Absolutely I understand the sentiment completely especially because we get so little from yamada and in the end his arc really never gets resolved!!!!

From the beginning and going as far as back as the vigilante manga ever since oboro's death, you see yamada bury his true feelings and constantly hide under his persona of the present mic.

There's quite an obvious symbolism with present mic always being calm and collected whenever he has his glasses on and yamada lashing out without his glasses or with his glasses slipping of his face, without his hero persona and so this scene that grinds your and my gears is shown to be the first scene where yamada and present mic's personalities merge with present mic outwardly and directly expressing grief and anger towards midnight's death.

If we did get a scene where aizawa and yamada got to talk here it would of done wonders for BOTH of their characters and would of given us some justice for midnight whoms death doesn't seem to be properly acknowledged past this point as even in the finale hori shows us the pair visiting oboro's grave and not hers.

For aizawa, this scene would have shown him actually giving back to his friends, which is something that many aizawa critics point out that he doesn't do!

For present mic, this would have kickstarted and started to resolve his own arc. This scene, being the stimulus to present mic, acknowledging his own trauma and grief caused by the situation and having him finally discover his true self being a mix of both yamada and present mic.

Yes, yamada is violent and angry at the world. Yes, he is grieving and never got the chance to properly do so. However, yamada also loves people interacting with others , which brings him joy. Interactions with oboro are a core part of his high-school days. He also loves the radio and music but there's an intersting interpration here of him loving these two things to hide and cover his true self from the world as we see that he does this with the yamada and present mic persona's. However, you can have him develop and reach a point where radio and music become an accurate part of representing and expressing himself instead of using it to hide from the world.

(Yes, there are a lot of interesting contrasts he has with jirou here!!)

And for midnight, this scene could have expanded upon her own life and would have shown us people outside of 1A students grieving her.

In the end, I heavily understand why this scene grinds your gears because it does for me to and it seemed like there was so much wasted potential for this trio as a whole especially present mic who is my favourite out of the rooftop squad.
