prompt: sweat (kinktober) || "slow down" by ozzy osbourne tags: beach volleyball leading to car sex, my final ode to summer, rated e (18+) notes: again, sort of a loose interpretation of today's @eddiemonth prompt but i did listen to "slow down" about a thousand times while i was writing this, so. enjoy!

He watches Steve catch the ball and pitch it toward the net, or – pitching probably isn’t the right word, whatever, who fucking cares, but he whacks it in the general direction of the volleyball net, and his arms flex and his back ripples as he does it, and Eddie looks from side to side to see if anyone else is fucking seeing this ?!

But everyone else looks relatively normal and – yeah. Okay. Fair enough.

Steve’s eyes find him on the sidelines, and his face is flushed and sweaty, smiling wide as he gives Eddie a little wave, and Eddie laughs to himself as he waves back, a little wiggle of his fingers and a lean forward in his beach chair, and this… Steve, sports Steve, waving at him from the court before slapping some other jocky dude on the back and running back into the game.

If sixteen year old Eddie could see himself now.

“You know he’s not going to give you his letterman jacket or whatever, right?” Robin asks from his left hand side as she flips a page in her book. “It would clash with your whole… thing, anyway, even if he did.”

He looks over at her long enough to make sure she sees him roll his eyes over top of his sunglasses, then focuses back on the game, which is moving forward with frankly incomprehensible rules that everyone else seems to understand, but honestly, he has no idea how. 

“It would look cool with my whole thing,” he says absently. “You just don’t like it when I enjoy things.”

“That’s not true,” she says. “I like it when you’re enjoying things that aren’t my best friend’s ass in his tiny, tiny volleyball shorts.”

The shorts really are something, though: neon blue and hot pink and skin, skin, skin, and – Eddie laughs, shooting her another sideways look. She’s technically ignoring him, but he can tell that she’s smiling behind the cover of whatever it is that she’s pretending to read under their shared beach umbrella. She’s wearing a bikini of her own with a giant floppy hat and one of Steve’s button up dress shirts, and she hasn't so much as moved from her chair since they planted their things in the sand.

“Aren’t you like… sporty, or whatever?” he asks, nudging her knee with one of his own. “You know way more about all this shit than I do. Why aren’t you paying attention?”

“Because I like to be contrarian,” she says, finally looking up to meet his eye. She dogears the page in her book and squints out across the loosely-outlined volleyball court toward the ocean. “And because I have a paper due next week, and if I don’t finish this book by then, I’m definitely going to fail, so.”

Eddie nods slightly. “Fair enough.” He links his hands between his spread knees, elbows on his thighs. “Maybe you should just do what I did. Join a band, get famous enough that it doesn’t matter whether you went to college or not.”

She snorts. “You’re not that famous.”

Ozzy Osbourne- Tribute Live in 1981

summary: oh my god. this fucking rocks. i've always really enjoyed black sabbath's paranoid album, so I went looking for a live version and oh.... my god. discovered this actual victory lap of a live album.

background: this tour happened just after ozzy left black sabbath in '79, and it features easily one of the best guitarists of all time: randy rhoads. i am floored that i hadn't heard rhoads perform before this album. this album could have been just the classic rock hits, but his performance makes this an ode to how fantastic rhoads' guitar skills are. tragically rhoads died in a plane crash while on tour with ozzy in '82, so this album was released in his honor in '87.

i don't know: epic guitar solo starting at 4:02- opening a concert with "o fortuna" (which apparently ozzy did a lot) is so funny like hell yeah opera and metal crossover

crazy train: epic guitar solo starting at 2:50- hell to the yeah classic ozzy song with rhoads going actually crazy on the guitar

believer: epic guitar solo from the start and 3:13- this feels like final boss music like i've got my master sword i've got a bow and arrow let's take down america

mr. crowley: epic guitar solo from 3:55- actual epic organ opening makes me feel like i'm inside a retro medieval fantasy arcade game

flying high again: epic guitar solo from 2:18- think its really funny that ozzy is yelling at the concert to keep smoking them joints like ok self aware icon

revelation (mother earth): epic guitar/piano crossover starting at 3:25-the tamest song on the album but when listening to the album in full it's very needed as a slow-down

steal away (the night): epic drum solo starting at 3:20- yeah you needed the slowdown of revelation cause this immediately begins to go crazy on the get-go

suicide solution: once it hits 4:45 it's just rhoads going actually crazy and the song is alright but DAMN rhoads can guitar

iron man: kinda bummed they didn't include the classic iron man voice in the background but the guitar throughout made up for it

children of the grave: epic guitar solo starting at 3:07- this became one of my favorite songs on the album i mean it's consistently epic and makes me feel connected to metalheads of ages past

paranoid: epic guitar solo starting at 1:21- we're gonna do PARANOIDDDDDD rahh rah rah rahnanana rahnanana rahhh rah rah rahnanana rahnanana

goodbye to romance: epic guitar solo starting at 2:50- had a sad girl moment where i laid on my floor and listened to this song a week ago and i've had an odd soft spot for this song since

no bone movies: epic guitar solo starting at 3:00- wait that's what he's saying? no bone movies? could not have told u a word he's saying the whole number

dee (randy rhoads studio outtake): i really like that they included this it's just a nice little guitar moment and its really calming

Jafel Filho submits Ode Osbourne in 1st!

One of the handful of fights I was interested in on this card. Filho makes quick work of Osbourne, dragging him down to the ground and working from top to get the RNC. Nice GnP to force Osbourne to twist and turn looking for relief. The takedown was cool. Got in deep on the waste of Osbourne who tried to wizzar out of position. Filho is able to close his grip and just pulls Osbourne back and over the top. Ends up in side control before moving to mount.

Interesting how many of these flyweight up and comers are stifling top control submission artist.
