¿Cuál es el secreto para armar una skin para la plataforma de foroactivo?

¡Hola! Soy Fred hablándoles.

Quería aprovechar el impulso que ha tenido esta idea de "aprender a armar skin para foroactivo". Por lo que traigo una guía práctica para ver por "dónde empezar".

Hay un paso cero y es "diseñar" la skin (o una tablilla).

Siempre puedes usar lápiz y papel donde haremos un esqueleto para ver dónde y cómo queremos ordenar el foro (o incluso una tablilla también) y después siempre es bueno pasarlo a Photoshop o algún programa de edición de imágenes donde puedan agregar y quitar cuadros, rectángulos e imágenes para ver el tema de los colores (el famoso Mock-Up que será nuestra muy útil guía visual).

Primero que todo, hay algo que vamos a usar siempre y es algún editor de texto. Ustedes dirán ¿Qué diablos es esto?

En términos simples un editor de texto es un programa o sitio web donde podemos escribir en distintos lenguajes de programación. Sin embargo esta vez hablaremos de tres tipos de códigos que se usan para hacer skins y/o tablillas en foroactivo:

HTML: Es el lenguaje que nos dará la estructura del código. En términos simples, y pensando en algo diario, podemos hablar del armazón de una casa o el esqueleto de una casa.

CSS: Es el lenguaje con el que le daremos "estilo" a la casa (en este caso, código). Es decir, lo que nos dará el color, disposición y demás.

JavaScript: Es el lenguaje con el cual "modernizaremos" la casa o bueno, lo que no podemos hacer moviendo cosas de la estructura del código.

Pero la pregunta es ¿Dónde aprendo todo esto? ¿Qué editor uso? ¿Puedo escribirlo directamente como si fuera un post?

Empecemos por los editores de texto y aquí hay tres que enumeraré de mi favorito hasta mi menos favorito.

Codepen: Es una plataforma simple y bastante intuitiva de usar, además que te permite ver muy bien lo que vamos haciendo a medida que vamos escribiendo. Te permite trabajar con los tres códigos y salta ante los errores.

JSFiddle: Es una plataforma un poco menos intuitiva a la hora de usar. Hay que sentarse un poco a leer y ver cómo se utiliza, pero es mucho más completa. No la uso tanto principalmente porque me acostumbré más a usar Codepen que otra cosa.

VSCode: VSCode es un programa que se descarga y es gratuito, pero se debe saber/aprender a usarlo. Es una máquina potente, ya que tienes que ir agregando y seleccionando los lenguajes con los que quieres trabajar. Sumando que trabajas con un localhost. Este lo sugiero usar si es que ya te maneras suficientemente bien con los distintos lenguajes dichos atenriormente.

Ahora, como dije antes, el HTML, CSS y el JS son lenguajes, por lo que se necesitan estudiar y practicar. Siempre he pensado que todos podemos aprender cosas nuevas y la verdad, es que saber de esto ayuda bastante. Ahora ¿Dónde puedes aprender esto?

Codeacademy: Es un lugar muy completo que explica de manera simple y sencilla cada uno de los tres lenguajes. También te hace hacer ejercicios que son bastante sencillos que te ayuda a comprender lo que se está haciendo.

@dixinmortal ( DixInmortal ): Es un foro hecho por Ross y Vick de Entourage que lleva bastantes años. También cuentan con discord y es un foro que te da ciertos ejercicios que son simples de llevar. Sin embargo, sugiero que, si quieres entrar al foro para aprender y vas teniendo dudas, también te unas al discord. A veces demoran en responder en el foro, pero en el discord siempre hay gente atenta que te puede ayudar a entender y en el caso que te equivoques que te pueda corregir.

@necromancercoding: un tumblr dedicado a venta de skin y a subir tutoriales para la edición de skins. También tiene códigos de su autoría. Si ven a un costado del tumblr, ya tras bajar un poco, encontrará un link que lleva a un listado enorme y recopilatorio de distintos ask's que le han ido haciendo. También cuenta con tutoriales bien divertidos e interesantes.

Si leíste hasta aquí, te agradezco mucho. Aprendí a hacer estas cosas por gusto y ganas de aprender. Llevo cerca de 7 años codeando (en las sombras, siempre) y estos son los sitios en los cuales aprendí a hacer todo lo que sé (claro, hay muchas otros sitios más, pero siento que son los más didácticos).

