Hermitcraft 6 era fandom had its shitty parts (for obvious reasons) but at least the fics were an actual, genuine attempt at ensemble cast fics in which every hermit is mentioned and has a relevant contribution to the plot even if it’s OOC. Like yes they were Grian centric, but it didn’t straight up erase other hermits. The background hermits did something vaguely related to what their HC was doing, even if it was shallow and stereotyped (eg. healer Stress).
I really think Lifeseriesification made it less easy to engage with HC server as a whole. Like back during HC7, I didn’t need to watch someone to know what they’re doing because it would pop up in the fandom. I miss when I cared about everyone. Maybe I grew out of the fandom but the fandom also grew out a lot of its fans and it’s becoming recognisable. You can feel the entire atmosphere shift if you take a scroll through a 2021 dash vs a 2025 one.

I had a few quick thoughts in the middle of the night when i read your prompts and comments, so, i thought: ''Just made this roleplay blog a week ago and i'm too insecure to ask anyone for roleplay''
But here i am, reading to get some inspiration even if i don't roleplay right now or have mutuals because everything is foreign to me, thank you very much, at least i can daydream about silly scenarios :")
hi my friend! let me start by thanking you for sending this in, i'm so glad you like my prompts, and i'm very touched that you reached out! i also wanna say that you can absolutely skip the next two paragraphs, i'm waffling, i love waffling, i refuse to change this about myself!
now i wanna respond with a few little-known facts about myself. when i first joined tumblr, years and years ago, i made a natasha romanoff blog because i thought it'd be the best way to start up in the rpc. it took me a month, a MONTH, to so much as follow another soul on that blog. and it was a mess, like i didn't have a rules page, i didn't have a bio, i had very limited understanding of the rpc, i was just this teenager who was beyond pumped to write with people! then i realized my anxiety outweighed the excitement and i did nothing for a solid month.
then, after that month, i guess i just chose a rare moment of confidence to start following people, and they helped me massively, i still write with them to this day! but part of the reason that i wasn't hitting it off with a lot of people was because i really didn't feel comfortable writing natasha romanoff. like, it felt like an obligation. and i suppose i picked her to please people, and i'll always stand by this, it was the dumbest thing i ever did! so then i started writing my female OC, and i am still so lucky to have surrounded myself with friends who love and support her to this day, and because i was passionate about writing her story, i began to gain more mutuals! bc people can pick up on that, yk? they can always tell when you're really invested in something. i wrote five paragraphs about my OCs moisturiser (nivea) and honestly i'm very proud of it!
'blue, why are u talking about this?' excellent question! it's because in the month i was literally taking a vow of silence, i still scrolled through the dash. i wanted to understand the rpc in my own space! i read prompt lists, headcanons, ooc posts, threads, drabbles, metas, you name it. and while i was reading them, like you mentioned, it DID feel foreign!! and that's the BEST way to describe it! it's a whole new language, a whole new set of rules and norms and systems to understand! isn't it absolutely wild how we just expect people to figure it out over night?? madness! you're doing so so well just by being here and getting yourself familiar with this place! even if you spend the next year just reading prompts and thinking of scenarios, you're still doing a fantastic job!
tumblr can be a fantastic place, but it's still a brand new experience, and most of us have been here for so long that we understand the general gist of what's going on. we know the good, the bad and the ugly sides of everything. and what i always strive for in this particular blog is to have a space where people can ask for help and support one another, because let's be honest, if we can't do that, then why on earth are we calling ourselves a community? so if you have any questions, or if you want some help, please don't be scared to ask! i can already tell that you've got the perfect mindset for the rpc!

