—Digimon Fields—

Digimon are sorted into "Fields" based on their physiology, habitat or powers. Many Digimon have been associated with more than one Field accross time and different media.

Fields were first introduced to the franchise through the orignal Pendulum v-pet series starting 1998 and the original Card Game (AKA Hyper Colosseum) in starting 1999. The Pendulums versions 1-5 were Nature Spirits, Deep Savers, Nightmare Soldiers, and Metal Empire, with the addition of Pendulum ZERO, Virus Busters. In Hyper Colosseum, up to Booster 6, the field was initially only indicated by the background, but starting Booster 7 a symbol was added. Later releases eventually opted to use plain text.

This line of Fields are Nature Spirits [NSp], Deep Savers [DS], Nightmare Soldiers [NSo], Wind Guardians [WG], Metal Empire [ME], Virus Busters [VB], Unknown [UK] and Dark Area [DA]. In 2006, the new Digimon Card Game alpha released, and dropped the Unknown and Dark Area Fields, and added Dragon's Roar [DR] and Jungle Troopers [JT].

—Nature Spirits [NSp] This field covers many Digimon living in greenery, around lakes or desert areas. They're often considered simple and gentle. Starting the 2006-Savers-era this mostly only contains beast-like Digimon. —Deep Savers [DS] These Digimon live in the Net Ocean of the World. With the 06-era all water based Digimon started being included in this. —Nightmare Soldiers [NSo] Ghost and Demon type Digimon are in this field, as well as Digimon releated to Halloween. Many of them have a relation to darkness, but some are related to super natural themes. —Wind Guardians [WG] This field contains Bird Digimon, and generally Digimon associated with air or sky. Sometimes Vegetation-type Digimon are also included. —Metal Empire [ME] Machine, Cyborg, or Mutant type Digimon belong to this field. Later many "material" based Digimon or Filth Digimon get sorted into this field too. —Virus Busters [VB] Angelic and Holy Beast Digimon are in this Field. —Unknown [UK] This Field would include Mutants or Filth type Digimon. While a lot of modern media spreads these across other Fields, the Digimon Web still acknowledges it. —Dark Area [DA] Evil Digimon, namely Villains from the series, are in this field. —Dragon's Roar [DR] As mentioned above, this Field got introduced in 2006 and includes Dragon and Dinosaur type Digimon previously included in various other Fields. —Jungle Troopers [JT] Just like Dragon's Roar, Jungle Troopers had several Digimon from Nature Spirits and Wind Guardians added to it. It covers Insectoid and Vegetation Digimon.

While most Games don't include Fields, but rather some form of elemental classes based on primary attacks, Digimon World Data Squad does include the Fields as such, and the the DS games have "Species" categories that line up with the Fields: NSp > Beast, DS > Aquan, NSo > Dark, WG > Bird, ME > Machine, VB > Holy, DR > Dragon, JT > Plant/Insect. While the early DS games had one catergory for Insects and Plants, starting with Lost Evolution a Plant species was added.

What kind of elemental types are included and how they relate to each other varies strongly from game to game, the only constant being Fire. There's also multiple ones that overlap. Water and Ice are often grouped up, Electricity often includes Wind or vice versa. Nature, Earth and Combat often cover the same or similar ground too.

These elements also don't always refer to the Digimon themselves, but often only attack moves. And in Digimon World 3 and 4, and Survive, the Digimon don't have elemental types associated with them, but instead their resistance to each one.

hey gang sorry these have been sitting in my inbox for WAY too long, i've been doing a new mental health treatment (TMS, it's a little like electro shock but with magnets) and it's been really intense. i'm doing fine and my depression is having a noticeable improvement already, but i can literally feel my brain chemistry changing and the side effects are a little annoying

❤️ - What's one memory of your practice that you reflect the most fondly on?

The only thing that I can really think of for this is the very beginning of my relationship with the divine.

My "inciting incident," so to speak, was a trip where I visited my long distance best friend, who was raised as an American folk witch. During that trip, he introduced me to pendulums (for divination), tarot, and deity worship.

Keep in mind, we're both like 13 at the time, and he manages to teach me about the worship of multiple deities across different pantheons, And witchcraft, And hellenic polytheism in the span of like seven days. I have always been deeply interested in greek mythology (shoutout Percy Jackson series), so I was super excited to realize that people actually worshipped those deities, which meant that I could too.

It was not only such a healing experience within our friendship, but is something I look back on really fondly as part of the beginning of my practice.

🎭 - What is an emotionally impactful or a silly worship-related experience you've had?

