It's an interesting concept, sure, that there are people whose wills are so strong they can overpower weaker ones, and they have the "qualities of a king" and the strongest ambitions or whatever, but if it's something you have to be born with, then it just shouldn't be such an important thing in this kind of story, where what you do is so much more relevant than who you are. It should've been something that a few people have, and Luffy just uses it to thin out the enemies when they're fighting a big army, not an essential tool to be able to fight

Let's talk about the hullabaloo with the new HelluvaBoss episode.

[I am loving the discourse going on in the fandom about the new episode and gender fuckery...or so some are going off about.

I'll mention this one because it's hardly a thing. Andrealphus is gay. No biggie. Some are being weird saying him calling his sister hot is a sign he's not gay, but...Have they never had a sibling do this? "Looking good, sis!" "Bro, you're looking sharp today." I'm also gonna nip this in the butt, no, complimenting your sibling doesn't imply incest, not everything is Game of Thrones. But let's look at the context of when Andrealphus says this. He "compliments" Stella when annoyed and when tries to sway her. She's not bright. He knows this. This is why he says she's lucky she's attractive because he's insinuating it's all she's useful as. A pretty face. Because even his sister is a pawn for his own goals, that should be obvious by now since he's willing to play Octavia (his niece) as a means to an end in his goal for power. This has nothing to do with his sexuality. It never was. He's just a condescending manipulative prick.

Now with that out of the way, onto the main point of contention. Let's talk about Mammon and the confusion that's going on with him being Ace yet making a pass at Leviathan. HE'S STILL FUCKING ACE! I'm Ace. I'm married. I love my husband. Does this mean I'm not Ace? NO! Because Ace is a fucking spectrum and not a clear-cut label that means you are this and this only! Even the most basic definition of Ace is "experience little to no sexual attraction to others". Notice how it says "little to no" and not outright saying no? Yeah, because Aces can still feel shit! A simple Google search isn't so hard to do.

Spectrum: Asexuality exists on a spectrum, and people may experience no, little, or conditional sexual attraction. 

Identity: Asexuality is a sexual orientation and identity, not a medical condition. 

Romantic attraction: Asexual people may still experience romantic attraction. Many asexual people identify as aromantic, meaning they don't experience romantic attraction. 

Celibacy: Asexuality is different from celibacy, which is the choice to not engage in sexual behaviors. 

Health: Asexuality is valid, and many healthy people identify as asexual. 

Some other terms related to asexuality include:

Allosexual: The opposite of asexual, referring to people who experience sexual attraction

Gray asexual: Also called graysexual or gray ace, this term refers to people who fall somewhere between asexuality and allosexuality

Demisexual: People who only experience sexual attraction after forming a close emotional bond with someone

Mammon can still be Ace and flirt. It doesn't make him any less Ace. I'll even take this further. Let's think of this within the context of what we know of Mammon in the episodes connected to him. He had Fizzarolli as his star and needed robotic know-how to not only fix him but also produce the Fizzies. What Sin has this knowledge? Ozzie. As the greedy manipulative businessman he is, he likely schmoozed Ozzie to get on his good side and made it easier to dig his grubby hands into any deal he could sneak out of Ozzie (something he had to work hard to do given how much Ozzie hates Mamms today). Now let's look at things now. Fizzie isn't his star anymore. The Glam Sisters are. And they are very obviously from the Evny Ring. And who runs the Envy Ring? That's right, it's our girls', Leviathan. Now knowing this, doesn't it make sense for him to make a move on them? YES! And it was working too! The lighter head was so digging his rizz (let's be real, Aces just have high charm stats which is why so many want to bang them...Looking at you Alastor simps, I feel you) but the dark head ain't vibing and moved them away. I think he still has a shot of scoring some sort of arrangement that he will no doubt worm into being massively leaning toward his benefits. He does seem to be spreading his influence into all the Rings and he has no issues taking resources in the pursuit of profit. He is doing what his instincts tell him to do to gain the system in his favor and his alone. Look at how he managed to dick over Lucifer, Mammon won the court case to rip off a Pride Ring exclusive thing. He can and will fuck over other Sins/nobles/and royals to get what he wants. This man is a bloody legend with balls of steel!

