Z Cars - Eviction (3 March 1975)
As I had hoped, this week's episode of Z Cars broadcast on Talking Pictures TV concluded the storyline that began in last week's episode Squatters, finally showing the ultimate outcome of the eviction of the tenants squatting in the houses marked for demolition.
With PC Quilley (Douglas Fielding) having been hospitalized with a rather nasty blow to the head as the eviction turned violent at the end of Squatters, Inspector Lynch (James Ellis) has taken a harder line towards the squatters and isn't taking any more nonsense. Indeed, he is even rather cold towards the doctor squatter (Peter Mayock) who tended to Quilley's injury during the melee. Councillor Barwell (Patrick Troughton) however still fears the eviction could turn violent again and desperately bargains with the squatters one last time to try and address their concerns with the aim of convincing them to come out peacefully.
The tensions between Lynch and Barwell over how to deal with the squatters is handled really well and the excellent performances from Ellis and Troughton reflect this, most notably when Lynch refuses Carrie (Maureen Morris), one of the squatters who had gone outside to negotiate with Barwell re-entry back into the occupied house. Barwell protests but Lynch stands firm.
As in the previous episode, tensions also exist between the squatters and they are split over whether to accept Barwell's offer or not. Frank (John Kane), the self-proclaimed leader of the squatters is extremely stubborn and feels that even the slightest concession to the council is a sign of weakness and that they must resist at all costs while Carrie is more open to the council's offer, being more concerned with the immediate issue of just where the squatters are going to live once they're evicted instead of trying to defy the council, feeling that by surrendering now they'll receive better treatment than if they continue to resist.
The tensions between everyone in all factions (the police, the council, the squatters and Henderson's (Rio Fanning) security firm) are extremely well written and show how in a situation like this there are no easy answers. Indeed, the police see themselves as being caught in the middle, with this great exchange of dialogue between Carrie and Lynch showcasing perfectly their different views on the role of the police:
Carrie: You don't think we've got anything to protest about?
Lynch: No, I think it's time you took your fair share of the blame instead. You've been telling people it's society's fault for so long, nobody's got any respect for the law anymore.
Carrie: But surely even you can see that things need changing.
Lynch: Maybe, but not your way, I'm a copper, I'm in the middle. We get spat at, yelled at and get the blame from both sides. We're only trying to keep the peace.
Carrie: Propping up the establishment?
Lynch: Well somebody has to prop something up, love! Nowadays we're expected to be peacemakers, public relations officers, social workers, even bomb disposal experts and you still say we're in the wrong. If we weren't here to clean up the mess after you, nobody else would.
The eviction is finally over with around halfway through the episode, meaning the remainder of the episode brings to the forefront the sub-plot from the first half of the episode involving the hunt for Peter Davis (Alan Guy), the squatter suspected of attacking Quilley during the earlier melee. However, there is a great twist that throws Peter's role into doubt when Quilley claims from his hospital bed that he had managed to restrain Peter at the time he was hit during the fight and suspicion then falls on Henderson, who could well have used the fight to settle his score with Quilley given what we know about their shared history from the previous episode.
Overall, the 2-part storyline covered in both Squatters and Eviction is one of the strongest yet covered in the Z Cars episodes I've seen and packs a great deal of interest across both episodes, with numerous well-written characters, a great deal of tension and some excellent performances, the scripts written by Bill Lyons are of the very highest standard. This is Z Cars at it's very best as far as I've seen and I highly recommend both parts.

8 reasons why the Raiders are PERFECT for ‘Hard Knocks’

Jon Gruden? AB? Vontaze Burfict? This could be the drama HBO has been looking for since Season 6 of “Game of Thrones.”
HBO is going with the clear-cut best option for Hard Knocks this year: the Oakland Raiders.
It was made official in June when the NFL announced a premiere date for August 6.
The Raiders have added big personalities to their to team that match the bravado of head coach Jon Gruden. Their new general manager spent the past two decades as a successful analyst on television. They have a ton of room to improve coming off a 4-12 season. This is also their last training camp in Oakland before they head to Las Vegas in 2020.
The Raiders were one of five teams not allowed to say no if selected. Even Washington head coach Jay Gruden, Jon Gruden’s brother, thought that the Raiders should be the Hard Knocks team (probably so Washington doesn’t have to do it).
Gruden said he doesn’t mind if the Redskins do Hard Knocks but thinks HBO should go with the Raiders and do the Skins in 2020. I asked what happens if Skins make playoffs - Gruden: “If we miss the playoffs I won’t be here next year”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 29, 2019
And we agree, because Jon’s the more fun brother to watch anyway.