Other than the previous story, I think one part of my practice that still stands out is teaching my younger brother about witchcraft and hellenic polytheism. I didn't exactly convert him per se, but I basically just said "hey if you are ever interested in that stuff (he was on tiktok at the time and witchtok was starting to get popular), I'm really into it so I could teach you about it." And now lil bro is like a devoted artemis worshipper!!! it's so cool to see his evolution over time

Seeing someone you introduced to the pagan/witchy space carve out their own space and have their own thoughts and beliefs independent from your own just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling idk

In Digimon Adventure 02, Cody Haida & T.K. Takaishi are partnered with Armadillomon and Patamon respectively. Because both Digidestined are lacking crests, when Armadillomon Digivolves into Ankylomon and Patamon into Angemon, they must DNA Digivolve together to reach the Ultimate level, forming Shakkoumon.

Digimon Pendulum Z and Digimon Brave Tamer give us some extended evolutions of Shakkoumon in SlashAngemon or Vikemon. Unfortunately, only Paildramon obtained the power to Digivolve further over the course of Digimon Adventure 02 so we never got to see this happen on-screen. Personally, I was hoping it would happen in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning but instead they just told us all to throw away our Digivices and buy the new iPhone cases instead.

In the Digimon Adventure 2020 reboot, Patamon gained the ability to Digivolve into Goldramon. I like to think that, given the first Adventure 02 movie showed Patamon's Mega level form as Seraphimon and Gatomon's as Magnadramon, while Tri showed Gatomon's to be Ophanimon, Patamon would have access to Goldramon too under similar circumstances.

The Digieggs of Knowledge and Reliability enabled Armadillomon to Armor Digivolve into Digmon and Submarimon. If Cody had used TK's Digiegg of Hope, Armadillomon could have Digivolved into Sheepmon.

Without access to the Crest of Hope, TK had to use the Digiegg of Hope to Armor Evolve Patamon to Pegasusmon. Borrowing Cody's Digiegg of Reliability might have enabled Patamon to become Mantaraymon.

Fear-Mongering in Witchcraft I Don’t Fall For:

“Don’t work with demons, they’ll ruin your life.” Ah yes, the old 'boogeyman' tactic. Many forget that respectful, educated interactions with entities—demonic or otherwise—don't equate to chaos. It’s not about blind summoning, it’s about relationship-building, discipline, and intention. Not everything dark is destructive.

“If you don’t close every ritual exactly right, you’ll be haunted forever.” Let’s not act like magic is a game of Operation. Precision is important, yes—but genuine intent and spiritual hygiene matter more than textbook recitations. Spirits aren't lurking in the corner, waiting for a missed word to unleash torment.

“Using death-related symbols (skulls, bones, graveyard dirt) attracts curses or malevolent spirits.” These items are sacred, historical, and often protective. Death is a part of the cycle, not an automatic threat. There’s wisdom and grounding in it—not something to fear or shun.

“Only light magic is safe. Dark magic always corrupts.” Black-and-white morality doesn’t fit into the spiritual world. Shadow work, hexes, and baneful magic have always had a place. It’s how and why you use them that defines ethical lines—not the spell color.

“If you’re not initiated, you have no right to practice.” Gatekeeping ignores the roots of folk magic and personal spirituality. If the spirits you honor walk with you, and you do your due diligence, no one's permission is needed to claim your path.

“Luciferianism or Left-Hand Path = Satanic evil = doomed soul.” A stale Christian projection. Luciferian paths can be full of self-respect, discipline, illumination, and personal freedom. It’s not about evil—it’s about evolution and the will to be accountable.

“Pendulums or Ouija boards will always open doors you can’t close.” They are tools. Like knives, they can cut bread or hurt—depending on who's wielding them. Education, grounding, and protection practices make all the difference.

“Spirit contact always invites parasitic attachments.” That’s like saying every friendship leads to betrayal. Discernment, boundaries, and self-awareness are your allies—not fear.

Female hypno head canons, SFW and NSFW 🤔?

Ah Hypno, one of the most misunderstood pokemon partners. Tied with the Grimer line, Koffing line, and Trubbish line. I have met many Hypno that are absolutely lovely and kind to be around. With some good at their hypnosis powers, some not, and some not even able to use them in the first place! It's a shame these pokemon have a bad stereotype because of a few bad actors and especially that horrid pokedex… Hopefully I can help change your mind on these loveable goofballs.

(Out of character for this now, ngl this one might be one of my favorite headcanon posts I've worked on.)

