So I've got this kinda wild headcanon that the captain and crew of the captured French ship in 2x05 recognized Frenchie from somewhere, perhaps his time in service.

If you take a close look, all their eyes go to him. The captain especially looks like he has a moment of recognition before quickly averting his eyes. It's a "blink and you'll miss it" moment.

Since we know so little of Frenchie's backstory, it's fun to theorize!

(Of course, it could also just be the crew recognizing he looks really hot when he's tying people up 👀)

I think that if Ed or Calico did something wrong on Hornigold's ship, Izzy would ALWAYS get blamed

Izzy would be like the hardest worker doing everything perfect but he wouldn't have Ed or Calico's charm and maybe he'd say one wrong thing and just get a beating. He'd want to be teacher's pet but Hornigold just never liked him. Ed was for sure his favorite with Jack following closely behind.

I hc Zheng as having trichotillomania bc of the offhand comment by auntie and just had a brain blast that nearly sent me to my knees.

Imagining that Alma also has trichotillomania and when Stede is out with the crew for drinks one time he sees Zheng twisting a hair between her fingers and tugging it mindlessly, sees Olu put his hand on her wrist and smile at her when she looks at him and sheepishly puts her hands in her lap where Olu picks one up to hold in his own.

And Stede’s heart clenches bc he recognizes that move and he knows these people and suddenly Alma’s compulsion doesn’t feel so big and scary and his tongue’s a bit loose from the booze and he leans over and with so much affection that Zheng cannot place, asks her “do you have trichotillomania?” and Zheng’s mouth just opens and closes and she looks at Olu who’s just as shocked and Stede is like ‘oopsies social faux pas ignore me’ and Zheng goes “no no I don’t mind I just…no one knows what that is you just surprised me.”

“Oh, I’m sorry it’s just - my daughter has that and she feels, well we feel kind of lost about what to do. We’ve never met anyone else with it.”

And Zheng gives him tips to pass along to Alma and how she appreciates having people approach her trich and even agrees to chat with Alma if she’d like that when Stede tells her about it and yes I’m projecting a deep desire for someone else in my life to understand my struggle and for a parent figure to be tripping over themselves to learn how to better help me but isn’t that so sweet???

Actually, I think Frenchie's reaction is important. Izzy falls and the rest of the crew gasps/looks horrified, but not Frenchie. He has remained dead still ever since Izzy stumbled into the room, and his silent gaze remains unbroken even as Izzy falls to the ground.

We see him have visible "whoa!" reactions to other stimuli in the show, so this was a bit out of character for him.

Why would he have such a lack of reaction? It can't be because he doesn't like or care for Izzy, since we saw him move to hold his hand and comfort him when he was spiraling (also very out of character! when Fang was breaking down, Frenchie just asked for his cake). He's not afraid of him either, since we saw him laying his head on Izzy's thigh in the previous episode (out of character STRIKE THREE YOU'RE GAY)

Call me delusional, but I think we are supposed to notice Frenchie not moving a muscle. It stands out against the rest of the crew's reactions. His eyes in this moment are concerned, but it's not an overly-pitying or shocked expression like the others.

If anything, it looks like he's thinking very hard. He looks very resolved in this moment when everyone else was scandalized, like he had already been watching Izzy's decline for a while now and in that moment he decided to do something about it.

I headcanon that it was his idea to make the leg. When Izzy crawled out of the room in disgrace, Frenchie finally shifts out of view. I bet he picked up those unicorn legs right after and put the idea to the crew.

TL;DR Frenchie has very out of character reactions when it comes to Izzy and I AM READY TO TALK ABOUT IT