Oakland has the right mix of drama and roster-building questions for Hard Knocks. Here are eight reasons why the Raiders are the perfect choice for HBO’s hit show.
1. Where do we sign for an unfiltered Antonio Brown?
The Raiders’ biggest move of the offseason was to acquire Antonio Brown in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown has had a memorable (if chaotic) offseason, to say the least.
He’s publicly discussed his turbulent relationship with Ben Roethlisberger, tweeted shade at former teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster, and sported a blond mustache until he was traded to Oakland.

It’s clear that Brown isn’t afraid of saying what’s on his mind, which is perfect for an unfiltered show like Hard Knocks. Brown will be playing for a new starting quarterback and head coach for the first time in his nine-year career. If Brown struggles to mesh with Derek Carr and Jon Gruden, we should hear plenty of it from the future Hall of Famer.
Brown might have hinted ahead of time of a Raiders’ Hard Knocks appearance on his Instagram. He recently uploaded an old picture of him standing with HBO Sports executive Peter Nelson.

Now we’ll probably get a firsthand look at his annual outlandish training camp entrance. Last year, Brown showed up to Steelers camp in a helicopter — he might be looking to top that in his first year with the Raiders.
Even better, we’d get to see how Brown handles a longtime rival joining the Raiders.
2. Vontaze Burfict and Antonio Brown are reunited (TBD if it feels so good)
Vontaze Burfict is another familiar face that the Raiders signed this offseason. At first glance, the fit here makes a lot of sense. Burfict had his best years in Cincinnati under defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who holds the same title with the Raiders. While Burfict isn’t as dominant as he used to be, he should still be an upgrade for a defense that gave up the most points in the NFL last year.
However, Burfict and Brown have some unpleasant memories together. Burfict was suspended three games after he put a vicious hit on Brown that left him concussed during the 2015 playoffs. In 2017, Burfict claimed that Brown faked the concussion from that game. Last season, Burfict was fined $112,000 for unnecessary roughness after he threw his elbow into Brown’s helmet while Brown was being tackle by another Bengals defender.
Phew.
So far, the relationship between Brown and Burfict hasn’t been a problem for the Raiders. Gruden said that they were on the same team when the Raiders were playing their own version of Family Feud (please let us watch Brown and Burfict play Family Feud together).
That relationship might change when the pads go on for training camp, though. Training camp fights happen every year on Hard Knocks, and the history between these two has explosive potential. It could be the drama HBO has been looking for since Season 6 of Game of Thrones.
3. Oh yeah, Richie Incognito is in Oakland now too
Oakland recently signed guard Richie Incognito, who last played for the Bills in 2017, to a one-year deal. To put it mildly, Incognito has a checkered past with the NFL.
When Incognito was a member of the Miami Dolphins, he played a role in a harassment scandal that found him using racist and homophobic remarks toward a teammate and a trainer. After he initially retired from the NFL following the 2017 season, Incognito decided that he was going to unretire and come to Buffalo’s offseason workouts — except he never showed up and the Bills kept him on their reserve/retire list.
His brief retirement from the NFL was filled with other incidents. In May 2018, Incognito was involuntarily held for a psychiatric evaluation after an altercation at a gym in Florida. In August 2018, he was arrested for making threats toward a funeral home in Arizona. Incognito was suspended two games for violating the personal conduct policy.
The NFL has suspended #Raiders G Richie Incognito two games for violating the personal conduct policy. GM Mike Mayock was aware of likely discipline for a pair of incidents last year before signing Incognito to a one-year deal and has said they’ll help him help himself.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) July 12, 2019
Oakland know this was coming, but the Raiders signed him anyway. After the signing, Mike Mayock said the team had “done a lot of homework” on him.
A Hard Knocks appearance will give Incognito the chance to speak on his journey back into the league.
4. We’d get an inside look on the working relationship between Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden
Hard Knocks will give viewers a front row seat to the Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden show. Mayock was hired as the general manager in December after spending the better of 20 years on TV. He’s most well known for being NFL Network’s lead draft analyst.