Well to start off having a Hypno partner, like any psychic partner, can make help around the home much much easier. Like say you're ill/bedridden or have a disability, your partner can help you reach or do the tasks or jobs you need to do but can't. It's reasons like this that I recommend psychic type partners the most, they are usually the most helpful and compassionate or understanding.

If your worried about accidentally being hypnotized by your Hypno, whether that be them being someone who falls into the stereotype or just by accident you can add a bell or loud object to their pendulum so if you end up being hypnotized the noise of it will snap you out of it instantly. Just make sure to reassure your Hypno if they are inexperienced with their powers and didn't mean to put you under.

An upside specific to Hypno and its pre evolution is its ability to help you sleep more easily. Whether that be making you fall asleep or making you sleep more peacefully by consuming your dreams or nightmares. I've had moments of restlessness that I would've struggled with dealing with if it wasn't for the Hypno that I had living in the lab, so for those with insomnia or paranoia I'd highly recommend going and getting a Hypno partner to assist you, you should be able to contact your nearby Daycare, pokecenter, or pokelab and adopt one.

A cute thing I've noticed with Hypnos is that if a group of them is sleeping together or they are sleeping next to someone with a good dream their snores will have small honks. It's not loud enough to wake anyone up but it's very cute to listen to.

Your Hypno partner is also good at defending your home or items as if someone does try to burglarize your home or steal something from you they could just use psychic on them or use their hypnosis powers to stop them or correct them. So rating Hypno on a scale of good guards they rank up high.

Now onto the specifics of female Hypno, I've noticed that female Hypnos are much heavier cuddlers in comparison to the males. With them being very clingy and hard to pull off from, and if you do you'll probably be dragged back in with either psychic or hypnotized to cuddle up back with her. And if you're especially sick or weakened after recovering from something you can expect her to be even more clingy than usual, with you practically being held close to her anywhere you both go. But it's not all bad, they are nice and soft, especially with their neck fluff, it's comparable to that of well loved Mareep wool so to those smaller than their hypnos your very lucky.

Your female hypno partner will also be more happy or excited when you congratulate them on a job or battle done well, with their noises and honks being much louder and excited. Depending on the age and energy of your Hypno you may find them a bit too excitable and need to help them burn off some of their energy as otherwise they may cause a bit of trouble with their psychic energy.

She may also try to do all the jobs you gave her at once, or try to do some of your jobs even if you're in a good enough state to do them yourself. I'd recommend calming her or stopping her otherwise she may end up with a headache or migraine later from all the psychic energy she used up from doing all that work so fast or all at once.

Unfortunately now it's time to talk about those ones, the ones that give Hypnos their stereotype they have today. Well for one they can be redeemed and changed if you do get time out of their hypnosis and are dead set on helping them have a better life, it'll be a tough road but it is possible and when I say you'll have a partner that will sacrifice themselves to save you I mean it fully, they will do anything to help keep you safe and happy, even if some of those things are a bit dangerous and a bit questionable morally but they care about you too much as you showed them a better life.

Sadly for the ones that can't be saved they will just prey on your want to save them and make you do things you may dislike, thankfully the ones that can be saved will be more hesitant to do this type of behavior. But for the ones that can't be saved there are ways to free yourself and alert rangers to them, always make sure to carry a flare gun to shoot into the sky, a loud bell, and a dark type pokemon as they are resistant to all of Hypnos powers.

It is sad that this does happen but thankfully these types of hypnos are so rare they barely count towards 1% of the Hypno population, and even then most hypnos that are like this can be saved and are just like this because of said stereotype so don't be afraid of your hypnos, chances are they are happy to have a partner that sees past the negative words and sees them for who they are.

Alright now onto the juicy stuff! Well I'll start off with what won't happen without either of you talking about it and discussing limits. Hypnosis and Somnophilia. Your Hypno partner, provided they aren't part of the stereotype problem, will not use their powers on you or use you while you're asleep without discussion or consent beforehand. This is even more nerve wracking for them if they aren't good at hypnosis or got in trouble before because of this sort of thing, be prepared to praise and comfort them for a while during the first few times you and them do this.

Doesn't matter if she is on top or bottom, your Hypno partner will be an absolute love bug and let you know how much she's enjoying you, whether that be from any noises she makes or from words she speaks if you and her have a psychic link.

If your partner is particularly dominant then expect some small hickeys and marks from her. Whether those be physical and or mental marks, of course she'll make sure you want these. She'll make sure her cute little pet is happy with their mistress. Any hypnosis done by her will be both exhausting but heavily pleasurable, expect to be drained dry without her even having to touch you.

