All of this weird hybrid-ism stuff from Beastars is where I got my inspiration from to do the whole “Reverse Genetics” lore!

>> Hybrid and “Reverse Genetics” kids work on similar terms; albeit, “Reverse genetic” kids tend to have more minimal or lesser apparent traits that make it obvious that they’re even a hybrid in the first place:

Example:

>> Pearl only has octoling eyes (like, literally the ONLY indication that she has a hint of octoling genes in her). However, she does possess her mother’s turquoise tentacle coloring, and even mole placement!

Example 2:

>> Another interesting case of “Reverse Genetics,” Frye and Shiver! Surprisingly enough, Frye herself was a case of this phenomenon (with her biological mother having been an octoling!) And so, Frye actually possesses octoling-like eyes. Meanwhile, Shiver managed to inherit both of her amba’s/mother’s purple tentacle tips, triangle shaped eyebrows (yea I’m adding that in as an extra trait lol), and even inkling-like eyes.

>>> I like to imagine that the ‘idol eyes’ (aka, those starry, yellow eyes) that idols like the Squid Sisters, Pearl, and Frye all possess can ONLY be of an inkling origin. So that’s why lil’ Shiver’s got those starry red ‘idol’ eyes!

PSA FOR MY OOAC DESIGNS!

So yea, I FINALLY decided to draw what makes the OOAC and Canon designs HEAVILY DIFFERENT from eachother, due to fandom misconceptions and all of that!

Canon and OOAC Pearl: Canon Pearl is VERY confident and bombastic, compared to lil’ Pearl who would rather stay quiet (but DOES get sudden bursts of energy occasionally!)

Canon and OOAC Marina: Canon Marina would rather stay to herself (as how I see it), meanwhile, OOAC Marina has a more outgoing and chill demeanor (but she loves to mentor and be a “mother” figure to Canon younger Marina)

Canon and OOAC Frye: Canon Frye seems to be a bit “immature” just like how she dealt with the stuff in the Alterna Campaign. Meanwhile, ofc, OOAC Frye is more mature, and basically thinks of Canon Frye as her daughter “from another universe” 👀

Canon and OOAC Shiver: Big Sis Canon Shiver HATES OOAC little sis Shiver with a BURNING PASSION (they are the sisters of all time)

Needed to finally distinguish the two canons from one another, due to people thinking that they’re still the same idols with the same personalities and lore. Clearly, OOAC is its OWN universe and canon. I just wanted to point this out for those who are confused every time they see OOC stuff!

• After all the pain and suffering I had gone through in my life so far, from my college struggles, to figuring myself out… I made it out alive.

I finally learned to breathe, take in the chaotic yet beautiful world I live in, and accept things I can’t change… Without the support of all of my friends, family, everyone that I love and care for… I wouldn’t be here.

I also thank myself: for fighting on and on to keep moving forward, to take care of myself when I need to, and to just live.

If not for my “Octo Order and Control” AU, I wouldn’t be here. I dedicate this day, my own birthday on the 15th as an anniversary for all the hard work and talent that’s been put into this crazy project. From all the support that’s been garnered (no matter how small or big it was), this AU was my lifeline. And I hope, for many others in various ways as well…
