soon as he picked up. “One of your customers came in need of a contract, shall I tell him to pass by later?” Jade asked, a clear smile in his voice. The eel perfectly knew the answer, he called Azul on purpose. “No business tonight, you know it,” he grumbled back, before excusing himself and hanged up.

“Sorry for the inconvenience,” he apologized again, coming back to enjoy his nice cup of tea with you. Sure, now, nothing will come up again. Tonight was a night dedicated to you and you only, the only person for whom he will put any contract aside.

Second step of the date: Azul took you through the rose garden of the college for a peaceful walk. You two shared an interesting conversation about your personal passions, Azul loving to learn more about them. Until another ringtone made its appearance.

Azul sighed loudly. This time, it was Floyd’s ID. “You should take it,” you suggested with a small smile. The Dorm Leader excused himself once more and walked away to answer.

“What is it, Floyd?” He asked, annoyance clear in his voice. “Azuuuul, it’s boring now that we told customers to leave...” The eel complained. “What? You told all of them to leave?!” he grumbled, “Ok, I’ll let it slide, do whatever you want to entertain yourself then.” “Really? Whatever we want?” The happy smile in his voice was not reassuring, but Azul had more important business to take care of at the moment. He hanged up and went back to you once more.

Third step of the date: Azul took you to a restaurant for dinner. Nothing too fancy, but it was still a really cosy and nice place. You two ordered and went back to talking while waiting for your food to arrive. And this time, nothing will come to interrupt their dat- “Aaaazuuuuul ~”

You never saw Azul snap his head this fast before. He turned to look at the door, only to see Jade and Floyd entering the restaurant. This must be some kind of joke.

“Shrimpy! Hello ~” Floyd sang and literally ran to your table to embrace you. “Hello, Floyd,” she replied, unfased and used to it, by now. “W-What are you two doing here?!” Azul stuttered, his glasses sliding off of his nose.

“Well, you did tell Floyd we could do whatever we wanted, isn’t it?” These damn eels. “Don’t worry about us, we simply came to enjoy a nice dinner too.” Azul knew he could not believe Jade’s smile at this very moment.

Our poor unfortunate octopus asked you for help with his eyes, only for you to ask “Do you want to eat with Zul and me?” You did not get his call for help and he now just wanted to crawl into his pot until everybody forget about him for the rest of the school year.

This is how your dinner date ended being a dinner between a group of friends. Azul was grumpy, sure, especially towards the twins. He will make sure to get back to them, in some way.

Last step of the date: Azul brought you back to your dorm. Alone, without the eels. In the end, the only peaceful moment where he was able to have you all to himself was at the end of the date.

“I’m sorry for this disaster of a date, angelfish,” he apologized. “Don’t worry, it was fun,” you smiled at him. You cradled his face between your hands and he leaned against your touch, looking at you longingly. He was so lucky to have someone like you in his life.

He started to lean toward your face, his eyes closing in the process. You closed your own eyes, ready for his lips to touch yours. Until...

“Go for it, Azul! Kiss them!” “My, my, Floyd, I think they noticed us ~” “Go back to the dorm! Both of you!” Azul screamed back, becoming a blushing mess. This date night sure was fun.

How to enter a fandom - RPC

Hey guys, time for a friendly PSA from yours truely~

So I’ve been in and out of a lot of fandoms, made friends, enemies, frenemies, grave mistakes and happy accidents. I also see a lot of people come in other fandoms. Most of yall do great but I see some people carry in this weird sort of self deprecating attitude that can immediately turn rpers away from them, which results in; more of that self deprecation. So Im here to hopefully help out with the best ways to enter a fandom or an rpc, make your presence known and make lots of wonderful friends.

Now the first, and most important thing, and I notice a ton of people struggle with it is:

General attitude. 

Let me give two examples of some first time posts.

“Hey! I’m new to the fandom. I know my bio and my theme sucks but would anyone like to rp? Maybe?”

VS.

“Hey! I’m new to the fandom. My bio and rules are located here, though they’re still under construction I’m really eager to develop them with interactions!”

Now I know the first one is tempting for a lot of reasons. You might not even feel like its all that bad, but up next to the second one it actually sounds a little...depressing, monotone, dry. Even though they start the same, one ends with me feeling like: this person really doesn’t put effort into things, they dont even really want to be here. All my threads with them are going to be lazily written or probably written with half baked enthusiasm.

