productivity diaries (#24)
i woke up unexpectedly on time and earlier than i had anticipated and that's why i got a lot done today
i finished one chapter in maths , and revised 2 chapters in physics and did physical chemistry and in cs for my exam i am only left with 2 easy topics which i will do tomorrow
i wanted to stay up till 3 today too but even after having coffee i am feeling sleepy and it's only 2 , but it's okay , i will wake up early tomorrow and complete what's left
i realised today that the last month and the previous month were the busiest months and still somehow i really don't know how but i have completed more than 90% of my syllabus for my entrance exam whereas in January i think the problem was that i was anxious and rushing due to less time but this time because i had to manage my other exam prep with my entrance exam prep so i managed and planned everything out well in advance and for that i am proud of myself because even if i took 2 hours to plan this month , i somehow did it really well:))
also, learnt it the hard way but honestly, quantity is not always equal to quality and this month i have been studying for an average of 8 hours per day and still got everything done, so yes, finally, it's not always about studying 12hrs a day
total study time: 8hrs...

04.16.2025
really happy with the work i got done today. i feel leagues more prepared for my exam that'll (ideally) be tomorrow, since i got a recommendation for a study resource that helped so much more than anything i'd found before. i'm starting to feel more hopeful about physics.
in other news, i'm planning to stop by office hours on friday morning to get some coding help. my grade in CS is starting to drop but i'm honestly not super concerned as long as i can pass the course... we'll see how things go.
i need to get caught up on lecture notes.

day 6 of 100 days of productivity 💌
Today, I had maths, CS, and EPQ. In maths it was just a key skills quiz and a bit of work on SUVAT equations, in CS we worked on binary addition, and in EPQ we were working on our record of initial ideas. I think I’m starting to narrow down what I’m going to do it on! But I’m not too sure yet.
I usually rest after school on Fridays since I’m knackered from the week + my cramps are kicking me onto my bum, but I worked on the problem set I was assigned by a maths and physics club I signed up for. It’s proving really hard, to be honest, and it needs to be completed in a week’s time. I’m really going to have to get my head down and finish that. I’m going to be working on that, tomorrow, too.
List of things to do over the weekend:
- Finish all maths homeworks
- Finish the exercises from the maths classes I’ve had this week
- Finish the Foundations of Physics booklet, and make sure I’m caught up in the Motion booklet
- Do the exam questions printed for physics
- Finish as many of the programming exercises as possible, hopefully five
- Get most of the way through the problem sets, or at least make sure I’ve fully understood the concepts within them
- Finish my record of initial ideas for EPQ
It’s a lot but I think I can do it!
- J 💌

14.9.2021 ~ Day 7/100
Lately, I am on an emotional rollercoaster that's either taking me up to a stronger self-belief for a moment or bringing me down back to weird self-doubt. My day just keeps swinging between the two and it's kind of exciting but scary too.
I had a terrible migraine today, so I couldn't get much study done. Still-
Studied a few concepts from p-block elements and when I looked at my timetable, I realised we literally have 4-days-long leave before chemistry exams so I shut the book.
Wrote an email to my principal requesting my high school transcripts and reports.
Learnt about peer recommendation letters that Dartmouth demands; I reached out to a close friend for the same. He agreed to write.
Studied about earth's magnetic field in the evening.
Gave the final touch to and submitted my CS project.
Filled in the activities section of my common app profile and they seem quite more impressive to me than what I thought they would.
Tomorrow will be hectic as I've to revise and prepare for my physics exam which is on the day after. Wish me luck! ✨

TIPS FOR REVISION OF IIT JEE MAINS AND ADVANCED
Every students goes to School and almost every student attends a coaching institute. They visit the same classes and make notes. They solve many problems in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Then they appear in a lot of Tests for JEE Mains and Advanced. But not all of them get desirable marks and ranks. And as a result of this rank, your parents think that you are not preparing well or working hard. They will not stop there. They will judge each of your habits as a bad habit. Whether it is your guitar playing, weekly cricket match or your friends. Which in my opinion is not true.