Hay otras cosas más que se necesitan saber para empezar a hacer skins, como es aprender cómo funcionan los templates u hojas de foroactivo, pero, eso quedará para otro post, ya que ese es otro mundo.

Siempre digo que sugiero empezar haciendo tablillas y familiarizándose con estos lenguajes.

I will literally piss myself if you do art of my boys. Somebody did art for my Joey oc once, and im still in recovery. Honestly, I'm pretty fast and loose with character descriptions but I'll drop a few I'm sure of!

Pez: Tall and a little plump, gentle giant, tan skin and really long black hair, he's half indigenous, and he's got a lil freckle on his chin.

Tyler: He's actually less like, hair dyed and pierced and hardcore alt looking simply because he's too poor for affording hardcore accessories and even box dye, so he's a dirty brunette with deep brown eyes from smoking. Kind of a shitty wolf cut, but it's mostly because he can't go to the barber, so it rotates between that and being shaved.

Joseph: dirty blonde, smaller than the other boys but gangly. Like, he's short, but what little of him there is is all arms and legs. And bony, so fucking bony.

Carter: Blonde, he can be smug and satisfied at times, but he's got these cold, empty blue eyes that kind of freak everyone out, and a permenatlt neutral expression. It's impossible to tell what's in his head.

Paul Burton: Clinically unenthusiastic, he's always got a coffee in hand and is looking like he'd rather drive himself off a cliff than be here. Kind of a stubble, but just cause he can't be bothered to shave. He has dorky, super thick glasses which are not chic? And he hates them but cannot see past his hands without them. Laid back clothing wise, his shitty Hawaiian t-shirts or coffee stained worn out buttons uo barely match school dress code. Brunette, very curly hair.

Joel Murphy: DAD BOD, he's got a dad bod and a beer belly. He's kind of ashamed of not being as good looking as he was in his prime, but for as rugged as he claims to be he takes great care of his Ned Flanders looking mustache and his hair. Also a brunette. He's also got some impressive tiddies, do that's a major plus.

If you are a movie fan and haven't read the book yet, here are some irrelevant details from the book

Henry owns a cardigan

Arthur and Catherine meet on a Henry V play (which they named Henry after), which Catherine went to see and saw Arthur playing. She "shook off her security to disappear into London and dance all night".

Pez listens to kpop, and he got Alex into it

Nora watches drag race and got Henry into it

Henry is an Elton John fan (actually relevant in the book)

Alex is a Hall & Oates fan

Alex wears glasses (actually relevant in the book)

Henry is described by Alex as having lots of moles

Bea is the rockstar girlfriend, at the end of the book she plays on a concert and everything. She plays the guitar and is always wearing a leather jacket. She also has a fat cat called Mr Wobbles. And the queen wanted her to learn violin “since it was more proper” instead of guitar. “Bea was allowed to learn both, but she went to uni for classical violin.”

During the turkey phonecall, Henry is wearing a peely face mask

Amy is trans and has a pansexual wife

(Actually relevant) Catherine was not off in another country the whole story, just battling intense grief for her husband's death, so she wasn't present in her children's life, so they felt as if they lost both parents.

There's no king, she's actually a queen, her name is Mary and she should die (she's so so much worse on the book than the king is on the movie)

David is a service dog

(Actually relevant in the book) June bought a teen magazine at 15 and 13 year old Alex would sneak into her room to stare at the magazine (and the picture of a blonde 14 year old British prince on it).

Bea is the middle kid, Henry is the youngest

Henry is canonically on therapy and on antidepressants (since the start of the book)

I don't remember if they mentioned it on the movie but Arthur was James Bond and died of pancreatic cancer.

