Can we get more info on Ozus Y?

ABSOLUTELY I love talking about my OCS!! Ozus Y (name is a joke for "Ozus WHY" because he messes up a lot) goes by he/him pronouns and is around his early thirties. He's also 213cm / 7 feet tall and although he has kind of a dad bod, he can also lift heavy objects or people rather easily (corpus' gear is HEAVY) because of his muscle base.

He served under Nef and Parvos (not directly of course, big important men) regimes, so he has a lot of issues stocked on top of each other. Like any other corpus crewmate, he has done very unethical stuff in the name of surviving capitalism and trying to fit in/be successful, so he's very obedient but also a coward (picture Veso, but he'd have a hero moment to feel a bit good about himself instead of because it's the right thing since his self steem is also on the negative. He has to unlearn corpus culture). Without going too much into spoilers (since I'd like to work more on my comic and get to introduce him properly), he ends up working for my Drifter Cygnus in their camp by helping with finances and trading supplies for Kahl's brothers. He learns about being allowed to have free will and emotions there so going through all his life without being allowed to think about human conections hyper compensates with now being constantly having crushes left and right (he's pansexual). He flirts a lot (very poorly) even if it's extremely scary for him, but he also respects how to take a hint or what a "no" means. I describe his flirting experiences as "he's just so pathetic (endearing) he does even land it sometimes because some people give him an opportunity because he looks amusing and harmless". He develops big feels for Cygnus. Firstly because of the constant scaroused panic he's going through at all times, but later because they grow on him as an actual figure to follow, so despite being "this void affected legendary ghostly warrior", he finds them actually human and reachable. They're not in a monogame relationship though (they're both poly).

I just saw a question in an ask game and thought of you, so may I ask, do you have any headcanons for movies certain characters would like or love? Like, your book's OCs or characters you're a fan of?

i’m honored to be thought of! hijacking this to talk about my book’s characters, i think wu shi’s film taste would run to older movies (since he’s an old lady with the face of a young androgynous goth), and a touch of zen (1971) in particular would really resonate with them. sun feng would only watch movies that promise a good ratio of explosions to not having to think, which, combined with his father and abandonment issues, would set him up to be absolutely wrecked by shang-chi and the legend of the ten rings (2021) of all things. and han yiming i’m sorry to say would be really into the confusing pretentious stuff. ozu and kurosawa and tarkovsky etc. he would understand what’s happening in andrei rublev (1966) on the level other people can only imagine. and all three of them would have a great movie night watching a better tomorrow (1986)

If you had to assign a theme song to each of your characters, what songs would they be and why? We think about this a lot with our OCs, and we believe personally that Ace's theme might be Crazy = Genius by P!ATD. But that might just be bcuz we fangoy over that band!

On a side note, we'd like to know what bands you enjoy listening to? And which genres?

hihi! oc questions make me very happy and are always welcome <3 just for fair warning, I’m a little bad at assigning songs to characters but. I’ll try! I don’t really have a definitive single theme song(tm) for some characters so these are tentatively unofficial haha, but just for fun!

sol- mulled over different ones but the one that kept sticking out is ‘Hope for the Future’ by Bastille. very in line with their character themes and the kind of person they are.

lyra- this one was the hardest surprisingly. but ‘Passing Through’ by Kaden MacKay feels right. both the calm vibe of the song feels fitting as well as themes of making the most of their time and being with the people they love. kinda taking time to slow down in the moment of life being fast.

niko- think I’ve mentioned this one before, but I like ‘Get Used To It’ by Ricky Montgomery a lot for him. a lot of her backstory’s about trying to make things better than they were, both for themself and for others. so this one feels right.

june- the only one that wasn’t hard at all. ‘The Villain I Appear To Be’ by Connor Spiotto/Molly Pease. the most junecore song to ever song

hazel- ‘Synesthesia’ by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness for them. song gives me autumnal vibes for a reason I can’t describe, and the calm feel and the lyrics fit them and how much they love their partner Robyn and would do anything for them. <3

regan- haven’t shown them off here yet (soon), but to those who do know them :> ‘The Ruse & The Caper’ by Coyote Theory. they’re very close with their partner Ozu- they have a really strong connection with each other, and love each other for who they are. this song is very rezu to me

as for ace- it is hard for me to assign One song to them bc they are such a complex chara along with the fact that I struggle at assigning songs anyways so I’ll try for a few (mostly based on lyrics). I would do multiple for all my charas if it didn’t mean that this post would be years long, so if you want more than one for my other charas feel free to msg me or ask :>

- ‘Kaibutsu’ (eng version) from Beastars! (linking this one bc there’s a few diff versions! I did a redraw of this album art with them actually :>)

- ‘Warmth’ by Bastille. this song is very ‘finding comfort in the people you love when the world around you is so overwhelming’ and that strikes me as the kind of person that ace would want to be for others.

- ‘Humpty Dumpty’ by AJR. fits with their struggling with hiding their problems from others because they don’t really have a good support system, and don’t want to burden or worry that others already have enough going on. they do end up confiding in the player- I think the player’s one of the people who they trust and care about the most.

- if I had to pick a P!ATD song for ace, I’d probably pick ‘Dying in LA’ myself. it feels very ‘ace while they’re in team meteor’ to me, where their desperation and loneliness gets taken advantage of and they’re recruited into this Unhealthy Bad situation that they clearly don’t agree with- but hey, it’s better than being alone like they were before, right?

as for me, my favorite band is bastille! as you might’ve been able to tell already, haha. although I’m also fond of AJR, fitz & the tantrums, coyote theory, ricky montgomery, imagine dragons, and p!atd :> in no order! as for genre, it’s hard to describe what single genre(s) I love since it tends to depend but I like stuff that Feels right to me. a lot of once off songs from someone I’ve never heard of just catch my attention immediately- sometimes that’s something meaningful and chill, other times higher energy, fun to sing along to. that kinda stuff!

Twinkle Quill (トゥインクル・クイル) appears to be a typical fangirl. Being an optimist most of the time and really into the things she loves, as well as being helpful and wanting to make people smile. She is a creative geeky goofball. However, when it comes to creative projects, Twinkle can be quite strict, especially with OCs and fanfiction, as she tries to make sure that they stay as accurate as possible to canon. When upset, Twinkle becomes very argumentative. If she does not win, she will ignore the person for a few days before speaking to them again in order to calm down. She also gets anxiety when continuously pressured and will feel incredibly trapped. Twinkle speaks really fast, often stumbling over her words because she has a lot to say and knows she won't have a lot of time to say it, especially in a group conversation. Despite her flaws, all Twinkle wants to do is make people happy.

Nara | Lupinranger | She/Her 🍋ೃ

Nara Ozu (ナラ・オヅ) appears to be a typical sentai purist. Being an empath and optimistic, as well as being helpful and loveable. She is sweet and caring. When upset, Nara is very aggressive and tends to push others away in need of space. When nervous, she talks quickly and stumbles over her words and can't seem to quite calm down until someone helps her to get more calmer and get more confidence back to finish what she was doing before she was interrupted by her nervousness. Nara often dreams about her crushes and dreams some sort of scene with her and her Sentai or Kdrama crush. She loves to sing and dance. When nervous, she tends to try and avoid the situation. Nara loves being alone because she can do whatever she wants. She is a klutz when it comes to everyday lives, she bumps into objects and knocks over stuff without realizing she's moving too fast.

Oooh, that’s cool! I like to imagine she has a whole scrapbook full of drawings, all labeled by year and location and whatever :D

Of my OCs, Ozubri and Odassa are the only artists—both grew up on Kiros, where art is sort of a way of life, so they learned to draw and paint and whatever even before they could walk and talk. Their personalities and lives yielded very different styles and preferences, though. Oda prefers more realistic and, occasionally, impressionistic art, sorta like Monet or Van Gogh. Ozu, on the other hand, prefers really wild, crazy, non-objective art, making stuff that’s like Picasso (at his most objective) or Jackson Pollock (at his least objective).