Mayock didn’t have any experience working for an NFL front office prior to being hired by the Raiders. Watching Mayock go from TV to overseeing the Raiders would bring fans insight on a side of the business they rarely get to see. More importantly, it would show exactly how much power Mayock has.
Gruden’s 10-year, $100 million deal obviously gives him a ton of sway within the organization, but Mayock and Gruden appeared to be on the same page during their first draft together.
Hard Knocks will give us an even better idea of how Mayock and Gruden are running the team. They’ve been two giants of football media over the years — now there’s a chance to actually watch them piece together a 53-man roster.
5. Oh yeah there’s football too, like the Jonathan Abram vs. Karl Joseph position battle
Abram was one of three first-round picks by the Raiders in the 2019 draft. He’s a classic box safety with a physical style of play. Coincidentally, that also happens to be the best spot for former first-round pick Karl Joseph, who is in a contract year. With Lamarcus Joyner locking down one of the safety spots, Joseph and Abram will be a prime training camp battle.
Joseph was on the trading block during the season, but it seems like Gruden is willing to give Joseph a chance to prove his worth this year.
6. Paul Guenther is trying to rebuild the Raiders’ defense
Oakland had a brutal defense last year. The Raiders gave up 29.2 points in the league, had just 13 sacks, allowed 36 passing touchdowns, and surrendered 6.3 yards per play; all four of those numbers were last in the NFL. Oakland added several players this offseason including Clelin Ferrell, Brandon Marshall, and Maxx Crosby to go along with Burfict, Joyner, and Abram.
Those pieces should help a bit, but Guenther still has his work cut out for him in his second year with the team.
7. Kolton Miller staying at left tackle over Trent Brown
The Raiders opened the league year by signing former Patriots left tackle Trent Brown to a four-year, $66 million deal. However, Brown will be moving back to right tackle for the 2019 season. Kolton Miller will be manning the left tackle spot for the Raiders after a disastrous rookie year. Inconsistent play and a lingering knee injury left Miller as the lowest-rated tackle in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
Brown has played well at right tackle in the past, but he’s coming off a career year at left tackle. Miller needs to improve by leaps and bounds to justify him protecting Derek Carr’s blindside instead of Brown.
8. Maybe we’d get a Marshawn Lynch appearance?
There’s a chance we might get to a fan favorite now that Hard Knocks is going to Oakland. Marshawn Lynch is reportedly retired again, but he said he would be open to returning to the Raiders if they needed him.
The last time we saw Lynch, he used the Al Davis torch to light a blunt prior to the Raiders’ home finale against the Denver Broncos.
Using the torch to then light up himself hahahahaha pic.twitter.com/GpqumNHTdS

Raiders coach Jon Gruden reportedly ‘loves’ Kyler Murray
You could make the argument that none of the teams picking in the top five of the NFL Draft need a quarterback, yet it is starting to sound like there’s a legitimate chance two of them could want Kyler Murray.
Many people believe Murray will not make it past No. 1, as Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is said to be high on him and already telling people Murray is their guy. But if the Cardinals go in another direction, the next two teams picking — the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets — are not taking a quarterback. So what about the Oakland Raiders at No. 4?
Peter King of NBC Sports listed several things he learned at the Scouting Combine over the weekend about Murray’s situation, and one of them is that Jon Gruden “loves” the former Oklahoma star.
“He and GM Mike Mayock have gone out of their way to say multiple times that Derek Carr is their quarterback. Maybe they’re rock-solid on Carr, and maybe it’ll be a moot point if the Cardinals stay at number one,” King wrote. “But with all their draft loot in the next two drafts (five first-round picks), and with Gruden’s crush on Murray, the Raiders bear watching.”
Gruden was openly critical of Carr at times last season, though the Raiders seemed to commit to him as their starter again recently. While there are probably some within the Raiders organization that want to see things through with Carr, it’s noteworthy that neither Gruden nor Mayock were with the team when he was drafted.
It has already been suggested that the Raiders should move on from Carr and take Murray, and Carr openly fought back against that talk. Still, most people would not be shocked if it happened.