So yeah. This was my long somewhat rant on why this is ridiculous. Thank you for reading and have a good day/night.]

im pretty sure that out of eleven supernovas, luffy was the only one who was like "these vets are stronger than us so we need to leave. there's no use in fighting and im worried that we all might die."

i think that, if there be any, is the reason Bartholomew Kuma helped them out by just booping them to separate places. i feel like he was interested in luffy's brain (like all of the rest of us).

atp all he knows about luffy is that he's a thorn in the Marine's side, he's a very dangerous pirate with a crew of insane people to back him, and he's a dumb kid. in that moment though, i think him finally seeing why Zoro (and Sanji) were so adamant about protecting the captain was pivotal to his choice on interaction with the Straw Hats.

like yea, luffy is all of the above, but he's smarter than he lets on. he could've been like all the other supernovas and keep fighting until the end (for reasons that may or may not be valid). instead, i think, when luffy, as a captain, called his crew off and then openly worried for their safety as well, kuma probably went through an entire brain reset.

i feel like kuma, if no one else, really saw luffy that day as the man he was and the man that he would become and got excited. like yea HQ says he's no threat, but their are people in high places focused on this little bastard. and now kuma is starting to see why.

1072, 1073 and The Gear 5 Release: Thoughts and Discussion

Guys do we all agree that episode 1073 was pretty bad? WE DON'T EVEN GET TO SEE WHAT LUFFY WAS SUPPOSED TO DO IN THIS EPISODE?? AND THE NEXT EPISODE WILL BE A FUCKING FILLER??? Do not mess with me rn. I like Gear 5 and the animation was really good most of the time but goddamn Toei really ruined the hype for this and made a mess of it. Hype aside, they did a lot of stuff wrong with this release which any normal viewer can genuinely tell at first glance. All this even after Toei hyped it up to extreme levels and made us feel like God himself would come down to Earth and animate Gear 5.

There is no way anyone can look at this rollout and say that it was well done. I don't give a shit about how it is compared to DBZ or DBS or whatever other series, but it literally just disappoints by any objective standards you can have for anime at all, y'know? It just feels like a bunch of lost potential, especially after such amazing eps like 1071 and 1072 (even if 1071 itself was a bit of a mixed bag).

Like, I know that they can't do anything other than adapt the manga chapters, but c'mon. The anime can take some liberties with the source material. That's the point of the anime. I just feel like they actually de-hyped(?) the source material even more with their liberties.

I know it might sound whiny or entitled, and I know the team probably put a LOT of effort into it, but I just can't help but feel a little frustrated by this kind of release schedule and pacing. Toei has usually done justice to the big moments of OP despite their issues, but this release just felt off. The other Gears were hella hyped at the time as well, and everyone loved their anime adaptation, so it can't just be a matter of hype setting expectations too high. There are several issues even if you look past the hype aspect. What do y'all think about the G5 anime adaptation overall?

Is 18 and 19 years old still a teen or already an adult?

[If we're being literal, "teen" is still in the age and therefore would be considered a teenager. If we're just going with generally, then the majority would be in favor of that range as "adult". Frankly though, with how age differs for a variety of allowable things (driving, getting a job, drinking, sexual consent, voting, owning a gun, etc.) I'd be more in favor of the higher ages meaning "adult." If you can't legally drink alcohol or smoke in the US till you're 21, because of how it can medically fuck you/others up and an adult should be able to understand the responsibilities that come with intaking a literal poison that kills your body, then I'd argue that should be the age we see as "adult". Hell, I know that might get me flack because that would limit so much for most, but when we look at it reasonably and how the human mind isn't fully developed till we hit our early/mid-20s, why are so many incredibly life-altering responsibilities given such a low age allowance? (This is mostly aimed at the age of consent, which honestly scares the shit out of me when looking up what it is globally...seriously why does it get as low as 12 in some places, WTF?! RAISE THAT NUMBER FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!)]

How can a 16-year-old be "adult" enough to have a child but is not "adult" enough to handle a beer? This cherry-picking isn't right. It's not safe. How many times have creeps used this to their advantage? Not all teens are mentally ready to go through intimacy, so why is it we enable situations where being taken advantage of is almost 50/50? More and more youths are making themselves "mature" at an alarmingly fast rate, why? I'm not even just talking about girls here, boys are victimized just as much but are sadly stigmatized into hiding it because "it can't happen to a guy" or "girls have it harder, so suck it up", no. Fuck that. Harm is harm no matter what gender and you deserve to be taken seriously and have justice, not be shamed.}

<And...I went off on a rant again. Apologies. But this is something that I feel strongly about. Sexual assault/molestation/rape is a running theme in my family history. My mom, brother, sister, and even myself have experienced brushes with one or more of these. And in regards to my mom, this subject is exactly why it fires me up. She was a teen who got pregnant young and managed to have an abortion, this saved her a few years to mature before she had my brother at 19 with my dad (that's a mess in itself but too long of a story to tell), but her family cut her off entirely (except her mom and dad, who I'm glad were able to understand things despite their religious beliefs) and to this day I haven't clue on the family from my mother's side, they probably think we're dead for all they know. If my grandma and grandpa didn't continue to care about the well-being of their daughter by doing as the others did, cutting her off from the only support and loved ones she knew, what the fuck was she supposed to do at her age in the 1970s-80s? Where would the care be had she been left on her own, ostracized by blood, and considered a sinful whore by the church? Fuck, I'm ranting again. Sorry...sorry. I'll stop. It's getting way too much and I doubt any of you want to hear more.>

Not all proshippers use it as a way to cope with something. There are people that just believe that censoship over fiction content and harassment over it is unnecessary.

You don't need to like every trope and every ship to be a proshipper. You can like one, you can like two, you can like NONE! you just need to be respectful.

You don't need to be a lolishocon to be a proshipper.

You can be a proshipper and dislike incest/age gape. You are still a proshipper since you don't go to ppl that enjoy those things and starts harrasing them.

Proshipping is a belief that in fandom spaces, you are free to enjoy fiction that you or other ppl made without the fear of being doxed or getting rape/death threats from random strangers. Respect is the base.

We're obviously pro-endo and have a lot of headmates who are endogenic, but we do have DID and a lot of trauma worked its way into our formation of our system. Which leaves us in a pretty weird spot in syscourse!

But one of the weirdest things we've noticed is... A lot of the anti endo mindset is completely anti recovery for CDD systems entirely, while claiming to protect them. Often there's the sort of ableist rhetoric that's all about "if you're not suffering, you're not disordered and therefore mocking us or fake".. Which is ridiculous to say the least!

We've seen claims of:

Systems are fake if they're happy they're a system, because if you're happy you're a system then you can't have been traumatised enough to get there.

Systems are fake if they love their headmates in any way, because plurality is a disorder.

Systems are fake if they post "too much" about being happy online, because being plural is a disorder and therefore suffering.

Systems are fake if they never show signs of suffering online.

Systems are fake if they're open about being a system IRL or sometimes at all, because it's a deeply shameful thing.

Systems are fake if they have less amnesia than full-on blackout amnesia, because it's in the DSM.

Systems are fake if they don't dissociate much, because it's in the name of the disorder and the DSM.

And we're here to say that's all plainly incorrect at best. It's also incredibly ableist, anti-recovery and downright harmful to CDD systems who learn they have this disorder, go online for support, and just see discourse and people getting fakeclaimed if they don't show of how much they're suffering online.

Systems can be happy that they're plural. Even if it came from trauma. Why? Well you can be happy that you're any way you are, regardless of how you got there, obviously. But there's also a crucial point here that CDDs and headmates often develop to protect people from trauma. Of course some systems would be glad that they're plural, in a lot of cases it's what literally saved their lives. This goes for the "systems can't love their headmates" thing too--plenty of systems are full of love for their headmates! Not only because they were there for them when it was needed, but because these are--depending on your view--entire people you live with, or parts of yourself. Why are you implying you have to hate that so viscerally to be real?

It's also a pretty well known thing that people tend to post their happier moments online, leading to this perception that they don't suffer. One, because that's how a lot of people work--their personal pages are public after all, and they don't want to be seen as constistently struggling. Two, it's downright dangerous to post in so much detail about your triggers, your trauma and abuse you're currently facing on the internet--even ignoring the fact that you need to be wary of your digital footprint, people can read these posts and use information against you. It's a choice many people make to not hand random people ammo on a silver plate.

Claiming that systems are fake if they're open about being plural in any space is simply ablesim. We've seen this take quite a few times, actually, and it never fails to be some of the most ridiculous ableism we've seen--it comes with a puritan "sweep it under the rug" mindset and the expectation that systems are ashamed of their plurality by default, or that it's simply too dangerous to share. While for a lot of people it is very dangerous to talk about their system so they simply keep that information to themselves, claiming every system should hide it for their entire lives and not expect to be received with kindness, compassion or accommodation is horrible.

As for the amnesia and dissociation... Therapy can help with these! You can actively go to therapy and get strategies to deal with the symptoms that come with a CDD without even going down the final fusion route! You can get it to a point where you have communication with your headmates, where you can switch on command, where you don't dissociate much at all.... You can work toward these goals with the right tools! Why does a system like us who's worked through years of therapy and years of working with ourselves within our own system suddenly get called fake once we start healing?

CDD systems should not have to fit what YOU think a true system should look like. They shouldn't have to suffer on show for you to believe them. They shouldn't have to hide all of themselves away in shame and never have their true selves known. They shouldn't have to pretend they're not recovering to be treated as real. They shouldn't have to feel like they'll be persecuted for simply being happy with who they are as people, or happy with how far they've come.

"Being a system isn't all fun and games" and I'm sure it's not for plenty of people. But do you think it's ok when a CDD system says they love themselves and think their system is fun? Or do you group them in with the endogenics who are "mocking [your] trauma"? Do you really care about people with CDDs at all in that case?

You can say "anti endos aren't ableist because endogenic plurality isn't a disorder" all you like--you're wrong about endogenics not being able to have CDDs by the way, but that's another post--but when you display so much ableist rhetoric toward your fellow CDD systems, I don't know how anyone can see you as "protecting" those with the disorders at all. You can't hide your hatred behind the guise of "protection" when you're harming your own community. You're not protecting us from anyone, you're trying to make us fit into a box full of spikes. It was never about protecting trauma survivors, it was about your personal hatred for others. We shouldn't have to suffer for you.

i'd read several people saying that this chapter sucked and that the end was bullshit so i was a little scared at what had happened but...

i literally don't understand how someone could be upset by this...?? i feel like this outcome has been heavily implied throughout the entire arc. like, just a few chapters ago, bonney used a technique very similar to one of luffy's. are we reading the same manga? lol

and from a storytelling standpoint, it's just so poetic. both of bonney's parents suffered and ultimately died (we still need confirmation on kuma, tho) at the hands of the WG. she, herself, fell terminally ill because of saturn's human experimentation. she carried a lot of unresolved trauma, and now that she's met luffy, she's starting to overcome it all. kuma told her that nika would free her, and it's happening!! how could anyone complain about this?

and to say that this undermines luffy's journey and efforts to awaken his df... please. we still don't know if she's gonna have a quarter of luffy's power if anything at all. stop assuming things just off of one panel. time will tell. for now, i very much like this concept, and i'm excited to see what oda will do with this in the future. he's never disappointed me, so far, when it comes to the story. i don't see why he would now.