Hello! I'm interested on maybe RPing with you (particularly bc of Don Diego) but I was worried on your opinion to rp with relatively new people on the Tumblr RP scene/just starting peeps?
+ (since you are one of the only rp blogs/people i follow) wanted to know if you have any tips/suggetions/guide/posts that you can share with me about how RPing in Tumblr works? Like if there is a posting etiquette and such. It would be very appriciated.
Thanks for your time!
Well gosh, howdy! Thanks for sending this ask! (Really? You wanna RP with Diego? ;u; I'm so happy!)
I have zero qualms with RPing with people new to RP! How is a person supposed to learn if they don't get to interact with more experienced people?
The number one rule of Tumblr RP is: no metagaming. This means that you are in control of your character, not your partners. Say the two characters are in a fight. You can say your character shoots at your partner's, but you can't say that it hits. That's up for your partner to decide. However, you can ask them if you can write x thing about their character. For example, after making sure it's okay, "She took his arm and pulled him along with her." Gotta make sure your partner's character would go with yours before assuming that they would.
Number two: Always read their rules. If they don't seem to have any, feel free to ask them. (I actually have an ask I'm going to answer right after this about that very subject.)
Don't reblog RPs that you aren't helping to write. Most people also don't want any interactions at all with their RPs if you're not involved in it. (I, for one, don't mind people liking my threads, but I don't want people who aren't involved to reblog them, either.)
IC = in character (writing as your character/muse) OOC = out of character (writing as yourself)
Other than that, it's largely preference. I, for one, don't use icons, and I don't use fancy formatting. I write as though I'm writing a fanfic. (I've been at this a long time. XD) But I also don't mind if other people do use icons and formatting when RPing with me!
A lot of people have a "mutuals only" rule (as in they'll only RP with people who are mutuals with them). I don't have such a rule. This is a side blog, and I have so many sideblogs, if I followed everyone who followed me, my dash would be such a cacophony that I wouldn't ever get through an entire scroll through. What I do instead is use rpthreadtracker.com to keep track of my threads. It's a good practice to get into, in general, because that way you won't miss replies, even if Tumblr's being weird and glitchy and not showing activity.
The best way to start IC interactions with people is to send them memes. Most people also don't want you reblogging meme/prompt posts directly from them (especially if you don't send them a meme/prompt from it). Go to the source, or at least far enough back that it's an inactive RP blog or a blog dedicated to RP memes/prompts.
And also, this is important to me, but it's not important to everyone, I get much more invested in my RPs if I build an OOC rapport with my partner. If I feel like we're friends, I'm much more likely to want to get to those replies.
I hope this is a good jumping off point, and I hope it doesn't scare you off! Thanks for reaching out, I genuinely really do appreciate it! 💚

