As a little intro, some spoilers ahead! This is a little post about Sugar Apple Fairy Tale and how surprised I was to have enjoyed it. It really is such a good show and I'd recommend it highly. I wrote this in two separate parts but felt it worked better as one larger post so if it's a little disconnected or repeats anything that'd be why. Enjoy!
To fully be honest though I’ve been in LOVE with Sugar Apple Fairy Tale. Its finished up it’s second season and something about the way it ended makes me think there won't be another season but I wouldn't mind either way. It felt good the way it was. I constantly found myself thinking “YES GIRL SHOW ‘EM” as Anne, our protagonist, was met with more and more hurdles in her quests and she'd work as hard as she could to get around them every time. Sometimes events happened that she simply couldn’t avoid but instead of simply being a damsel or waiting for someone to save her she seems to always get up and ask herself “What can I do right now?” Each time the show beings to enter a trope it seems to lightly find a new way around it or plays into it a really nice way. No matter how it plays out it’s refreshing. Where I would have been upset about feeling like characters should be able to see certain turns coming or problems arising, it was way more engaging to let the story play into those things and be excited for how things would playout after (and maybe shout a few “Gah I knew it!” when I got really into it). Overall too it has this otome game sort of feeling to it’s story progression. Even though the main love interest is fairly clear there are moments that in an otome would definitely net some romance points for certain characters.
Something that surprised me about that is I really enjoyed every second of it. It’s hard to explain the full story of why, but I’ve really had a problem getting into Shoujo type stories lately. I play a lot of Otome, in random sporadic amounts, and something that I enjoy about those rather than general shojou stories is that there is a development of relationships and characters that feels fun. In going through common routes theres a chance to engage and really understand aspects of characters that you tend not to always get in shojous because the story is meant to develop specific relationships. There are times where multiple relationships develop but most of the time a linear story works on specific relationships because that tends to drive the story forward more easily and is usually what readers want to see. Even Otome tend to drive the relationships through the common route but ultimately focus on the single chosen relationship in the full routes. Nonetheless my favorite part of Otome is when everyone is hanging out together and were able to invest our time in getting to know everyone as much as we want and see them interact with each other. There’s also a bit of world building in these parts that I like because Otome always have such fun worlds.
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale though is the perfect mix of the Otome getting to know everyone, and then the main relationship of shoujo. Theres something super engaging about the way they wrote it that makes it both a bit predictable but not in a way that I disliked. Whenever I saw something coming I didn’t go “Gosh that was stupid, I knew from the start”. It was more so that I enjoyed how I could see what was coming because it meant I get to know how the characters reacted when they found it out. For example I sort of knew that bridgette would find a way to get Charelle’s wing the moment she gained a crush on him. I did not however know how she would or what Anne’s reaction would be. And that made it intriguing. Something about the way that works is super nice. From what I understand as well, Sugar Apple is a light novel so it’s possible thats why it feels so interesting in it’s writing (if it is a light novel).
It’s definitely one of the easiest series to watch through that I’ve seen in a while though. It was just...refreshing.

❝atsumu, kuroo, tsukishima and bokuto playing acnh ❞
Tumblr media
miya atsumu
→ first he called the game dumb but he eventually gave in because everyone and their aunts were playing it and he didn’t wanna be left out
→ mf tries so hard for raymond at first
→ he insists it’s just because he can sell him for a lot
→ he really just wants raymond because he lowkey reminds him of osamu
→ anyways this fool doesn’t get raymond but ya know who he does get?
→ pedro
→ atsumu was ✨disgusted✨
→ “a clown?! a fukn clown?! yer jokin me!”
→ “aw don’t cry he fits in so well on your island 😹”
→ “sHUT YER TRAP 😠😠😠”
→ he hated pedro at first and for what?
→ eventually he starts vibing with him though
→ he decides that perhaps... pedro isn’t a bad guy after all
→ so atsumu develops a soft spot for him and begins to favour him over the rest of his mediocre villagers whose names he can’t be bothered to remember
→ ya know whose name he can remeber though?
→ BELLA 😡😠😡😠😡😡😠
→ the name that sparks rage in him
→ atsumu hits his villagers with his net shouting “nice cut g!” as a joke
→ with bella he’s not joking 😐
→ he hits her repeatedly and grins maliciously when she gets angry eventually
→ LOVES shoving her into pitfalls for absolutely no reason
→ cusses her out under his breath
→ writes hate mail to her only to get fustrated when she sends a nice reply about the flowers she saw the other day that reminded her of him
→ honestly bella girl it ain’t worth it, pack your bags and get outta there sis 😔
→ he wants her to get tf off his island because he doesn’t like her but he also kinda wants her to stay because he loves annoying her and making her angry
→ literally goes out of his way to buy the ugliest clothes for her to wear
→ he also has all his villagers address him as “big dick man”
→ pedro is special though 😳
→ pedro is the chosen one who gets to call him “tsumu”
→ JUST PEDRO 😤😾😡
→ literally thinks it’s the funniest thing when his villagers say “hey big dick man! the weather sure is great today isn’t it!”
→ you can hear his cackling from down the hall
→ thinks it’s the peak of comedy
→ oh and you’re not allowed to visit his island on a saturday
→ saturdays are “for the boys”
→ and by that he means he’s just going to buy a ton of matching clothes for him and pedro and talk to him all day until he eventually annoys pedro by accident to which he genuinely gets upset about
→ he doesn’t really bother with the fishing tourneys or bug offs
→ does catch a few though just to make sure he beats bella earns nook miles
→ pretty average island, not too much effort put into it yet
→ atsumu prefers channeling his energy and game time into bullying bella interacting with his villagers
Tumblr media
kuroo tetsurō
→ bangs. it. tf. out.
→ literally acts like he doesn’t care about the game but has 395+ hours game time
→ uses the excuse it’s to play with kenma but kuroo actually got into it before kenma had the chance to look at it properly
→ fishing tourney KING
→ has multiple gold trophy’s and built a whole extension just to show them off
→ also treats all his villagers equally
→ he was a bit picky and only wanted cats and dogs on his island though
→ if you’re anything but a cat or a dog, i’m sorry but kuroo will timeskip you tf off of his island
→ has a soft spot for lucky but doesn’t admit it
→ he likes to come across as a “fair dictator of the island”
→ just admit luckys your fav and go oh my god
→ his house is really nice too
→ pretty much paid off all his debt and is financially responsible 😼
→ he will send you money over a few times a week because he claims he’s a good boyfie virtually and realistically
→ LOVES opening the letters from ‘mom’
→ it’s a small detail in the game but it brings kuroo comfort when he opens the letters and sometimes receives gifts from his virtual ‘mom’ 🥺
→ keeps all the letters from her because that’s what he would do if his real mom ever wrote to him
→ he’s a shameless timeskipper
→ “tetsu?? where tf did you get all this the games only been out a week??”
→ “👁👁 idk what you’re talking about baby”
→ the thing that annoys him the most are the fossils
→ HATES the stupid little marks in the ground that appear every day
→ also HATES talking to blathers
→ “spit it out already! i have places to be and villagers to see!”
→ completely ignores blathers’ real name and refers to him as ‘bokuto’
→ because he’s an owl duh
→ and bokuto also talks a lot
→ you thought it was a cute friendship thing at first but took it back when you heard him muttering under his breath
→ “oh my god just analyse the fossils already you himbo bird!”
→ “did you just call blathers a himbo? 😳”
→ “...no? 😳👀”
→ all in all, kuroo’s pretty good at the game
→ you like visiting his island because he has a ton of extra stuff he just gives you
→ “i never want to hear you call me a bad boyfriend again 😐”
→ “okay fine...but oNLY if you give me an ironwood dresser 😏”
Tumblr media
tsukishima kei
→ another one who bangs it out
→ doesn’t really care when you point it out though
→ “you’re just jealous your islands a dumping ground compared to mine 🥱”
→ “k-kei 😔”
→ also sprints near where you’re fishing to scare the fish off and be spiteful 💀
→ little shit KNOWS you only need oranges to complete all the fruits on your island
→ he also knows you’re out of nook miles tickets
→ “aw that’s a shame, maybe if you were a bit better at the game you’d find them quicker but good luck! 😀”
→ oranges are his native fruit 😐😑😐
→ eventually he gives you them because you’re relentless and his patience runs thin after a while
→ good at the bug offs
→ pretty good at scorpion/tarantula hunting too
→ convinced spike is in love with him after the amount of scorpions and tarantulas he’s donated to him
→ his fossil exhibition in the museum is completed already
→ when blathers tells him the facts about the dinosaurs he just rolls his eyes
→ “i knew that already you stupid bird 🙄”
→ why’s everyone bullying blathers damn 😿
→ now, he likes henry
→ one of the few villagers he doesn’t bully
→ tsukki doesnt particularly care for majority of his villagers
→ henry has a special place in his heart though
→ maybe it’s because henry isn’t overly perky or he isn’t rude like the cranky villagers which tsukishima doesn’t like
→ henry is just??? so??? nice????
→ he can’t hate him
→ all his villagers have catchphrases that are dumb af
→ tsukki thought he was being clever when he made them but he just looks mean when other people talk to his villagers
→ “good morning i am useless! i love your outfit!”
→ henry gets to call him tsukki though
→ only because he figured out that henry reminds him of yamaguchi
→ that’s the only reason henry’s the exception to his bullying
→ i feel like tsukki has a pretty nice house too
→ he makes a lot of bells from selling scorpions and tarantulas and spare fossils he’s dug up
→ doesn’t really care about the size but has very detailed rooms
→ like all the furniture in his rooms follow a scheme
→ mf never opens his mailbox
→ doesn’t care for what the other “peasants have to say for themselves”
→ terraforming isn’t really his thing tbh
→ doesn’t like how slow the process and be and kinda likes the natural flat land
→ he likes laying down paths though
→ cusses villagers out when they get in the way though
→ full on shoves them and will keep shoving them until they get annoyed just because they’ve annoyed him
→ tsukki doesnt put as much time into the game as kuroo but his island is still pretty good and aesthetically pleasing
→ he just won’t help you make yours look like that 💀
Tumblr media
bokuto koutarō
→ weeds. everywhere.
→ get so confused when he’s told he has to pick them all
→ “really? why can’t i just let them grow though i kinda like them 🤩”
→ mf ✨struggles✨ at the first stages
→ “y/n, you know i love you, please give me 30 iron nuggets 🥺💖💞💗”
→ ofc you give them to him because you’re well ahead in the game and don’t need them as much as he does
→ praises you like royalty but then he’s back to begging for materials from you 💀
→ doesn’t pay his debts
→ you’re gonna have to help him out here
→ doesn’t like the idea of having to constantly pay them off
→ like?? he doesn’t want a bigger house so why is this damn raccoon always bothering him to upgrade like leave him and his 2 room house alone 😠
→ has a the same camp bed and lamp from when he first moved out the tent 💀
→ insists he doesn’t need another one because the furniture all functions the same
→ he has a point tbf but his house just isn’t aesthetically pleasing
→ he also hoards stuff
→ common butterfly? yeah bokuto has 37 sitting in his storage
→ doesn’t like letting the bugs go because he “caught them fair and square”
→ you show him how to pay his debts back and then he dedicates a whole room to his stupid bugs 💀
→ loves blathers and celeste just because they’re owls
→ doesn’t care about what they’re wittering on about he loves interacting with them just because they’re the only owls in the game 😐
→ his favourite villager is kid cat
→ literally follows him around and sprints circles around him
→ l o v e s the chaos outside the town hall
→ 2 of his villagers are singing, 3 are running around and 1 is just watching like 🧍🏻‍♀️
→ HYPES his singing villagers tf up
→ “yeah get it bianca! turn it up!!! 🥳🥳”
→ has to match his villagers clothes at least once a week
→ also makes them all refer to him as “the best ace”
→ it boosts his ego a little more each time they say it
→ bokuto actually got raymond out of luck but had no idea who tf he was and just how popular he was
→ lets that mf go without advertising that raymond’s in boxes
→ atsumu screeches when he finds this out eventually
→ bokuto doesn’t care what his villagers look like everyone’s welcome
→ bella should move to bokuto’s island and move from atsumu’s because bokuto will accept her with open arms rather than a net to the head everytime he sees her 😿
→ ALWAYS remembers birthdays for his villagers
→ and always shows up to their birthday parties insisting he’s the life of the party and they’d be bored without him 😹
→ which is true to a certain degree cause the party only really starts when the player arrives
→ bokuto is actually okay at terraforming
→ quickly changes his mind after an hour of building and digging and restarts it all over again
→ he can make his island look pretty good
→ theres just weeds and buried fossils everywhere though 👁👁
→ also forgets his turnips go bad
→ literally the least financially responsible out of them all
→ it’s okay though because you help him and he eventually gets the hang of it