But on the other hand, if she is very submissive then expect tons of cute and easy to tease noises from her every time you bottom out in her or hit a sensitive spot. Any hypnosis done by her will probably be very minimal or slight, maybe just making you have more energy or more dominant and rough than before. But other than those hypnosis will be very minimal and small.

If you and your Hypno partner have been together long enough and are both fine with her using your body while under her hypnosis she might experiment a bit with what kinks you enjoy, for example she could give you a slight out of body experience with you observing your body serving her or yourself while you watch, almost as if your looking in through the eyes of another person. It's quite fun and an odd experience from what others have told me, I've yet to try it but I do look forward to it someday.

And for those who are asexuals they can just have their partner hypnotize them and just cuddle up with them and relax, with your partner gently petting and giving you tons of affection and words of encouragement and love. Hi, big Digimon blogger here, and I have to correct anon. While Biyomon as a species NOW wanted to be birdramon, it never was able to do so on the original Vpets and occurred as a sort of ret-con/advertising of the newer pets as they released. On THAT note, the anime was not well planned out and "wrote in" a ton of new lore (and evolutions) that the OG franchise (which started with the toys) did not have. Do you know who could turn into Birdramon? Elecmon; and Birdramon turned into SkullGreymon at first, Garudamon wouldn't be until later. Biyomon was always originally intended to go Kokatorimon, then later the OG anime and the releases of the pendulum pets in Japan added to the evo rosters of the cast from the Pendulum pets.

Tentomon also debuted like this, or Gatomon later as the Pen1.5 updated member. It's advertising. While it's tempting to think the anime set a lot of it, there's precedent in the original data books and collectors books in Japan stating the toys are what really drove it, with the anime later altering others. To mention Gatomon again, she originally was a Nature Spirits 1.5 addition, then the anime spurred a 5.0 release of the Pendulum pets with her "proper" place now being in Virus Busters. RavelMonte has a blog that WONDERFULLY breaks down the history of Digimon BEFORE the anime, and the early franchise struggles with their lore.

@_@ The deeper you probe into Digimon history, the more apparent it becomes what a unique moment in culture that must have been. Truly understanding what it must have been like to be a kid in Japan watching the show debut is a fascinating but difficult endeavor.

Former race anon here, wouldn't there be more than two options though?? Like, isn't "I'm not oppressing anyone ergo Black people's worse results are genetic" jumping to conclusions? Culture, upbringing, education, income, crime rates et cetera should all be considered at the very least not less valid reasons.

For the record, people have been doing linearly better and better on IQ tests in the years since they were implemented. You seem to be big on evolution, so I suppose you might explain it with that, but when we're talking about only some seven decades of time, wouldn't it be far easier to speak of rising education rates and easier access to information (as well as possibly a certain modern focus on specifically preparing children to do well on similar tests)?

Short answer is the other way round: "Black people's worse results are mostly genetic, ergo there's no point blaming me for oppression".

Long answer... is very long. Yes, there's a lot of factors. Yes, environment plays a role. But I have looked at the arguments at great length and concluded that one, genetics is the largest factor, two, genetics is the factor whose role is being most strongly suppressed.

Three, tongue slightly in cheek: the nonrandom environment is indirectly genetic in the sense that it's mostly picked by your parents with whom you share a lot of genes. ;)

There was once a large-scale attempt at trying to resolve that indirection, where the government had great plans to improve the lot of a new generation of a what the government saw as an underclass, by having them be raised by other parent figures outside of the underclass environment so that the children wouldn't grow up to be underclass.

If I say it started with the "Aboriginal Protection Act of 1869", establishing the "Aboriginal Protection Board", you might anticipate that this is leading up to the incident later known as the "Stolen Generations" in Australia and it was a failure both practically and morally. I do not want to try that again.

I feel like the other side of the pendulum would be hatred and regression, but my position is one of futility: stop attacking me for things I didn't do and I can't fix, and you can't fix, and nobody seems able to fix, and previous attempts at fixing it directly had a tendency to become atrocities, both genetic and environmental programs.

So much for the big programs to fix environment. Meanwhile a lot of other things have made a lot of indirect, gradual and cumulative improvements to environment (and towards closing the racial gap in environment) like famine being so far gone from America that hunger activists are having to define down "food insecurity" with criteria like "missed one or more meals in the past month", and the race gaps in performance and outcomes stubbornly persist. If this is environmental, it's a kind of epicycle-laden environment which behaves awfully similarly to genetics! I'll copy a specific example from an earlier discussion that I have to hand: the NAEP math assessment of students found that whites were 30 points ahead of blacks in 2005 and whites were 30 points ahead of blacks in 2022.

