Update: Last.Fm Scrobbler!
Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in to share that I made a couple of edits to my desktop theme, mainly to add a real-time last.fm recent plays scrobbler, so you can always check in and see what I've actually been listening to lately!
The code came from here, intended for use on spacehey but still functional here on tumblr!

#copying the tags bc it is very much a tag rant#bros. truly it has been nothing but a wonderful time here#perhaps even the most enjoyable time i have ever had in a fandom despite being here for like 3 months tops#(bc i'm actually posting stuff and interacting with people for once but i digress)#but i cannot deny. being part of a smaller quieter fandom after coming from some of the larger ones on here has me scratching at the walls#guy on the left was me in september where everything was new to me and i had all this wonderful fanwork to go through. autism heaven#guy on the right. me rn. please do not ask me how many times i have refreshed the tags on both here and ao3. it's ungodly#has me doing things like (on top of actually interacting with people) rereading fics. long ones. which i have done before. twice?#out of many years of reading#i've hunted down nice long fics older than me (also never done before) (because none of my other fandoms are older than me but still)#[edit nvm i remembered there was exactly one fandom i've dipped my toes in that is also older than me so ive definitely read some fics#from there that were Aged. didnt hunt those down tho it just happened. edit over]#but i've put off reading them bc like. what if they don't get them like we do yknow. what if they write something and it's Wrong#perhaps a terrible thing to think of them because what i can tell their writing is very high quality but still..#every day i consider rereading welcome to the panopticon on ao3 and one day the demons will take over and i will be reading all 88k words#once more. among other fics#congrats to these guys they truly have consumed me and i fear it is terminal#kit yap session

Not going to lie, I think the worst thing you can do to your narrative is build up to something and then not deliver it. It just devalues the rest of your story and leaves people going, “Then what was even the point of introducing this???”
#we created a world where a spell maintains the status quo#and not only does that spell actively harm some the oppressed residents of this world#it also is powered of the life force of living beings#veilguard critical#if you’re going to introduce prophecies and ancient beings having centuries-long machinations in the background#only to at the end go ‘oooop no’ we didn’t actually mean any of that#and expect people to go ‘oh yeah no we totally get it!’#and not ‘wait what??’#you’re going to have to work much harder than Veilguard did to create a satisfying narrative to fill in the reasons why those things#did not come to pass#and definitely better than ‘oh actually this ancient being asking for a reckoning to shake the very heavens#wasn’t actually asking for a reckoning to shake the very heavens’#in fact she wanted the complete opposite#and doesn’t want to preserve the old ways#lol our bad#the chant of light?#i don’t know her#Sandal? who?#BioWare was like#and the narrative ends up being “this is a good thing actually” this is how the world should be#even though the three previous games were all leading narratively to a—perhaps cataclysmic—change#but a change that the narrative warranted#because you know#the prophecies#and the narrative threads#god this game was so unsatisfying in that regard#and many others but this is not the post for that

#jack and dean#zachariah's recruitment tactics#another little nugget of a parallel#zachariah can't break jack or dean#jack specifically picks up on the game immediately#spn 5x03#spn 13x14#spn the end#spn good intentions#jack's deepest insecurities were his earth dads burning to death in the bunker#and his authority figure aligning against humanity#but jack turned against his fake heaven father's fake authority :-)#just as dean in the end rejected what he saw and balked at zach's authority#this is deeply in parallel to dean's insecurities of losing his family 4x17 and then in the end 5x03 of becoming a nihilistic john#plus dean's fears of bobby's weakness/death and of cas becoming like dean while dean becomes like john and sam becomes like lucifer...#dean was also anxious that cas made a choice and got STUCK with them: we see zach!cas say wistful things about heaven being a *better club*#in some ways i feel like the rejection of cas-as-dean is a bit a rejection of his siren nick in 4x14 which is ALSO a dean-doppelganger#it's a growth of realizing what you think you want isn't actually what you want and as you grow up you look outside yourself#and learn to see people as they are and not simply as reflections of yourself or a mix of all things familiar in your life#ANYHOO#i just love that zach's mind games are connected to two introspective characters who are full of heart i/g#in both cases zach's worlds are drawn to get the characters to make a specific decision - dean to give his body over and jack to open a doo#UNRELATED/// the end was one of the reasons that i thought perhaps dean had fallen in love with cas subconsciously quite early#dean early ideas of love (1) familial (2) white picket fence (3) the siren which was a mix of all things safe/familiar john-dean-bobby-sam#on (3) dean thought perhaps that love meant being understood meant a coworker mean SOMEONE JUST LIKE ME#and cas confused him because cas is definitely not SOMEONE JUST LIKE ME#so when dean's brain tries that out? tries to label that? tries to make cas JUST LIKE ME... it balks because that's not what love feels lik#dean's brain then settles on accepting how DIFFERENT cas is from him#ergo he doesn't want cas to change to meet the idea in dean's head or to be LIKE dean himself (esp not a smoky hedonistic caricature)#instead dean embraces how weird and scary an unexpected cas is as an individual... cause that's what love actually is it's RISKY and SCARY