The second person is happy to be here, eager to interact, admits that since they’re a new blog not everything is perfect. Yet, they don’t talk down on themselves or make it seem like anyone who talks to them will only be taking pity on them.

This is actually a big problem I see in the rpc. Making people take pity on you for interactions and the rule with that is simple:

don’t make people feel like they have to take pity on you. 

It’s a knee jerk reaction, I know. We’re all awkward humans on the internet who want to play up our faults. Who wants to say “My stuff is SO awesome! It’s the best”??? 

Well. You do. You’re new to a fandom. People already have established relationships, character arks, possibly with another version of the muse youre playing. Backstories so detailed it’ll make your head spin. You are literally selling yourself to these other rpers. Don’t sell them “A vacuum cleaner that sucks. No, not sucks up the dirt, it just sucks. Like me, Im trash and dont even have a working vacuum” No one wants to buy a vacuum cleaner that sucks.

Hate to break it to you, but when you say you suck, or your stuff sucks; people are gunna believe you. Or they’re just gunna pity you. And thats not great either. 

Heck you might think; why not? So long as they rp with me, whats wrong with that? 

Well... lots of things but mostly; pity isn’t a good feeling. Nobody wants to feel guilted into rping with you. Imagine seeing someone on your dash constantly posting about how no one likes them, their character or interacting with them. How they wanna die because they never get asks, no one likes their starters. (Sound extreme? I’ve seen it.) It makes you feel bad right? It makes you wanna like them but like- where do you even start??? They don’t even like them?? What common ground do you have?? “Hey, I see you hate yourself... uh... I hate you too?” Not great. Actually bad. You don’t know how to approach this person without becoming an emotional crutch, and you know they’ll latch on to you and suck every positive emotion out of your body so how do you win?

So lesson one is; People don’t want to be forced to feel so bad that they rp with you, they want to feel inspired to. Inspire some dudes! (or non-dude identifying people)

Presentation!

This is everything. Present yourself. You don’t need flashy icons or a cool promo- let me tell you, I’ve made some shitty promos in my life. See Here

I can’t stress enough how important attitude is because I’ve had both a shitty attitude and a great one in the RPC and let me tell you, nothing kills a blog faster than a shitty attitude. Wanna make a self deprecating posts about that meme that you got 0 asks for? NUH UH. Think again. PITY = BAD, SHORT LASTING FRIENDSHIPS. INSPIRED = SUPER AWESOME HAPPY FUN TIMES FOREVER.

Yo, present yourself in a way that makes people wanna approach you. Get them interested, say something wacky or edgy or if your character is self deprecating then self deprecate through them but DO IT IN A FUN WAY. The people who care about icons and fancy promos usually aren’t worth lasting friendships either. Sometimes they literally spend more time formatting than writings something worth while for you. (some of you really balance it and just love formatting but u know im not talking about u Im talking about those that literally wont talk to us that dont)

So present yourself well and be genuine.

HELL NO shut the what up I know you’re not, I know that’s a reflex to cover up how insecure you are, I know you hate how pathetic and small you feel so you point out all the things wrong with you before someone else can. That’s not you, and you are capable of more than that.

Dude. (and non-dude identifying peeps) I’m gunna say it again. I’m gunna say it a million times; one day it will sink in. Everybody feels that way.

DONT KNOW HOW LONG I HESITATED BEFORE SENDING THAT ASK MEME TO YA.

The internet is a playground because you can trick people into believing whatever you want about yourself. YEP even good things!!! You don’t have to wear your flaws on your sleeve, and you certainly don’t have to wear them like a full body cast that prevents you from doing anything fun in your life.

Take the cast off, take a risk. You literally have nothing to lose. Especially if no one interacts with you as is anyways.

Be mindful

This is more of a trick I use to make myself feel better. I don’t follow a lot of people so my dash is pretty slow. It’s fairly easy to tell when people are and aren’t active/online so I literally have to trick myself sometimes but;

If you reblog a meme and get nothing, step back and ask yourself; am I sure anyone even saw it? and are the people who did maybe to shy to send anything? Or maybe nothing in that meme applies to their character.