This is the last ask ill send because im honestly tired of this whole thing
I dont know why you brought up the anon hate you got when that’s no part of the discussion. Even if it isnt your intention, you’re making yourself out of to be the victim when you arent. You say you want to get better but each time something gets pointed out you get on the defensive. I dont know why you decided to bring it up, but now that you have: Piama is indeed whitewashed on your drawing. “Warm lighting” doesnt change peoples undertones like that. Compare it to Piama’s last two cgs if you really don’t believe me.
Even if you aren’t affected, you need to be able to recognize it without poc having to tell you in order to be a good ally. I wouldn’t want a straight friend that lets people make homophobic comments about me in their presence and then hear them say “it doesn’t affect me so i couldnt tell it was homophobic so thats why i didnt defend you”. If you aren’t able to recognize it then you’ll inevitably repeat the same rhetoric. Racist rhetoric is everywhere and spewed every single day so you cant expect poc to be with you all the time and take you by the hand to tell you whats racist or not. Those are the reasons why you need to learn how to identify it by yourself, be listening to poc, by developing critical thinking skills, by not surrounding yourself with only white people. If not there’ll be more unchallenged asks such as one i saw recently that pinned poc that complained about yet another white route “stupid because they dont get that lovestruck releases routes by demand”. As if we have no concept of nuance.
No one is obliged to accept an apology, especially after what happened. I dont know where you got that idea from, especially when it concerns something that hurts people this deeply. And I didn’t point it out what happened just to be petty, I pointed it out because it isn’t an isolated event but a pattern of behavior of unchecked racist comments. That was simply the worst case: It was handled poorly, considering mod viv herself never apologized and again, swept it under the rug. The apology I saw from mod wrath was vague, didnt address the situation directly, was posted on this blog so no one knew what was going on, and was later deleted. So yeah she can apologize ten times and it still doesn’t mean we have to accept it. Especially if it’s that catastrophic because it looks like its more about saving face rather than feeling remorse, even if she did feel bad. You’re too eager to call it just “a mistake” and pin me as the unreasonable one.
And I want to ask you, have you truly seen with your own eyes an interaction where someone said to the other “if you like vinca you’re racist” and was completely serious?Or have you heard it from someone else saying that they were told that? Because considering that other anon watering down a woc’s criticism of lovestruck as “she doesnt like white people or this blog” then yeah i wouldn’t trust anything else coming from their mouths. People are getting too pressed over the millionth white woman in the app. Hell even if it happened, it’s probably what, one, two people? But you’re lumping all of us together as if its been a wave of saying that. The valid criticism surrounding Vinca is interconnected with Nahara’s release (one of the few dark-skinned women in the app) considering people kept saying they’d rather have a Vinca route when Nahara’s was announced. They’re not even willing to support it just because they want Vinca’s and that sends a message to voltage. So it simply doesnt boil down to “well its a difference in personalities”. Im gonna go as far as to say that if a woc had the same attitude as Vinca, people wouldnt be frothing at the mouth for her or they’d delve into the realm of fetishizing (as some people are bordering the line with Piama). But thats a whole other topic. And since people want to act stupid: all of the white characters in lovestruck are white because voltage made them that way. They could’ve quite easily made them a poc, but they rarely do. Think about what that means then, if youre really trying to defend yourself by saying “well they put out whats popular”
Lastly, you should really evaluate the content and beliefs you put out when racist people are still comfortable following and interacting with you. This is why i want this discussion to be public: your followers need to read this and apply it to themselves. Because considering the amount of anon hate you said you got yesterday towards the other blogger, theres a bunch of your followers who need to get off their phones and learn to care about other people and stop being racist assholes.
Believe me, I’m tired of it as well.
I brought up the anon hate because I didn’t want you to wonder why I was posting your asks in this form.
And no. Piama is not whitewashed. I took a dropper tool and took the color directly from her sprite, and if you’d looked at my blog, you would’ve seen that I sent screenshots as proof in response to that ask. But you obviously didn’t, so I’ll send them here again. (1. Without lighting. 2. With Lighting.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you still don’t believe me, you’re welcome to call me on Discord and I’ll share my screen and show you the entire process. And as an artist: You’d be fucking surprised what lighting does to colors.
Well, yes, I need to be able to recognize it indeed. The thing is: I can’t always. I try my best on this, and there will be moments and issues that will come up, mistakes I will make because I’m not perfect and not a machine. And in those moments, I’d love to have a friend that affectionately slaps me and says “JD, that was shit.” So I can apologize and notice it the next time. I have had multiple friends be transphobic to me in certain ways. I’ve informed them about it. They apologized and haven’t done it since. We’re still friends to this day. I do try to educate myself on racism and put in some work. I don’t expect POC to do all the work for me and explain to me how to be an ally correctly, and still - I hope they help me just as I help my cis friends with trans stuff. I can’t magically change all my behaviors and overcome internalized societal racism with the snap of a finger. If I could, I fucking would have already done it multiple times. The way it is, I’m working on it. Again - I’m sorry I didn’t point out the racist comment in the ask. I should’ve done that, and I’ll make sure to do it in the future.
You’re right no one is obliged to accept an apology. You’re right this hurts people deeply. And as I said - Mod Wrath apologized three times, including one on her personal blog which was a lot less vague. Mod Viv also apologized - to the person in question, in private. Just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. And the thing is - if you refuse to accept her apology, that’s one thing and fully your right. And the thing is: If an apology is not going to make you forgive her, if ten are not, what do you need in order to forgive? Will you never forgive? Will you always argue it’s going to be an apology to save face when you don’t know the fact she does feel remorse? How will you see that she does?
I did hear the Vinca thing from a friend of mine. Whom I trust. Because seriously, why would you make things like that up? Who would even get the idea? I’m against the idea of believing my friends would lie to me for attention or whatever. And yeah, the criticism of that anon was unfitting - I’ve visited the blog they claimed was doing that and I found nothing of the sorts, so that comment was unfitting unless I missed something. I never intended to say that it’s all of you saying that. I intended to say that some people are handling the issue wrong. I’m sorry it came off that way. I do believe though that it’s people’s full right to say they’d have preferred Vinca over Nahara. I would’ve preferred Vinca. I still read Nahara tho. However, it’s not yours to dictate which routes other people have to support and which not. I will however agree with you that people should give Nahara a chance - it’s quite the sweet story. And I for my part would enjoy a POC Vinca just as much as a white one. (Also, side note, you’re making it appear as if everyone would either fetishize or rage over her, which is very much putting all of the “white” fanbase into the same bag, the same thing you critizised me for earlier. It’s understandable from a psychological point of view, tho, so I’m not gonna comment further.)
Yeah, Voltage makes the characters white, and that’s an issue people can only fix by demanding more POC in the ask posts and comments. Which many do, btw. They put out what is popular indeed, they put out what is demanded, and I fucking demand more POC. I want it. They could’ve made so many LIs POC and they haven’t and I’m fucking unhappy about it too! I’m not even trying to say anything else.
Yes, making this public to arouse thinking is a good policy. The followers need to read this indeed. And we didn’t get anon hate for the other blogger. We got anon hate towards us. Tons. Comments that went as far as telling mods to kill themselves. And while I agree with lots of the things you say - some of the ways you’re acting actively spark this type of hate. There is being loud about the issues you face, and then there is calling people racist assholes based on a comment they made instead of talking to them personally and telling them that’s not okay, giving them the chance to improve themselves instead of always having them stamped as a racist. Just because you’re the one who’s hurt, the one who’s morally correct, does not mean anything you say or do is good behavior.
You told me I whitewashed Piama when you, with a minute of research, could’ve found proof I didn’t. You obviously wanted the internet to see, maybe hoped I’d get exposed? Could I get an apology for that? And I promise, I’ll accept it because I’m willing to believe you’re a good person.
Summary of everything:
You’re right with lots of things.
I behaved wrong and I’m sorry.
Lovestruck has an issue with racism that we need to change together.
Together. Without toxic behavior from any side.

The Dairy of Charm Jekyll
September 10th, 1849
Classes have started here at the local magicks university. The students have seemed to taken a liking to me, being rather open to a female teacher. I’m honestly flattered by the lack of opposition from the students. If only the facility were as open minded as them.
You’d think with a society made up of creatures such as Vampires, Werewolves, Magic-Users, and everything would be less rigid with gender roles. But I suppose even the likes of the supernatural will cling to anything that would make them feel human. If only bigotry wasn’t something stabled with it. The sad fact that I was hired out of desperation rather than genuine skill is rather telling of how violent human bigotry can be.
On another note, I’ve discovered something in the basement. It’s a strange book, written in a language that reads so much older than even Latin! I suppose father had found it when he was off researching. I could only read one passage from it, but even then barely so. It almost sounded like a spell or an enchantment, but there hasn’t been any effect on me or the house. I can’t imagine that simply reading a passage would cause any sort of effect. But I’ll be on the look out for any strange happenings.
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
September 17th 1849
It’s been a week since I’ve read that book, and I haven’t noticed anything about myself being different. Classes have run smoothly, no strange events either good or bad have occurred, nothing. I’m almost certain now nothing came of it.
The only other thing to note of is a strange wild animal attack. It seemed some people were attacked and eaten by a canine creature on the 13th. No one is really commenting on it except for the fact the victims were eaten rather brutally. I’ve eximined them myself, being the only forensic examiner in the area. There were canine teeth marks but…
This is going to sound insane, but there were human teeth in the mix. I’m suspecting that a human started the job and then let their dog finish them. Of course bringing this up to the police would only drive the poor fools into a stupor. They’d be falling all over themselves to quickly pin the blame onto any old codger that looks at them funny.
I’d love to look into this incident myself, but I have to attend to class work and other grueling tasks as a professor in the Magicks Department. It’s not like I could leave my students without a proper education. I’ll just have to hope there isn’t a second strike of this madman.
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
October 5th 1849
There’s been another attack in town. This time it was four bodies. Compared to the last three, Theres no connection other than these poor souls where our at night. I can’t imagine how the killer was able to capture them for their… disgusting consumption. It would take at last an hour each victim to consume the amount of flesh missing from the bodies, and they were discovered in the early morning. It’s concerning to say the least.
But that’s the least of my worries right now. It appears the book did do something. What she is I’m not sure. A voice started to appear in my head, feminine but wicked. She tells me her name is Bliss… Bliss Hyde. I haven’t tried communicating with her yet, for fear of what she might do. But she seems to only be a voice. No ability to interact with the world outside my body.
I’ll talk to her tonight and see what she has to say.
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
October 6th 1849
I can’t believe it. Dr. Lanyon is… gone. He became the victim of the Midnight Feaster, as the locals have named them. We may not have spoken in years, Lanyon and I, but he was the only one to truely support my academic endeavors. To think the man who was the cornerstone of my career as a Professor is truely heartbreaking.
Bliss, meanwhile, could only scoff at my woes. It seems she doesn’t care for my sorrow and could only laugh. She keeps saying she’s hungry, but I have no idea what she’s on about. She couldn’t be the Midnight Feaster; I’m in bed before 9 and she can’t take over my body.
The funeral for Lanyon will be in a fortnight. I’ll of course be in attendance
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
October 13th, 1849
Lanyon’s funeral was today. I couldn’t stop the tears as I saw him buried. My lawyer, Utterson, was there to help me. He had read Lanyon’s will for all who was addressed to.
Though, he said something strange. He said I had spoken to him prior to Lanyon’s death to change my will. That’s absurd! I haven’t seen him since those parents who wanted to sue me! But he assures that I met with him and that I had wanted to make some alarming changes. Apparently, I had seen him to bequeath my money and estate to “Bliss Hyde”.
It’s growing more possible for Bliss to be the Midnight Feaster. But that would mean… Lanyon’s blood is on my teeth. I have to confront her about this
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
October 14th, 1849
The truth comes out. Bliss is the one who did it. She’s the Midnight Feaster, Lanyon’s murderer, and… the murderer of my students. Just last night she devoured three of my students. All to prove… even if people don’t care about me, she can still hurt me. But I can’t let that demon hurt anyone else!
That’s why this will be my last entry. If there’s anyone reading this, please know that I loved my life before all this. Even with the struggles against the bigotry against women, I at least got to be a professor for two months. My only regret is summoning Bliss into this world.
Sincerely,
Charm Jekyll
Tumblr media
Oh, you just have to love a good old history lesson! Honestly, the nerve of Jekyll! She thought she could be rid of me, the very demon she summoned…
Oh don’t look at me like that! She was the idiot who read a spell without thinking! She should’ve been more careful…
Oh, you’re probably thinking that because Halloween is over, you’ll be able to take your body back? Like it’s that simple! You’re the one locked up now! And unless someone could magically come in and free you, your little friends are stuck with me…
Hope they don’t mind if I stay~

Quill’s Swill - The Worst Of 2018
Congratulations dear reader. You survived 2018. And you know what that means. It’s time for another best of/worst of list. Welcome to Quill’s Swill 2018. A giant septic tank for the various shit the entertainment industry produced over the course of the year. The films, games, TV shows and various other media that got on my bad side. As always please bear in mind that this is only my subjective opinion (if you happen to like any of the things on this list, good for you. I’m glad someone did) and that obviously I haven’t seen everything 2018 has to offer for one reason or another. In other words, sorry that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald isn’t on here. I’m sure it is as terrible as some have been suggesting. I just never got around to watching it.
Okay everyone. Grab your breathing masks and put on your rubber gloves. Let’s dive into this shit pile.

Hold The Sunset
The news that John Cleese would be returning to the world of BBC sitcoms was incredibly exciting, being a massive Fawlty Towers fan and all. Unfortunately Hold The Sunset was not quite what I had in mind. It’s one of those rare breed of situation comedies that chooses to offer no actual comedy. It’s not a sitcom. It’s a sit. Like Scrubs or The Big Bang Theory.
An elderly couple plan to elope abroad only for Alison Steadman’s son to barge in, having left his wife, and forcing them to put their plans on hold. Hence the title ‘Hold The Sunset.’ It’s like a cross between As Time Goes By and Sorry, but if all the humour and relatability were surgically removed by a deadpan mortician. The characters are weak, the plots are thin on the ground and the humour (hat little of it there is) feel incredibly dated. The middle aged mummy’s boy is something that hasn’t been funny since the 90s. It’s an utter waste of great talent and what hurts even more is that this tripe is actually getting a second series. I can only assume the people watching this are comatose. Either that or there’s an epidemic of people in Britain who have lost the remote.

Avengers: Infinity War
Yes this is one of the worst movies of 2018 and no I don’t regret saying that one little bit. Avengers: Infinity War was fucking terrible. Period. There were too many plots and characters going on, which made the film hard to follow (and what staggers me is that the so called ‘professional’ critics have condemned movies for having too many characters and plots before. Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice and even Deadpool 2. But because this is an MCU movie, it gets a free pass. Fuck off). The characterisation was weak due to sheer number of characters they try to juggle, resulting in characters coming off as one dimensional caricatures of themselves and scenes where characters such as Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Star-Lord sound completely interchangeable. The villain, Thanos, is a stupidly and poorly written villain, but that’s hardly surprising considering what a shit job Marvel have done building him up over the course of these 20+ movies. And let’s not forget that pisstake ending. A bunch of prominent Marvel characters die and it’s all very, very sad... except all these characters just so happen to have sequels planned, which makes this ending fucking pointless and have less impact than a feather on a bouncy castle.
I don’t know which is more shocking. That Marvel and Disney think their audience are that stupid and gullible, or that their audience are actually validating their view. Fuck you Disney.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
I’ve always wanted a Harry Potter RPG, where you could customise your character, choose your house and actually live a full school life at Hogwarts. This year, Warner Bros and Jam City gave us just that.
That was a mistake.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the epitome of everything that’s wrong with the mobile gaming market right now. The gameplay is boring and involving where you just tap images on a screen until a progress bar fills up. Wizard duels are little more than rock-paper-scissors challenges that require no kind of skill. Bonding with friends and caring for magical creatures just consist of pathetically simple pop quizzes and yet more boring tapping. Oh and of course you only get a certain amount of energy to complete these tedious tasks. If you run out of energy, you wait for it to fill up... or pay up for the privilege. So determined are they to extract your hard earned cash from your wallet, there’s actually a bit where Devil’s Snare strangles your eleven year old avatar and the game effectively tries to guilt trip you into paying micro-transactions to save them. It’s sleazy, gross and manipulative. Honestly, you’re better off just playing Candy Crush.

Agony
When the developers of this game said they wanted to give the player a trip through Hell, they had no idea how true that statement really was. Agony is dreadful on a number of levels. The design for Hell itself, while visually interesting at times, is often not very practical and gets quite dull and repetitive after a while. The stealth mechanics are a joke and the AI of your demonic enemies are pitiful. All of this alone would have been enough to put this game on the list, but then we also have the casual misogyny. Agony is a gorefest trying desperately to shock the player. We see men and woman get tortured, but it’s the women that often get the extreme end. The violence inflicted on them is often sexual in nature and the game seems to go out of its way to degrade and dehumanise women at every turn. The orgasmic cries of ‘pull it out’ quickly become a staple of the game’s experience as we see naked women raped, tortured and murdered, all for the purposes of ‘entertainment.’
I would call Agony sexist, but honestly that would be giving it too much credit. Agony is like a little child trying desperately to be all dark and edgy in a pathetic attempt to impress everyone around him, and we should treat it as such. Go to your room Agony. No ice cream for you.

Peter Rabbit
If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of Beatrix Potter rotating in her grave.
Yes we have yet another live action/CGI hybrid, but instead of something innocuous like the Smurfs or Alvin and the Chipmunks, Sony instead decides to adapt Peter Rabbit, with James Corden in the title role.
It’s about as bad as you’d expect.
Their attempts to modernise the story are painful to say the least with pop culture references, inappropriate adult humour and twerking rabbits. Plus rather than the gentle, but slightly mischievous character we got in the source material, here Peter is a sociopathic delinquent who seems to revel in making the farmer’s life a living hell. He’s unlikable and unwatchable as far as I’m concerned and the film doesn’t in anyway earn the emotional moments it tries so desperately to sell to the audience. And the worst part is it’s getting a sequel.
Wait. Do you hear that sound? That’s the sound of Beatrix Potter tearing out of the ground, ready to kill whatever idiot came up with this shit.
Tumblr media
Fallout 76
I was excited for Fallout 76. A MMORPG where players band together to rebuild society after a nuclear apocalypse. Could have been great. Pity it wasn’t.
Fallout 76 is a dreadful game. Not only is it a buggy, glitchy mess that requires a constant online connection to play, which could result in you losing hours of progress if your WiFi went down, it’s also unbelievably tedious, and that’s because there’s nothing to do in the game. There’s no other characters to interact with, the various robots and computers you come across are really little more than quest givers, there’s no actual plot so to speak, and because of the sheer size of the world and the number of players allowed on a server, the chances of you actually meeting any actual players is remote. And let’s not forget all the behind the scenes drama. Bethesda falsely advertising Fallout themed canvas bags and players getting shitty nylon ones. Bethesda accidentally releasing the account information of various players trying to get a refund for said bag. Bethesda failing to program the year 2019 into the game code, meaning that the game’s nukes don’t work.
Maybe there’s a chance that Bethesda could pull a No Man’s Sky and fix everything over the coming years with various patches and DLCs, but the damage has already been done. It’s incredibly disappointing. The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to have be fucking incredible to win everyone back.

Mama Mia!: Here We Go Again
I can’t stand jukebox musicals anyway, but Mamma Mia was always one of the worst. Its boring, meandering story with its one note, obnoxious cast of characters screeching out ABBA songs like they’re at some drunken karaoke session at some poor sod’s hen party has always grated on my nerves. So imagine my delight when they announced we were getting a sequel. Ever wondered how Meryl Streep met her three lovers and founded her hotel? No? Well tough shit, we’re going to tell you anyway.
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is basically just Mamma Mia again. The actors still can’t sing, the characters are still annoying and story is still boring and meandering, completely at the mercy of the chosen songs rather than the filmmakers using the songs to compliment the story (you know? Like proper musicals do?).
How can I resist you? Very easily as it turns out. Gimme, gimme, gimme a fucking gun so I can end my misery.

The Cloverfield Paradox
A lot of people were unhappy about the direction Cloverfield was going. They wanted a continuation of the found footage, kaiju movie from 2008, not an anthology series. I was personally all in favour. Partially because I thought the first Cloverfield was a tad overrated, but mostly because I thought it would be a great opportunity for more experimental film projects and could be a great launchpad for new writers and filmmakers. 10 Cloverfield Lane was a great start. Then The Cloverfield Paradox happened.
The Cloverfield Paradox is basically JJ Abrams trying to have his cake and eat it too. Maintaining the anthology format whilst connecting everything together in a ‘shared universe’ (yes, yet another shared universe). The result was a cliched, poorly edited and idiotic mess of a film that actually took away from the previous two films rather than added to them. Everyone hated it and, as a result, 2018′s Overlord, which was totes going to be part of the Cloververse, was made its own standalone film and Abrams double pinky promised to make a true sequel to the original Cloverfield. A complete and total disaster. No wonder it was a straight-to-Netflix film.

The Handmaid’s Tale - Season 2
This is probably going to be the most controversial entry on the list, but please hear me out because I’m not the only one who has a problem with this season.
I was reluctant to watch The Handmaid’s Tale simply because of how gruesome the original book was, but I forced myself to watch the first season and I thought it was pretty good. It remained faithful to the source material for the most part and included some nice additions that helped to expand the story and mythos. If it was just a one off mini-series, everything would have been fine. But then they made the same mistake as The Man In The High Castle and Under The Dome did where they commissioned another season and attempted to tell a story that goes beyond the book.
There’s a reason why the original story ended where it did. The Handmaid’s Tale isn’t meant to be an empowering story about women sticking it to the patriarchy. It’s a cautionary tale about how fragile our civil rights truly are and how easily they can be taken away from us. It’s designed to shock, not to satisfy. So seeing a handmaid blow herself up in a suicide bombing feels very incongruous and just a little bit silly. It would be like doing a TV adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984 where the first season followed the source material and then the second season turned Winston Smith into this heroic freedom fighter trying to overthrow Big Brother. It would represent a fundamental misunderstanding of what the book was about in the first place.
And then of course there’s the increased level of violence in Season 2, which many have complained about. In Season 1 and the original source material, the violence was justified. In Season 2, the motivation behind the violence has gone from ‘how can we effectively demonstrate how easily a fascist patriarchy can happen in the West?’ to ‘what brutal act can we inflict upon Ofglen to shock the audience this week?’ It’s purely for shock and nothing more. And with the showrunner (who I feel I should mention is a man) announcing that he has planned ten seasons of this, it seems that The Handmaid’s Tale is going to go even further with this depravity until it effectively becomes the equivalent of a Saw film.
The Handmaid’s Tale exists as a way of shining light on and critiquing misogyny in its most extreme form. Season 2 however demonstrates that there is a serious risk of it becoming the very thing it’s criticising in the first place.

The Predator
I love the Predator franchise, but The Predator is the worst.
People thought that this would be good because director Shane Black had actually starred in the first Predator movie back in 1987. Instead we got this bloated, confusing, obnoxious and insulting mess of a film that seems to go out of its way to ruin everything that makes Predator so good. There’s no tension. No suspense. No intrigue. Just a bunch of gore, explosions and shitty one liners from annoying and lifeless characters. They essentially took this big alien game hunter from outer space and turned him into a generic monster from a bad summer blockbuster. It no longer hunts for sport. It wants to take over the world and splice our DNA with theirs. But don’t worry, a rogue Predator doesn’t want to kill humans (even though he himself kills a bunch of humans), so he gives us a Predator Iron Man suit to set up a sequel that will probably never happen because this movie was a box office bomb and it fucking SUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKEEEEEDDDD!!!
This film also has a very nasty streak towards those with disabilities. There’s a lot of jokes at the expense of a character with Tourette’s and it has an extremely ignorant and patronising view of autism, portraying the main character’s kid as being a super genius who can decipher the Predator language and even going so far as to say that he represents ‘the next stage of human evolution.’ Presumably the Predators want social communication difficulties because apparently it helps them hunt somehow.
What with Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, the future of both the Alien and Predator franchises were very much in question. This film needed to be a success in order to make a case for Disney to keep making more of them. It wasn’t. Congratulations Shane Black. You might have just killed off this franchise for good. Thanks arsehole! :D

RevieWBY: Volume 6
This has been stated so many times, but Volume 5 was bad. Okay, it wasn’t terrible, like I don’t feel offended by it being bad (unlike certain folks), but looking back on it I don’t have anything to say to really defend it as something Rooster Teeth should have talked up as much as they did at the time. It had some good things going for it, but the amount of problems it had in terms of animation and writing really put a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. So for Volume 6 to deal with all that fallout, it was going to have to do a lot. And to their credit, CRWBY accepted the criticism in stride, and actively worked to make Volume 6 something that people who despised Volume 5 might enjoy.
Still, one had to go into this season with the understanding that some people were never going to be completely satisfied with whatever CRWBY did. Because at the end of the day, the RWBY that Rooster Teeth currently makes is not Monty Oum’s show anymore. No, this isn’t saying CRWBY is in any way disrespecting his legacy, it’s just Monty Oum had a certain method to running the show that only he could really get away with: epic fight scenes, suddenly throwing giant curveballs into the series’ mythology, taking vital time away from storytelling so the fights looked cool. I mean, there are people who criticize the show for doing that now when they didn’t give two shits when Monty did it, because Monty did it in a manner that somehow worked. I don’t know how he did it, but he did, and, well, he’s not here to do it, and there’s no way even a huge animation team can collectively do things like him. And they shouldn’t: if they can use a better industry standard animation engine than Poser, than the fact that Monty Oum didn’t like animating with Maya shouldn’t stop them.
Blah blah blah...this is all about FNDM reception. What did I think of Volume 6?
Well...
Focus
In my mid-volume review I cited this as Volume 6′s strongest aspect, and as far as I can tell this remains the case. By focusing our hero storyline on one group and for the most part the villain storylines on only a few characters who were paired off, Volume 6 effectively told a story that didn’t force the viewers to juggle multiple things and find some semblance of a continuing story. Everything happened linearly and the whole thing made for a more enjoyable watch overall.
Tone
Building off of that renewed focus, this volume felt like it had more of a consistent tone that lasted from beginning to end. RWBY markets itself as an anime show and uses a lot of that anime-style of humor (slapstick and comedically exaggerated emotions), but honestly it’s always played fast and loose with using that humor in a way that doesn’t feel out of place. In this volume it was more consistently used, and that’s largely thanks to the nailed down focus that allowed character interactions to utilize the humor in a natural way. Ruby and Maria Calavera were especially good sources for humor.
Now, things did get a little more screwball when Cordovin came into the mix, but it was interesting seeing CRWBY take that humor to a logical extreme for the first time in a while (not since the Beacon years). It interrupted the tone for a bit, but not in a manner that overall changed the genre this show is going for.
Animation
Beautiful. The improved production pipeline that we’ve heard about really came through. These episodes were the best they’ve ever looked, minus a few errors here and there, showing just how amazing RWBY can look when you give the animators time to add their own touches. There was some really great fight animation to boot: none of the fights this volume felt awkward, and you could tell the animators had a lot of fun.
Worldbuilding/Storytelling
It feels weird saying that Volume 6 did a better job with worldbuilding than Volume 4, which took place on four different continents and traveled across one, and Volume 5, which took place on two different continents and featured the second major skirmish between the villains and the heroes. I think this has to do with just how well it was integrated into the story: insight into the world came at points where the story needed it and when the viewers wanted it. Nothing ever felt like a massive info dump better suited World of Remnant; where there was just too much information delivered that wasn’t relevant to what was happening in the show. Volumes 4 and 5 had this same problem with establishing the world, often telling us too much in a way that just didn’t feel natural to the story. With Volume 6, almost every chapter up until the final Argus arc included some form of that insight:
Chapter 1 showed us how ordinary civilians deal with traveling through Grimm territory––the steps they take to protect themselves
Chapter 2 showed us some aspects of the Mistral criminal underground, not telling us too much about it but suggesting it was much larger than what Cinder encountered.
Chapter 3 showed us...so many things.
Chapter 4 offered a sense of the stakes RWBY faced in relation to all of Remnant.
Chapter 5 and 6 gave us a glimpse at another form of non-city life in Remnant.
Chapter 7 introduced us to Argus, my favorite of all the Remnant cities we’ve seen; plus a glimpse into the life of the silver-eyed warriors; and a more representative depiction of what domestic life is like in Remnant
Chapter 8 told us what Atlas personnel who aren’t Ironwood or Winter are like, plus the long-awaited insight into how the silver eyes work.
Chapter 9 shows something of the effect the Battle of Beacon, and by extension Pyrrha’s death, had outside of our core group.
Things kind of teeter off with the finale arc, but that’s because worldbuilding became a little less important to what was going on. This is kind of a stretch, but the mech fight and the arrival of the Grimm in Argus give us an idea of how large non-capital cities defend themselves without just spelling everything out.
All in all, this volume delivered on some impressive worldbuilding, probably the best the series has had in a while. It wasn’t massive info dumps unless it needed to be (e.g. Chapter 3), and it offered just enough for other important things like the storytelling and the action to still be in the forefront.
Characters
Volume 5, despite the fact it involved the major reunion of Team RWBY after two volumes, felt like it was simply putting the main characters through situations without those situations really doing anything to develop them or define them as anything beyond what we already knew. Some characters fared better on the development front, namely Yang, but others, especially Ruby, just seemed to be along for the ride without us getting any insight into them. This is where the writing issue that came from separating everyone starting with Volume 4 really came to a head: too many different characters with their own story to cover, and sometimes those stories just didn’t do much for the character beyond existing as a situation they were in.
Volume 6 feels like the refutal of that, and that mostly has to do with the fact that we’re not juggling so many storylines anymore. When a major event happens to the heroes, everyone gets affected at the same time. The train crashes? DEVELOPMENT! Jinn’s story? DEVELOPMENT AND INSIGHT! Snowstorm? INSIGHT! The Apathy? DEVELOPMENT! Telling team JNR about Jinn’s story? DEVELOPMENT! Adam ambushes Blake and Yang for the first time since Volume 3? DEVELOPMENT! WITH A HEALTHY DOSAGE OF ANGST!
Surprisingly, the same thing is happening to two of our favorite villains, Mercury and Emerald: even though they only really appeared in three chapters this Volume, we actually got a surprising chance to see how their defeat at the Battle of Haven affected them, and their increasingly strong misgivings about working for Salem. We get more of an idea of them as people rather than Cinder’s blind followers, understanding why they stuck with such an evil person for so long. It’s the most we’ve learned about them since Volume 3, and we didn’t even need lengthy flashbacks.
Even Adam got some more insight. RWBY has been following the path that Adam was an abusive ex-boyfriend for quite a while now, but there was always this underlying thought that he got into the White Fang business for a seemingly noble cause. The problem was the show hadn’t depicted how he got from Point A to Point B. The Adam Character Short offered us some of that much needed insight, putting some of his actions up to this point in a new context, even if it was set-up for clearing up some things so they could get rid of him.
Of course, there are still exceptions to characters getting character development, and honestly they’re kind of glaring ones. Oscar’s development arc, where he came to accept he was his own person, completely happened offscreen (for reasons that I’ve brought up before and will reiterate in the final section), robbing us of really witnessing his growth as a person. I enjoyed some of the stuff Cinder did this volume, especially her escape from the vault and her fight with Neo. But honestly she continues to be a pretty bland villain with little hints at her motivations for being such a terrible person: the Battle of Haven was such an utter defeat for her there needed to be some form of consequence that would’ve affected her character while also telling us more about her. Maybe it would’ve been her strategizing her revenge, which would’ve gotten more insight into how she thinks as a master planner. Instead, we get her leaving the vault, more or less going back to what she used to do but in a more low-key setting, fighting with Neo, plotting with Neo, and leaving with Neo. It felt more like “Hey, she’s alive, and here’s what she’s doing,” which while I appreciate it feels kind of a waste of time if you’re not doing anything with her beyond that. Honestly, a post-credits reveal that she was alive and then a pre-Volume 7 character short detailing how she made it to Atlas that covered her and Neo’s entire storyline this volume would’ve been more helpful.
Before I go on to my most major critique of this volume, I need to address the two Goliaths in the room.
Adam
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: they needed to get rid of Adam. The way things have been going, there was only so much more you could do with his character before he became a nuisance that was overstaying his welcome. I understand people wanted some deeper insight into him, but the fact was he was never introduced to be a major villain to anyone beyond Blake and later Yang. They could’ve had him have a thing against Weiss, but they didn’t, they focused the time that would’ve made him a major villain for everyone else on making people like Roman and Cinder and Salem the big villains. They decided on the path of abusive ex-boyfriend a very long time ago, and if you hadn’t figured that out after the Adam Character Short I honestly think you were being willfully ignorant to what’s been building up.
The best I can say is that Adam and his history is a missed opportunity for some pretty interesting storytelling and worldbuilding, but the fact remains: it is not his story that they want to tell, it is not his show. It may make something interesting to think about, but Adam’s story is supplementary, and works better in supplementary material, a la character shorts and maybe mangas.
Jaune
Y’all need to quit it with the “Hrrr drr Jaune took up time again moan moan Miles Luna is self indulgent” talk, he barely did anything this volume beyond Chapter 9 and having a sister that the whole fandom loved.
Pacing
This...this is where Volume 6 ran into trouble.
Overall, from the season premiere to the finale arc, this was probably the best-paced season of RWBY we’ve ever had. Major story events happened right when we needed them, and for the most part they didn’t drag out story arcs for any longer than they needed to be.
Well...until they reached Argus, that is.
At face value, a lot happened in the final couple of chapters. Chapter 8 gave us Maria explaining the silver eyes, Chapter 9 had the scene with Pyrrha’s statue and the mysterious Red-Haired Woman (I’ll headcanon whatever I want about who she is, Jen Brown) Chapter 10 started the Cordovin fight, Chapter 11 reinforced Blake and Yang’s partnership, Chapter 12 killed Adam, and Chapter 13 had Ruby finally use her silver eye powers to defeat a Grimm and they made it to Atlas. Yeah, it was a pretty eventful set of episodes.
So then why did it feel like it dragged? Here are a couple reasons that I’ve identified.
1. The Cordovin Battle sidelined story arcs for too long
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: the finale arc should not have been split up like that over so many episodes. It afforded us some pretty well-animated fights, some of the best the series has ever had, but the volume hadn’t been relying on that action to keep up the forward momentum, but on actually telling the stories of these characters. I get the need for CRWBY to prove that they can do well-animated fights, but as I’ve come to accept action should never take precedence over storytelling (I know, that’s hard to swallow when parts of the fndm spends hours complaining about how Monty’s not animating the fights anymore). And it’s clear to me in this final arc put emphasis on the action over the momentum of the story, bringing the actually pretty good storytelling the volume had had up to that point to a grinding halt.
Now, historically RWBY fights have delayed telling stories, but it’s never been for too long, at most maybe two chapters? But if you spend three chapters on a single fight, thereby devoting three weeks of your viewers’ time to high-octane action, people are gonna notice that the story is basically going nowhere.
What could’ve made this less of a problem? Well, perhaps establishing Cordovin earlier and making her less of a buffoon would’ve eased my hatred of this arc. Volume 6 lacks a clear antagonist for the story, but the way Cordovin was treated as a big deal in this final battle made it seem like she was taking up that role, except we didn’t even see her until the final half of the volume, and in her debut we couldn’t take her seriously as a villain, much less an antagonist, because of the pure comedy they used in her intro. There needed to be something about her at least a few episodes early––take this with a grain of salt because I think following JNR in Argus would’ve killed the balanced pacing of the first half of the volume (and just made the Jaune haters apoplectic), but maybe a few quick scenes of JNR arriving in Argus and getting rejected by her would’ve been helpful. Or honestly easing off on the comedy of her intro. Such a one-note character who we are primed to not take seriously isn’t interesting as a major force, so identifying her as a more threatening roadblock for the heroes would’ve made the stakes of the final fight a little more...present.
2. Important storylines got trimmed for time’s sake and weren’t addressed properly.
@hypeathon (whose excellent production analyses for this Volume are well worth a read) identified a tweet Miles made back in October, prior to the premiere and most likely when they were finishing storyboards, about “killing your darlings.” For those unaware and who may have severely misinterpreted that comment, “killing your darlings” is when writers have to sacrifice something they love or want to do so that the story works better. The timeliness of this tweet (after they would’ve finished the script but before they’d wrapped on storyboards and voice acting for the final episodes) suggests the writers’ room had to cut a lot of material from Volume 6 (what Miles called a massacre of darlings), most likely due to production limits or not having enough time to cover them.
Think about it: the story from Chapters 1-7 was really good: everything was properly spaced out, the scripts felt polished, there was a balance of action and comedy and legit storytelling, the good pacing lasted longer than it ever has within a single volume.
Then we hit Chapter 8 and suddenly it all changes: storylines don’t get the proper time devoted to them, arcs come to a screeching halt due to the big fight. Unlike previous volumes, where the imbalance was pretty much the entire volume, there’s actually a clear point right in the middle of this volume where things suddenly took a turn for the worse. And the fact is, some of the problems with the story in the final arc suddenly make more sense if you accept that time that would’ve been devoted to it got sidelined in this “purge”: Qrow’s alcoholism suddenly getting brushed aside after Chapter 9 hopefully to be addressed next volume, Oscar disappearing and all his development happening offscreen, Adam’s completely unsubtle return after only a vague hint in Chapter 1 that would’ve been stronger if he’d kept popping up in Argus. I’d even go so far to say the odd pacing of the final few chapters could easily have been the result of the writing team not being able to devote a single chapter to such a grand fight, so they needed to stretch it out so CRWBY could actually animate it within reasonable deadlines, which meant sacrificing time for those arcs that so desperately needed development.
So what overall is gonna fix RWBY’s pacing in the future? Well, I think at the moment the show is too ambitious. If it wants to keep to a reasonable production schedule, they need to control the scale of their finales so that it can be completed without needing to sacrifice other storylines. If it wants to hold onto that ambition and make the finales as grand as they want it to be to do their boy Monty proud, then they absolutely need to delay the actual release of the volume so they can put in the proper amount of time to both the story and animation. And I don’t think anyone would mind waiting a little longer for Volume 7 if it meant this show got the care and attention it needs to tell the story it clearly wants to tell.
Conclusions
Evaluating Volume 6 is impossible without evaluating what came before it. RWBY was never a perfect show, but when you lose someone who was responsible for the show’s popularity in the first place and have to change how it’s made to make up for his absence, there’s going to be backlash. Backlash from the fans, and, uh, backlash from inside the company. The fact is, people are never going to be satisfied with the RWBY that Rooster Teeth makes today, and Rooster Teeth is never going to push out a RWBY that will make everyone happy. All they can really do is keep moving forward.
And move forward they did. Despite my problems with the finale, Volume 6 was good. I’ve always been sort of ambivalent about the show (I was drawn to it by my brother shortly before Monty’s death and have been watching it out of respect for him and the company as creative artists), and even if I thought some of RWBY’s critics were being too harsh (or seriously needed to find something better to do), I didn’t find Volumes 4 and 5 enjoyable enough that I felt like defending them. But guys, Volume 6 did something amazing: it made RWBY fun to watch again. Focused, consistent, and compelling storytelling plus gradually eased-in worldbuilding made for a story that I could follow along without having to juggle so many different plots. Improvements in the overall animation made things nice to look at and when fights happened they were always entertaining, never making me cringe or grimace, always making me think “Hell yeah, beat the shit out of them!” Just like I felt back in the old days of the show.
I feel as though what’s holding RWBY back at this point, however, is adhering to the production schedule that its old vision called for in making its current vision. And it honestly cannot keep doing that. RWBY is a show trying to reach grand heights, and its rushed production timelines and lost story arcs are keeping it tethered to the ground. Yet I can’t help but say: Volume 6 is RWBY at its finest so far. It can’t fix the problems that previous volumes have had, but it builds on the void those problems left to build a story that makes this show feel like something worth following once more.
So, I can safely say I’ll be following along when RWBY returns for Volume 7...hopefully later rather than sooner (again, it needs a better production schedule).