This phenomenon occurs very often among JEE Main aspirants. Students with the same potential get different rank in the same test. Worse a student with high intelligence quotient can get inferior rank in any test. So the question arises why this happens? If you have attended the same coaching class and attempted the same questions, but when it comes to the result there is a massive difference between the rank of yours and the topper. Why? The answer is REVISION. You must be thinking why such a trivial thing is essential for the results. Because in IIT JEE in takes two years to complete the syllabus. In IIT JEE syllabus you study almost 64 chapters. Each chapter has a dozen concepts. In every chapter you solve over 200 problems. So you can see you do a lot of hard work in JEE preparation because the syllabus is enormous. In such pressure, your mind will forget a lot of these concepts. As we move on to a new chapter, our find will partially forget the previous chapter. Thus you will learn new chapters and unlearn the previous chapter together. NTA expect us to remember each chapter as if we have learned it today. Your brainpower should be as sharp as a steel sword. You may have such brain power if you revise the concepts, , and examples very smartly. Revision is by far the most important thing for a competitive exam aspirant.
Take small steps every day
The most important way of revision is whenever you learn a new topic or concept revise it immediately. Suppose your teacher taught you acidic strength order in chemical Bonding today. Then its recommended that you revise it as soon as you reach home. Even it will be better if you revise it on your way home. It will save you a lot of time. Per day you should revise for half an hour per subject. The focus of this daily revision should be topic or concept you learned today in the class.
Revise main points and questions not only theory
Do you remember when you revised last time? What exactly did you revise? Only theory or questions also? It is a widespread mistake that students focus only on theory while revising. It is wrong because IIT JEE Main and Advanced Exam is application based exam, not a theoretical one. You will make at least 25 notebooks in your JEE Preparation. And if you will keep revising only theory from these class notes, then they are useless. Thus your revision is nothing if you do not revise a solved example with every concept. Your application part will be substantial if you revise a difficult solved question with every concept.
Revise of A particular Topic for JEE Mains
If you have a class test of a particular chapter tomorrow or day after that, then instead of revising only theory you should practice the question also. Let me give you an example if you have a test of Simple Harmonic Motion. Revise the basic concepts and a few critical questions related to every concept. Then select a few easy questions from your question bank and solve them in a time frame. If you answer them pat yourself in the back and then pick some not-so-easy question and solve them. Repeat the same process at least four times. Increase the level of question from easy to difficult. But this process is not as smooth as it seems. You will get stuck in some questions. In such case refer to the related concept in your class notes or book. Then try to relate your unsolved question from the solved example and try it again. This analysis will increase your marks and rank unexpectedly.
Make a cheat sheet for formulas for IIT JEE
A cheat sheet is a collection of all formulas, tips, tricks, and shortcuts related to a chapter. I will suggest you make one. I will recommend adding an essential question in the cheat sheet in the concise form To create such a list, you have to wait until the end of the chapter. After finishing the section gather all the material, you referred. The write all necessary information in a very very concise manner. Make it very concise you can even use sign language which can understand. This cheat sheet will save you precious time during JEE Main exam. Read The Brief Analysis Of JEE Main 2019 January
Revise At least two Subjects Per Day
Psychologists say studying more than one subject is better than only one subject per day. Suppose you are revising Physics and Maths on Monday for JEE Advanced. Then on Tuesday review Maths and Chemistry. Why? Because if you keep revising the same subject, chapter and concept for a whole day your mind will get bored. You can get confused with different concepts. Thus when you make your timetable, next time include at least two subjects per day. Download Mock Test PAper for JEE Mains Here.
Read key information out loud
It is also a scientific fact when you are revising something read out important concepts loud. What’s the reason for this? It is convenient. If you only mumble the words you only see them. But if you read out loud, you see them as well as listen to it. It will embed the concept in your mind .or a long time. Though this method has its limit, you can not read every word on the notebook out loud and also in numerical part reading is not enough. I will recommend this method for Chemistry ( Organic and Inorganic) and Maths & Physics formulas. Learn 7 Habits for Success in JEE Mains
Simplify, summarize, and compress the information
Not a lot of students can do it. But if you can, you will be able to get an extra edge over other students. Simplify and summarise your revision as much as possible. A concise summary is easy to remember. One of the ways to do this is to make your mnemonics. For example Lina Kare Rab Se Fariyad. Elements: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr Beta Mange Cars Saari Baap Roye. Elements: Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra Nepal Pakistan Australia Sab Bikhari. (No offence!!) Elements: N, P, As, Sb, Bi Memorize Pi till 10 decimal places: 3.1415926535 May(3) I(3) have(3) a(3) large(3) container(3) of(3) coffee(3) ready(3) for(3) today(3) ?
Switch up your location
You must have a particular place in your house or hostel to study. You must get bored and stagnant by studying in the same area for long hours. It happens with almost every JEE aspirant. In such a situation you should change your location. You can go to your parent’s room or sit in the balcony, or whatever may suit you. It may sometimes work when you are revising for long hours. A change in your location can reset your mind. After that, you can study for a few more hours.
And these are all the techniques very efficient for an effctive revision. Above tricks for revision of JEE Mains and advanced are tried and tested by me and my students. It is very important to keep revising your syllabus if your preparing for exams like IIT JEE. You can not hope that you will revise the entire syllabus in last few weeks. This is impossible.