Alex’s favorite Olympic sport is rhythmic gymnastics

Bea had an addiction problem when Henry was about 17 (as a way to cope after their father's death) and only got herself into rehab after Henry went to her and started crying about dad was dead and he was gay and scared so she couldn't kill herself. That's how he came out to her

Alex doesn't wanna be president at the end of the book, he starts law school

Henry favourite star wars is Jedi, Alex's is Empire

June is allergic to peanuts

Alex runs and runs to cope and clear his head

He did not know he was bi until after Henry kissed him. Yes, he had a friend with benefits relationship with his high school friend Liam, but he genuinely thought it was perfectly platonic and straight

Also he doesn't keep on touch with Liam after high school (their friendship just slowly fades away, with living so far and Alex being suddenly famous) but they reconnect at the end

Alex and Henry move in together on a brownstone on Brooklyn, eventually they marry (after Henry abdicates) on the lake house, they move to a farmhouse on Austin, they spend their honeymoon unpacking

The karaoke scene happens not while on Texas but in some club full of queer people. The whole group is there, Pez got them matching kimonos. Alex’s says Hoe Dameron, Henry’s says Prince Buttercup. Aside from Henry singing Don’t Stop Me Now, Bea sings Call Me by Blondie, and Pez sings So Emotional by Whitney Houston in a “shockingly flawless falsetto”.

The lakehouse confessions happens while at night

The Kensington fight (after the lakehouse confession) is much more dramatic, they don’t go to the v&a that night, but the next night. That morning Henry got up early, and brought Alex coffee when he woke up. They made up.

Also Alex takes his coffee with cinnamon

RWRB Movie Thoughts: Philip

Honestly I might be the only one, but I wanna know more about Philip in the movie. And at the very least, I am begging for a redemption arc in the sequel.

Because they fucking cut the Kensington Breakfast scene, we barely get any of Philip in the movie. And the consequence is while we know that just like the book, Philip is an antagonistic character, we're not sure about his stance on the matter.

So the thing is Philip in the book isn't homophobic. And by that I mean that in the most generous sense: Queen Mary straight up says it's unnatural, which is the textbook definition of homophobia, but Philip says, and I quote from Henry "Essentially, I gathered that he was not surprised to discover I am not the heterosexual heir I'm supposed to be, but rather surprised that I do not intend to keep pretending to be the heterosexual heir I'm supposed to be" and from the man himself "I don't care if you're gay, I care that you've made this choice with him, someone with a fucking target on his back, to be so stupid and naive and selfish as to think it wouldn't completely fuck us all!"

Philip isn't necessarily against the concept of homosexuality, he's against bringing that into their family, and is worried about the conservatives turning their backs on them because of that. In a way, his stance is closer to the King in the movie than the Queen in the book.

Other stuff we can learn about Philip from the book:

he's...kind of racist, but in the form of microaggressions (his comments on Pez during Wimbleton)

He is genuinely in love with Martha, and he's kind of a hen-pucked husband (his retelling of his and Martha's suitor photos)

He started off a people pleaser, then the Queen took that and made him an asshole (explanation of why the change of attitude after Alex and Henry's photoshoot)

He wanted Arthur's approval but never got it, and resents Arthur a bit because of that (his argument with Henry before they met with the queen)

He wants to get along with his siblings, he just kept doing it the wrong way

My point is, even though a relatively minor character, Philip's motivations and character is actually painted out pretty logically if you take a closer look. His redemption in the book, his change of attitude, it makes sense if you looks back on it.

And while I can't fault the movie for cutting down details like these, this is just the way adaptation works and Matthew did an excellent job of picking and choosing, it does leave space for questions and curiosity.

The only thing I can get out of movie Philip is 1, he also loves his wife, since they're childhood sweethearts 2, the King dismisses him 3, he didn't know Henry was gay at all.

From the deleted Breakfast scene bts from Taylor and Thomas, we know that Philip is in that scene, and that Philip sees something, and is in shock.

Bur from the bts of the Thanksgiving scene, he and Martha are at the Brownstone: he's forgiven.

So here are my questions:

Is Philip homophobic in this one? Or is he also more mad about the family aspect?

Does he, at any point in the 65 deleted scenes, act like he wants to be a brother? Like he genuinely cares about his siblings

What is he reacting to during the Breakfast scene? In the book, when Henry came out to him it was just him, Henry and later Shaan, but the Breakfast has all of the Super Five there. Is he really gonna make a scene in front of all five of them?

Why is he forgiven? What is his change of heart?

I don't know, I think it's probably just me who's wondering about him of all people. But I would really like to see more of Thomas in this role (the photobooth shoots he did with Nick and Ellie, peak sibling energy) and I'm just really interested in Henry's family dynamic in the movie-verse, given that I feel like it's less black-and-white and more... realistic? than the book? There's also part of me that's somewhat sympathetic towards Philip despite being a Henry-coded girl because I feel like if I was a less feeling person, I might have ended up just like him.

