The "Continental" was considered the best hotel in Kiev, located on the modern-day Arhitektora Horodetskoho Street. The hotel featured steam heating, hot water, two elevators, electricity, and ventilation.

The Kyiv elite not only came to the restaurant to have dinner but also to socialize with friends and conduct business. The cost of a luxury room at the "Continental" was 15 rubles – half of an average worker's monthly salary.
In the basement of the hotel, members of the "HLAM" club (Artists, Writers, Musicians, and Actors) would gather. Among them, one could meet Pavlo Tychyna, Georgy Narbut, Les Kurbas, and many others. In the evenings, poets recited their verses and received free food – porridge, bread, and tea.

Romans 7:6 (KJV) - But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Look I love unconditional devotion love stories as much as the next person, but there's really something so deliciously raw about conditional devotion.
I have served you and I have loved you for decades, but I will not give up my principles for you. You cut out part of my heart and took it with you down that path that you insist on walking, but you walk it alone. Even when the bleeding, gaping hole you left in my chest kills me, I will not follow you.

“The old magic persists thanks to it’s unfathomable power.”
No, the old magic persists because the new magic can’t run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don’t want or need onto my orb.

in honor of 4chan exploding, I want to remind you all that they used to do “raids” on Tumblr.
they tried to flood the popular tags with gore and porn. this was when Homestuck was at its peak, so they were a target too. (side note: tags barely functioned at all at this point so trying to make them useless was like throwing a molotov into an already burning building but try telling that to 4channers)
but the Homestuck fandom was ready and countered by flooding the tag with weirder, more explicit Homestuck porn and gore.
to the point that the trolls themselves got weirded out, fucked off, and never attempted a “raid” again.
everyone moved on but I stayed there because that is one of the funniest fucking things to happen on this website.

"Château de Fleurs"
In 1863, a French entrepreneur opened the entertainment venue "Château de Fleurs" (Castle of Flowers) on the site of the modern-day Dynamo Stadium. The cafe-chantant, as it was called in French style, housed a restaurant, concert halls for performances, a dance hall, a summer theater, and a beer bar. It also featured the city's only park with a paid entrance fee of 40 kopecks on the busiest days. Dining at "Château de Fleurs" was also available only by subscription, costing from 9 to 15 rubles per month, depending on the number of meals one could have per day.
Tumblr media
The name of the park fully reflected its concept. The park was adorned with flower beds featuring a wide variety of flowers.
Tumblr media
Every season at the Château was marked by the emergence of a new pop star, a new spectacle, or attraction.
Tumblr media
Ivan Nechui-Levytsky( Ukrainian writer, one of the founders of Ukrainian realism. His works are known for their depth and humanism)described the Château in his novella "Clouds":
..."At the Château, there was a grand celebration. The posters announced that that evening there would be Tyrolean songs sung in the garden, then fireworks would be set off, and at the end, Bengal lights and a fireworks display. A large crowd gathered! The entire Château in the valley was filled with masses of people."

An old map where the Château de Fleurs still exists
Château de Fleurs closed in 1894 due to financial difficulties and changes in management. Later, Dynamo Stadium was built on its site.

generally you shouldn't write run-on sentences because they get confusing and it doesn't give the reader a break. that doesn't apply to me though my run-on sentences are fun and understandable and they have a rhythm to it that makes you want to keep reading