2018 Philadelphia Eagles Mock Draft
Howie Roseman and the Eagles will most likely be in wheel-and-deal mode on all three draft days. The biggest question is what kinds of offers they will get for pick No. 32.
What they receive in compensation will depend on how far down they actually go. Based on draft value charts, I’d say right around slot 40 is the delineation point for a 4th or 3rd round pick compensation.
If they trade back anywhere between 33-40, it’ll most likely be a 4th rounder they’ll net. Anywhere past that we should be getting into the 3rd rounder + territory (the further back we go, the more we should net).
So, with that in mind, I’ve decided to do my one and only mock draft this year based on who could be a good trade partner and what players the Eagles could be eying-up. Let’s get to it…
Round 1 – TRADE! (Big surprise, right?) Roseman finds a trade partner with a familiar friend…Andy Reid. Chiefs GM Brett Veach has already indicated “all cards are on the table” when asked about trading up. I’m sure Reid will have a lot of input on the Chiefs’ ultimate decision and we well know what positions Big Red values the most (Linemen and CB).
The Eagles are in a good spot to nab a highly regarded Cornerback in this draft and the Chiefs have a need after dealing Marcus Peters earlier this offseason. The Chiefs also have an extra third-round pick.
The deal: Eagles get picks 54 and 86 (third-rounder) for pick 32.
Round 2
RB Ronald Jones, 5’ 11” 205 lbs, USC
The Eagles have shown a TON of pre-draft interest of one form or another in the running back position. Last year they were burned by the Vikings who leap-frogged them to snatch Dalvin Cook in Round 2.
That’s why this time Roseman may have to make an additional move here. It’s quite possible that after trading back to 54 in order to pick up a third-rounder, he may have to sacrifice a 4th round pick to move up a few spots to ensure getting Jones.
For what it’s worth, Mike Mayock has Jones ranked as the 60th overall best player in the draft so it’s at least feasible he will be there at slot 54.
Jones may not have the preferred size to be a workhorse type of running back. But, that’s okay because that’s not how Doug Pederson rolls. Jones is a homerun hitter who has the speed and explosiveness to make big plays happen. He’s the type of RB the Eagles currently do not have on the roster.
Ajayi will likely assume the Blount role in 2018 and Corey Clement could feasibly slide into that role in 2019. In 2019 and beyond, a Clement/Jones pairing would make for an excellent 1-2 punch.
Round 3
TRADE! OT Brian O’Neill, 6′ 7″ 305 lbs, Pitt
Photo: USA Today Sports
Hopefully Roseman won’t have to trade up in Round 2 to land Jones. However, if they see O’Neill hanging around in Round 3 I think they should jump up to snatch him. Eagles send one of their fourth-round picks to Miami in order to move up 13 slots.
We all know the deal…Jason Peters is old as dirt (though he laughs in the face of Father Time) and his future beyond 2018 is very murky. Do they view Big V as Peters’ successor? This draft may answer that question.
They Eagles haven’t been tied to O’Neill in any forms of pre-draft interest that I’ve seen. However, he fits the profile of what they could be looking for in an offensive lineman (fast, athletic, projects well as a move blocker).
I think they have to come out of this draft with a good OL prospect one way or the other.
Round 4
TE Troy Fumagalli, 6′ 5″ 247 lbs, Wisconsin
3-finger catch! Photo: Tom Pennington/Getty Images
The Eagles need to add a tight end in this draft and I think it’ll happen in the mid rounds. Fumagalli fits what the Eagles need as he can both block and catch. Good red zone threat as well.
He would also be a good candidate for the next Jason Kelce underdog speech as Fumagalli was born missing his left index finger (“Zach Ertz can’t block! Troy Famagalli only has 9 fingers!”). However, that has not hampered his catching ability as some have called him the “9 Finger Bandit.”
Here is a good article on Fumagalli.
Round 5
WR Quadree Henderson, 5′ 8″ 192 lbs, Pitt
Photo: pittsburghpanthers.com
Henderson is one of the best punt and kickoff returners in the draft as he’s totaled seven return TDs over the past three seasons. He’s considered “elite” in this category.
Being a returner as well as a “gadget guy” on offense will be Henderson’s niche. Could be the new Darren Sproles.
Round 6
DB Malik Reaves, 6′ 200 lbs, Villanova
Photo: underdogdynasty.com
Versatile DB that can play both Safety and Cornerback. Also is a gunner on Special Teams. Only thing holding him back is his Jalen Mills-esque speed. Could be a steal at this point.
Round 7
DE Joe Ostman, 6′ 3″ 236 lbs, Central Michigan
Photo: From YouTube.com
Sleeper alert! Ostman is very light for the DE position at 236 pounds. However, he could certainly pack on a few pounds to improve his stoutness.
Ostman will likely be best utilized as a pure edge rusher, particularly from a Wide Nine alignment. Check out this scouting report with clips from breakingfootball.com.