Anyway, yeah. Philip redemption arc in the sequel please!!!

So I was talking to my sister about how Aaravos most likely literally ate Aditi bc he can eat people like pez, and I meant it to be a serious conversation about how dark magic is about consumption, up to literally eating your own flesh. And bc she's immature and Soren-coded she had the audacity to say "if Aaravos ate her would he have to poop her out". Now, I don't believe that bc I don't think Startouch elves need to eat normally even in mortal form, but she said we needed other opinions.

And finally, Pez from the Tri Time War AU

Pez is the son of the Sheikah chief and has long been fascinated by mechanics and technology. He would buy wind-up toys with his allowance as a child and take it apart to see how it worked, reassembling it and making it more efficient. By the time he turned twelve he was building his own mechanical devices and using the magic of his people to power them. His genius was noticed, and Princess Zelda Aurum Harkinian summoned him to her court. Princess Aurum was 16, and Pez quickly developed a crush on the graceful ruler. He began building machines to support her goals, be it a device to bring water to a drought-stricken area or a flying machine to transport goods. He was more cordial to the other factions and their leaders, as Sheikah are sworn to the Royal Family and he could thus subconsciously sense they were all telling the truth about being Royal. His politeness helps temper some of Princess Aurum's fiery attitude, and there were many times an outright declaration of war was avoided by his swift intervention.

Unfortunately, signs of Ganon's return grew more prevalent over the years. Believing Princess Aurum would be the chosen princess, and fancying he might be the hero, he began to develop several large machines to help defeat the Demon King. When the Chosen Princess emerged instead from a small village, Pez was initially skeptical. Zelda of Mabe did not feel royal to him, not like Aurum. It was not until he witnessed her blasting a malice-infested Talus with her powers that he realized she truly was the Princess of Legend.

The conflict was agonizing for him--he loved Aurum and wanted to support her, but felt honor-bound to help the Chosen Princess stop Ganon. Aurum finally seemed to relent, and told him to finish his "Divine Beasts" to support Zelda. She told him privately she had no doubt of his loyalty and knew he would do the right thing when it was needed. He didn't read into this as much as Aurum hoped, and began working with Zelda, Link, and the four non-Hylian pilots to develop the Beasts. His initial conflict of feelings led him to bury a backdoor into the coding, so deep no one else would ever find it, that would allow someone to take control of the Beasts remotely in case they were ever misused by their pilots.

He got along best with Meggan, as they could relate over dealing with a difficult royal whom they nevertheless counted as very dear to them. He got along least with Link, somewhat resenting that someone so loud and boisterous would end up as the Hero instead of someone quiet like in the legends. Eventually, Link and Dorado dragged Pez and Tarro off on a "guy's trip" to Gut Check Rock. While no one would admit what happened there after the fact, they grew closer and Pez began secretly developing a fifth Beast specially for the independent Hero. This Beast was the only one without the backdoor, as by now, Pez fully believed the Champions would save Hyrule.

9:26pm, the brownstone

Alex’s brain falls out of his head when Henry comes downstairs. He apparently took Pez’s dress code seriously for once; he’s dressed to fucking impress. (Alex is so far past impressed he’s having heart palpitations.) Henry looks good in everything, from a full suit to sweatpants, but when he lets himself relax, lets himself lean into being one hundred percent himself, he ascends to a whole other level.

His white shorts are going to be the death of Alex. They’re short, showing off strong calves and stacked, polo-playing thighs, and just this side of respectably opaque. But if there’s a strong enough backlight, anyone who isn’t intimately familiar with Henry’s particular topography, will be. The shorts would be enough to cause Alex a factory reset, but then he notices the shirt. It’s halfway unbuttoned, straining to accommodate Henry’s wide shoulders, and short enough in the torso that he’s baring midriff. And it’s one of Alex’s shirts. The novelty ice cream cone print has never looked so fucking good. 

Alex can see the tops of Henry’s hipbones—they’re mouth-wateringly obscene. Henry shouldn’t be allowed out of the house like this; he’s a danger to everyone around him. Drivers will run their cars off the road, pedestrians will walk into poles, et fucking cetera. Really, Alex has a fucking duty toward public safety to tackle Henry onto their couch and take him apart with his teeth. 

So he does.