edit sorry this post is both long (if the readmore fails i am truly truly sorry) & longwinded im just reflecting and thinking; (another edit: u can probably just read the tl dr and get it)
anyway allow me to spin some very personally based theory here for a mo while i put off/warm my fingers up from the cold in preparation to email my therapist
so growing up i had, i think only, het ships, but i never quite had the ones you were (narratively speaking) “supposed to” have
in most media i recall when i was a kid, there were like, 2 diff structures of character romance plot arcs in media i consumed, there was the main lead and 2 best friends model, where thered be the star of the show who had outside romantic leads and the 2 best friends (who were always a boy and a girl) would have their secondary romance, OR there were ensemble shows where there was a more clear romance set up between the main boy and main girl, then side characters whod pair off in whatever ways ended up happening. in the first, see: hannah montana, the second, see: zoey 101. obv this isnt a hard rule and there were loads of exceptions but like, lets just say i tended not to care for the romances set up for the main girls in the trio models, or quite as hard for the main boy and girl in the ensembles, and in general if there was an obvious romance between two leads i either didnt care or outright hated it
basically i never liked the ships they set up for us in straight media, as a kid (namely, a girl) i liked being that “ew pink!” “i hate valentines day” sort of contrarian, but what i remember actually disliking was the predictability of it, because i clearly still shipped characters, so it wasnt /really/ that i hated romance, per se
looking back on it i think it was probably or at least to a degree more like that i hated the hetero expectation of it- i can nit pick down to more specific examples of why i disliked the main pairings (kataang, for example, i thought was weird bc katara acted like a mother/older sister figure to aang, and i didnt feel like there was romance between them at all except where it felt shoehorned in) - maybe it was also that i thought it made more sense for a main character to be with someone they clearly already spent a lot of time with and not some random new hot boy in town (i very distinctly remember shipping miley and oliver on hannah montana, and i believe that was the first time i ever read fanfiction @ age like... 11 lol) as is often the case w like these things.
theres another level to this though, which is that i notice i tended to ship characters who were more vaguely similar to each other, like, physically (ie, similar heights, or hair colors mainly) obviously this is funny now since my main pairing is johnlock which is such a physically different ship we can construct them from basic shapes and colors and theyre still recognizable as who they are, but i have some thoughts about this- but i think there might be two interesting things about this again in retrospect
first of all, this sounds silly ik, but shipping the vaguely similar ones as a child’s way of queering heterosexuality is an interesting concept and not that difficult, like, two boys are also vaguely similar to each other in a similar way a boy and a girl with the same hair color and height might be, which is something i thought of a while ago
the other way in which this is really interesting to me now, that i think might have been more actually pertinent to myself as a trans child, is that i think i shipped the characters i did in an attempt to morph the concept of boy and girl? to find the boy counterpart to every girl??? that second one makes more sense actually. anyway, i digress
2 start off i definitely had gender feelings starting from a very young age so i think these observations ring more true than just reflections, PERHAPS
so the first thing i remember shipping, ie wanting them to be together, thinking about it an inordinate amount of time outside watching the films, even imagining them eating ice cream together in their pjs (i was NINE DHFJGghfkg) was jack sparrow & elizabeth swan from potc (basically my franchise of choice as a kid bc i never read harry potter) now this doesnt quite fit the “visually similar” thing bc actually orlando bloom looks more like kiera knightly and is prob due to them like making out in one movie, but i think this works for the “shipping as gender expression” theory, because elizabeth swan dressed up as a boy, spent most of that movie wearing boy’s clothes, etc- meanwhile jack was a wacky pirate which like hello duh i’d want to be. so i wonder if beyond the fact that they kissed and flirted, there was something to this concept of me wanting two characters to be together, meant i wanted to marry together two conceptual things happening with two characters, or absorb the cool dude and the boyish girl characters into each other to make one whole archetype for myself? i likewise shipped aang and toph (toph who, normally doesnt really have anyone to be shipped with, since she likes sokka but he has a gf) who we all know is the VERY boyish girl character, so boyish im p sure her actually being a trans dude later in life is a p decently accepted headcanon (i dont actually delve into aatla fandom though so i can only hope)
another thing about this ship thing, is most of my ships had brown hair (like miley and oliver), just like i always have, and in certain cases the girl character would look a LOT like me (i also shipped logan and quinn on zoey 101, which to my surprise n delight actually came true later (although looking back im like... 11 yr old me is glad they made out a lot but adult me is like uhhh why were the kids on this show making out a lot? anyway thats another issue) and i def was a weirdo girl with glasses and long brown wavy hair) which sort of further fuels my feeling that this was an attempt by my brain to do 1 of 2 things, if my own involvement really was a greater motivating factor in this thing, 1. ship MYSELF with a boy (which is like def possible for my gay kinnie ass, but not quite my thesis here) or 2. morph these boy and girl counterparts by imagining them together, seeing them together, etc
for example, i realize now, when i was a kid i drew an avatar sona for myself and said sona looked an awful lot like how id imagine a katara/zuko fusion would be, and the fact that i shipped zutara (very hard lol) was what lead me down this thought path rn
i feel like even to me this concept sounds weird and far fetched but like, gem fusion made enough sense for someone to write with its clearly, usually, romantic implications and we all “get” that, so whom knows???
another thing ive noticed while writing this is for a good few of these ships you can argue the boys in them can be read gay, like jack sparrow and zuko and aang, which feels even more strongly like me trying to marry my gay boy feelings to my tomboy realities [thinking emoji]
the biggest reason i think this makes sense to me is because when i was 10 i became obsessed with the idea that this boy i was friends with and i were secretly twins separated at birth, like i was so into the concept that we looked alike, i like hoped and wished so hard for it to be true, i wished a christmas miracle would happen for fucking real and a magic door in my house would open and be his new room and itd all work out perfectly! and you might think this was a manifestation of my difficulties with my family and wishing to leave it, but in my dream world my parents were still my parents and he came to live with us- which makes me think the obsession of ME looking like this BOY was a manifestation of my gender feelings, which i think can maybe be traced to this concept of pairing a visually similar, possibly gay, brunette boy to every brunette and/or tomboyish girl
anyway. if you actually read all of this id love it if you lmk somehow (doesnt need to be a like) like this is clearly very long and strange but i hope it makes sense. i think i stop myself a lot from ever commenting on gender or theory or whatever but i am a living breathing trans person who has experienced things and i have opinions and i dont think im claiming anything destructive with this lol i think its not unusual to reflect on the way you interacted with the world as a gay/trans kid
also im obviously not saying that shipping straight things is somehow inherently queer, im not trying to retroactively claim something about straight ships, like, those two characters are still functionally straight, and i definitely also shipped probably all of them for normal shipping reasons (although, kid ones, so less “oh theres a lot of ACTUAL romantic subtext between these two” but rather “oh theyre friends and would be cute together!” (or like they kissed and i was like O: )) but im just trying to theorize about something its possible my tiny trans brain was trying to express- and who knows maybe im not the only one!
anyway i guess the TL;DR is: when i was a kid i had a lot of “unconventional” straight ships- i already observed that i eschewed the main canon pairings in kids media in what was probably my tiny baby brains rejection of hetero culture, but i also actively shipped side characters who looked like me, and also looked like each other (ie, both tall and brunette, a boy and girl counterpart of Each Other) OR characters who seemed to be a gayish boy and a tomboyish girl, and im theorizing that maybe the reason that was was my tiny trans brain wanting to gem fusion those two together because of my Gender Feelings and fuse the boy with the girl and this desire manifested in shipping therefore thinking about a lot these pairings of boy and girl counterparts