1. Which should be saved – a bus full of innocent lives or a loved one?

Odassa: “Definitely the innocents: it should be everyone’s goal to save and protect as many lives as possib—”

Ozubri: “UMM, yeah, no, it should definitely be the one you love; No matter how ‘innocent’ they all are, why should I care if I don’t know ‘em?”

Odassa: “Ozu! How could you be so heartless? They’re innocent people!”

Ozubri: “Oh, I’m the heartless one? Glad to hear you’d let someone like me go to save just any ol’ bus fulla’ people—really great to know you care, sis!”

Odassa: “That’s just—that’s not what I—GAH, you’re impossible!”

3. If you could jump back through time to save a loved one’s life, would you? Despite what it might to do the timeline? To everyone else? Do you believe it is their fate to die regardless?

Cerate: “Well gosh, I don’t know—I’d really love to back and meet my Mom and Dad, and to have them here with me would be beyond amazing, but I guess it would be kinda selfish to do that. Like, what would happen to Hes, then? Or all my other friends? What if I saved Mom and Dad too early, before I was born? I guess I would never be born, then—but then I couldn’t go back and save them, but then I would be born, but—Oh, gosh, my head hurts…”

9. Can people be held accountable for things people close or related to them did or are they innocent?

Hes: “Absolutely not—what someone does is their deal and their deal alone, and their friends and family shouldn’t have to suffer for their misdeeds. That’s why I’d bust a stormtrooper’s skull in, but I’d never go after his spouse and kid; they didn’t do anything, after all. Sure wish everyone felt the same, though—otherwise maybe the Empire wouldn’t be so on my ass about being a Jedi (assuming I came out about that, anyways).”

17. Have you ever gotten sheer joy out of hurting someone else, either physically or mentally? To whom and why? Did it scare you?

Ozubri: “Yeah, I’ve enjoyed kills once or twice, especially when it was someone who really gave me a lotta trouble—though mostly I like to keep it ‘just business’. Hurting someone’s feelings, though, that’s just hor—”

Odassa: “Absolutely necessary at some points; sometimes you need to hurt someone’s ego in order to get an idea through their thick montrals, don’t you agree, Ozu?”

Ozubri: “No, I don’t. Mental scars don’t heal so easily, Oda—and it’s the mark of a good person to not inflict them,”

Odassa: “But murder is justifiable, is that right?”

Ozubri: “YES! When it’s for the greater good (or money)!”

11. What do they feel most insecure about?

Ozu’s a pretty confident and happy-go-lucky guy most of the time, so there’s really not much for him to be insecure about. The only insecure thing in his life is his living situation—bounty hunting and painting aren’t the most stable sources of income for a person to have, and sometimes the stress of finding a way to feed himself and fuel his ship for a few more days can leave Ozu a little worried. Most of the time, though, he just takes his situation in stride and tries not to worry too much.

21. Favorite kind of weather?

Despite being a practitioner of the Dark side (a typically very gloomy bunch), Ozu actually loves being out in the sun—especially when it’s only just starting to get warm, like in the spring and early summer. It reminds him a lot of his time on Kiros—a time he’d love to go back to, if he could.

40. Do they have any scars?

Ozu has a few tiny scars here and there from past fights and saber-duels, mostly due to his strategy of “the best defense is a strong offense”. He does, however, have a huge scar across his back, going from his left shoulder down to his right thigh. He got when he was training with Darth Tyranus—when the Sith Lord threatened to kill Odassa for not keeping up in a training exercise, Ozu tried to stand up to him, only to be quickly disarmed and defeated. It’s healed to the point of near-invisibility by now, yet it served to teach Ozu that, though standing up for what’s right may hurt in the moment, the scars from it will heal, and you’ll only get stronger from the pain you endure.

46. Is there anyone they would trust with their lives?

Besides himself, not really—Ozu lives a pretty lonesome lifestyle, so he doesn’t know many others well enough to trust them that much. There’s his sister, but—no, not after what she said. Really, Ozu’s strategy is usually to just not put his life in peril so much, so he doesn’t have to worry about stuff like that.