Henry makes a noise somewhere between a squawk and a whimper and Alex wants to lick it out of his mouth. He captures Henry’s lips in a kiss as they land, barely letting him breathe, let alone put up a token protest because he feels like they should be social. Henry groans and melts into the cushions, letting Alex do whatever he wants. The trust Henry puts in him is heady, and Alex spirals that much higher when Henry throws his arms around Alex’s neck to keep him in place. His own hands are busy mapping every bit of exposed skin on Henry’s chest, slipping beneath Alex’s own fucking shirt to reach the scant inches that are still hidden below fabric. Alex takes advantage of Henry’s gasp of pleasure when Alex scratches lightly at his bicep to slip his tongue inside Henry’s mouth.

Both of them are already breathing hard, the sound of spit and panting filling the air. Alex manages to stop kissing Henry’s mouth, but only to nip down his throat, pausing at the pulse point to bite down. Henry always complains about having to be careful of covering the marks Alex leaves, but he never actually asks Alex to stop. (They were thirty minutes late to meet Nora for brunch last month when Alex caught Henry pressing down on a hickey in the bathroom and Alex had to bend him over the sink about it.) Henry’s moan at the graze of Alex’s teeth against his neck is a siren song; the way he tips his head to the side to give Alex more room, a gift from the gods. 

Henry pushes at his head, directing Alex with a pleading whine. Alex is only too happy to oblige, nipping and licking and sucking down Henry’s sternum, fingers fumbling to open the shirt. He spends a few minutes teasing Henry, alternating kisses with quick bites across his soft belly. Alex noses along his waistband, inhaling the scent of sweat and something uniquely Henry. Alex’s hands tighten on Henry’s thighs involuntarily when Henry’s fingers find a home in his hair and pull tight. Alex can’t wait another minute to get Henry’s cock in his mouth.

Alex liberates his curls from Henry’s hands and rearranges them so that Henry is sort of upright and Alex kneels on the floor between his legs. Alex means to dive in at once, but he has to take a second to fully absorb the fucking daydream of a man in front of him. Henry’s eyes have darkened, pupils blown wide and clouded with arousal. He’s sagging into the couch, relying on the furniture to keep him sitting up, seemingly unable to count on his muscles to do the job. Henry’s flushed from his cheeks to his hips, his hairline starting to darken with sweat. Alex’s gaze keeps snagging on the hickey he left—one fine day he’ll give into the desire to leave a whole goddamn collar of them.

Henry shifts, drawing Alex’s attention to his erection, straining against the white fabric of his shorts. Alex can’t help but to give him a firm stroke to his bulge, delighting in the strangled gasp it pulls from Henry. He can feel Henry twitch beneath his palm, can feel Henry’s racing pulse through the fabric, and then he’s moving—undoing Henry’s fly and pulling down his shorts and briefs in one fell swoop.

Henry actually shouts when Alex takes him to the root in one long smooth motion—he’s never been more glad for his lack of gag reflex. He stays there for a moment, breathing through his nose, the tip of Henry’s cock right at the back of his mouth. He looks up at Henry through his eyelashes. Henry’s practically shaking with the effort of holding himself still. How unnecessarily gentlemanly. Alex pries Henry’s hands out of the couch cushion and back into his hair before moving his own hands to Henry’s hips. He blinks twice, their nonverbal green signal, just to really drive the point home. With a mumbled curse, Henry starts thrusting and Alex closes his eyes, groaning every time Henry’s cock dips into his throat.

Alex’s jaw aches from the stretch, and his own cock is leaking and pressing uncomfortably against his zipper, but he couldn’t care less. He’s got Henry filling his mouth, surrounded by his hands and thighs and noises and taste—

They’re definitely going to be late to Pez’s party, if they even make it out of the house. Alex couldn’t give less of a fuck if they don’t; there’ll be other parties.

Nona the Ninth presents a new narrator, one who is not particularly interested in figuring out what is going on. This means that the reader is left to piece it together with what little information they can gather, so every snippet counts. Let’s look at one moment this comes up during the book. Spoilers after the cut.

NtN takes place over the course of just five days, but by the time the information revealed in the first few pages becomes relevant again, a world of events will have already happened in between. In the first and second chapters, we are introduced to the code words. The relevant ones are

“And the all clear?” “Deadweight,” said Nona. (…) Pyrrha also gave them special emergency code words for someone following (“red ribbon”) and someone listening (“fritters”). They even had a code word for important resource, come help me get it (“fishhook”).

