"Ten bucks says she wants to have breakfast to remind me that I need to provide an excellent example, and be perfectly perfect in every way. Like some kind of Mary Poppins." 

"Hey now, Miss. Poppins is one of the best witches in known history." Torren joked, earning himself an exaggerated sigh from the witchling beside her. "I know that your mother scares the hell out of you, baby. But you can't avoid her, she owns the place."

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD

First Draft on Major Magic Types and Magic Sub-classes

Within the world of Seasonal Decay there are five Major Magic Types, every character within the world has one or more type depending on race.

These classes and their sub-classifications are as follows:

Divine Magic with its sub-classes being in order Contract, Detection, Divination, Healing and Warding.

People who have Divine Magic can harness one of the sub-classes. Whether it is predicting and/or manipulating future outcomes, restoring vitality or guarding people and objects from corruption, Divine Magic is the most highly respected Magic type in the world of Seasonal Decay. However, it is in only 12% of bloodlines.

Elemental Magic with its sub-classes in order are Alchemy, Destruction, Elements, Luck and Survival.

Elemental Magic encompasses magic pertaining to the aspects of the natural world. Such as the basics like Fire, Earth, Water and Air, to far more complex aspects such as manipulation of chance, fortune and survivability. This magic type is the most common with a 54% chance.

Infernal Magic and its sub-classes in order are Banishment, Concealment, Curse and Necro.

This is the rarest Magic Type with only an 8% chance of showing up in a bloodline. That and its less then pleasant nature give users of Infernal Magic a bad reputation. Not much is known about all uses of this magic, or if they are well known they are not shared outside of those who hold this Magic Type.

Mental Magic and its sub-classes in order are Communication, Control, Dream, and Illusion.

People with Mental Magic range from being able to relay messages through vast distances, walk through the minds of others in sleep, create imagery that isn't there and control the thoughts of others. Though some have suggested that Control Magic could branch off into it's own sub-sections, but further research is needed. This type only has a 10% chance of appearing.

Lastly is Physical Magic and it's sub-classes which are Altercation, Defense, Enhancement, Sensory and Transformation.

The second most common magic type with 16%, Physical Magic pertains to the ability to create shields and barriers, temporarily disguises, permanent changes of the flesh and heightening senses and attributes.

soon i am getting a new laptop that i will have to use in public, and i am thinking of doing the most arcane, malevolently set up, Doug Rattmann crazy levels, most incomprehensible Linux setup on it, so that nobody who isn't me, or atleast is not familiar enough with the specific linux utilities, can use it.

so that in the event i happen to leave the laptop unattended in public, (which i do not plan on doing, as i innately keep my backpack on me 100% of the time, so much so that multiple people have found it offputting, but in the event it do) nobody knows how to work it, or how it even works.

currently i've only a few ideas, such as - using i3wm with a fully rewritten key configuration, including having some common windows shortcuts such as alt + F4, ctrl + shift + esc, ctrl + alt + del, et cetera pull up premade messages heckling you for trying them - using only command line tools like feh, mpv, nmtui, & others for basic tasks - possibly automatically lock the session while the machine is in use if you fail to enter a password into a window, probably one it doesn't open automatically so you also need to know what fucking program to start from a terminal to enter a password you also need to know. (and possibly not have the program in the $PATH for extra evil)

I’m studying international law in college and finished in the summer a class about genocide. My autism will NOT allow me to shut up about the horrors of mankind so I know if I were in Yuu’s place I would be constantly disturbing those around me.

Riddle and Azul would find the issues with the legal system fascinating though. Everybody would be confused on why I would want to go back.

I can't tell you how many times I think about the actual political/historical world of twisted wonderland. I want to understand everything about it. I would live in trein's classroom. bc if lilia's dream in book 7 is any indication, this world is just as fucked as ours, we/yuu just hasn't learned the full extent of that yet. I wanna knowww

Wind-Based Magic System

So, I want to share the magic system I've been working on for my story! I wanted to make something at least a little bit unique, and since the fight for freedom is my main theme, and I've always loved using the wind as a metaphor for freedom, I landed on a magic system that revolves around the concept of wind.

It's named Windcalling! Or just Calling, for short. It's users are, thus, Windcallers, or simply Callers.

Callers are divided into ten Kins, each of which has access to two Wings of Calling. Said Wings are as follows:

Manipulation: It grants the user precise control over the air/wind in a wide area around them, including manifested/solid wind (see Manifestation below). This allows them to create strong currents in whichever direction they please. Seen as the weakest power, but it has great synergy with all the other wings.

Manifestation: It grants the user the power to manifest wind, giving it a solid form, also called Wind Essence. It can have any shape. Essence is extremely hard and tough, but light.

Mutation: It grants the user the power to change the composition of the air in several ways. The most typical is accelerating/decelerating the particles that make it up, heating/cooling their surroundings.

Internalization: It grants the user the power to metabolize wind, obtaining enhanced strength and agility. Also has great synergy with the other wings.

Deception: It grants the user the power to create artificial sounds, sights and even smells.

Each Kin also has unique powers that are born out of the combination of their Wings. The ten Kins are as follows:

Stormbringers (Mutation/Manipulation): Can manipulate the weather.

Skywatchers (Manipulation/Internalization): Can change their weight.