Today it was snowing, and yesterday I got a 100% on my physics exam - my first ever - and it made me very, very happy. I’ve never gotten a good mark on a physics exam before here, last semester it was a string of 50s and 60s and 70s that were always below the class average, but I understood the material on that exam yesterday and I feel an exceeding fondness for oscillations and M-minus-one-K matrices and I’m so excited to learn about waves now. This is all new and wonderful to me. Tomorrow is a more relaxing day - all I have to do is go to lecture/work, catch up on math, and do a few other odd tasks, and then I’m done for the day, and I don’t have to worry about any urgent work until my CS exam on Wednesday. That good score really boosted my mood - it just feels so good to be recognized for something I like and worked really hard in.

tell us all about your first day!
Today i had 4 classes: AP Research, AP Physics, Computer Science III (which is basically an AP class), and AP Statistics :)
Most of them were dedicated to the syllabus and expectations but honestly, these teachers have been so good so far and I have really high expectations!!
In Research, I’m going to be doing big R research on a topic of my choice before making a 15-20 minute oral presentation and writing a 4000/5000 word research paper @ the end of the year for my AP exam! There isn’t actually a test which is lovely but choosing a topic is going to be SO hard because I can do literally anything I want (so long as it’s approved by a board of directors from the district).. Although im not too worried about my thing being too bad because a lot of examples were vv extreme,, im thinking of either going through the faults in the schooling system or something else to do with psychological issues! We get to conduct our own experiments so im really really really hyped!!
In Physics we just went through the syllabus,, but we’re going to be doing a lot!! and the teacher is such an upgrade from the teacher that the school had last year!! he’s super nice and the way he grades his tests prevents us from getting Bs on the free response even if our answers are wrong (based on if we show proper work) which is GREat because i suck at math
IM SO HYPED FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE I’VE KNOWN THE TEACHER FOR 1 DAY AND I ALREADY KNOW HE’S GOING TO BE MY FAVORITE!!! He’s such a real one and super relatable!! he went to the naval academy and yale and he’s part of the reason that Firefox is a thing!! such a cool dude!!! my cs teacher last year was absolute shit so the upgrade button worked so much magic im so ready this is going to be so great!!
stat was eh,, idk how to feel yet.. the teacher seems p nice though which is cool!! i just need a high a in this class bc i need to get that GPA up to a 5.3/5.5 for my rank to go up (i have higher hopes this year)
thank you for asking, nonnie, i hope i didn’t bore yall with my day! tomorrow I have 3 different classes and an off block so im excited!!

completed 2.5 chapters in physics, completed inorganic (finally) and 1.5 chapter in maths and completed 2 chapters in cs
overall, pretty productive day , i decided to stay up till 3:30 so that i can somehow tweak my body clock into staying up btw 3-6 , i'll see how it goes tomorrow
total study time: 9hrs...

day 10 of 100 days of productivity 💌
A few chaotic things have been going on so I missed yesterday, forgive me. Couldn’t be helped.
Today, I had all three subjects, hurrah! But I ended up missing half of physics for personal development. CS was fun, we were looking at floating point numbers. Then we just did a bunch of proof in maths!
Our school runs the STEP support programme, which is an initiative to help maths students better their problem solving skills if they plan to take the maths/CS entrance exam for Cambridge, and maybe Warwick and Imperial? Maybe? But the assignments have been so difficult to be honest. On the bright side, the warmup is always much harder than the STEP question we’re given.
I’m also beginning to near the end of the problem sets for that physics and maths club I’ve been mentioning so much. I just spent half an hour doing 2.5 pages of working out for six marks. Couldn’t secure the last two marks because it was getting overtly convoluted and I knew I went wrong somewhere, since a page of working out for 2 marks is beyond insanity. But I’ll try again tomorrow, I have a free double period in the morning I’ll spend in the library.
It’s been a nice day 😮💨

Twenty seventh day of produc(stressing out over trivial matters while the world is burning)tivity
TMI
Got a short small test tomorrow and won’t let last time’s grade get to me.
TBF today was productive but definitely not as Friday. But I will take a win whenever I get it :).
I woke up, attended math a two-hour class, which was boring for some reason (unusual). Then I had a short break and got to working on an Eng assignment... ( I swear, all I ever study nowadays is Eng, math, physics and CS even though I learn other subjects), then I attended Eng class, afterwhich I attended another class that I do not wish to name for privacy’s sake...
After all of that I got to studying for the Dec exam... and then I helped a classmate with stuff (which lasted too long but at least she was able to pull things off in the end). And now I gotta complete my to do list... I need to revise some stuff and do math. But nothing too much.
TBH, I am starting to lose confidence in my ability to pull off a good grade on the Dec exam (which is a really important exam), but I will keep on studying because emotions come and go... sometimes I am hopeful and other times I am not... sometimes I am confident and other times I am not...
In brief:
-> i am fearful of the future, which is fine as long as it does not hold me back from trying
-> productive day, though boring and stressful...