By the time they come back again, it is chapter twenty. In-universe, only five days have passed, which makes sense as to why this is so obvious to the characters. However, the reader has been through more than 200 pages, which makes it vital for there to be consistency in the translation if there is a chance for the reader to catch it when it happens. The translator opted for the literal translation of these words (peso muerto and anzuelo). When they are mentioned again in the text, it reads like this:

—Matadla —dijo la voz—. Que quede como un peso muerto. (…) (“Kill her,” said the voice. “Deadweight.”) —Sacadle el anzuelo al pez. El segundo pendiente de la oreja derecha. (“Get the fishhook out of the fish. Second earring. Right ear.”)

These two lines present amplification since originally Pyrrha is being very brief with her words and expressions, however it is harder to have single words as sentences in Spanish, so it is understandable that the translator uses this technique to make it easier to understand. In both texts, a very keen-eyed reader has the opportunity to decipher the code words before it is explicitly said.

Throughout these posts, it has become clear that finding a way to preserve both the details and the meaning when translating is an important task that the translator has. These are just some selected examples; however, these novels are full of them, which makes it key for its enjoyment.

chrissy is brutal by olivia rodrigo. the whole song is her and i stand by it. if you want specific lyrics, i associate 'i'm so sick of seventeen, where's my fucking teenage dream?' with her. kass is not strong enough by boygenius. particularly 'always an angel, never a god.' she's a fighter, but to her, it's never good enough. lottie is material girl by madonna. as much as she doesn't want to admit it, she has a tendency to be materialistic. so 'cause the boy with the cold hard cash is always mr. right.' is her. emily is guilty as sin? by taylor swift. i know at first glance, it doesn't make sense. but 'what if the way you hold me is what's holy?' is legit her and wendell. i don't make the rules. nora is girls like girls by hayley kiyoko. i associate this with her because it's a queer anthem and i imagine the super six singing it when they hang out and that makes me smile. also because there is nothing heterosexual about nora/june/pez. so 'girls like girls like boys do, nothing new.' is her. bea is who's afraid of little old me by taylor swift. bea's been through a lot so 'you don't get to tell me about sad' and 'i was tame, i was gentle till the circus life made me mean' are very bea-coded to me. june is these boots are made for walking by nancy sinatra, i don't have specific lyrics for this, just the vibes of the song. i picture ellen singing it to her and alex growing up in texas. rosie is take me to church by hozier. this honestly goes more towards any ships she has (which i need more of, tbh). but 'the only heaven i'll be sent to is when i'm alone with you'? it makes sense in my head. she's a goddess that deserves to be worshiped, even if she doesn't believe it. thank you for your time and congrats if you read this whole thing.

Marshall Merchandise Update - Dec 2024

It's been a while since I last posted an update of my Marshall collection, but I've managed to find quite a number of interesting items over the last few months. Without further ado, let's get started!

I don't believe I ever showed this one off, but this is one of those mini figurines found in a mystery box. It's based on Rescue Wheels. Again, I was able to scan the bar code with my phone to find out exactly who's inside, so I got Marshall on my first try. :)

Here in the states, a store called "Spirit Halloween" always pops up around October. I decided to walk through one, which is when I seen this Halloween accessory, based on Marshall's collar and pup tag. I figured why not buy one? It's kind of cool!

Speaking of Halloween merchandise, I bought this around the same time, too. It was only $1, and it has some great artwork, so how could I resist? Sadly, the cover doesn't have Marshall...

...But the back does! If I display this book with my collection, I'll probably have it like this. Or, better yet...

I'll keep it open on this page, because I really, really like this artwork! Seriously, Marshall looks awesome in this costume! It's arguably one of the best he's been featured in. Ah, how awesome would it be to see him wear this in the actual cartoon??

I ended up getting this off of Amazon. It's another one of those Tonies, but sadly, I don't have a Tonie player to hear what stories are included with it. Still, it looks pretty cool, and I'm happy to include it in my collection. Honestly, I never expected them to make one based on Jungle Pups, but given I quite like that subseries, I'm glad they did.

This is something I've seen before, but like many items, it took me a long time to find one. It's a keychain! Although... it looks a little too fragile to keep on my wallet or something. The packaging says it's made of resin, which I think is a little like ceramic? It also looks to be hand-painted.

