May or may not have lain awake last night smirking over how awful it would have been if Beckett were canonically gay for Jack. Like, imagine if all that hate and ambition were fuelled because he couldn’t accept that he, a ‘respectable’, law-abiding businessman, had impure thoughts about someone who embodied everything he was against. If it tormented him day and night that he could never have him because it was against God and the laws of men so all he could do was hate him and hate him and grow desperate to destroy him in the hope his lusts would abate.

Jack knew the compass would point to him. But ohhh, how much more tragic that might have been.

I've been accepted to a writing postgraduate program so that's neat.

Our sketch comedy show was this past weekend, so now I have some free time.

That free time may be taken up a little by replaying Skyrim.

I've got some replies I've written and queued but I'll try to pad some more before I let them rip.

Something important for me is the crucial argument for Jack’s case on why he wants Jones to be lenient. Life’s not fair and it’s cruel, as canon Jones insists, but he’d hope he could explain to a sympathetic ear.

Just gonna paste in some SUPER SPOILERY (and tag this post) caps from TPOF.

Yes, it’s incredibly dumb that Jack climbed onto a burning ship and then proceeded to get himself trapped, filled with smoke, caught between fire and water and then knocked out 😬 but his options were terrible. His life had been summarily ruined by a combination of Christophe and then Beckett who had stripped him of everything he’d built for refusing to do an immoral act and then branded him for it. Having just fled Beckett, he hoped to regain, if not his ship, but the gold that would give him a chance to make it elsewhere.

Jack owes Jones not only for a fancy ship but pretty much his life, which is why Davy’s so pissed at being welched on. I think Jack would be all for paying a debt of some sort in exchange but a hundred years of enslavement on an awful, monstrous ship to him seemed like a terribly unfair price considering what he was escaping. And if he hadn’t taken this trickstery way out, we’d have our beloved idiot dead at twenty-five and unable to be involved in all the events that follow 😭

I'm really curious what would happen with Jack's debt if Margaret were to influence Davy. Maybe Jack should have a chat with her to explain what happened back then :U

and I am honestly SO curious myself. This is a great potential opportunity for Davy Jones' redemption arc progress goodies too!

tldr; Margaret likely would influence Davy... at least partially since this makes her a sort of neutral third party mediator? But probably in a way where Jack still has to pay up in some way, because Jones held up his end. Bargains with Jones aren’t exactly escapable, which she surprisingly actually has some experience with this (see towards the end of the post). Plus Jack is a wiley one and has (extensive?) history with Jones so that makes things more interesting XD So I’d love to hear your thoughts too!

[we interrupt this message for a brief moment where I fell down a rabbit hole of reading/analyzing The Price of Freedom’s ending with Jones & Jack and the Epilogue while I'm still in the middle of typing this ask (not mind you I haven’t read much else of TPOF yet, but I digress) and I JUST -- OH GOSH I have so many questions now!! ABOUT JACK. ABOUT JONES. ABOUT THE BLACK PEARL.

WAIT. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT DAVY FREAKING JONES NOT ONLY RE-FLOATS THE WICKED WENCH/BLACK PEARL, HE FREAKING UPGRADES IT!? 

HOW DID DAVY DO THIS?! DOES HE KNOW ALL ABOUT SHIPBUILDING HIMSELF?! SUMMON A CREW OF GHOST SHIP BUILDERS TO DO THEIR WORK OUT OF EXISTING SHIPWRECKS ON THE OCEAN FLOOR?!

Okay so back to the plot!

Jones held up his end of the bargain (& quite impressively might I add), so... Jack can’t exactly go off scott-free XD But Margaret would also be strongly against Jack being sent to the Locker or devoured by the Kraken.

Idk what exactly that results in... Jack still serving some time (perhaps crewing aboard the Dutchman now won't be so bad with Margaret in the picture haha XD)?

Or mayhaps the Black Pearl (captained by Jack) joins Davy Jones’ fleet?

Ultimately theoretically only that the oceanic judge can settle the penalty/different terms from the original bargain?

But yeah, like I mentioned earlier... Margaret shockingly knows personally what it means to hold a debt to Davy Jones. Worse, she knows said an unsettled debt to Jones can turn hereditar even after the debtor’s died.

Also, yes. This is how Margaret finally meets squid-faced Davy with his whole cursed appearance and infamous reputation. And Davy’s redemption arc first begins. :D

WHAT’S YOUR HONEST OPINION ABOUT YOUR MUSE?: I really love him. While Killian is not my most headcanon developed muse, I feel like I can always get into his headspace without much trouble. He’s endearing and complicated and deserved far better writing than what the show made him out to be by the time season 6 ended. Which is why I play him so that he can finally get some justice.

WOULD YOU DATE YOUR MUSE?: ... Yeah, I would. Not sure if my family would approve of the type of man he is, but since he can be a very loving and dedicated person, most definitely.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE KINDS OF THREADS?: I’m open to most things, but I enjoy things that can really show off banter and relationships between characters through banter. But of course, I love fluff and smut, some angst sprinkled in there to spice things up.

ARE YOU A SELECTIVE ROLEPLAYER?: Yyyyyyeaaahh a little bit. It kinda varies on fandom. 

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSE (IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE)?: This is a hard one... I love so many of my muses that it’s hard to just say “YOU”. But I’d say that Sakamaki Laito, Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko, Killian Jones and Zevran Arainai are in my top. (Crow Armbrust is quickly, VERY QUICKLY rising to join this crew, too.)

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE FANDOM?: Because I played the first two Dragon Age games and I fell in love with the setting and lore, as well as the different array of characters that were all individually so well thought out and developed through the games. There’s so many possibilities and AUs that we can explore with the setting and characters and with a new game (eventually) coming out, it’s just all the more reason to see what’s in store for our favorites.

DO YOU SEE YOURSELF STAYING WITH THE FANDOM FOR A LONG TIME?: It depends. I sometimes fandom hop a bit, but I will say that Dragon Age fandom has been one of the most welcoming fandoms I’ve ever been in which really helps for longevity.
