Everyone froze.

Until the count of three, no one spoke. Then, at the same time, Regulus and Sirius asked, “What are you doing here?”

They glared at each other, and Regulus had to keep his eyes off of James. He always tried to make sure he was not around his brother and James at the same time. According to his friends, Regulus’s feelings were not well hidden, and though Regulus knew his brother was not incredibly perceptive, he didn’t want to risk it. 

“We’re trying to find ingredients for a potion!” Pandora said happily.

“No, you and Evan are trying to find ingredients for a potion and we’re making sure you don’t get killed out here,” Regulus added, though there was no real bite to it. Pandora just shrugged and grabbed his hand. Regulus did not miss the jealous look that James quickly covered.

“Well? What are you doing out here then?” Regulus questioned impatiently.

Sirius looked as though he was searching for a lie, but James spoke first. “Planning a prank.” Sirius glared at James, but James’s full attention was on Regulus. 

“Why are you not using your invisibility cloak?” Regulus asked before he could think better of it. 

“How do you know about that?” Sirius’s eyes narrowed.

Regulus did not answer, trying to regain his air of indifference. Barty laughed from beside them and continued his search for ingredients with Evan. The two were attached at the hip, and had been for the last week or so. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what had happened between them, though their friends were all waiting for them to admit it in their own time. Pandora and Regulus shared a knowing look and smiled, both wondering if they truly thought they were being discreet. 

James cast another jealous look Regulus’s way, and Regulus couldn’t help the little smirk that he quickly tilted his head to hide. Seemingly having forgotten about Regulus’s nearly-incriminating question, Sirius took Remus’s hand and walked ahead, leaving Pandora, Peter, Regulus, and James all standing around somewhat awkwardly. With a mischievous smile, Pandora walked over to Peter and guided him in another direction, where she had supposedly seen a cool plant she thought he would be interested in. 

“She’s evil,” Regulus told James. “I think everything she does is some insanely calculated plan to improve my love life.”

“If it got you to me, I can’t say I mind,” James said, offering Regulus his hand. 

“I suppose you’re right,” Regulus agreed, taking it.

still not clear if you meant lovers or losers anon HOWEVERR... i don't think they'd fuck. cunty ass friends, though, they're wreaking havoc once peter starts becoming hyperaware to how good being cruel feels. peter and pandora got close when sirius and mary broke up and mary paraded pandora around as her dog (<- in sirius' words) so sirius and pandora fought and peter ran into her while they were both covered in blood (peter coming from some duel). and pandora really likes how non judgmental and afraid of her he is so she develops the friendship too. when it gets romantic though i don't see it. pandora doesn't have the power and influence peter is attracted to and peter isn't interesting enough for pandora (not saying he's uninteresting, this is just pre-dark mark and she's not into whiny bitches). plus when pandora gets obsessed with someone she is obsessed and mutual obsession isn't really pandora's thing - not with peter, because then it's just mutual worship. pandora worships and whoever she's with is obsessed with her differently - eg xenophilius will perform all sorts of weird experiments on her. i do think they fucked though, but there was no real attraction on either ends (for pandora, attraction is only based on how much she's obsessed with you (does not understand beauty standards) and for peter... well, pandora's a little unique looking 🩷)

barty, stealing the marauder's map and figuring out how to open it- because of course he would, he's a genius- and seeing james and regulus suspiciously close together in the astronomy tower, dorcas and marlene in the gryffindor girls dorms incredibly close together, and pandora and lily also very close together in the ravenclaw dorms- not to mention, remus and sirius in a broom closet on top of each other, and peter and gilderoy in the gryffindor dorms also suspiciously close together-

James hasn't noticed that he's dating Regulus. they go on dates weekly, either to hogsmeade, the forbidden forest or just around the castle grounds. they hold hands and cuddle, they haven't kissed yet but they're very obviously dating. Regulus knows that James isn't aware of their relationship and that James likes him. He's willing to be patient, especially because he knows he'll be able to make fun of James about this for the rest of their lives.

regulus also has started a running bet to see how long it takes James to realise. The bets get progressively more unhinged on how and when james finds out.

Peter bets that James figures out because a glowing light from the sky will plant the knowledge into his brain. Barty bets that James won't realise until they're standing at the altar to get married. Sirius bets that Regulus will slip up. Lily bet that James will say "I love you" and that'll make him aware(it didn't, not even regulus saying it back did) Everyone has a bet, and by the time James figures out almost the entire school has placed a bet.

Pandora bets that James will kiss regulus without thinking about it and immediately pull away to say "OMG, REGULUS DID YOU KNOW WE'RE DATING" pandora is of course correct, she now has enough galleons to never have to work a day in her life.