this isn't really in line with the meme but what would a Good series eleven have been like? or how can series twelve turn it around/be better?
hm…………………………re: eleven, the only aspect of eleven’s personality i would change is his needless misogyny, because i don’t think that’s necessarily a “component” of eleven, so much as it is…moffat. and really this would be mostly solved by just eliminating all of the creepy, unsettling scenes where rory and the doctor are mutually possessive over amy or collude somehow in treating her like an object (e.g. vampires of venice when rory thanks the doctor for being needlessly cruel to amy and patronizing her like a child, or when eleven is supposedly only allowed to hug amy for a certain amount of time with rory’s permission lmao and don’t even get me started on the girl who waited). i wouldn’t change some of eleven’s worst tendencies (like his constant, prolonged lies–keeping the ring and rory’s existence from amy in S5, the doppelganger and mystery pregnancy fiasco in S6, etc.) or eleven’s selfishness in valuing amy at least in part for how much she blindly adores him, or even “never let him see the damage. and never, ever let him see you age” and all the kind of hideous implications that come with it. i don’t think eleven is…a good man, and i find that interesting, especially in relation to ten (although the 50th imo horribly wasted that dynamic, which had so much more to give). i like the basic concept of ten in his endless compassion, burdening himself with so much pain that the doctor regenerates into a man who is as equally as selfish as he is loving, who does his best to forget and bury his mistakes instead of acknowledging and atoning for them.
my issue is literally just that amy isn’t treated as an equal of eleven’s! even putting aside the obvious power imbalance of amy idolizing eleven from childhood, their basic, everyday interactions are weighed so heavily against amy it’s almost painful to watch at times. one way to solve this would be to emphasize and acknowledge the flaws (eleven’s) i mentioned earlier. eleven’s selfishness is alluded to in episodes like the god complex, but always in a way that empathizes with him and absolves him, rather than highlighting amy’s perspective and the ways in which his selfish actions negatively effect her. even when eleven feels pain it isn’t the same as when, say, ten does because eleven always has a loophole…he’s always a hundred steps of everyone else (amy included).
i mean, look at pandorica opens/big bang…rory is furious (rightfully so, obviously) when eleven basically implies amy’s life doesn’t “matter” in the grand scheme of things, but we later find out he’s only saying this because he’s traveling from a future point in time when amy is already alive again and fine. even when he “dies” at the end of big bang, we later learn he knew all along that amy would be able to remember him back into existence. there are no stakes for eleven, he’s too absurdly smart for any to exist. one of the only times he faces consequences is when he loses amy permanently in angels take manhattan, and that’s telling enough in itself.
compare this w/ clara who’s constantly given teachable moments with twelve even opportunities to outthink twelve! an episode like, say, flatline could never exist with eleven and amy, the dynamic as it is couldn’t support it…eleven beholden to amy, amy acting as undisputed leader. and i’m not saying that amy isn’t smart because she is, and there’s tangible proof of that–but not smarter than eleven–never, not even for a second. that’s the conceit of eleven as a character, untouchable god “the doctor in the tardis, next stop everywhere.” eleven doesn’t defer to amy because it would literally break his character to do so and that imo is the greatest failing of their dynamic.
the other, obviously, is that amy isn’t given the means to fight back when eleven disrespects or belittles her…and this is just another side of the same coin. amy’s anger is deliberately framed as kind of…impotent. moffat likes the idea of amy as a “spitfire,” but when push comes to shove it’s always expected that she’ll fall into line when the doctor demands it. it’s played for laughs that amy ignores him and does as she pleases (and she does, when the two of them are on friendly terms–like in vincent and the doctor when eleven orders her not to follow) but in life-or-death moments when amy’s life is at stake, she isn’t even allowed to question the doctor’s authority. it’s supposed to be funny when the doctor tells amy to shut up when she says she’s afraid she’s going to die. if rory were to pull that on her, can you imagine how she would react? but moffat deliberately declaws amy around the doctor, and the implications of that are…really unsettling, if you would rather not just attribute it to virulently misogynistic writing (which it also is, of course). clara and twelve have big blowout fights and yet this is pretty starkly absent from eleven and amy’s relationship…she may snipe at him from time to time, but overwhelmingly amy is expected to roll her eyes and huff and storm off and listen. eleven is barely given reason to feel guilty on these occasions, let alone confront or regret his actions. because, again: eleven cannot be wrong. and a doctor that cannot be wrong…inherently has no need of a companion. i mean, think of what donna says to ten: "i think sometimes you need somebody to stop you.” how many times has amy been empowered to successfully “stop” eleven from doing anything, ever.
the tl;dr on this is that amy needs so much more agency in their relationship than she was given (but what else is new, she needs more agency throughout her run in almost ever aspect of it). i think…there are elements of something really beautiful in their relationship–and amy does love him without qualifications, which is more than can be said of rory, obviously, even if it’s largely because of what eleven represents for her. i think there are moments where eleven regards amy with a kind of reverence, which we see similarly with twelve and clara later, and it’s…touching. if they had expanded on that thread, it might have grown into something that equaled amy’s childhood adoration of eleven–maybe into something that would prompt eleven to value amy’s input a little bit more than he ever seemed to in canon. there’s a lot there that’s good (the basic template is peter and wendy, and i could not possibly love that more if i tried), but the execution is…really poor, really deeply tainted by moffat’s misogyny and it favors eleven to a ridiculous extent. there’s always that sense of discomfort, like the whole relationship is skewed by how imbalanced it is and how frequently amy’s suffering is exploited to fuel eleven’s rage and grief despite the fact that he can’t seem to bring himself to even respect her as a person half the time.

🌹izumin | 🍁izumin, yuzuru, weedman | 🌻hiromin, kotorin, izumin, taka | 💐yuzuru, kotorin, pettan, nakajima | 🌿izumin, taka | 🌺weedman, rinrin, yuzuru
reeee the read more better work now
🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?
his moms apartment is probably the place where izumin feels the most at home. mommas boy. he just really likes his mom. it does tire him out a lot to be around his aunt/siblings though so he also cant stick around for very long because he doesnt feel all that welcome (its his own fault its ok).
🍁 Where does your OC go when they need to have some time to themself? Would they ever have their own “comfort corner” filled with all the things they like? Do they have a favourite spot outside that feels like its theirs and theirs alone?
izumins apartment is probably the closest to an actual comfort spot to him because he can escape there when he doesnt want anybody to bother him for a while, but he isnt really emotionally attached to it much so its pretty arbitrary. he doesnt like to decorate much because its just more stuff to clean.
yuzuru doesnt really have a specific place. he does like to hoard/decorate, but if he needs alone time he generally prefers to just wander outside on his own aimlessly.
weedman has his own room back home!! he rarely ever needs/wants alone time, but if he had to, he would just bundle up in there with a bunch of snacks. its a huge mess because he doesnt know what organizational skills are, and the walls are covered in tv posters.
🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?
hiromin really likes being invited to random events (even if she has to or wants to decline) because it helps make her feel like shes a bit more normie and people appreciate her presence. she also gets very excited whenever she manages to recognise a pop culture reference.
kotorin is a bit of a peoplewatcher and she tends to feel very proud for other people when they push themselves to step out of their comfort zone and get something done that they didnt think theyd be able to. she tends to get very excited when people feel comfortable enough to goof around with her because it shows that they arent intimidated by her. she really likes being sent cute animal videos/pictures and she loves the kind of tiny animal figures you can get from gachapon machines.
when izumin really likes somebody, he likes to see them get excited about really tiny things, or mess around and make really bad jokes, even though hes very much in denial about it (and will sometimes even poke fun at the person for it). he tends to feel very excited when animals hes never interacted with approach him to ask for pets. he also really likes it when strangers who obviously have no idea who he is ask him for tiny favors. he tends to get very excited when he finds a person whos even a little interested in musical theater.
taka really likes sending/being sent random memes, especially when the other person has clearly no idea what the meme means. he likes seeing people be very clueless in general as long as its about something harmless because he finds it very funny (also it boosts his self esteem). he really likes rainy days because he finally has an excuse to lie around doing nothing all day. also getting a UR in gacha games maybe
💐 How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?
yuzuru is a bit of a workaholic when it comes to things hes genuinely passionate about so if he were to get sick he would absolutely try to pretend that hes fine until he collapses or something. he would be complaining a lot more about not being allowed to do things rather than how hes feeling though hed eventually attempt to actually rest if he was badgered hard enough about it. hes probably the most careful with physical injuries as theyre somehow more serious in his mind, so he actually takes proper precaution with them.
hes really good at taking care of other people. hes a bit quick to panic but he generally tends to calm down relatively fast. he can and will remember all of your meds for you, and he will take on all of the chores without any complaints.
kotorin is sort of a tsundere about it. she really likes to be spoiled when she feels ill but shes too embarrassed to ask for it straight out. usually she will try to take it easy while still getting some amount of work done until someone yeets her into bed. she will usually just silently lurk in the gc or scroll through social media until she finds someone who will keep her company.
shes pretty good at taking care of people as well. shes not really easy to freak out and shes very practically minded.
pettan is a big baby. she will be whining the entire time about how awful she feels (even when its not too bad) and she will either want to be completely left alone or cling to somebody like theres no tomorrow. she will beg people to do her chores and she wont have any qualms about just lying in bed all day.
she doesnt really know how to take care of other people because she doesnt have much experience with it. shes pretty easily freaked out and at times tends to assume something is a lot worse than it actually is, which can lead her to just kind of flail aimlessly instead of actually being helpful. shes most likely to be helpful when shes consulting google, though even then she can be way more dramatic than she needs to be.
nakajima is just a dying old man. if he still has work left he will do his best to push through it until the bitter end, if hes free he will just collapse into a pile and just sleep through the entire thing. hes not super reluctant to ask close friends to help out a little though.
hes pretty good at taking care of other people too (altho who would ask him lol loser has no friends). he knows a lot of home remedies off the top of his head and hes really good at giving advice.
🌿 What way does your OC show that they care without using words? What way do others show your OC that they’re cared about without using speech?
both izumin and taka are a lot more prone to doing favors for other people rather than being verbally affectionate. they generally pay attention to what sort of things the other person likes/appreciates and save the information for later then surprise the other person with it. izumin is a lot more prone to complaining than taka when it happens to involve him having to do something he doesnt like though.
🌺 What does your OC do to calm down when they’re scared or after a nightmare? Do they have any special comfort items or need to be reassured by a specific person? How do they handle this if they’re alone?
weedman is extremely needy and will physically cling to any friend he can find (taka is preferable but really anyone he gets along with works). if thats not an option, he will bundle up and try to binge a bunch of youtube videos or read up on super sentai stuff.
natsurin likes to pat and cuddle with his pets. humans would also be fine but hes not the type who would go to someone for help. he also has a few comfort foods (mostly desserts).
yuzuru is kind of embarrassed to be seen as anything but competent so unless its with really close friends, he will do his best to put on a tough act and pretend that everything is fine. hes likely to just lie awake in bed and browse on his phone (maybe chat someone as nonchalantly as he can manage) until he feels like he can fall asleep again, or get out of bed and attempt to clean/cook.

I want to learn about all your Mob Psycho 100 OC's!!! Tell me everything! Can I join the discord?
oh.. oh my goodness??!!! thank you !
I’ll try and tell you as much as i can without rambling on too much! Also I’m not sure what you mean by discord since I’m not on any particular mp100 discord chat but i am on the amino which you should totally join
more under the cut cause its gonna be long
First, my main oc is Kayoko. She’s the first oc I ever made and is a clairvoyant who specilizes in manipulation over “randomized” chances. ex: choosing the right card from a deck, flipping a book open to the right page, get chosen from raffles etc… you could say she has incredible “luck”. She uses her power to … gamble a lot… She’s not exactly a stand up student by any means and is brutally honest to those around her. Bit of a delinquent as she is rather quick to anger and throw punches. But she is loyal to her friends at the very least.
She’s part of a board games club (named C.A.R.B.S) that includes 4 other people (…technically five but im going by my own canon route) that includes:Mausyo the president: a snobbish stuck up girl who is secretly just an anime nerd who acts like a shitty 90s anime villain Kenta, a well behaved and a slight doormat type whose half british and is terribly homesick. If he left the club, it would all collapse. Hibiki, Kayoko’s best friend who is an obnoxious loud brat that likes biting everything in sight. Constantly fighting something. And finally Rin… the… trainwreck. He’s a really embarrasing over the top wannabe “cool kid” who should have probably died five months ago by the amount of product he sticks on his face.
I have a few other minor kid ocs that include Ben (one of the delinquents ritsu beat up in the alleyway who had a change of heart), Fleurette (my aoyama/Saison Margeurite hybrid rip-off), and  Ayama (Hibiki’s older goth sister who goes to Teru’s school).
Next come the adults!
I have two main adult ocs, Noriko and Yuudai. Noriko is a police woman living in seasoning city also with psychic powers. She specialises in barriers and defence. Think about it when Teru inverted his barrier when battling that fire guy. Now that that and expand upon it. She is.. not very good at her job and seems to always experience some sort of extreme emotion. She is ADAMANT about justice, chasing down even the most petty thief for miles and causing massive damage costs in the process… she is reckless to say in the least. Although she seems to cause more damage than good, the police force hasn’t fired her because she’s an excellent baker who brings in food for peoples birthdays and special occasions. She is protective over Kayoko and only wants the best for her, as well as all teens and children. She seems to always go easy on them ei: never throwing them into prison. The reason why? She claims kids just “don’t know what they’re doing”
Next is the asshole himself Yuudai. Now just imagine the most vile sleazy door to door salesmen who also works as an 80s car dealer on the side line, smoking lines of coke between “helping” customers and always feeling the need to express his lewd thoughts when around a woman even in the most slightly revealing outfit yet when he’s doing none of those he’s jerking it to a google image search of the word “boob” because he doesn’t understand how the internet works and when he doesn’t have internet access he’s accessing his collection of 20 year old playboy mags which are probably as crusty as his entire damn face because i don’t think this man even knows what public hygiene is. Also i should add his esper ability it the power to see into the past of a certain location. Ex: he goes into a room with a safe and in his mind he can “rewind” time to a point where he sees someone from a past event unlocking the safe, thus yuudai learns the combo. He cant interact with the past but for sure can see it so he uses this power to do sleazy detective work.
also to everyone’s surprise (or… not-so-surprise depending) he has a young daughter named Junko (i gotta credit @starplatinyaa for co-making her cause shes a joint collab oc. also worth mentioning she also made the “5th” unmentioned member of C.A.R.B.S) whose..oddly enough considering her father, the complete opposite and quite a ray of sunshine?? She also LOVES insects and holds a deep curisoty for the world. also yuudai will never mention this but hes got a soft spot for her
Now onto some other minor adult ocs! heh.. this list is getting long so ill try and keep this short. For other adult ocs I got:
Sal: a creepy psychic lady living out in the forest by her lonesome. She has a morbid ability of soul manipulation ans seems to hate anybody getting near her… think of her as one of those weird slasher villains but with a heavier emphasis on backstory
Verin: a talented cynical mangaka who is fascinated by religion and mythology. He listens to epic power metal 24/7 and has a ton of nordic-themed tattoos all around him. He also finds espers to be ultra interesting and will pester one relentlessly with questions if he finds one.
Gundma: a Claw member whose…a grandma with a gun. she takes no shit but also acts very kind to her division members.Furi: a 45 year old furry Claw member who.. well.. is a furry. He acts cat-like and can produce wolverine-esque claws with his psychic ability. Tsutoneru: she smokes weed… can control temperature… doesnt believe canada exists and also is a Claw member.
Theres also a few ocs i have in the works currently, a group of three idol fans and the singer they love.
SO THATS IT! man sorry i wrote a lot here ;;; but thank you so much for asking!
also if anyone wants to rp… im 100% DOWN

