Moon, tell me if I could Send up my heart to you? So, when I die, which I must do Could it shine down here with you? 'Cause my love is mine, all mine I love mine, mine, mine Nothing in the world belongs to me But my love mine, all mine, all mine
something something about enjolras being grantaire's source of light all this time but at the moment of enjolras' death grantaire reignited that hope/light in enjolras (it's subtle but their hands are glowing!!)

The "new" (actually very, very old) fandom calls for a new fanart.

I feel like Crystal S. Chan's Enjoltaire is very underrated in this fandom, mainly cuz they don't have much scenes in the manga together which is a shame cuz i love their silly little designs
Just look at them, they are so adorable!

Today I'm thinking way too much about how to translate "permets-tu?" into English.
The verb "permettre" does literally mean "to permit/allow" but "Do you permit it?" has always felt way too formal to me, given the original French. First of all, the original phrase doesn't specify an "it" or a "me" (Le permets-tu? / Me permets-tu?). It's very short, very casual, very ambiguous.
Some alternative translations might be: "May I?" "Do you mind?" "If you'll allow?" "Is it alright with you?"
I think if I were to translate the chapter now I might go with "May I?" which keeps the casual, short, and ambiguous nature.
Also, Grantaire uses a lot of casual/ambiguous language in this chapter (maybe always? But I haven't been paying enough attention.) He says "Vive la République! J'en suis." (translated as "Long live the Republic! I'm one of them.") "J'en suis" is also a very ambiguous phrase. It's basically "I am of [something]" and the something is left unspecified. I would love for others to weigh in on this but I wasn't sure whether it could imply both "I'm a part of the Republic" and "I'm one of the insurgents." More modern translations of this phrase (on its own) would be "I'm in," or "I'm on board," but I don't know if that holds for the 19th century. (If something, such as a group of people, were specified beforehand it would still mean "I'm one of them / ...of which I am one / etc." in context) Any other French speakers with thoughts on these lines?

It’s wild how my middle school Enjoltaire obsession was so instrumental in establishing my ship preferences that to this day if you dig deep enough below the surface of most of my favorite ships, you will find Enjoltaire. Ascetically inclined, angelically beautiful zealot who is more fierce and cunning than his delicate appearance leads people to believe x rude, cynical, yet hopelessly romantic alcoholic who worships him like a god, loves arguing with him, and joins him in death? Oh, I’m sure. Who else does that remind me of, I wonder. Definitely not Armand and Daniel.

Get in the robot, or Elan will have to do it again.
Crossover/AU for me specifically because I've been rewatching Evangelion Rebuilds and WfM came back to kick me in the teeth. Suletta would befriend Shinji but I want to put N°4 in the same room as Rei and Kaworu.

Underrated trope, or perhaps a trope I really like to see and feel like talking about:
Those times at the climax of a series where basically EVERYONE shows up to the final battle to help the hero(es) beat up the big bad.
And not just the Avengers flavor of ‘a whole bunch of Big Important Named Characters’ showing up.
I mean, here’s EVERY side-character, ex-villain, former henchmen, nameless mooks, and random bystanders our main characters have met on their journey showing up to help. And not only that, but said characters throwing basically EVERY weapon, power, gimmick and whatever else they’ve used at the big bad.
My current favorite example of this trope is the final battle of Gravity Rush 2 where, again, it feels like EVERYONE heroine Kat has met over the past two games shows up to stop the big bad(s).
We’ve got Kat’s rival-turned-girlfriend/probable-soulmate.
The sorta-redeemed military bad guys and mad scientist from the previous game, including Kat’s cyborg rival and her partner/probable-girlfriend.
The ragtag bunch of miners who took Kat in during this game and their army of mechs and giant flying battleship with its massive fucking gun.
The shy, innocent girl Kat befriended who was brainwashed by the previous big bad into becoming one half of the previous final boss USING her supercharged ex-final boss powers to help Kat.
And Kat’s mysterious thought-dead best friend making a triumphant return commanding a massive horde of the shadow monsters you’ve been fighting across these two games and sending them against the big bad.
All while the people of the city Kat calls home and is trying to protect all sing the game’s main theme to cheer Kat on.
Like that right there?
THAT’S how you do a Grand Finale.
