Jason... He's frozen. Every muscle in his body is locked as he tries to process the information. Deep down, past the onslaught of numbness and passive dissociation within his brain, several emotions and past experiences rage against each other.

He's not fully present as his lips creak open. "What?"

Tim, observing the older's state, pauses. He winces at his possible misstep and the obvious distress it's causing. "I-"

A omnious creak sounds out as Jason grips his holstered gun. "What did you just say?"

The numbness is being washed away by rage, and Tim nervously notices. He swallows. He can't tear his eyes from the threat in front of him even though the aggression sends bolts of fear into his intestines.

Jason removes his gun but doesn't point it at the younger man.

Tim's eyes flicker down to the gun and then back up to Jason's face. He nods slowly and shifts into a slightly more defensive position. "Superman stopped Batman from killing the Joker."

Jason stills once more.

He checks behind his shoulder before his head gradually swivels back to Tim. Even through the helmet, Robin can feel the oppressive gaze checking over him.

Red Hood doesn't find any wounds. There's no quickness of breath, frantic eye movement, or twitching. Tim is wary, but he's fully aware. He's not under any influence.

"Bruce was going to kill Joker?"

Robin slides a foot backward. He nods.

Jason's hands twitch. "Superman stopped him?"

Another nod.

"Why?"

The other foot slides back.

Red Hood takes a step forward.

They both freeze.

Jason is poised to leap for Tim and the younger one isn't certain he'd be able to escape. He grasps one of the batarangs as he answers.

"Joker somehow became Iran's ambassador. An American vigilante associated with the Justice League murdering the ambassador of a foreign country would have started World War Three."

Every line in Jason's body is tense. His muscles start to tremble with the sheer force and pressure he's exerting over them. His breathing becomes audible and distorted through the helmet as his chest heaves.

"Bruce was going to kill the Joker."

Tim nods.

"Superman stopped him."

Another more hesitant nod.

"Batman never tried again."

Robin grimaces.

Red Hood nods to himself. His head turns away from Robin as he tries to process his bitter acceptance at the inevitability against the crushing weight of disappointment when he had foolishly hoped differently. Jason knew, especially after his confrontation with Batman, that the man wouldn't have tried to avenge him. A crapshoot one-time effort doesn't count when Batman has access to finish the job at any point that clown is rotting in Arkham. The only part that's changed is Red Hood's opinion on the Boy Scout.

He should be used to heroes failing him by now.

Tim, as he sees the fury tightly coiled in Red Hood's fists and the sag in his shoulders, clears his throat. When the eyes of the helmet peer back at him, he tries to defend them.

"It was the right choice."

With the rage suddenly being pointed towards Tim, the teen can't help but flinch.

"What?"

Robin's hand fiddles with his collar as he uncertainly bites his lip. His eyes drift between the very angry man and various escape routes.

Red Hood snarls. "What the fuck do you mean by 'it was the right choice?'" With an angry stomp, he crowds Tim's space until he's towering over the younger kid. "Tell me what you mean by that, Pretender!"

Robin swallows nervously as he raises both hands in front of him. His palms face Jason in both an appeasement gesture as well as in preparation to push away the older teen if it calls for that. Despite the prickling stings of fear and anxiety, Tim continues. He's not one to back down from a threat.

"I mean exactly that. If Batman had killed Joker, it could have drawn America into a war with Iran. Superman made the right choice."

"You think- You-" A frustrated and pained growl leaves Jason's throat as he takes a step back. A hand drifts his helmet as he tries to calm his erratic breathing.

The crime lord releases a bitter laugh and takes another step back. "You actually believe that."

Tim doesn't respond.

There's another huff of resigned humor from Jason at this. "Of course you do." He takes another step back as he shakes his head. "Of course. What was I thinking?"

Red Hood grits his teeth. "Right. Yeah."

His gaze seems to drift to the city as he tries to order his thoughts. His emotions war in his mind, but overall he just feels tired.

"Batman was right not to kill the Joker. What else was I expecting?"

Favorite Minor Character:

We Vanguard fans are SERIOUS about our side characters! Let's show some love to the fantastic characters that were given a jarring lack of content in the series! Maybe your favorite character overall is a member of the main cast, but now it's time to pick somebody from the sidelines to appreciate just as much!

Sick Fic:

What a classic we've got here today, folks. You don't necessarily have to write a fic for this (though it's totally encouraged)! Just create anything you want involving those down days. Characters getting sick in fiction can help show off so many neat and hidden traits, so be creative and make whatever you see fit (or not fit, because somebody is sick)!

Pets:

PETS! What more could you even ask for? We've got only a few pets to thrive off of in the show, so lets show some love to them… or maybe think up some original ones! Maybe somebody has a secret pet, or maybe there was a random line of dialogue about a pet at some point? Who knows what could happen, but it ought to be great.

We've got SO many to choose from! And not even just the main teams like Q4 and TRY3; how about silly little teams like the iconic Miwa-Morikawa-Izaki-Emi squad? Go wild! Now here's something real intriguing… PSYQualia was the fictional power used to communicate with the Planet Cray and the illustrated cards that came from it, but it had drawbacks. Will you represent it in its corruptive origins, or its positive future? Go for it!