In the replies, Brazenautomaton put forward the argument that this is perhaps because nobody is even trying to close the gap, the zero change is a result of zero work put in, race activists are too busy writing intersectional fanfic to do anything useful.

If that's true, that still suggests the same response as if it were genetic: no resources should be put towards environment-focused race programs because they have a 0% effectiveness at closing the gap and will spend the money writing intersectional fanfic instead of doing anything to help Black kids.

I'm aware of the Flynn effect. It is also not closing the gap.

Something else that frustrates me that's hard to properly explain in a single post is how much there's an interlocking set of lies and fallacies defending racial environmentalism, from the platitude "race is only skin deep" (proven false here) to the guilt-by-association ad Hitlerum, or the absolutely colossal motte-and-bailey "race is a social construct". Imagine having your legs broken and someone sneers "legs are a social construct" because they oh-so-cleverly found edge cases in the definition of leg. There's selective demands for rigor, and there's calls for a "more-closed evidentiary culture".

ARCH ENEMY Shares Music Video For 'Blood Dynasty' Title Track

Swedish/Canadian/American extreme metal titans ARCH ENEMY have released the video for the title track of their upcoming album, "Blood Dynasty". The LP is slated for release on March 28 via Century Media Records.

Following the surprise drop of their single "Dream Stealer" in July and the subsequent release of "Liars & Thieves" in October, "Blood Dynasty" marks the third single offering from the highly anticipated album. The track promises to deliver ARCH ENEMY's signature blend of powerful guitar riffs and dynamic vocals, showcasing the band's evolution while staying true to their roots.

Founder and guitarist Michael Amott shares: "The third single from our upcoming album has arrived, and it's the title track: 'Blood Dynasty'! "Dream Stealer" marked ARCH ENEMY's first new music since the release of the "Deceivers" album, which came out in August 2022.

"Dream Stealer" was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The video was directed and produced by Patric Ullaeus.

Four months ago, Amott told Pulp Magazine about "Dream Stealer" and ARCH ENEMY's plans for new music: "We've been staying busy for sure and are really focused on writing and recording new stuff in between the touring we're doing. I'm kind of always coming up with new musical and lyrical ideas though — I just keep going as it's what I enjoy doing anyway. Making music is a natural process, and it's pretty much a daily thing, so it can be hard to pinpoint exactly when everything was conceived. I do, however, actually remember that the initial seed for 'Dream Stealer' was written during a songwriting session I did with Daniel [Erlandsson, drums] in Los Angeles, California, two years ago, and then it's been rearranged and updated a lot till it reached its final state that you're now hearing."

Asked if it was a conscious decision to go back to the "classic ARCH ENEMY" direction and approach with "Dream Stealer", Amott said: "I've seen some seriously great feedback from the fans, and that's always very encouraging, of course. Personally, I don't know if I’d necessarily say 'Dream Stealer' is a throwback to the sound of the past, but I get what they mean — the song has the energy and speed that is very exciting and infectious. Maybe there is a hint of vintage ARCH ENEMY in there, and why not? I'm looking forward to playing it live on stage — I think it is going to be intense as hell."

ARCH ENEMY played its first concert with new guitarist Joey Concepcion on April 24 at Musinsa Garage in Seoul, South Korea. The show was part of ARCH ENEMY's 2024 Asian tour.

In December 2023, ARCH ENEMY announced that it had "amicably" parted ways with longtime guitarist Jeff Loomis.

Jeff, who was the main songwriter in his previous group, NEVERMORE, joined ARCH ENEMY in late 2014, but was not involved in the writing for the latter act's last two albums, 2017's "Will To Power" and the aforementioned "Deceivers".

This is going to sound like a completely deranged question, but I hope you can see what I’m trying to say here.

Is the upkeep dying?

Not, of course, that the upkeep will ever be removed. nor that it will ever stop seeing use. See the popularity of the new obeka. But it seems like this idea of an ‘upkeep’ has slowly adjusted to precombat main, catalyzed primarily with the prevalence and general enjoyment of sagas in modern mtg. Do you think this is just a swing of the pendulum, or a permanent trend towards simplification of magics information tracking.

It is a change, but it’s more an evolution than a simplification. Upkeep costs haven’t been a major thing in decades.