As a mute character I am VERY restricted to what memes I reply to. As a character who speaks VERY LITTLE I am VERY restricted to what dialogues I can send at all. This means I’m required to edit memes a little (this is allowed by most meme creators btw) or I need a very good relationship with a character in order to say/sign that many words at them.

And worse case scenario, queue it and reblog it again/later. Its no biggie, some memes don’t make it.

Self reflect

Check out people on the dash. Do they have interactions? What are they like? Is their character more welcoming? Maybe you’re character is more intimidating. You might need to actually seek out interaction.

Tumblr has this huge enigma where everyone wants asks but no one wants to send them. Curious anons come from someone, magic anons come from your peers, followers, friends. Some of them are pretty obvious. Want asks? Send them. We really need to get the ball rolling with this because its honestly a problem. Show some initiative and reach out. It actually feels pretty good seeing someone react to your outrageous anon. And its a lot of stress relief if you play an otherwise very serious character to get to branch out and be silly.

So you send asks, you like starter calls- why isn’t it working?

Well, a stranger knocks on your door and tries to get to know you. Its a little awkward- it can work sure in some cases. But in most you’ll probably close the door and phone the police.

The RPC isn’t as strange as that but what’s easier? Talking to a muse you’ve never met from a blog you’ve never seen before? Or writing a thread with your best bud, throwing in inside jokes and references to your favourite shows- teasing each other about that one embarrassing thing that happened to your muse- yeah. Yeah you get it.

If you have history or at least an idea what someone is like, you will want to interact with them more. I don’t know if you’re some mean... meanie pants whos gunna smack my muse because he offered you a cookie. And maybe you are, but if I don’t know you, or know that your muse is deeply traumatized by cookies, I might take that as you saying “Ew no get away I never wanna rp with you”.

It sounds harsh, but I KNOW it happens. It STILL happens to me, even with people I’m friends with. Even if someone has multiple blogs and I get on fine with one muse, if the other hates me I might get uneasy about sending in asks cause I feel like I’m directly bothering the mun (who I love on this blog but WHAT IF THEY START HATING ME THERE TOO???)

Separation is tricky. We all get jealous or feel neglected when our partners focus on another thread/ship or send mean angsty replies which is why its important to check yourself remind yourself you have value, mun =/= muse and that it’s all in good fun.

Have Rules

UGH no!!! Not rules I hate rules, I dont want to restrict anyone!

Listen. I get it. I was a rule-less blog for a long time. But you know what? You need them. Not just for you, but for the people who wanna interact. I still feel the need to ask people who have rules what they are and aren’t comfortable with. You might not realize it but shit can go down in rps especially in certain fandoms. Even if its just the basics. Write them. They matter.

Unless you’re fine with someone literally controlling your character, or a blog you dont even follow who RPs David Letterman tags you in a smutty thread where your muse and him are married and he’s heavily pregnant with 4 narwal baby’s I- I think you can see where I’m going.

If its just the basics, thats fine, everyone loves seeing that. No god modding, not forced shipping, ect- great. Less for me to remember. Add to it if you need to. Everyone experiences rp different. Make your experience a comfortable one.

(And stay tf away from me Preggo-letterman)

Step away.

If you’re feeling negative, just step away. Do not make a big post about it alerting everyone who follows you because they might not all respond well. If you have close friends in then fandom you can go to, talk to them, vent a little, or just remove yourself and get those feelings out. But remember that no one here is equipped to be your therapist, and we cant all be expected to take the burden from you. It is up to you to regulate your emotions. Use coping skills but please don’t make the fandom or your blog a toxic place to be.

You don’t feel good, and no one reading your posts feels good, and building friendships on not feeling good is just... completely not good.

Im not saying you must be sunshine and rainbows all the time, but feeling bad feels bad and even though rping is just a hobby and a past time you are still reaching into other peoples lives. Leave a good impact, try to be someone you would want to meet in the rpc. Make it a better place.

“You know, I think having my brothers and I stay for the week has been the best idea Jody’s ever had,” I smiled as Claire and I wandered down the streets, my hands stuffed in my pockets as we walked in time with each other.

“Yeah,” Claire nodded, smiling to herself as we shared a glance, feeling myself blush as I looked back down at my shoes. 

I wasn’t sure what was happening to me. The way I felt around Claire...it was unlike the way I’d felt around anyone before. I never felt like I had to be someone else around her, it didn’t matter who I was, she took me as I came.