The Balance Between Novelty and Stability - and How That Affects Your Dollars and Cents
Recently, I had a face-to-face conversation with a reader (yep, this happens every once in a while; I have a few readers in my local community that Im not close friends with, but they recognize me and seem to always have some sort of question or topic to bring up in conversation) about the idea of having everyday meals for the family, something I mention often as a frugal strategy. For those unclear, an everyday meal is just a meal that Sarah or I can prepare quickly and easily on any given weeknight that our family really likes. You might call it a staple meal or a regular meal. For us, those meals include things like spaghetti with tomato sauce, scrambled eggs and pancakes, chili, and tuna casserole. Both Sarah and I can whip those things out in a jiffy without even a second thought; the recipes are internalized and efficient. This reader was pretty pointed: dont meals like that get boring? My gut instinct was to tell the reader no without really thinking about it, but instead I said, Hmm Ill give that some thought, and suggested a post on the topic might appear soon. Over the next few weeks, I had some conversations with my family about the topic in a roundabout way. I mostly just asked for meal suggestions and asked what meals they liked the best. Our three children were all pretty specific on what meals they liked the best. My youngest loves any sort of pasta and cheese combination if it has pasta and cheese, hes in. My middle child loves taco night above all else. My oldest loves chili and enchiladas above all else. Interestingly, if I have them pick a meal that they think all three of them will like, theyll pick pizza, whether its homemade or picked up somewhere. My wife listed a litany of meals she really likes. I asked them what they thought about trying different meals and the children were all okay with it as long as their favorites remained in regular rotation and I avoided certain specific foods. My wife is more on board with trying new things, but she also still wanted a few favorites in rotation. They all said that they like to try variations on the familiar dishes, like trying a chili variant or experimenting with a pizza, than something radically different. It turns out that Im probably the most adventurous and experimental eater in my family, but even I enjoy our everyday meals. I actually like varying them a little and trying new angles on the same old things (like experimenting with cheeses for the mac and cheese) and, when I have time, making things as from scratch as possible, like making fresh pasta for pasta night or making from-scratch bread or making my own vegetable stock (just soaking vegetable scraps in the slow cooker). This realization, along with some Google searching, led me to this interesting article on Food52 by Amanda Hesser entitled Im the Food Expert, But My Kids Love My Husbands Cooking. Her experience falls right in line with my own: Her family is fine with experimentation, but they end up putting a lot of value on regular repeated family meals. Theyd rather have daddys pasta (rotelle pasta wagon wheels with a simple sauce) than something unusual or complex, and she often would, too: Im an unabashed homebody. A comforting home and stability are things I have an almost desperate need to maintain. And yet, even when I have a home that feels comforting and right, Im always itching to iterate and improve the physical spaceto paint a wall, rearrange the furniture, recover the chairs. The same thing happens in my kitchen. I may love being in the kitchen and cooking for family, but I clearly cant help myself from exploring some new taste, technique, or idea. This urge for newness and evolution worked for me for many years. When I was a full-time writer, whose job was to constantly discover and write about whats next, it was like feeding candy to my pathology. Now that I have kids, though, to whom I feel an intense responsibility to nurture a sense of security not to mention, to establish family traditions my searching ways floundered. The night after the podcast interview, while joking about it over dinner, I asked the kids what dishes of mine they liked. They paused and looked at each other. It was difficult for them to conjure up anything specific. Kids rarely need to be direct for their message to be loud and clear. If I wanted them to remember my cooking, I had to slow down, I had to repeat, I had to make food that they could count on. Like their daddy did with pasta. Over the past few years, Ive done just this. Ive stuck with dishes, and I keep a folder of recipes we like to go back to again and again Robertas garlic dressing, porchetta, and Thai steak salad. This made me think quite a bit about my own change in food habits during my life. When I was growing up, my family definitely had regular meals that we repeated with frequency. Im sure, looking back, that those meals were fairly convenient for my parents to make and that doing so had become, with practice, quite easy for them. There was another factor going on, though: it provided a touchstone of shared experience. There were certain dishes that we would have frequently that I would love to smell coming in the door, not just because they were delicious, but because they made me feel things like family and safety and comfort. When I reached adulthood, that feeling basically went away unless I was visiting family. I either viewed food simply as forgettable fuel or I purely chased novelty by eating at a wide variety of expensive restaurants or preparing really fancy things at home on occasion, like a $30 grilled steak. For all of the expensive meals I ate in my twenties, none of them filled me with the sense of familiarity and comfort that my mothers humble tuna casserole would make me feel, or the smell of a fried egg cooked in just a bit of butter with a lot of black pepper on it. Those things made me feel something beyond mere food they made me feel safe and loved and comfortable. An expensive meal might be delicious, but its usually a one-shot thing simply because of the financial constraints of 99.9% of Americans. Thus, it can never create those feelings of home like humble dishes eaten frequently with loved ones can create. Theres a clip at the end of the movie Ratatouille where the hardened food critic Anton Ego takes a bit of a dish prepared by the humble hero Remy. The dish is the titular ratatouille, a pretty humble dish thats basically just a casserole of sliced vegetables, and Ego initially turns up his nose at it. But when he takes a bite well, watch for yourself: [embedded content] What does this hardened critic think of when he tries the dish? His mind doesnt consider flavors or texture. Rather, he flashes back to his grandmothers kitchen when he was a child. He has feelings of peace and love and comfort and family. Those feelings dont exist the first time you try a dish or even the third or fifth or tenth. Rather, they come from a body of positive experiences over time, and they can be triggered by the most humble of things. You dont need an expensive restaurant meal to feel those feelings; in fact, youll almost never feel that way unless youre a regular at a family-owned restaurant. On the other hand, you can get that feeling from something as simple as an egg fried in a bit of butter with a bit of black pepper on it. Were really talking here about two different values that are at least somewhat in opposition to each other. Novelty comes when you try a new experience. Youre interacting with new people. Youre trying a new meal. Youre going to a new store. Youre going to a new place. Those are enjoyable experiences our brains like novelty. Yet, at the same time, novel experiences dont last. They dont scratch the same itch that familiar experiences do. Stability, on the other hand, comes when you enjoy a familiar experience of some kind. Youre enjoying time with family or close friends. Youre eating a family favorite meal. Youre hanging out at a familiar haunt. Those are also enjoyable experiences and familiarity breeds enjoyment. Such experiences fulfill us in a completely different way than novelty does. Whats really interesting to note here is that novelty is typically more expensive than familiarity. New products come with a price premium. They require additional travel because youre familiar with the things in your area. Restaurants you havent tried before are often the expensive ones because youve already tried all of the regularly priced ones. This is not to say novelty is always more expensive than stability, but that its frequently the case. What does all of this mean in terms of our finances, then? First of all, its easier to be frugal if you have an appreciation for familiar experiences. If you hold familiar experiences in disdain or if your life history has made it difficult to build up familiar experiences, its hard to find appeal in them and youre going to inherently seek novelty. Remember, the psychological benefit of novelty is much easier to enjoy than the psychological benefit of stability and familiarity. Novelty can be experienced at pretty much any moment; stability and familiarity take time and a history of positive similar experiences. So, in a practical sense, there is a great deal of frugal value in finding simple experiences you like and repeating them (or close variations on them) until the familiarity brings additional joy. For example, Ive come to love sitting in the soft brown chair in our house with several windows nearby and just reading a book. It is an experience I indulge in often and I get a great amount of joy out of that experience, not just because it feels good, but because it inherently reminds me of the many moments when it felt good in the past. It feels comforting to sit there with a book in my hand. I feel it when Im playing a familiar board game with close friends, where we all know the rules and we all feel comfortable with each other. I feel it when Im making a pot of chili or a homemade pizza for my family and then we gather around the table and eat it together and talk about our day. I feel that warm stability in many experiences in my life, and Ive come to intentionally notice it and value it. Those types of experiences, because of their repetition, almost have to be very inexpensive or free out of necessity. If there was a significant cost in such a repeated experience, it would cause a great deal of financial damage, which brings me to my second point. Constantly chasing novel experiences is hard on the wallet. If I want to eat at a new restaurant every night, thats going to cost a lot of money over time. If I want to simply have something new for dinner every night, the cost of all of those different ingredients is going to add up (not to mention the time invested in constantly jumping from culinary technique to culinary technique without mastering any of them). If I want to read the latest books constantly, Im going to have to buy them, and popping $15 to $20 for a new hardcover once or twice a week adds up fast. If I want to play the latest board games constantly, I have to routinely spend $30 to $40. If I want to watch the latest movies constantly, I have to routinely spend $10 or $15 at the theater (Id probably buy a movie pass, but it still adds up). You get the idea. A constant stream of novel experiences is expensive. Theres an even bigger problem A costly novel experience that you start to repeat until it takes on some aspects of familiarity is a road to financial disaster. Lets say you go to a coffee shop and its a wonderful novel experience. You decide to go again and again and again. Slowly, it starts to become a familiar and stable experience. You feel a certain comfort in that routine. The problem is that the routine is expensive and engaging in it with frequency is like acid on your budget. Another element Ive personally noticed is that most of the really valuable stable experiences I have in my life things like familiar family dinners, familiar experiences with friends, and so on are incredibly inexpensive ones. The family dinners that are really successful on all cylinders are ones where were