Truthshapers (Deception/Manifestation): Can create solid illusions.

Windbreakers (Manipulation/Manifestation): Can Manipulate the objects they manifest.

Bladecasters (Mutation/Manifestation): Can heat up/freeze the objects they manifest.

Soothsayers (Mutation/Deception): Can cause hallucinations that only select people see.

Talebearers (Manipulation/Deception): Can communicate from far away by transmitting sound via the air.

Soulstealers (Deception/Internalization): Can change their own appearance.

Willkeepers (Manifestation/Internalization): Can create thin layers of Essence around their skin that act as armor.

Snowdrifters (Mutation/Internalization): Can regulate their body temperature and are immune to high heat/freezing cold.

If anyone is wondering; yes, it's possible that I was reading the Stormlight Archive when I came up with this system.

The main magic users in this setting are nobles from the highlands (for more info, see my post from a few days ago where I share a fragment of the novel this system is from and I explain a tiny bit of relevant worldbuilding). There are nine noble houses, known as the High Houses, that are the overlords of the continent. Each High House is related to one Kin of Windcalling. So, for example, the House of Calais is made up of Bladecasters, and so on.

As far as everyone knows, the power is genetic. The members of each High house have natural access to Calling. They're supposed to be descended from the ancient legendary figures known as the Guardians, who were the first to wield magic. You may notice, however, that the numbers don't match. Ten Kins. Nine Houses. There is a reason for that, and a reason why one Guardian was wiped from the legends. The truth is, there is more to this power than it seems. However... that is a story for another day.

...did I make you curious? Hahahaha, I hope so. In any case, I hope to keep sharing stuff about this story that's been living in my brain for the past, gosh, nearly three years now? I'm thinking of doing some character introductions next, concerning my dual protagonists, Saroth and Leiden. A lowlander and a highlander, both of whom have, as far as they're concerned, lost everything (you can read a few paragraphs from Leiden's POV in the post previously mentioned!). If you would be interested in that, it's coming soon, so keep an eye out! I love talking about my brainworms very much, and I enjoy it when others take joy out of listening to me do it :]

Lessons From the Grand Sage I: On Magic

Celdos reveal, your grace.

It has come to my attention that there have been… gaps in your study. As the Grand Sage, it is my duty to see these filled.

Today, we will start with the wheel which defines the world. The Cycle, through which all we know and are flows.

Shall we begin?

Study this diagram well – friends and foes before you already have. The arrows upon the outer wheel show the flow of energy as it courses through our reality. Energy changes states as it flows, with five elements recognized by the wise.

We start, as always, with the Green. Nebulous and living. The life force of storms and mountains and oceans. This coalesces to Body.

Body, steady and true. The life force of individuals, be they animal, plant, or person. From Body springs thought and, with it, Mind.

Mind is ephemeral and formless. It is the power behind truth, imagination, and deception. The emotions born of Mind take shape in the Grey.

The Grey is power in the truest sense. Energy shaped not by physical law but by ideals and deeds. When given direction and purpose, it sharpens to Spirit.

Spirit, the motive force. The drive behind mortality, and the unbreakable inner strength. When this strength is dispersed into the mortal realm, it is reshaped into the Green.

The Cycle flows, ever and always.

Each element has a positive and negative aspect. Body, for example is split between positive Body (Life) and negative Body (Death). Remember my lord; neither is evil, and both are necessary. Like one’s hands, a mage may have a preference for one or the other. But to ignore one entirely is to court disaster.

We shall discuss these elements in depth at a later date. For now, suffice that a mage will specialize in one, but all have their place.

Each element has a relationship with the other four. The first is a harmonious relationship – its adjacent elements. One feeds the element; the other is fed by it. Body is fed by the Green; Body, in turn, feeds Mind. A mage can brush into elements adjacent to their specialty, though less skillfully than their focus.

The second is a destructive relationship. These are the elements opposites. One is the element that it counters; the other counts it. Body neutralizes the Grey, yet Body is defeated by Spirit. In this way, no one element dominates over the others. A mage cannot evoke elements that oppose their specialty.

The day grows long and its light, short. We will continue these lessons at a later date.

Ever since changing my MC's magic type, it's been a challenge to create new lore and design.

All from fighting styles, visualization, lifestyle, script and creativity - that dances around the concept of a complex yet dangerous (ancient) rune-magic. Supposedly forbidden practice.

As much as I researched or got inspired by other people's works, it felt right to include symmetry into the role, next to runescribing:

And even though I tend to overcomplicate and perfect things - my research asks an important question:

Based on the Magic System (SD) what type of magic is Rune-Magic?

「Tales of Mushroom」

Some thoughts about mushrooms in my world-building. Fairy ring could be the portal to travel, glow mushroom is useful for lighting tools, and some spooky tales to horrify people not eat mushrooms. What do you think?

Juliana is an Elf like creature that uses Water magic and mainly serves as support and healing but she can hit really hard if needed Penny is a tinkerer Goblin who goes everywhere and fights with her Mecha that she lovingly calls Vivianne, she uses Energy magic to move it

Arven is a half werewolf (Sada is the werewolf obviously) That uses mainly Earth Magic, but also uses a little bit of Energy magic but it's just to cook lol Nemona is an Energy user and she uses her magic to power her mechanical arms