“I have to say something-” we both said in unison, laughing as we shook our heads, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk as we looked at each other now, my heart rapidly pounding.

“You go first,” She said, nudging my arm lightly. 

I bit my lip, sighing deeply as I smiled despite myself, shaking my head, “Claire, I- this week has been great, and I- god, I wish I know how to get this out.” I looked up at her, her wind-bitten nose glowing red as she smiled, running her hands down my arms as she gripped my hands. My eyes flickered up to hers, “I...I think I’m falling in love with you.”

Claire laughed lightly, squeezing my hands in hers as she nodded, “Me too.”

“Yeah?” 

“Yeah,” she beamed. I swallowed roughly, my eyes darting from hers down to her soft, pink lips and back up to her eyes. Slowly, slower than ever, we leaned in towards each other until our lips met in the softest way, just barely touching. 

I closed my eyes, pulling her closer as I ran a hand through her long hair. When we pulled away, my eyes lingered closed, relishing in the moment until I opened them again, a smile playing at both of our lips.

“Oh, this bird is fantastic,” Dean moaned as he shoved a forkful of turkey into his mouth. Jody raised her eyebrows at him as he motioned to the plate dramatically, “best Thanksgiving dinner ever.”

“Only Thanksgiving dinner,” I corrected, shoveling more potatoes onto my plate as Claire laughed at me, shaking her head.

“Y/N-” Sam complained as I returned the spoon to the bowl.

“There’s plenty left!”

“She’s right, there’s about four pounds on the stove,” Jody said, motioning to the kitchen with a nod of her head. “So, you three been keeping yourselves busy?” she asked Sam, Dean and I, taking a sip from her wine glass.

“Oh yeah, real busy,” Dean nodded as he choked down a spoonful of beans, “if you thought things were bat shit crazy before.” he said, shaking his head slightly.

“What about you guys?” Sam asked, pulling a dinner roll apart, “You guys still hunting?”

“Can we stop talking about monsters and hunting?” Alex asked, the three of us raising our eyebrows slightly at her, “What about real life?”

“Real life?” Claire asked, smirking to me, before turning back to Alex, “Okay. Yeah, sure. Let’s get real. You and Henry settle on a weekend yet?”

“What?”

“When you’re sneaking out to Jody’s cabin to screw yourselves silly.”

Alex’s mouth fell open as I choked slightly on my food, Sam and Dean setting their forks down, “Here we go.”

Jody’s fork was stopped halfway to her mouth, a piece of turkey stuck to the end of it. Alex looked between Jody and Claire, “We’re not...you’re completely insane.”

“You might want to clear you g-chats before you commit to that.”

“Yeah?” Alex shot back, “Well what about you and Y/N, huh?”

My heart instantly stopped, my hand gripped around the glass of water in my hand as Claire went on per usual, acting as if nothing were wrong. I felt the eyes of Sam, Dean and Jody on us now, “What about Y/N and I?”

“I saw you two walking outside earlier- pretty sure the whole neighborhood could see you two making out in the middle of the street.”

All movements in the room seemed to stop, my eyes trained on my plate in front of me as Claire slowly set her glass down. The realization of what she’d said hitting Alex suddenly when she was quick to apologize, “I- I’m sorry, I...I thought they knew.”

I gripped the edges of the table, not even able to look up at my brothers as I pushed the chair back, “Excuse me.”

Throwing my napkin down onto the table, I nearly sprinted through the living room before pulling the front door open, gulping down the fresh air as I carefully lowered myself down onto the porch steps, my knees feeling as if they were going to give out from under me. My hands shook and my heart raced as what just happened ran laps around my brain.

I held my knees close to my chest, closing my eyes, trying to soothe my racing heart when the front door opened behind me, two sets of feet creaking against the wood porch.

I quickly wiped away at my cheeks, looking off down the road as Sam and Dean came and sat on the stairs next to me. We sat silently for what felt like an eternity before Sam spoke up, “It’s okay, you know? To love who you love...you shouldn’t be ashamed of it.”

I bit my lip, looking down at my knees now, unable to keep the tears at bay. A long arm stretched over my shoulders as Dean brought me in close to him, running a soothing hand up and down my arm, “We’re still gonna love you, kiddo. No matter what, alright? We go through too much crap to let something like this tear us apart.”