Memories:

I'm sure everyone has some kind of fond memories that came from Vanguard, or maybe you'll want to represent how memories are presented by the characters! A large amount of the series revolves around memories, surprisingly enough- Misaki's whole life is pretty much centered around them, and Seasons 2 and 4 seriously threw us for a doozy. Let's make this a day to remember!

Day 3: Favorite Outfit | Fluff | Magic AU

Favorite Outfit:

YIPPEE!!! Maybe that's a little exaggerated, but c'mon- who doesn't love a good outfit. Vanguard's got some seriously cool fits, if not just for the characters, then on the card art! Look around and find your inspiration, or maybe even create an outfit you'd think would be a fan favorite!

Fluff:

No one could ever lie and say they don't like fluff. Sweetness, love, care, and everything in-between. It can be soft, tooth-rotting, comforting! Do as you please and pick out your favorite fantasies for this one, we're sure it'll be more than appreciated.

Magic AU

Vanguard has its fair share of magical elements! But what if they got taken in slightly different way, a step to the left? Or maybe even a leap! Are they all wizardly figures? Magical girls? Maybe there's just something 'magical' in the air? Go wild, throw out a magic-based alternate universe!

Day 4: Favorite Relationship | Betrayal | Cray & Lore

Favorite Relationship:

Besties, lovers, enemies, and everything in-between, everyone loves a compelling relationship. But which one is your favorite? Are you enamored with the way some characters hate each other? Uh oh… There's no shortage of evil in Vanguard, and betrayal can come from anywhere. Does it coincide with the Reverse, PSYqualia, or maybe just human nature? Pick an act of betrayal or make up your own, because - no matter what, it's gonna hurt real good.

Can you even believe there's 196 episodes JUST in the original run, and hundreds more after that? With all that Vanguard, you're bound to have some favorite episodes! Let's all skim through the runs and pick a favorite to represent, there's so so so many to enjoy!

Family comes in all shapes and sizes, and the Vanguard characters became a family over and over again, without a doubt. Choose a family in Vanguard, by blood or not, to create for, and enjoy!

We've got TWO BIRTHDAYS THIS WEEK! Today is Mamoru Anjou's birthday, and Kourin Tatsunagi's is on the 13th of October! Show them some extra love, or maybe pick another birthday to celebrate! We love our characters, and their birthdays, whether fictional or not, are always fun.

Day 6: Favorite Clan | Crossover | Secret Identity

Favorite Clan:

I know, I know… This might be an impossible task. But we have to try! Pick a Vanguard clan that you can call your favorite, and show it some appreciation! This can extend out to newer or old standards of clan systems, in any way you like!

Crossover:

Vanguard has endless opportunities to pair up with other series, it's all pretty open! Crossovers are ALWAYS FUN, and it's refreshing to play with other media that we also love! Maybe one of your favorite shows has Vanguard cards in it now, or maybe Vanguard characters are in the book you're reading or new anime you're watching! Who knows, have fun!

Secret Identity:

Oooh… A secret! There's already representation of this trope in Vanguard plenty of times! Remember Ninja Master M, and the Team Unknown debacle? The time Kyou was the Abominable Snowman? Maybe even make up your own, go wild! Whether it's online or behind a mask, there's plenty of ways to hide your identity. But remember- it's a secret!

Day 7: Favorite Parallel | Endings & New Beginnings | FREE

Favorite Parallel:

Contrasting motives in media is probably one of the most exciting things I could ever think of. What contrasts and parallels do you see in Vanguard? Blaster Dark and Blaster Blade, perhaps? Character arcs, episode structures, the lore of the cards and the journey of our protagonists... There's parallels everywhere. Delve deep for this one, and find something really interesting to analyze!

Endings and New Beginnings:

Vanguard has some of our absolute favorite endings and beginnings ever, so why not go ahead and show them off? The transition of each arc, each era, each generation, is something to be celebrated. May it be the end of a big tournament, or the beginning of a new season altogether, or something totally different and unexpected!

chase is entirely innocent to me cause his actions are a product of his environment (will explain below, spoilers and just. mcs generally)

logically chase couldnt be older then 10 years old, since he came out of his mother when she died (10 years ago). even if we are to be entertaining the idea he is this omnious '10' he insists, he still looks and even acts similar to a 10 year old boy. for a regular boy, this is around when puberty starts and where emotions get very fucky, and while chase is no human and probably has different anatomy or psychological things, if he had the similar mindset of a 10 year old, it's very likely the impressionability is still there.

we also have to take into account: richard is the only adult figure in chases life. yes, chase interacts with other adults and shit, but the only one who'd know his secret is richard, which can be used to his advantage. richard is also chases biggest human example. hes around him a lot and as such the main influence in his appearance, behavior, disguises, etc. if anybody else were to learn chase werent human, the company could have chase been captured or worse, so its not ideal to tell others.