Found this at a Meijer. It's a foam bouncy ball, or something. I seen some pictures of it online last year, but it took until this year for one of my stores to finally get one. Funny how that happens sometimes.

Good2Grow unexpectedly made another one of these! This time, Marshall's face is see-through, just like that PEZ dispenser I showed off a few years ago. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe this is now the third one they've made - the first being Marshall with his fireman hat, and the second was of his Mighty Pups, Super Paws gear (season 6).

Last, an item I've had my eyes on for a while now, but I wasn't able to obtain one because, as usual, overseas shipping to the United States tends to be way too pricey. Yup, it's another import! From the UK, in fact. Shipping to the USA was only $8, so I jumped at the deal!

I'll show off the item below, but first... that's honestly some pretty cool artwork of Marshall on the cover! I usually throw away the boxes, but for this one, I might actually display it somewhere.

Wow, this thing's better than I expected (it's nearly ten inches)! All kinds of little items are supposed to hang on his pup pack (forgot to include them, sorry), and when you press down on it, Marshall leaps up (his hind legs stay firmly on the platform) and everything flies off, including his hat. It's an interesting toy! The downside, however, is that it feels a little flimsy, so I fear it might break easily. That's no problem for me though, since it'll remain on one of my shelves with my other items.

That's all for now! Say, this will likely be my last merchandise update of 2024, huh? It's been a fun year for collection items of my favorite animated pup, and I'm so looking forward to seeing what I can get in 2025! No doubt Air Rescue will likely be up first, but I can't wait to see what they make for Marshall when we get Fire Rescue merchandise! I'm going to have to clear a lot of room for those, no doubt! lol

(Oh, speaking of which, if anyone's curious, I haven't finished rearranging my entire collection yet. I got lazy and put it off, but truth be told, I wanted to wait and make room for my latest new items anyway. Maybe I'll finish it soon? Hopefully? lol)

Gossip Girl AU!

... I love you, I do, but I must admit to never having seen Gossip Girl. This is gonna be a wild ride.

I've thought about it for exactly two seconds and have elected to do the following: five fun things that would happen in a Gossip Girl AU based solely on randomly selected episode titles from season one of the show, all of which I've never seen. Strap in, folks.

The Wild Brunch: Pez, a chaotic genius stuck in the confinements of compulsory education, has a mishap in the chem lab which results in a sentient sandwich. All the man wanted was a goddamn post-breakfast-pre-lunch grilled cheese, and now said grilled cheese is reciting Keats and crushing on the new kid from Texas. Pez names it 'Henry'.

Dare Devil: Nora dares Alex to eat the grilled cheese. Henry is horrified. Pez is entertained. Alex is keen, because it looks so tasty, but hesitant, because it looks so alive. June's book club comes to the rescue and grants Henry membership, which in turn grants him protection from being eaten under paragraph twenty-one of the school code of conduct: 'do not bite fellow members of extracurricular organisations.' Thank God for Theodore Wilkins in the class of 96' whose vampire phase left deep imprints on official regulations (and on Colin McMahon, the poor lad. He wore a lot of scarfs.)

Seventeen Candles: Alex turns seventeen. To celebrate, he and Nora break up and get back together again seventeen times - except the seventeenth time, they forget to get back together. Neither of them actually notice. Henry nearly eats himself from stress.

Roman Holiday: On a class trip to Europe, Pez mixes Henry up with an eerily similar garlic bread appetizer. The garlic bread does not recite Keats. Alex is beside himself but can't figure out why. Nora reveals herself to be a witch and summons Henry back from the buffet. Nobody is surprised by this development.

All About My Brother: Pez and Nora combine their sciency and witchy powers to transform Henry into a real boy who smells only vaguely of cheese. Alex is into it. So into it that he comes out to June a moment later, which annoys her seeing as she'd been about to come out to him and now he's stolen her thunder. June gets back at Alex by getting together with Nora, but is startled when this only makes him thrilled - so in an impressive display of commitment to the bit she dates Nora for a decade and then marries her. They have three children. Alex, meanwhile, asks Henry out by means of a message written in apricot jam on a whole wheel of brie. (Henry accepts.)

The end, I suppose! Gossip Girl. What a show, amirite?