idk if it means anything really, but i think it's interesting how after all their time together as a couple in a christianity-adjacent world, lucifer and lilith only had one (1) child, and it was only 200 years ago at that
#for a show based on a religion notorious for the expectation put on women to become mothers (especially at a young age)#(and in certain extreme cases the only real role of a woman being essentially that of a breeding tool/incubator)#it's a neat detail (though quite likely unintentional) that the Ultimate 1 Most Horrible Sinner Couple betrayed heaven's rules#then went on to have a long (happy? generally successful?) relationship without needing/rushing to have children#presumably satisfied with one another rather than feeling obligated to make themselves “useful”#I feel it really highlights exactly the sort of differences that came of lilith choosing lucifer over adam#like no wonder amirite.#freedom for lilith was as small and inherent a thing as bodily autonomy (👀); as getting to have a relationship where she can be loved for#who she is instead of what services she can provide#the show obviously mentions this a lot in other ways but to me a main example of this is the childlessness in their marriage#again idk if it means much but i haven't seen this talked about much i know this specifically is not talked about in the show either#but it's a pretty obvious deviation from what christianity teaches women and what lilith would have especially known to be her role at the#beginning of humanity where they needed to do a lot of ~populating~#even nowadays the expectation for women to become wifes and be subservient to their husbands & the role of sex being purely reproductive#all that time but only 1 kid & so late too just goes to show how absent those roles + rules + expectations were once lilith rejected adam#(and therefore heaven)#which. the detail itself can be interpreted in different ways as can the reaction to this particular interpretation. but personally i'm just#happy for her that she (perhaps/presumably/temporarily) got to experience a loving relationship based on mutual respect and equality etc.#so like good for her#this doesnt really have a point i just thought it was a cool detail#rant post#shitpost#kind of#hazbin hotel#lucilith#i am not trying to generalize christianity itself here btw#and when i say extreme cases i do mean *extreme* as i know it's not reflective of the religion as a whole or it's principles#but in the hellaverse specifically it does seem like those teachings and mentalities and heavily unequal gender roles *were* meant to exist#so the specific lack of their fulfillment with lucilith seems important

There’s so much in these frames that I can’t ignore. It was said by Charlie that Lilith & Lucifer “together” offered Eve the gift of free will; but Lilith is positioned far from the actual event. She's detached & even seemed hesitant to step forward. Her body language doesn’t read as welcoming or encouraging; she’s not engaged. She's a witness, a bystander; she's not even smiling. Why is she framed as so removed from Eve?
Then there's Eve. Seated, silent, staring downward; her posture looks like grief or resignation. She almost looks discarded; what exactly pushed her toward the fruit? Abuse? Neglect? Was it truly a choice or a last resort? There’s some tragic undertone here that can’t be dismissed; whatever this was, this is what compelled her to eagerly take Lucifer's offer,
Now, take note of tree: heavy with luminous fruit, spreading its roots deep beneath Eve, like it knows she's going to succumb to temptation; it’s not just a symbol, it’s an influence, a presence. I don’t think it’s just a metaphor for sin; I think it is literally Roo: “Root of all Evil,” The apple? That wasn’t just knowledge; it was contact. One theory suggests Eve might carry Roo now as a possession, a parasite a fusion, or an unresolved tether. Think of Tim Drake / Joker; perhaps Roo embedded herself in Eve. They are not the same individual; Eve didn't become Roo, rather Roo overwrote select portions of her system — she didn’t need to replace Eve; she only needed access to her body. Roo could be a literal infection,
It’s also telling that only Lucifer is shown to be the one giving the fruit, [ not Lilith & Lucifer together like Charlie states ] while Lilith stands away; perhaps he was naive, blinded by the belief that free will was inherently good, or maybe he was complicit, aware that something else lived beneath the bark & gave it anyway, or perhaps he truly didn’t know, believing he was offering liberation when he was actually handing Eve over to a force older & darker than even he understood,

#i am having thoughts . but i am not too confident to make them their own posts#mmmost notably#about how nice of a thought it is — to imagine a bard that ven can get to hold again. to hear again#but . the idea that in canon . the best he could do to replicate that feeling is either holding himself and pressing softly or perhaps#gathering a long pillow in his arms and pretending#because mortals do not last long (not without consequence). and as said so much — time is merciless. it matters not how the clock ticks away#for you. whether it be by seconds or minutes. hours or years. it marches along regardless of anyone’s feelings to it#and you have to grasp at what lingers in between : the bonds that you make . the joy and sorrow . the laughing and silence#and you have to hold them close close close. to preserve them for another day#there is no getting back what was lost#but that’s a bit too bittersweet so anyways#first and foremost ven is a nuisance and we love him for that#secondly and much more importantly than the first point is that ven is full of love and care that it surprises me how it does not burst out#from him. ven puts others before himself A LOT. he wants everyone to be able to live peacefully. happily#to find that they can live another day with a smile#and if that means assuring them of what’s to come. or offering them a shoulder to cry on. or making a fool of himself#then by the heavens himself will he sign up for the task#he is not !!! a lazy archon i refuse this notion#he cares deeply for his people !!! he watches and he will help if they stumble and will back away when they wish to walk forwards on their#own !! and they will make mistakes and they will learn from them and he will be there …!!!!! to see them grow !!!!!#besides mondstadt doesn’t particularly ?? seem like they want a god to truly rule over them . tbh#and this is disregarding the fact that mond . fucking killed their first god . ven is not going to risk that ???#so what use would it be — to start randomly showing up as a god and guiding them that way ?? that would be pressuring !!#does this . am i making sense . im very tired#it’s 2am#lantern says stuff