I nodded slowly, sitting back up, Dean’s hand coming back to rest in his lap, “I was going to tell you...we were, but, I just didn’t know how.”

Sam and Dean nodded, “So how long you been into chicks?” Dean asked, making me laugh as I wiped my tears away. 

I shrugged, “Remember that hunter we ran into on a case a few years ago?”

“Michelle?” Dean asked, eyebrows cinched together, but I shook my head. That definitely wasn’t her, “Jennifer? Sarah? Brittany?” he listed off, probably ticking off all the women he’d ever come in contact with before I snapped my fingers.

“Julia!”

Dean’s face spread into a wide smile as he nodded, immediately recognizing the name, “Julia. Yeah, I can see that.”

Sam rolled his eyes, smirking nonetheless, “What do you say we go back inside, huh? Properly introduce us to your girlfriend.”

I smiled, nodding as we came back inside, taking our seats back at the dinner table where Alex profusely apologized, but I waved her off, “It’s really okay Alex,” I smiled as I took Claire’s hand in mine, smiling to Sam and Dean. 

“Sam, Dean,” I nodded each of them, “this is my lovely, beautiful, strong, girlfriend, Claire.”

Sam, Dean, Jody and Alex smiled as I sat back down, squeezing Claire’s hand.

“You know, Claire,” Dean said, drinking from his wine glass, “Sammy and I made a vow to always interrogate Y/N’s dates,” he said, raising an eyebrow at her before smiling softly, “but I think she picked a good one.”

Sam smiled as he nodded, agreeing with Dean. My eyes traveled over to Jody who was smiling, too, “I’d say Claire didn’t pick half bad, either...But,” she began, eyeing myself, Claire and Alex. “That doesn’t mean our talk is going undiscussed.”

I felt my eyes widen slightly as I slunk down against the chair I was sitting in, knowing exactly what kind of talk she was referring to, the tension in the room becoming tense.

“Oh, please no-”

“Hey, if we can’t talk about it, we shouldn’t be doing it, right?” Jody said, looking to Sam and Dean who sat silent, staring at her wide eyed, completely unsure of what to say. Jody sighed, realizing neither of them would be of any help as she clasped her hands together under her chin, “Okay, I’m not gonna tell you that you are too young to be having sex, or you two for that matter.” She said, motioning to Claire and I, “What I will tell you is that birth control pills are useless against STDs, in men or women! My roommate (@1863-project) and I have been talking about this for a bit, but it seems like maybe the pandemic/isolation has even affected quality of games lately?

We were talking about how everything in general seems to have dropped in quality (after I ordered a new piece of furniture and was sent half the parts in a different color and we had to call and ask for replacements and this was far from the first inconvenience with this store since 2020) but even games have been this way.

So much of Splatoon 3 suggests they’re out of touch with their fanbase. Nobody wants to lose their rank every “season” (heck, seasons seem pointless as you don’t pay to play the game like you usually do with games that have them), Table Turf is EXTREMELY hit or miss, but you can’t even play with other people at this point and get the same amount of points per win no matter which NPC you challenge, making leveling up a painful grind, Salmon Run still doesn’t give you any EXP and needs a lot of adjusting when it comes to Salmonid movement, player hitboxes, and the glowflies especially, Hero Mode demands perfection when the target audience is young teens (it’s just like Octo Expansion in too many ways but the difference is Octo Expansion wasn’t necessary to complete Splatoon 2′s Hero Mode)...and the bullying in Anarchy Battles is OUT OF CONTROL. Meanwhile the issue with the servers hasn’t been fixed at all despite having a few patches at this point. Whatever is going on feels half-baked and like the devs there forgot this game was intended for kids, and instead put out difficultly levels intended for pros and devs, suggesting maybe the devs got stuck in their own heads during the pandemic. Even the seasons feature would be for pros and devs because they can get their rank up quickly--casual players would barely get their rank up before losing it again. Either that, or they really just want you to play with friends, which it can be hard to find seven other people to play with if not all your friends like or own Splatoon, or can all play at the same time. Unfortunately and unintentionally, these things are gatekeeping casual fans from being able to enjoy the game much, or in the case of Anarchy Battles with random people, to even play the game.