5 Alasan Mengapa Kamu Terus Haus Walau Sudah Minum Air
The Eagles Met With One of the Top Tackles in the Draft
Could just be due diligence, but the Eagles met with highly-rated tackle Mike McGlinchey on Tuesday.
That’s according to… Mike McGlinchey, who spoke today at the combine:
Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey said he met with the #Eagles on Tuesday. As per @EliotShorrParks Jeff Stoutland was at the meeting. pic.twitter.com/7YHncAYPq5

#Eagles had a formal interview with OL Mike McGlinchey on Tuesday night. Jeff Stoutland was there.
— Eliot Shorr-Parks (@EliotShorrParks) March 1, 2018
McGlinchey is Matt Ryan’s cousin. How bout that?
He’s a Philly native who went to Penn Charter before playing college ball at Notre Dame, where he spent time at both right tackle and left tackle. He’s 6’8″, 312 pounds according to his draft profile at NFL.com, which says this about him:
BOTTOM LINE
McGlinchey will need to add more strength and mass to his athletic frame in order to hold up against NFL power, but his technique and instincts are pro-ready. He could be a polarizing prospect based on inconsistencies from his tape, but he gets guys blocked at a much higher rate than he loses his rep. McGlinchey should become an early starter at either tackle position, but his ability to handle bull rushers and power at the point of attack will define the type of career he has.
I love the NFL draft. Can’t wait to hear more about “football guys” with “strong motors” and “fluid hips” who are good at “the point of contact.”
Right.
Most mock drafts have McGlinchey going anywhere between 12th and 30th. Orlando Brown of Oklahoma and Connor Williams of Texas are two beefy Big 12 boys also projected to go in the first round. Kolton Miller from UCLA is viewed favorably, too, along with Louisville’s Geron Christian, but it looks like most mocks have those guys going in the second round. Kiper has them in the first round, for what it’s worth.
Tackles are always a big get in the draft. Think of the Lane Johnson year, when three of the top four picks were OTs. The Birds could certainly use a long term option behind Jason Peters, someone to compete with Big V for the starting job beyond 2018. One issue, beyond him going in the teens, is that New England’s Nate Solder is headed for free agency, and the Pats pick at 31, right before the Eagles, so some boards have McGlinchey being plucked right then and there.
Mayock likes him:
Mike Mayock would "bang the table" for Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey, a Philly native and Penn Charter alum. Mayock has him rated as the top tackle — saw him play in high school, watched him closely at ND, has been around him in the weight room. Thinks he can play right away.

And he also met with the Dolphins:

Also, if you’re a Pro Football Focus believer (sometimes their methods are whack), this is how they grade him:

Notre Dame had one of the country’s best runners in Josh Adams last year, a guy who went for 1,400+ ground yards and nine touchdowns against one of the nation’s harder schedules. This wasn’t some cupcake, Sunbelt shit. This was against a rundown that included Georgia, USC, Miami, NC State, and Stanford. The Irish had the county’s 7th best rushing attack with 269.3 yards per game and put up 34.2 points on average as well.
Some highlights to take a look at, since I know nobody in Philadelphia watches college football:
