The Marvels did more to tie in the multiverse to the mcu than Multiverse of Madness did

Something I realized awhile ago is Carol in Captain Marvel (2019) is probably so emotionless because of what the Kree did. Parts of her were missing/locked away which would affect her moods and personality. She’s more direct and soldierly. That starts to fade away when she realizes where she came from.

Now in The Marvels (2023), Carol is shows a lot more emotion even in scenes where it’s just her and Goose. She’s not as closed off and she’s more mature with her emotions (like reflecting on her feelings and then apologizes for snapping at Kamala). We learn later she’s been trying to recover her memories which would definitely allow her personality to show through in this movie. We also see her be a bit awkward with emotions around people, and that’s probably due to her still holding herself to a “soldier” standard and being fairly isolated in space. She’s more comfortable with Valkyrie and Fury and later on Monica and Kamala.

This was definitely character development and I don’t think Brie Larson should’ve played the character any differently in either movie. We’re supposed to see two different characters here. In Captain Marvel, it was Vers for the most part until her story is revealed. In The Marvels, it was Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

rewatched the marvels for my first watch anniversary last night and i had things i wanted to say

carol sleeping flat on her bed, no blankets, like a vampire is so funny. just the horizontal 🧍‍♀️

on that note, her mattress looks so uncomfortable. it’s like silver and shiny and pretty thin. someone get this woman into a double bed with hundreds of throw pillows and heavy rain outside the window right now.

is it to regulate her heat? is it like a cooling mattress? i’m very concerned about the quality of this fictional woman’s sleep schedule. i have a feeling it’s non-existent.

does she wake up feeling rested when she sleeps with the skrull-device? or does it hinder her sleep? because evidently she can’t get comfortable with it on (see point 1) and she’s able to snap out of that state pretty quickly (when she has the flashbacks to maria and all three of them jump up and turn it off.)

is she not sleeping at all?

monica’s sunglasses. where did they come from. because she was wearing her uniform. in space. then she wore carol’s clothes. are they carol’s glasses? this woman can literally restart a sun but she needs sunglasses during the summer? or are they simply to carry on her top gun thing. does she purchase them for the vibes only?

at what point did carol marry yan. how long has she been married. did she turn up to buy groceries for an ill maria and have to confess to her she was a married woman. was she married pre-blip? does she still have the funky wedding dress?

and can she do her sparkly sailor-moon-esque transformation at any time? i just think that’d be hilarious. princess dress on the go at all times.

The new Photon cards are hella interesting to me so I'm gonna be talking about them for a little bit!

Here's the photon cards if you haven't seen them ^

So, I rambled. Here's the word count: 515 words.

The first few aspects of these cards that people notice is that they're similar to the Imprisoned Marionette cards from Project Sekai. I honestly can't blame this comparison at all because of Sato Hinata (also look at the cards from that prosekai event and compare) but I think there's a reason for this. The name for this gacha is 'REVERSE Gacha', so it's supposed to be the opposite to Photon Maiden's image. Then what is Photon's 'image' right now?

Photon Maiden's image at this point in time is a unit with a cyber or modern theme that wants to explore different colors for themselves to grow. Now, what is that in reverse? Photon Maiden's reverse image is a unit with an analog or vintage theme that wants to stay the same because of their managers/producers or even themselves. This is supported by the fact that Photon, in the cards, are doing poses as they're tied up in a bunch of puppet strings. They are forced to make these poses, it isn't done out of love or out of passion; they're like dolls.

One thing I haven't seen people notice is that the poses they make in the cards are similar to their initial 3*s. Here are the cards side by side:

If you compare each of them, Saki and Ibuki's poses in their cards are similar to their initial 3*s while Towa and Noa's poses are like a flipped (reversed) version of their poses.

Putting these cards side by side show that the newer cards are supposed to be the opposite to what Photon's image is. Look at the newer cards, the light (passion) in their eyes is gone. They aren't smiling, they look as though they're going through the motions. The colors in the card are super desaturated, even for D4DJ. Usually there's at least some sort of saturation, giving the lively feel of the usual event cards. But there isn't. There's no 'life' at all. Then look at their initial cards. Yes, it's old -- ignore the glowup in the art style -- but look at them. They're smiling, they're happy and there's so much light around them. That's the reason why they're called 'Photon' Maiden in the first place. Ibuki isn't smiling in her card but she has this determined look in her eyes that isn't present in the newer card.

These cards are what Photon would be if they continued following what Shano laid out for them. They never explored, they stayed stagnant, like a photo in a frame. They're forever stuck in that moment, never to change. Hell, even the fact that the cards' main color isn't even Photon's unit color supports this. It's purple. That's Shano's character color and also her unit's, Lynx Eyes, color. Yes, the dominant color in the initial cards the background is green and green isn't their unit color. However, the inverted color for green is purple; another way to say that is that purple is the reverse to green.

That's all I wanted to say about the new Photon Maiden cards, bye. I'm excited for the other units.

Just noticed that Crafty's work is still out there. If it's a good idea for me to ask; What did you think of the old show and its characters, if you don't mind me asking?

I talked about it before, especially when I still had a Twitter and me and a good chunk of the old production team shared our thoughts and experiences with the project and Crafty himself.

I am torn. For one, I can not pull a "seperate the art from the artist" thing here, on so many levels. This project was both the work of MANY, as the production team was pretty big despite what he wante people to believe, but it also is Crafty's brainchild through and through. And he hurt a lot of people in many different ways that they are still healing from. I know I am too, to some degree.

Know that many of the characters on Crafty's shows were OCs of other people from the production team - basically all of the women were. And I do like many of them on their own, away from the setting the got put into for the show. I am especially fond of Pepper!

But also, Crafty had a habit of not crediting people. In general, but also for ideas for plots, side-shows and characters.

Thinking about it, there were elements of the project that I am still fond of, but that's maybe because I was involved in creating aspects of them - especially the Infinia (the eldritch gods that were turned into objects) and also the "final boss" of the series, since I designed her - which would've been the creator of the Infinia and an eldritch goddess in her own right. Even if the viewers only ever got a small glimpse of her before the show got canceled.

I think I personally will take the work I did and rework it for my own creative endeavors. I am not letting Crafty take something that I poured my heart and time into.

I'm all about the drama that's gonna go down between Monica and Carol, but I just know that part in the trailer is Monica trying to tell Carol that they're family and she doesn't have to try and save/protect the entire universe alone. I'm so ready for this movie!

Where do artist friends prefer to upload their art?

Instagram isn't doing me any favours and am sick of the cropping and bots. Tumblr I haven't used too much, and Bluesky i'm considering trying out with an art-specific account. X and DeviantArt are out of the question.