Munday Mumbling Asks - send a number for me to talk about one of the following topics!
6. Excessive OOC
Tumblr media
I must say I only had a few occasions on this blog where I have witnessed excessive OOC behaviours. Also, it's a bit hard to determine what is 'excessive', it's all very subjective, so I will list a few examples that come to mind and could fit the definition.
First of all, I don't mind OOC posting about a mun's worldbuilding, characters, writing approach, headcanons on their muses and so on. If anything, I really like to read about them, they give me a lot more insight on their creative approach and are a big source of inspiration for threads to suggest them! The only excessive aspect I might think of it is when there is A LOT of that and... None of the actual interactions. Aka: it's great to read about all this stuff, my friend, but if you don't actually offer any chance to put this into practice and roleplay with you, it might feel a bit pointless. I had instances of finding very interesting blogs, but once I scrolled through their posts, it was a lot of OOC talking and... None of the writing. Which makes me a bit suspicious about what to expect from it, so I might choose not to followe because I like to keep my dash focussed on RPing as much as possible. The fact that I live in a GMT zone which is different from most of my mutuals makes it challenging to follow dash activity already, so I'd like not to fill it with content that wouldn't be relevant to my hobby here if possible.
Another instance of excessive OOC that comes to my mind (again, according to my perspective), is toxic OOC. We all get salty, it's human, but if every post a person makes OOC is to throw shade and sourness at others / the dash / anything in a constant manner without ever considering dialoguing, my wish to interact with them will plummet. It's not too different from real life stuff -- no one likes to engage with someone who is constantly negative and criticises everyone and everything, and I personally prefer when issues are discussed (and hopefully fixed) rather than casually dropping complaints and never being proactive in making the situation better (and fixing the issue in private where it's due rather than ranting about it publicly). The odd moment of irritation is fine, but if looking back one realises that they are constantly irritated about anything, well, maybe they should consider if it's not a matter of the way they process stuff, and whether it would be worth changing approach. Again, this is just my two cents on the matter.
8. Reblog karma
Tumblr media
I am a fan of reblog karma -- in fact, it's in my rules. This is for a couple of reasons: one, I have been treated as a source of memes by certain blogs that followed me but never cared to interact, write, or even reach out, only reblogged the memes I shared and that was it; as I find it quite rude, I usually give it three strikes until I choose to block the blog because of it. Second, which is kinda linked to the former, because RPing, while being a personal hobby, does happen in a community, hence why I think that, as a common effort to keep the fun going and interactions flowing for everyone's amusement, it's a simple matter of kindness to send an ask to the blog we reblog a meme from -- it takes 0 seconds, it fulfills the purpose that meme was reblogged for by the RPing blog in the first moment, and it enhances the possibilities of more people engaging in the meme/game and make it all more enjoyable for everyone.
I completely understand that sometimes you might not have a way/reason to send a certain ask to said mun, not even on anon. But that's why I think that, in this case, is just better to reblog the meme from the source (that's what memes blogs are there for!). I personally prefer to engage as much as possible, but if people don't, reblogging from meme blogs/sources helps them thrive, takes nothing, takes the burden off your shoulders, and doesn't make the other user feel 'used'. Again, a personal opinion.
25. Your character
Tumblr media
Oh boy. What to say about Mariko? I can't believe I have been writing her for... Eight years now. It's sweet to say how she has changed in the meantime, and at the same time, how she hasn't changed at all, which makes me both proud and annoyed about her.
Well, let's start with the positive stuff I guess. I am happy that Mariko seems to draw in sympathy from the crowd. I've had a few people telling me she's well written and feels 'alive', which I'm glad to hear (especially considering that I really could treat her in a way more serious way when I write her). I do my best to make her flawed and as imperfect as possible, not becuase of the 'Mary Sue' complex (we all grew past it I think), but mostly because I think flawed characters are the most intriguing ones, and imperfections are great triggers to spike rich threads.
On the other hand, I wish I could write Mariko in a more 'serious' way sometimes. Part of the reason why it doesn't happen is my own selectivity, both in terms of mutuals (not a massive issue here, I consider myself kinda lucky, it's just that simply I need the right muses sometimes), and in terms of story. There are certain narrative knots in Mariko's storyline which I wish could go in a specific way, but I don't want to force anyone on it. Like, the way she finds out she descends from Goku -- it would really challenge her perspective on her life, her predjudices on his historical figure and so much more, and I would like to dedicate it as much time and introspection as possible, but I know this is my need and mine only.
The issue with Mariko is that she isn't born out of a story I had in my mind already; I just wrote down the premises (her life on Earth) but everything about her story from once she arrived in Conton onwards has been litterally shaped by RP interactions. Which has been beautiful, and unexpected, and lots of fun! Some key threads (like the ones with her mentors, with Fu, with Shallot) did a lot to make her grow in Conton, and by accomodating to mutuals turnover and so on, other opportunities to develop her came naturallly -- Mariko's devotion to her mentors, for example. The mutual who wrote both Nappa and Raditz back then is no longer active, which sparked a sense of 'abandonment' in Mariko's character, a nostalgia for her acquired family in Conton, and a need to cling on their figures whenever possible, reflected in later threads with @risingsouls). So yeah, by extension, Mariko's storyline relies a lot on the interactions I get here. Which, while it can be creative and surprising, it can also limit my chances to explore the character because of this approach, based on the availability or people/threads/muses/anything.
Another "issue" (kinda) I have with Mariko is the way she grew. I decided to progressively age her at some point, so each year that passes is a year she gains. Mariko is currently 23 (or 24? Did I update it this last July??), and I might decide to stop at some point, or not. However, not sure if because of her faceclaim appearance, or because of her attitude, or because people first interacted with her when she was younger, I still struggle to make her come across as more mature -- she seems crystallized in a trope that I struggle to free her from, and it can be frustrating because sometimes I feel like it hinders chances of more serious topics and threads involving her. Maybe it's also the way I write her, and the bratty attitude she has at times. Then again, it is really part of her personality, and while she has become more mature over the years, it's hard to picture her without her 'youthful spark' at times. Not sure. Inputs and constructive criticisms are more than welcome, as always.

alright im gonna take a second to talk about the whole "mutuals" thing so yall know my stance here: just because im not mutuals with you doesnt mean i dont wanna write with you. i follow people based on what i want my dash to look like, if you start posting a bunch of content for a fandom im not familiar with, i might unfollow you. if you post many many things in a short amount of time consistently, i might unfollow you. if you post a lot of ooc things, i might follow you. this is just to keep my dash less chaotic and easier for my brain to scroll through. i am not mutual exclusive, if i really dont wanna write with you for whatever reason, i will do the whole soft block Thing so that you arent following me anymore as well as me not following you. if you still see my stuff on your dash but im not following you i still am willing to write with you.
on a different note, dont just follow me to write smut, thats not what im here for. writing such a thing with me requires either plotting as to why its happening or after seeing what the chemistry is with our characters. while i do enjoy the occasional smut thread, theres truly very little that differs between them after a while and it simply get redundant and boring to me.
as always feel free to ask me questions and such, anon or dm i dont care im always happy to clarify if anyone needs it <3