The last three Pokemon games have been abysmal for various reasons. BDSP was outsourced and feels like a reskin of DP with very selective faithfulness to the originals. On the one hand we have only one button on the Poketch, the pacing hasn’t changed so it’s all grinding...basically it seems that the worst of Sinnoh has stayed. But on the other, we have quality of life updates such as Pokemon being able to follow you (which everyone wanted to return since HGSS), accessing the PC boxes from almost anywhere, HMs accessible from the Poketch (but disappointing as it’s the same Pokemon that help each time), and new rooms in the Underground to catch some Pokemon a lot earlier...yet they got rid of the Secret Bases for statues nobody wanted. “Faithful to the originals” seems to be a phrase they pull out only when faced with criticism for the games being nothing like what anyone had hoped for remakes, and for even being broken in some regards. BDSP feels like a game they definitely did not have time for, as well as one they may not have even wanted to make in the first place.

Everyone who’s been on my blog knows I hate PLA and that I haven’t played it in nearly 10 months. The biggest issue is the story; with all the dropped plotlines (INGO, the player character going home, what’s going on with the seemingly one-sided feud between Palina and Irida, the entire Daybreak Mission...to name a FEW) it really feels like multiple people worked on the story and none of them ever got to be in the same room, and they ran out of time and had to release the game as-is. In addition to this, the story contradicts itself a lot (”Pokemon are terrifying and humans and Pokemon must live separately!” yet from the start several people in Jubilife have a partner Pokemon, if not a team, the Diamond and Pearl Clans have several members who live alongside Pokemon, other regions are mentioned as already having people raising Pokemon and battling for fun, etc). As a result, the game feels incredibly unfinished and like the Pokemon Company (not Gamefreak) didn’t even care for it considering they announced Scarlet and Violet a month after its release...and PLA itself was released about two months after BDSP. Both games have been left without DLCs or major improvements, and PLA’s plot was just dropped, making it feel like development wasn’t able to fully come together and the corporate crunch just doesn’t want to have time to let anyone enjoy creating or playing these games before pushing out the next.

Scarlet and Violet...well, everyone is talking about how buggy they are. In addition to this, it’s still not truly “open-world” as you’re forced to do the Gym Challenge once again, and you have to do at least the Gym Challenge AND Titans if you want to be able to catch Pokemon at higher levels and access all areas on the map. The Gyms, Titans, and Team Star Bosses do not level to you so you either have to over-level your current party or be able to catch Pokemon of higher levels, meaning you WILL be doing the Gyms and you WILL be doing them in order according to the Gym Leaders’ Pokemons’ levels. The story could have been great, but gives too little too late. Starfall Street seemed to be the best-paced. Arven’s story gives you his motive early but doesn’t progress again until the final Titan. Nemona needed a lot much earlier because she unfortunately came off the wrong way to many people, as we don’t get any answers until the final part of the main gameplay and postgame. Often I find myself just riding around Paldea, looking for something to do because the trainers you find aren’t a challenge and there’s no sidequests, unless going to class and assisting your teachers counts, but these are more like playable cutscenes. This was a game that needed more time, but wasn’t given it. In many ways it feels like there was a schedule for programming things and once time was up on each segment, they weren’t allowed to go back. The overworld mechanics are much better in Arceus compared to SV, and it’s weird that being able to just throw balls at Pokemon, and have multiple Pokemon out in the overworld didn’t return...unless SV was programmed first and Arceus was actually where they improved things and weren’t able to go back to fix it for SV.

I’m just really wondering how much the pandemic affected how all these games turned out, as they were mostly likely being developed during the worst of it, and seem to be rushed as well as out of touch with what players have been wanting.

So he doesn’t struggle a whole lot often as much as Pearl does; however, he still struggles on picking up social cues (something that he and Pearl struggle with from time to time with eachother), likes to fidget with his prawn staches, and loves hyperfixating on fantasy-based RPGs! He and Rina’ used to play fantasy board games back in their days

> Pearl has much more severe needs compared to Sean. She requires some form of pressure (which helps her feel stimulated, or calm!) Hence, why she wears a pressure pad on her chest most of the time. She also loves hugs! Especially tight-pressure types of hugs (since she suffers from understimulation with her type of ASD). She also has textural food issues (such as hating to eat mayo), struggles more with social cues, and hates crowded places (or overstimulating events, such as Splatfests). She hyperfixates on plushies, technology, and cute things in general!