gathered around the table with people we love and who love us, eating a food we all enjoy and basking in the afterglow of many such dinners before us that have built a certain bond. You can get some of that while chasing novelty at the latest restaurant, but you miss some of it, too, and youre also hammering your wallet. None of this is to say that novelty doesnt have value. It does have tremendous value. Many of the joys of life are held in new experiences. Yet there are many elements of life that novelty cant bring to the table and cultivating stability often provides those elements. If you take one message home from all of this, its that novelty is fine, but theres a tremendous financial value in appreciating the positive stable experiences in life. Find the small things you actually enjoy (not things that merely pass time), whether theyre shared experiences or solo experiences, and fill your life with them. Repeat them, so that they take on a sense of familiarity and stability. Vary them, so that they dont become boring, either you wouldnt read the same book over and over or watch the same television show over and over, but you might consistently read in your favorite chair or watch a new episode of a beloved program while cuddling with your partner. Dont abandon novelty that would make life dull but dont overlook or abandon the many values of stability and what it can bring, too. Enjoy that simple comfort food with family. Enjoy that comfortable chair and a book from the library from your favorite author. Theres incredible value to be found in that kind of stability and it wont erode your finances. Good luck. Suggested Host Lead: Dating Apps have been on the rise lately! i wondered what peoples takes on said applications were. Alex is a 22 Year old from Long Island, New York. he had been in a relationship for a while before he was able to dive in to the new era of Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, JSwipe, Coffee Meets Bagel… you know dating apps!
CUT 1: “WE MET AT DIZZYS BUT SHE HAD LIVED ON MY FLOOR SO I HAD ONLY SPOKEN TO HER WHEN WE HAD FLOOR MEETINGS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR AND THEN SHE ASKED ME TO MEET HER AT DIZZYS AND THEN YOU KNOW..”
HEARING ABOUT HOW HIS PAST RELATIONSHIP WAS LONG LASTING MADE ME WONDER IF PUTTING HIMSELF OUT THERE ON TINDER WAS INTIMIDATING AT ALL
CUT 2:  “THE RUNNING JOKE IS YOU KNOW YOU WANNA MAKE SURE YOURE NEVER DATING A SERIAL KILLER AND DOING THIS KIND OF GIVES YOU MORE OF A FEEL TO WHO THEY ARE AS A PERSON AND YOURE NOT CAUGHT OFF GUARD AS MUCH
UHH NO I DIDNT PUT ENOUGH INCRIMINATING STUFF OUT THERE THAT SOMEONE WOULD WANNA CATFISH ME UMM BUT I CAN SEE HOW OTHER PEOPLE THAT I KNOW PERSONALLY WOULD UHH FALL VICTIM TO THAT”
WITH ALL THAT IS OUT THERE NOW WITH PEOPLE PRETENDING TO BE OTHER PEOPLE ONE MUST ALWAYS BE CAREFUL ABOUT KNOWING WHO THEY ARE TALKING TO ONLINE! HOWEVER BESIDES THAT ALEX FELT LIKE THIS WOULD BE THE RIGHT OUTLET FOR HIS NEWLY SINGLE LIFE
CUT 3: “IT DEFINITELY MAKES YOU MORE NATURAL BECAUSE YOU HAVE MORE PRACTICE AT IT AND MORE EXPERIENCE LIKE MY FRIEND WHO WILL ALSO REMAIN NAMELESS WHO ALSO JUST CAME OUT OF A RELATIONSHIP TOLD ME AT A BAR THE OTHER NIGHT HE SAID “I NEED YOU TO HELP ME TALK TO WOMEN” AND I SAID “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE ON TINDER ALL THE TIME LIKE YOU HIT UP SO MANY GIRLS ” AN HE SAYS ‘I CAN ONLY TALK ONLINE I CANT TALK TO PEOPLE IN PERSON’ AND I WAS LIKE THATS JUST LIKE FINDING OUT LANCE ARMSTRONG CHEATED YOU KNOW I WAS VERY SHOCKED AT WHAT HAPPENED”
THERE ARE SOME CONCERNS TO THESE DATING APPS OF COURSE
CUT 4: “ITS DIFFERENT THAN TALKING IN PERSON AND FOR SOME PEOPLE THEY CAN ONLY DO ONE OR THE OTHER SO FOR THOSE PEOPLE MAYBE YOU SHOULD WATCH OUT A LITTLE BIT AND WORK ON YOUR ONE ON ONE INTERACTIONS BUT PRIOR TO ME BEING ON THERE I COULD TALK TO ANY PERSON JUST FINE BUT I WOULD COME OFF AS INCREDIBLY AWKWARD ONLINE LIKE SOMEONE YOU’D WANT TO CALL CHRIS HANSEN ON”
ALEX BEGAN HIS JOURNEY IN SEARCH FOR A NEW COMPANION THIS TIME DOING IT DIFFERENTLY… MORE MODERNLY.. BUT WAS HE HESITANT TO DIP HIS TOES IN THE WATER?
CUT 5:” I WASN’T HESITANT AT ALL I WAS WORRIED THAT BECAUSE I HAD BEEN IN A RELATIONSHIP FOR 3 AND A HALF YEARS WHEN ALL THIS STUFF HAPPENED THAT I WAS BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL AND WOULDN’T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING AND THAT MADE ME NOT HESITANT BUT A LITTLE BIT CONCERNED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CATCH UP”
HE SPOKE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW HIS SUCCESS STORY WASN'T SUCH A SUCCESS AT FIRST
CUT 6: “SO THE FIRST WEEKEND THAT I BECAME SINGLE OUT OF MY OLD RELATIONSHIP I WENT UP TO COLGATE UNIVERSITY UM TO GO TO WHAT WAS THERE SPRING PARTY WEEKEND WHERE THEY HAVE ALL THE FESTIVALS AND STUFF AND I WAS  STAYING AT THE FOOTBALL FRAT WITH MY BEST FRIEND  AND OTHER THAN HIM AND A FEW OTHERS I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW ANYBODY UP THERE ESPECIALLY WOMEN  AND I DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THIS WEEKEND WITHOUT AT FEMALE COMPANION SO THAT REALLY ENCOURAGED ME TO SWIPE RIGHT ON PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING ALIVE… DIDN'T GET MUCH BACK… HOWEVER MY GAME IMPROVED OVER TIME AND I AM VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT.”
AND IMPROVE IT SURELY DID
CUT 7: “ONE DAY I SWIPED ON THIS GIRL AND I NOTICED THAT HER BIO SAID THAT SHE WAS A BIG NEW YORK RANGERS FAN AND BEING THE SASSY ISLANDERS FAN THAT I AM I DECIDED TO MESSAGE HER “I THINK THE SENATORS ARE GONNA BEAT THE RANGERS IN SIX GAMES” BECAUSE THEY WERE PLAYING IN THE PLAYOFFS AT THAT TIME AND SHES TOLD ME SINCE THAT SHE WAS CONSIDERING NOT ANSWERING ME BECAUSE WHAT I SAID WAS SO INCREDIBLY RUDE AND ANNOYING UHH NEVERTHELESS IT ENDED UP LEADING TO WHATS GONNA BE A SIX MONTH RELATIONSHIP ACTUALLY IN A FEW WEEKS”
MARK IS A 26 YEAR OLD MALE WHOS LUCK WASNT QUITE THE SAME AS ALEX
CUT 8: “UM WELL TINDER FOR ME HONESTLY ITS NOT MY BEST PREFERENCE I’VE USED IT FOR A COUPLE YEARS NOW AND YOU KNOW ITS I FEEL LIKE ITS MOSTLY CURIOSITY FACTOR OF WHO YOURE GONNA MATCH UP WITH. I DONT THINK ANYTHINGS REALLY GENUINE THAT COMES OUT OF IT YOU KNOW IVE MET UP WITH A COUPLE PEOPLE UMM OUT OF IT. ACTUALLY OUT OF A COUPLE HUNDRED… MAYBE TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY PEOPLE IVE PROBABLY ONLY MET UP WITH ONLY MAYBE ABOUT 5 PEOPLE WHICH IS PRETTY SAD AND EVEN OUT OF THAT I WOULD SAY MAYBE ABOUT 5% OF THAT I EVEN MESSAGE. LIKE I SAID ITS MOSTLY LIKE A CURIOSITY FACTOR UMM DATING SITES FOR OTHER PEOPLE LIKE FOR EXAMPLE MY PARENTS MET ON A DATING SITE AND THEYRE HAPPILY MARRIED AND I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS I HAVE A GREAT STEPDAD NOW. SO I MEAN CLEARLY IT WORKS OUT FOR SOME PEOPLE. I HAVE ALSO SOME FRIENDS WHERE THEY YOU KNOW GOT SOME SUCCESS BUT ITS UH I FEEL LIKE ITS ITS WEIRD ITS VERY IMPERSONAL AT FIRST UM MESSAGING EVEN BECAUSE THE GIRL NEVER IS GOING TO MESSAGE YOU FIRST, IT’S A VERY RARE OCCURRENCE SO FOR A GUY YOU EITHER HAVE TO COME WITH SOME VERY YOU KNOW IMPRESSIVE FIRST PICK UP LINE YOU GOTTA MAKE THEM LAUGH OR EVEN JOKE ABOUT THEM OR ONE OF THEIR PICTURES LIKE YOU HAVE TO SEPARATE YOURSELF FROM OTHER PEOPLE AND YOU KNOW PICK UP LINES DONT WORK ANYMORE ESPECIALLY CORNY ONES.
BESIDES CORNY PICK UP LINES AND PRIMPED OUT PICTURES AND BIOS I WANTED TO KNOW OF SOME NOT SO GREAT EXPERIENCES HE HAD ENTAILED MEETING UP WITH WOMEN FROM TINDER
CUT 9: “UMM I MEAN MAJORITY OF THE CASES WH- ARE THAT WHEN I MEET I WOULD SAY ABOUT 80% OF THE TIME I MEET UP WITH THE GIRL SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE PICTURES SHE YOU KNOW SHE POSTED. THEY MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK WAY BETTER THAN THEY ACTUALLY SEEM UNFORTUNATELY BUT I FEEL LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE DO THAT SO THATS KINDA WHY YOU KNOW I KINDA TOOK A PAUSE ON AND HAVEN'T REALLY USED IT IN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS UMM I THINK ME PERSONALLY I LIKE GOING OUT UMM I FEEL LIKE MY PERSONALITY OUTWEIGHS MY LOOKS SO YOU KNOW THAT HELPS ME, MEETING PEOPLE IN PERSON UMM BUT ALSO ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH TINDER I FEEL LIKE PEOPLE DON’T SETTLE DOWN ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY HAVE INFINITE AMOUNT OF OPTIONS SO THATS THE ONE DOWNFALL BUT YOU KNOW IT IS COOL HAVING YOU KNOW YOU COULD LITERALLY MEET WHOEVER AROUND THE WORLD. BACK IN THE DAY PEOPLE WOULD JUST YOU KNOW WOULD ONLY MEET PEOPLE IN THEIR TOWN AND YOU KNOW THEY WOULD HAVE TO SETTLE BUT NOW WITH ALL THESE DATING SITES IT GIVES YOU INFINITE AMOUNT OF OPTIONS WHICH IS COOL”
JAYSON IS ANOTHER USER OF TINDER AND DATING APPS AND FEELS THAT THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO THIS NEW ERA IN THE MODERN DATING AGE
CUT 10: “IF YOU WERE TO PUT IN INTO A PROS AND CONS LIST OBVIOUSLY PRO WOULD BE LIKE ACTUALLY MEETING SOMEONE THAT YOU KNOW YOU COULD SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH JUST BY CLICKING A BUTTON AND JUST SEEING IF YOUR’E JUST YOU KNOW YOUR’E COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER I GUESS THAT REALLY COOL AND ALL BUT UM WHAT I BELIEVE IS WHAT REALLY THAT MATTERS MOST ABOUT THIS WHOLE CONNECTING THING IS IF YOU YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT LITERALLY GIVES YOU REASON TO MAKE IT SOMETHING”
HE MENTIONS HOW USING THESE APPLICATIONS ARE A WAY FOR PEOPLE TO FIND THEIR STATISTIC AND WHERE THEY FIT IN ON THE DATING SPECTRUM
CUT 11: “UH I HAVE AND I MATCHED WITH A GOOD AMOUNT UMM I NEVER REALLY USED IT AS SOMETHING TO MEET UP WITH PEOPLE WITH I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS JUST FUN AND GAMES TO KNOW LIKE WHO YOU COULD BE MATCHED WITH AND YOU C- ALSO WHAT PEOPLE WOULD DO IS LIKE OH WELL I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT OTHER PEOPLE WOULD DO IS UM THEY WOULD USE IT AS LIKE A A COMPARISON CONTEST BETWEEN THEMSELVES AND THE PEOPLE THAT THEY MATH THEMSELVES WITH JUST TO SEE LIKE  WHO IS THE ATTRACTIVE LEVEL TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE KNOW FOR A FACT IF YOU WERE GONNA GO INTO A SOCIAL SETTING THAT YOU WOULD BE CONNECTED WITH THEM EASILY. THINK ABOUT IT WHEN YOUR’E USING THESE KIND OF SOCIAL MEDIA TYPE OF CONNECTION SITES ITS ITS JUST AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AROUND YOU I MEAN YOU MEET THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERY DAY WHEN YOUR’E WALKING AROUND AND LIKE OBVIOUSLY WE DON’T HAVE THAT KIND OF TIME OF DAY TO LIKE MEET EVERY SINGLE PERSON AND LIKE GET A WHOLE BACKGROUND HISTORY OF THEM BEFORE YOU LIKE YOU I MEAN OBVIOUSLY LIKE  ATTRACTIVENESS IS THE FIRST CONNECTION LIKE INSTANTLY WHEN YOU SEE A PICTURE OF SOMEONE THAT LIKE YOU KNOW IS SOMEONE THAT YOU WOULD BE LIKE OH OKAY I COULD PICTURE MYSELF BEING WITH THIS PERSON FOR A BIT LIKE THIS THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD UMM I WOULDNT MIND BUT THEN AGAIN LIKE WHATS BEHIND THAT PERSON LIKE WERE GOING AFTER AN AVATAR RATHER THAN LIKE A PERSON”
NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SAME OPINION AS ALEX FROM OUR SUCCESS STORY JAYSON FEELS AS THOUGH MOST DATING APPLICATIONS ARE MORE FOR SEXUALIZATION
CUT 12: “UM I MEAN THERE ARE A FEW SOCIAL MEDIA SITES THAT GIVE YOU A LITTLE MORE PREFERENCE AND LIKE THERES THERES ALSO UH CERTAIN BOUNDARIES THAT AND THEY ALSO HAVE LIKE AN ALGORITHMIC FORMULA THAT COULD UMM GIVE YOU A BETTER MATCH TYPE OF PERSON THROUGH YOUR FIRST SEARCH PREFERENCES LIKE AND WITH THIS TINDER THING ITS JUST UMM WOULD I MEET THEM RIGHT NOW OR WOULD I EVEN BOTHER TO GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY AND ITS JUST AN INSTANT SECOND IT TAKES ONE SWIPE TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE GONNA LIKE SOMEONE AND THATS KINDA LIKE THE MESSED UP PART OF THIS WHOLE THING”
THERE ARE SO MANY THOUGHTS OUT THERE ON WHAT DATING APPLICATIONS AND WEBSITES HAVE BEEN DOING TO THE DATING SCENE IN THE MODERN AGE. FOR SOME THEY HAVE FOUND LOVE AND LONGTERM RELATIONSHIPS ON TINDER AND OTHER APPS, HOWEVER, FOR OTHERS THEY USE IT AS A WAY TO PICK UP CHICKS OR GUYS FOR A ONE NIGHT FLING… HEY I EVEN OVERHEARD SOMEONE SAY THEY USE TINDER TO GET FREE DINNER!