gone through a mass unfollow, unfollowing blogs who either: -never responded to me ic or ooc -are used as personals too -post a LOT/only stuff that I have no interest in due to personal tastes or not knowing the fandoms, depending on the blog (could be myths, could be history, could be a fandom I don't like, could be a current interest in a character I cannot stand) -maybe I feel we don't click as rpers (could be style, could be what we want from our threads, could be our characters' relationship)
this is because I realized that when I check my dash I often have to scroll for a while before I find rp-related posts from people I actually write with. YOU DO YOU, keep posting whatever you want in your blogs, don't take this as judgment, you have the right to roleplay as you please and find people who like your blog the way it is, just like I'll keep posting a lot of headcanons and memes! It's just because I want my dash to be something I fully enjoy looking at, not something I try to quickly scroll past because it's 'not my thing' 90% of the time.
I want to put MY tastes and my mental health first so I hope this post is enough to make clear it's not personal (I'd rather not give any more explanations/justifications, my guilt acts up sometimes and if anyone pushes it I will block them)

how does one become mutuals with you? i’ve lowkey been stalking your blog since seeing you in the tags and your writing is so beautiful but im a lil nervous to interact ASDFH
Tumblr media
ahhh, hi hi!! omg 💜 thank you for the kind words 💜 so, since i'm not a mutually exclusive blog, i will write with both mutuals && non-mutuals. i don't follow back everyone who follows me, actually i will usually wait until we have written together a little bit, or have had some ooc plotting take place. the reason for this is just as simple as i get kind of anxious with a fast dash, or watching a lot of writers post that i don't write with.
i also regularly go through who i follow, and unfollow blogs that i haven't written with yet, or with for awhile, or that i just don't know how to get something going with. this does not mean i won't refollow later if we do start a thread, i probably will! i just keep a very curated feed for my own comfortability. otherwise i'll just doom scroll forever.
so.... i don't know if i answered the question, exactly? haha i'm sorry for rambling. i'm not scary, i promise!! i don't reply to everyone, naturally, as i do have selective traits (usually if you don't use small text, have no muse info on your blog, utilize triple spacing / extremely stylized formatting, every single one of your replies is 1-liners, or if you're a canon blog only), but i try to give everything a shot. the best way to write with me is to answer one of my opens, or send me an ask meme (bonus points if you specify muse!!) and i'll probably become mutuals after a bit once our writing takes off. 💜

Would you ever consider bringing something like this to tumblr? Not really super into discord but would love to be apart of something like this!
Probably not, we've ran e-feds on Tumblr before and having it on discord this time around has honestly made a huge difference that has kept us running like a well oiled machine for nearly three years.
We have several channels that makes finding information about the group a hundred times easier. We have tabs that act like a cagematch.net, posting match results, keeping record of title runs and tournament winners, so when new people join our group, it'll be a lot easier to catch up on the past (because we have a lot of it lol). And we have a tab just for the weekly match cards and PPV cards, so you can find them a whole lot easier than scrolling through the dash trying to find the post.
We also have channels for in character interactions, where we use MyOC bot to have in character conversations amongst the group, post pictures and statuses like Twitter/Instagram/etc, or have your own private channel for your character and others to have secret discussions 👀.
But most importantly, we have an OOC tab where we all watch a long with the show (and sometimes other wrestling shows) which gets everyone invested in the dash, and helps us become closer in the long run.
Discord may not be for everyone, but we do hope with this information you might still want to give us a chance. 😊

☯ : Do you prefer to wing it or to plot things out first when it comes to longer threads?
i think it depends. when it comes to shipping, i do like to have some plot or at least a storyline behind it. but otherwise i am down for winging it.
✎ : What is your favorite genre to write for in roleplay?
angst and fluff. angst and fluff. angst and fluff. angst and fluff.
⚡ : What typically leads to inspiration for you when it comes to writing?
music does a lot to be honest. certain shows will get me to write more -- usually horror for some reason. also i think the ooc relationship with my writing partner will make me have more ideas/inspiration too.
➳ : When creating OCs, what do you typically start with first? (i.e. appearance, name, a theme, etc.)
so sometimes i see a face and i'm like 'yep that's it' and then i tend to build around that.
♚ : What’s something you just can’t stand and will unfollow someone over?
drama. like pointless drama. shit that can and probably should have been resolved behind closed doors. also people who constantly post negative ooc posts. like i know we all go through shit, times are hard but it's also hard to scroll through the dash and see constant posts that lean more towards guilt tripping.

The problem with at night not being "brave"/confident enough to like things or send things in much?
Most of the things y'all post or do happen during my night. Which means most of the things in general end up being things I feel too doubting about, which I really need to change. So, here's to changing that. Hopefully. Tomorrow, bc toda my eyes hurt and I can't bother reading much still.