we all know how sexual richard is. i mean, hes the whole reason ep 2 has to come with a warning. HE FUCKED A LADY TO DEATH. now one may argue chase should be held accountable for this needed warning too, but consider: hes a product of the environment hes lived in. a monster hunter while a monster? no monster would choose that, not unless you were taught to. i doubt chase has actually been to multiple public places due to his difficulty with disguises (ie: doctors, schools, etc), so whod be teaching him what he knows? richard.

dont even try to tell me that richards a good dad even! a canon thing he tells chase is to "bottle up his emotions"! he hid what happened to his mother for several years! hes very loose when it comes to his parenting! im such a richard hater because he sucks as a parent and as a person man.

however, even with all that, chase looks up to his dad, and it is his dad. hed believe what his dad says is right. hed probably even take after behaviors of his dad, because its the only influence in his life that has seemed positive.

can chase be held accountable for his horrid sexual acts if hes been told thats right? can you hold the one who doesnt know right in the wrong?

chase is practically 10 years old. richard is the one whod know better. chase just listens to all about humans hes known. richard just gives a new meaning to monsters.

despite appearances, i truly believe the monster is richard and the human among them is chase.

GOs2 Rewatch: ep 6 - threats and pressure

I just rewatched Ep6 today, and noticed a lot more this time

- Aziraphale first says "I think I have made my position perfectly clear"

- He says he doesn't want to go back when Metatron offers

- Michael threatens him with erasure from the Biok of Life, but Metatron makes the angels go away, basically shows Aziraphale that he can save him

- Metatron threatens and then offers Aziraphale the power to reinstate Crowley as angel and be together.

- Aziraphale still does not know that his job would be to end Earth (only Crowley knows that, and he does not get the chance to tell Aziraphale properly about this!)

- Aziraphale almost runs to Crowley / refuses to go: first in the bookshop, then in the street. He wants to go to him badly, but Metatron is pressuring him (and Metateon knew Crowley wiuld never agree)

There is definitely something sinister going on with Metatron (and that damned coffee!).

Also note that Metatron's lapels are pointing down, his clothes are dark brown, the music is fucking OMNIOUS. Well at least we all know it is gonna be ok in S3 and he will yet fetch his comeuppance!

Another day down! I'm still a bit bored. I understand that there are many moving pieces in this story, but still, too much time is spent on parts that I don't think it needs to be spent on. Yet again, I'm hoping that things will improve as the Sanderlanche gets closer.

Red Versus Blue. (Part 2)

I began working on the concept of the location. At first, I went imaginative with the digital canvas and drew the simple idea of a little human and a big structure.

First sketch Idea for this assignment.

I thought more on the idea of the scene and decided to create a scene, where the character and a building will represent the idea of red coming into contact with blue.

After creating a quick sketch, I decided to try to block the scene in a 3D world.

During this stage - I usually tweak objects, and their inner parts and correct their position to make them look good on the camera. I also did a small pose with a doll to try to highlight the idea of the character colliding with the scene.

After satisfying myself with the positioning, and confirming that I like the initial concept of the idea, I began working more on the scene.

First thing first, I need to work on the power line itself.

I had a little fun with the model, thinking of ways how to make it look interesting.

I modelled the entire mesh with simple vertices and edges to follow the pattern - Then I applied the skin modifier. While I enjoyed the initial proportions, I didn't like the size of cable hands themself. The problem is that I wanted this to feel like a megastructure from an ancient civilisation, and if it's an ancient, powerful civilisation, I wanted to make it bigger.

So I have decided to make the arms bigger, and in addition - add a large omnious material that would be held by a power line. 

Next, I will apply the texture and do a little work on the environment.

I know this was probably meant to be read in the context of Damian's view of legacies (as Al Ghul, son of the Batman, Robin etc.) and the weight of the responsibility of those legacies, but the first time I read that issue it reminded me of this and I can't unsee it now:

"You will fill your dad's shoes someday. Nobody can stop it. Not even you." but in an encouraging way, that he WILL measure up to those expectations. It's just who he is and he can't change that. IDK I just really love the idea that Damian's idea of a heartfelt encouragement and expression of faith in his best friend would be omnious positivity lmao. It just fits

Generally, she's not wrong here. In real life that's how the bad guys mostly are and there are even real life examples (like Josef Mengele) who used charm and lies to fulfill their own cruel purposes.

But with the Darkling it fails because he has a selfless goal and was never a self-centred character. She presented a character that has lived for hundreds of years, witnessed first hand a genocide that was still ongoing by the start of the trilogy and is one of the victims of this persecution.

It's very easy to judge with your finger while sitting at the comfort of your house but when you are being hunted for powers that you are born with, when they cut you to pieces like a guinea pig, when they burn you alive to pyres and when there is no safe place on Earth to stay, rest easy and live then the terms "good deeds" and "bad deeds" feel unimportant in the face of survival.

And the Darkling felt responsible to try and save thousands of them. He felt that with his near immortality and power he could do something to shift things on a large scale.

And how can things like that change?

With big decisions.

But, alas, these same decisions needed to be cruel and therefore condemned him to be seen as evil and a monster.

So even though her view is not wrong, she tried to present it with the wrong character whose goal was sympathetic and incredibly difficult to fulfill since he was surrounded by people that didn't want him and hated his guts.
