Lately, I went to a nutritionist because I felt just helpless. It turned out that I have many bad eating habits that I thought were normal. Basically, nothing was as simple as "eat less". I have had a pretty big problem with the relationship with food since I was a kid. I wasn't even aware of it. And constant hearing "it's easy, just eat less" made me indeed eat less. About half too less than I should and it also caused a whole new level of other problems. And guess what? These problems cause gaining weight, not losing. Remember that knowing the cause of the problems is the first step to solving them and there's no one rule - especially on how to solve others' issues because you can do more harm than good.
I just got sad after realising that there are probably more people who have similar problems and they don't treat their bodies well not because they don't want to, or are lazy and purposely overfeed themselves but just because they don't know how to do it better and trivialising it may cause that their problems will be only worse. For sure there are many people who are simply unaware of the number of calories in the food they eat and then such advice indeed may help but for example, in my case, I've learned to count calories to the point that I can usually guess them only by looking on a product but the overall problem is a bit more complex. I'm not sure if I simply wanted to vent or just tell those who struggle too that they're not alone and that maybe all of the popular schemes for "being slim" don't work for them because they have some deeper issues that need to be understood first.
